Wrestlemania: The Concert!

With the scheduled performances this year, there has probably been enough musical performances at Wrestlemania to fill out an entire concert, even leaving out the "America the Beautiful" singing.  Does anything stand out for you as the Savage/Steamboat (or perhaps more appropriately, the Taylor/Bigelow) of music?  I'm guessing either Motorhead at X-Seven or Limp Bizkit at XIX.
Oh dude, don't even give them any more stupid DVD ideas.

That being said, I'd have to go with the D-X house band at Wrestlemania XIV as far as memorable performances go.  They were terrible, but it was so clearly the start of a new era for the promotion and fit perfectly with the impending takeover of the show by D-X.

  1. A DVD of a three hour loop of Stacy dancing while Saliva plays he Dudley's to the ring is the only wrestlemania concert I need.

  2. Not exactly relevant, but I'm headed back to my small Welsh hometown to watch Mania with a good friend, so this'll be my last chance to post here until tomorrow.

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the show, and I look forward to discussing it on here when I get back from the Shire. Fingers crossed for a great Wrestlemania. Enjoy!

  3. I'd call Limp Dick at XIX the Kennel in the Cell of music.

  4. Up until Kid Rock, at least.

  5. Just posting this here because this is the most recent WM-related thread:

I'm a huge mark for set-design, and that thing is friggin' beautiful. Also a totally new idea, having part of the set all the way behind the seats like that, should add an incredible ambiance.

  6. I can't remember the last WM I was THIS jacked up for. A stacked card that has tons of star power, including a dream match that as of 14 months ago I thought I'd never see, plus the whole Brock/Batista business...

You know, I think this IS the most excited I've ever been for a WM (at least since I was a kid).

  7. Has to be Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles.  Those are legitimately two of music's greatest legends, and the fact that they performed at Wrestlemania is pretty special.  Little Richard and Gladys Knight aren't too far behind.

  8. I think Aretha Franklin had the best performance at any Mania. The visual of her sitting at the piano surrounded by the massive crowd is fantastic.

  9.  I think the last time I was this excited for a Wrestlemania was Wrestlemania 20. I am beyond excited and can't wait for the show to start.

  10. Same here - WM20 was the last time I was this pumped for a show.

I mean, I was pumped for Taker/Shawn at 25 and 26, but not for the whole show.

  11. I was watching WM XIX the other night. I'd totally forgotten about WWE announcing Limp Bizkit as 'The WWE's favorite band in the whole world!' So shameless.

  12. I remember buying beer during that performance. Just me and half of Safeco standing in line.

  13. Definitely the best performance of the opening song, without question. That woman, especially back then, had the voice of a fucking angel.

  14. CAN'T WAIT to see what Taker does with that.

Fuck, I hate WM-day I feel like the markiest mark of all marks that ever marked.

Getting ready to stream last years show on the big screen while the kids show up.

  15. Same here, I just started the stream of last years show (I have about 8 kids showing up to watch with my sons, ((Ok and some fathers so I have people to drink with))) and we're all just sitting here abuzz.

  16. I think the last time I was really this pumped was Royal Rumble '04. I was like 3 months out of the Marines and everyone was basically certain Benoit would win but no one ACTUALLY believed it.  When he pulled Show over the top rope = marksplosion.

  17. FINALLY! A Set that doesn't get in the way of people sitting in the back.

  18. Can I nominate Metallica for all these video packages they're showing on the PPV preview?

    Because they fucking rule...

  19. Too bad Lemmy was so out of it at that Mania, just because Motorhead fucking rule. And even though their performance was awful, credit must be given to Run DMC just for being one of the biggest acts ever to appear at Mania. Salt & Pepa weren't half bad when they were there either.

  20. Proof positive we'll be seeing Brock tonight: Paul Heyman is saying Brock is not in Miami at all. Anything Heyman says should be taken with a grain of salt about the size of Lot's wife.

  21. I think I may rival your "mark mode" - I'm like a little kid waiting for Christmas right now.

    Seventy-five more minutes??? ARRGGHHH!!!

  22. Definitely, Benoit seemed like a total red herring - I figured he'd have a great performance and last until the final four or so, but never expected him to actually win.

  23. I'm marking harder than a room full of six-year-olds. Literally. My kids and their friends are like "Can't we watch the Celtics while we wait?" and my response is basically "Fuck you children, we're watching Hunter/Taker Part 1 and LIKING IT."

My wife fled this place faster than any Superbowl in history.

If they open with Punk/Jericho I will shit.
