Blog Help Request

> Hi Scott,
>
> I hope that all is well. I know this isn't your bag, but currently working on re-launching a roleplay based online promotion, focusing on wrestling during the 1980s and 90s.

> I hope that you might plug it on the blog - perhaps some of your readers would be interested in participating. The (still bare) site is here: theuwa.blogspot.com

>
> The UWA is a roleplay based wrestling fantasy league. There is a weekly television show, as well as a calendar of ten pay per view events per calendar year. Roleplay is the key to the UWA, and your participation relies on sending one 'promo' per week as your selected wrestler. These promos are then 'scored' on a scale of 1-10, and your points factor into your booking. When booked against an opponent (for pay per view) your promos should focus on that match. The better your promos, the better your shot of rising to the top of the promotion!
>
> You can play as any wrestler you choose – though our focus is on the wrestling of the 1980s-1990s. Generally, anyone on the rosters of the WWF, WCW, or ECW between 1985-2000 are acceptable. You can play as a maximum of two wrestlers, or one single wrestler and a tag team. Currently, we have someone committed to play as Bret Hart. We need approx. ten people to properly re-launch.
>
> On average, participating in the UWA is about a thirty to sixty minute commitment per week – mostly spent on roleplaying, and reading shows.
>
> To inquire about membership, please e-mail HITMAN383@aol.com. The league is free – there is no cost to join or participate. Our goal is to re-launch by the end of May 2013.'

  1. First, thank you to Scott for posting this. It is
appreciated. It’s easy to find people to play, but quite difficult to find old
    school fans.

That said, I need to correct an error. The correct contact
info for anyone interested is EWFPager@aol.com

Thanks again. We had a lot of fun the last time around, and
I hope we can get off the ground again.

  2. I remember that I was in one of these around 1995 or 1996 but it was fantasy characters. I played a character called Kane, before the Glen Jacobs version was ever mentioned. His tag partner was Nightmare. They were occultish and wore masks.

I stopped playing because my promos were pretty brutal.

  3. We were around in 1995! I can't specifically remember whether or not anyone played as Kane (pre-fall 1997 - when a lot of people decided they wanted to be Kane), but who knows? Maybe you were our Kane?

We had lots of people play as fantasy characters last time around (Iceman! Razor Ron! The Hollywood Blonde!), but are probably going to focus on real 80s-90s guys this time out. Would be glad to have you aboard.

  4. I've never done one of these.

    How exactly does it work?

  5. Basically, if you joined, you would select a wrestler(s), and roleplay as them in promos to build towards shows, matches, titles, etc. To start, you would likely be booked for TV and/or pay per view, and would roleplay against your opponent. Think less '20 minute interviews' more 'promos with Sean Mooney.'

Once a week, everyone's promos are posted for the rest of the promotion to see/respond to in the next round. Everyone's promos are scored (for quality, realism within the character, etc), and the higher your score the better your chances at victory. Every Sunday the 'TV-show' posts with full match results, and there are ten 'pay per views' per year. There's a bit more to it, but that's a general summation.

Our goal is to keep it fun, and manageable for everyone. More info is available at theuwa.blogspot.com - and I would be happy to answer any other questions.
