2011 DVD Set on crazy sale

http://www.wweshop.com/item/2011-dvd-package/DVDMedia/50-09107

The entire 2011 WWE PPV set on for $40 on WWE.com!  That is pretty darn tempting at what, $3 a show?  Especially just for MITB and Wrestlemania.

  1. Just bought it, that's a great deal.

  2. DVD is dead to me...

  3. Man, I'm not buying another 2012 ppv on DVD for the rest of the year.

I already got the Rumble, Maina, MitB, Summerslam and Survivor Series. I wonder how much I could get selling them back on eBay/craigslist?

  4. Really, outside of Money in the Bank, it's not worth it.

I recently rewatched Wrestlemania 27, and it's terrible. There only thing worth watching is Taker's entrance with the Johnny Cash theme, but that's edited out of the DVD.

  5.  Deadness is relative?

  6. Great buy, but I'm pretty satisfied with my Best of RAW/Smackdown and Best PPV Matches of 2011 Blu-rays as all I would ever want or need from 2011 WWE.

  7. Got to say, that seems like a good deal until you realize that TNA PPVs are available on YouTube for $1 each, so if you have a DVD recorder and a good YouTube converter like Plex, you can get every 2011 TNA PPV for just $12, so I have to admit WWE's totally missing the boat here.

If they created a subscription on-demand channel on a platform like YouTube or Roku then they would be making a lot more money than staying with the old, dying platforms like cable and home video distribution.

That's why TNA stopped releasing DVDs, they were smart enough to realize that in the long run, they can make much more money with these newer platforms than they could ever make releasing DVDs at a F.Y.E. especially with store chains closing down left and right these days.

  8. That is a pretty good deal. Elimination Chamber was a good show, WrestleMania was decent, Extreme Rules was great, Money in the Bank was great, Summerslam was good, Hell in a Cell was decent, Survivor Series was good, and TLC was decent.

Though the TNA YouTube service is a better deal.

  9. Bought it.

From a top-to-bottom standpoint, Wrestlemania is a top contender for Worst PPV of 2011. That's as much of a statement of how bad it was as how good the rest of the year was.

  10. Gives you an idea of both the state of DVDs and the state of their PPVs.

Just wait, this year's collection will be about $8.

  11.  The Cash theme is edited out? How retarded is this company? How do they not have the foresight to say, "We would like to buy the rights to this song for the PPV and the DVD release."

Editing songs out really hurts the quality of the moment in my opinion.

  12. Couldn't agree with you more. Taker has an iconic theme, but the Cash theme to me really made the moment, even moreso after the match than before. Having it edited out sucks (It's edited out on the Best PPV Matches too, of course).

  13. Not sure if the deal is over now, but they also had the Survivor Series anthology volumes 1 and 2 for 25 bucks total.

I ordered that and the 2011 DVDs, but I had to e-mail them because I got fucked over on the 15% off an order of $50 or more thing, it didn't take the 15% off. WWE Shop really needs a confirm screen after you put in your credit card info/paypal info/discount code/etc.

  14. Glad I checked the comments. Thanks for the heads up on the Survivor Series Anthology. It said they were down to 9 in stock when I got there. I just placed my order. It's largely for nostalgia reasons since the 89 show was the first PPV I ever saw. I know it's a mediocre show, but because it was my first I wore the heck out of my VHS copy when I was a kid.

  15. I actually really like the '89 Survivor Series.  It's a fun show.  There aren't a ton of good matches and some of the booking is questionable, but it does have a nice atmosphere and the commentary is fantastic.

  16.  I agree.  The video quality of the DVDs are great, but even for old shows, I'd rather watch them on VHS or my own VHS to DVD conversions than watch their edited stuff.  It kills all of the nostalgia for me, which is a big part of dragging out those old shows.

  17. Now that's something I want. Just made my purchase. Thanks!

Already down to 3 in stock at this point...

  18.  I thought it looked like a million bucks for WM 22.

  19. Would love to see a rant on the MITB show as part of the run up to next month's if there's a July PPV countdown... just to see if Scott agrees with Meltzer on the full monty for Punk/Cena.
