GLOW: The Documentary

Am I wrong in considering Hollywood & Vine to be one of the great tag teams of the 80's?
I can safely say yes.  Although really this documentary looks so softball that they probably won't even question the motives of David McLane, probably because he had to sign off on it to get it made.  Still, might be fun, who knows.

  1. I remember watching an old GLOW tape that my local video store used to have on the shelf when I was really young, hoping that it would have some nudity in it. Strangely, I learned to hate David McClane long before I knew how scuzzy he was. It was because of his ineptitude that I had to resort to hiding the Women's Penitentiary movies from my mom under the backseat of our van.

  2. At least you can be sure that the "athletes" on this are actually women, unlike a recent basketball game.

  3. - Jesus.  As a young wrestling fan in the late 80s that trailer brought back some memories.  I remember that dislocated elbow and that spot with the spike being driven into that poor woman's arm giving me nightmares as a kid.  GLOW holds a very special place in my history as a fan of wrestling.

  4. There's a pretty good doc. about indy wrestling called "Card Subject to Change". It's streaming on Netflix, and probably other places. If any of you haven't seen it, you should

Side note: the" Book Dennis Stamp" shirts are funny as hell.

Daniel Bryan posted the following on Twitter…"The people have spoken, and @wwe has listened. The #YesYesYes shirt may be out as soon as monday. Will keep you guys updated."

  6. Thank goodness D-Bry wasn't in WCW--imagine the noise if he'd ever encountered The Zodiac?

  7. I liked that one, it was like Beyond the Mat if they just pulled back and let the stories tell themselves. Kevin Sullivan was basically the Terry Funk story, Trent Acid was the Jake Roberts (even moreso than Roberts, since Acid actually died), and Rhett Titus was, to a small degree, the Mick Foley, with all the family stuff.

It was also especially weird to hear Kamala speaking in English, and kinda sad to see him out there wrestling knowing that now he doesn't have a foot. Also, that Corvis Pain or whatever his name was that shot steroids on camera has to be the biggest fucking idiot in wrestling. He basically might as well have said "I have no desire to ever work an indie show bigger than the one I'm on right now".
