Return of the Z

Maybe Zack and Curt can reform the Edgeheads?

  1. Better solution would be to turn him heel, have him steal AJ from Dolph Ziggler, and play him up as the social media-themed heel. Tormenting Cena and Dolph with photos of their respective gal pal with him, humiliating viral videos mocking Cena and Dolph, and basically making their lives hell in terms of turning Zack into an internet troll type uber villain, with AJ as his cliched hot but psycho girlfriend. Think Anonymous or Pre-Shit Reddit Says Infection Something Awful.

Plus, I'm sure Cena would be jump at the angle, it since it means he can bitch and moan about the internet hating him every week while allowing Zack new material to work with for his internet stuff in terms of allowing him to do his show from the POV of a heel. And god knows it would be less humiliating than being someone who gets the shit kicked out of him while Cena yawns and makes out with his crush.

(Oh and Langston and Ryder can also feud with Kane and Bryan, since Ryder has unfinished business with Kane)

  2. Zack Ryder as evil TMZ. That's...not bad.

    Did I just get Baked?

  3. Well, it was 4/20.

  4. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, and Jesse just spun some pretty decent booking

    ReplyDelete
  5. Zack couldn't even act scared of Kane... and you want him to have a complex angle?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Jesus for a second I thought it was the return of Larry Zbyszko. Sheer terror.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yep. Hitler's birthday.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Just give it up, Zack. Just try and make it on Jersey Shore.

    ReplyDelete
  9. The main problem with this is that it involves Zack Ryder, and Zack Ryder sucks.

  10. When jobbers turn heel.

TUNE INTO NITRO TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

  11. In all seriousness, he should become the Raven of this era. It could be decent or a complete disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Mr. Ryder was quoted as saying, "I'd love to work with Cena again. It was pretty amazing the last time."

    ReplyDelete
  13. Didn't Ryder get his revenge on Kane already on one of those Smackdown battle royales?

    ReplyDelete
  14. And that's the end of that chapter *flicks scarf*

    ReplyDelete
  15. Zack Ryder is the best example of how WWE doesn't know how to book or "write" for the mid card anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Heel turn wouldn't be a bad idea, but I have no faith they'll do anything interesting with it. It'll be as generic as they come, and he'll stay buried as a result. And they don't HAVE to turn him, it's not a natural progression at all. WE WANTED TO CHEER HIM, YOU STUPID DELUDED FUCKS.

    ReplyDelete
  17. His last sliver of "over-ness" is that he sells sunglasses and headbands on occasion. A heel turn could be great but he'd be shuttled out for good months later imo.

  18. Zack Ryder is living proof that PPV doesnt matter anymore.

Look at Zach. He has 4 pieces of merch

    -shirt

    -foam hand

    -glasses

-headband/hair combo (ill count as one)

Im gonna go out on a limb that none of those items are less than 10 bucks. He has on 40 bucks (at least) worth of merch and it sells... It probably doesnt sell like it was when he was hot, but he sells enough to keep getting merch.

he has the price of a ppv, with a substantial amount of re-wear value. (sans the hair /hand gimmick ) as opposed to a ppv that's more than likely gonna be unfavorable... at the least under promoted, rushed and ultimately forgettable.

if im wwe, and i see the ppv going down and the merch numbers going up, id put my energies into merch... and focus on the big shows. Wrestlemania.

zach ryder is a jobber with 4 pcs of merch. think about cena/mysterio or hhh/dx and the amounts they had... or the hardyz in their heyday.

i wouldnt care about ppv either.

  19. Cena can't sell a loss and he's WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  20. This is a cool idea that if you pitched it to Vince he'd squash it in record time. They are determined to bury this guy forever.

    ReplyDelete
  21. This is pretty damn good.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Winning the U.S. title for a week is not getting a pay off. I hope he doesn't renew his contract and goes and learns how to work in Japan and comes back in a year or two. He could make a ton of money doing his shtick in Japan I think.

    ReplyDelete
  23. And he sees roughly 0% of those sales.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Cena/Ryder headlining a PPV would make zero dollars, but I'd watch, dammit!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Shame Ryback is already running with the angle tailor made for Zack.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Zack actually started his shtick almost a year before the Jersey Shore came out.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Being sloppy and dangerous in the ring?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Does he not? I always thought that was the deal with merch sales? Or did they curtail that after Austin made enough money to quit whenever he wanted?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Being friends with Cena puts you in Cena's shadow angle.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm too lazy to check...was this on the WWE Channel or Zach's personal one?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I actually love this idea. Jericho already experimented with a troll character but Ryder would do that writ large and actually use the internet to his advantage. It's an original idea for a character and (since most of the fanbase hates WWE's social media nonsense anyway) it'll definitely get over as heelish.

Of course, Ryder's turn probably just means that now he'll do two-minute jobs to Kofi and Truth rather than to Barrett or Cesaro....that is, if Ryder gets on TV at all.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think the WWE channel is no more.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Absolutely. The guy busted his ass to get over, but because he wasn't HHH/Vince's creation, he did not get pushed. I'm not saying the guy should have headlined PPVs, but he could have been fantastic for the mid-card.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Stick him in the Guy Fawkes mask that Anonymous uses, do a shtick where he's "hacking" into wrestlers personal details and it's all a big "who is doing this?" and then reveal it's Ryder...

    ReplyDelete
  35. WHY DIDN'T YOU ROLL THIS OUT LIKE LAST JANUARY?!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm drawing on a blank on it, but within WWE canon were they even technically dating? It seemed like an implied crush on Ryder's end and Eve was completely obvlious.
    Defending Cena feels weird......
