I wasn't really watching when she was at her peak in WWE. I think I saw her a couple of times just flipping through.I thought she was pretty hot but that's about it. Someone on the blog said she was over huge at one point but I can't imagine that since most of the Divas get crickets when they come out.

ReplyDeleteMickie was actually pretty over. She was part of that golden age of Divas that included Trish, Lita and occasionally Stephanie McMahon. They actually got the crowd interested and could work a good match.
ReplyDeleteShe also got one of the better blowoffs in recent WWE memory with her Royal Rumble victory over McCool to end that fucking awful "Piggy James" storyline.
I don't think she did a porn but she did some nude photos that may have been for a fetish magazine. I'm not completely sure.

ReplyDeleteShe did a couple shoots nude, one for a magazine called Legshow and another set that's taken outside. They look to be from a few years ago, pre WWE and even pre TNA. Do a google search "Mickie James Nude" and you'll find them, along with Maryse's pics.
ReplyDeleteThey went a weird direction with it when Trish dyed her hair and starting acting like Mickie, I think they just ditched it and then wrote it off as Trish playing mind games to get back at Mickie.
ReplyDeleteWhat's funny is that the "lesbian stalker" angle was created in ROH in 02 with Allison Danger as the lesbian and Alexis Laree, aka Mickie, as the stalkee.
I was guessing it was an homage to "Single white female"

ReplyDeleteAlso interesting to note that in one of the Road to Wrestlemania storylines in Smackdown vs Raw 2011 had the same stalking storyline but with Natalya stalking Mickie.
ReplyDeleteMickie James was very over at her peak, and was always arguably the most popular diva simply due to that one great feud with Trish that culminated at WM22. Talk about a great way to intro a character --- debut her as a superfan, let her catch on as Trish's second, have her psychosis slowly reveal itself until Trish finally gets fed up and 'dumps her,' leading to the inevitable heel turn and feud. Trish vs. Mickie at WM22 was the best-built women's feud in history, led to a really hot crowd in Chicago and they could actually pay it off with a strong match. This is light years away from the divas title being used today as a bathroom break.
ReplyDeleteI think one of my favourite moments in that rivalry was in its very early stages, when Bischoff has the whole roster outside the ring on RAW for some reason. He's passing around a microphone so guys can vent about whatever the big issue was, but Mickie just grabbed the mic and said, "My only comment is that Trish is the best! Woo hoo!" It was a great little character moment that put her over within the context of a larger storyline, something WWE NEVER does anymore. To wit, during the last time everyone was standing around the ring, we had such nonsense as Beth Phoenix inexplicably being worried about her safety --- the characters were rewritten to fit the storyline, not the other way around.
