  1. Uh, is HTM's word really golden?  I mean, he is a wrestler.

  2. Whether this is true or not, it's always interesting listening to Honky because he's someone who just doesn't give a fuck, flying or otherwise.

  3. So now we're back to the "Butch Reed wasn't there so Honky got the belt" story?

I think the Honky Tonk Man has told 87 different versions of his Intercontinental Title run, from who it started, how he almost left. I remember he once said that he called Vince from Atlanta with the belt.

It's gotten to the point that I don't even think Honky Tonk even remembers what really happened anymore.

  4. I could barely understand that...they should have paraphrased him a couple of times b/c there's clearly some spoken inflection missing there.

Anyway, Honky probably has a point about the Savage thing...it definitely helped him out and that in turn helped business out. Poor Ted, though, seems like he really was going to walk out of Wrestlemania IV the champion. Honestly it's not that far a stretch, esp. when you consider they were in Trump's casino and making a big deal about it. Probably would have had The Donald come out and congratulate him there himself.

  5. Not really surprising. In those days, when most of these guys had come up through territories where you had to protect yourself if you wanted to be a hot enough star to go to the next territory when your time was up, this kind of thing was just how the business was done. It never mixed well with Vince's plans which is probably why he had so many ego conflicts in his day, but no one would have ever made it out of the territories alive if they hadn't had this kind of attitude. Still doesn't excuse someone like Honky big-timing someone like Savage who was clearly his better, but as he said, it ended up working out better for Savage.

Nowadays of course, the wrestlers wouldn't even know to try to do things like this, and instead would just make snarky comments on Twitter if they didn't like something. I think that's why so many old-school people had Randy Orton marked for success from the beginning: he was steeped in that old school, me-first attitude and he knew how to play the game to make himself a success. Too bad that he's an ass kissing sycophant who needs to try and burn everyone below him to keep his spot fresh, but that's how he learned and it's served him well.

  6. THREAD JACK~!  Dean Ambrose via twitter:

"#wwe likes to pretend Mick Foley never existed. Wwe is still apologizing for him by sterilizing the product. #raw"

I'm almost ready to say they got Moxley right.  Almost.

  7. He knows he loves to talk smack lol, I mean he really has brass ones as one of the few to diss Steamboat on a regular basis and complain abut why he  has this while others has such and such and that he's sitting at home, I mean WWE has offered him things and he's turned them down so quit whining HTM

Yup. Well, he claimed that he hasn't spoken to Hogan in twenty years, since he walked out on WCW in 95 or 96. And that he had been wrestling for 14 years before he arrived in the WWF, ever since he debuted in 1977...

  9.  I am completely ambivalent towards him.  Everybody keeps building up how awesome he is but I think he overacts in all of his promos and that his material is woefully underwhelming.

  10. The name Dean Ambrose sounds like an Archie character.

  11. I still laugh when i read about guys refusing to lose matches in a worked sport. I'd love to see my boss's reaction if I refused to do my job on the grounds that it could affect my future employment at a rival firm! Yet that's more or less exactly what Honky's reasons were for refusing to do what his employers asked of him.

  12. I think that attitude has died out in him over the past year. He's made Rhodes look good, Barrett look good, Henry look good, Ziggler look good. Ziggler didn't beat him but it was a competitive 10 minute match in front of 4 million people. And he hasn't been the center of attention of SmackDown for the past few months(due to injury somewhat) But Bryan, Sheamus and Show have been the number 1 focuses for the past few months. I'm an Orton fan but I think it's been refreshing not having Orton in the main event for the past few months.

Orton probably does make sure he always looks good(which is smart) but for the past year his opponents have also looked good as well.
