This guy made a video called Brooklyn Brawler: Domination. This is creative genius along the lines of the Braden Walker Hall of Fame DVD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQW37uJu3FI
I was thinking "Where is he gonna find footage of Brawler actually winning to end this thing?" and then I remembered the HHH match from Smackdown and it crossed the line into the greatest thing ever put on Youtube.
For some reason that headlock on Taker cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteI found this a few days ago. I don't know why the music cracks me up so much, but it does.
ReplyDeleteThis guy just put part 2 up, but it's not as good (he's beating up Tugboat).
The little dance he does after slamming HBK (near the end) is hilarious as well
ReplyDeleteHey, Part 2 also has him beating on such luminaries as the British Bulldog and Jimmy "Father of Tamina" Snuka.
ReplyDeleteNot really impressive considering the last time Tugboat went over, it was a 2x4.
ReplyDeleteThats classic. The music just puts it over the top
ReplyDeleteHad to check out that Braden Walker Hall of Fame, too....oh man, that's good stuff. Christ, why is Lombardi STILL employed? Is he Pat's wife or something?
ReplyDeleteYes, both of these I also noticed and was cracking up. That little dance is really fucking funny.
ReplyDeleteAnd you all say that Triple H won't put people over.
ReplyDeleteBTW the poster told me that's his theme music (I'm TheeBurchill on there). Anyone remember that as his theme?
ReplyDeleteI choked on my soda laughing at your comment.
ReplyDeleteThis is the one I meant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwyFABQX62A
ReplyDeleteNot the HOF, but the 3 disc set. Enjoy
Something I've always wondered from a kayfabe perspective: how did guys like Brawler keep their jobs? He averaged about one win every five years, so why would the WWF keep paying him? How would those business negotiations go?
ReplyDeletesee thats comedy.
ReplyDeleteAll i remember was "IN MY CORNER TO MY RIGHT... ACCOMPANIED BY BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN"..."
ReplyDeleteduh. he is the head of thier talking heads dept.
ReplyDeleteFan footage of Brooklyn Brawler vs Shawn Michaels for the WWF Championship in Madison Square Garden.

Featuring Brawler beating up all of DX at once, and a NASTY hurricanrana by Chyna!
I do remember at the time it happened people hated it saying that Triple H let Brawler pin him only because he was no threat to Triple H's spot and no one would remember it.
ReplyDeleteWhich, incidentally enough, another big wrestler said as the reason he did a job to a certain person and people always point to it as being unselfish. Sure it doesn't quite compare but hard not to compare.
Kayfabe wise, he would probably be seen as something like a sparring partner, someone who a guy could count on to get an easy win over, and Vince would want to keep someone around like that to help keep the babyfaces happy. Plus he had that Heenan contract, that had some clout. It's like Booker's preferred euphemism for Ryback's jobbers: "hand-picked opponents". A guy wins enough, he gets to pick out easy opponents for smaller shows to tune himself up.
ReplyDeleteThat's all kayfabe of course. In reality Lombardi has been one of Vince's right hands almost since he took over for Vince Sr.
And Brawler winning a squash match!

I'm still waiting for "The Best of Iron Mike Sharpe"
ReplyDeleteTotally unrelated, but I forgot what thread it was in and wanted to respond to something you said a couple days ago:
ReplyDeleteYour response to me saying I'm done if Punk/Bryan doesn't main event (having Bryan bribe someone for his match with Punk to go on first so he can leave the building and not get cashed in on at the end of the night): I actually love that idea.
I watched that match before and it's amazing how HBK treated Brawler as a genuine threat.
ReplyDeleteBrawler gets more offense in than all of Ryback's opponents combined.
ReplyDeleteUntil recently, it wasn't a "job" from a kayfabe perspective. Wrestlers weren't "employed" by a wrestling organization, they were contracted for matches and paid according to their won/loss record and placement on the card.
ReplyDeleteIt stands to reason that a guy like Brawler wasn't making much money as a wrestler. Carrying on like this for long would naturally dissuade most guys from continuing, but there's always that rare guy that both loves wrestling and is terrible at it, and Lombardi fit that mold.
This is downright amazing for a variety of reasons: First that Shawn even game Lombardi such a good match during that period of his super-douchery.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the footage here is more defined and the audio better than 90% of the videos you see on YouTube and this guy had to be using an old school actual VHS camera right? There was certainly nothing digital that was going to 11 minutes back then...this fucker snuck in a goddamn camcorder...lmao!
he also won a battle royal at MSG at some point (and got a title match against... Bret Hart?), but I don't think that was ever televised
ReplyDeleteHBK. You can find the title match on youtube, but I can't find the battle royal
