A threadjack I know, but anybody wanna talk about the NBA playoffs?
Lakers and Boston just about done, Westbrook is out the rest of the playoffs, other injuries to important players in Denver and Chicago and Miami playing at full strength amidst it all is going to make for a very underwhelming playoffs IMO.
I don't have anything against Miami, but I hope the Knicks (or whoever makes it to the ECF) can somehow knock them off and give us a competitive NBA Finals.
I really haven't paid too much attention to the playoffs. The only basketball I watch is during the Finals. Being a Bay Area guy, though, I have been watching the Warriors' series and it's been pretty exciting stuff. I don't watch enough to know their chances but I'm rooting for them.
haha, yeah that was a great game. I think they'll be some good games, I just think when it's all said and done that it's going to be a very mediocre playoffs, but hopefully the later series will be more competitive than they appear.
My theory is, could be wrong, but the NBA is milking every series to go as long as they possibly can. Refs control the majority of each game. If they can keep the game close, they will. If they can get stars further in the playoffs, they will. The Spurs are easy team to look at and see a team that is in the top 3 in regular season record absolutely destroying teams then magically in the playoffs, they stink. The stars in the league get away with obvious traveling, double dribbling, and get a ton of free throws. I can't stand watching a sport where referees can literally put points on the board for any team they want to. It's all about the $ I suppose.
I don't think there is an agenda personally, but you're entitled to your opinion.
The Spurs, who have always been a low ratings, small market team have won a zillion titles too, with a seven game series against Detroit in one of the lowest scoring NBA finals ever (which was a great series btw for fans who like that sort of grind it out game).
I put about as much stock into the NBA conspiracy theories as I do the Illuminati and all that stuff personally -- not much.
Yeah, they are a lot of fun to watch, but they definitely have some glaring deficiencies that'll make it tough to go all the way, but I bet they'll make a deep run. I was thinking Denver had a chance to go really far too, but they've been hurt by injures as well.
Spurs have won four titles. None since 2007 when they destroyed the Cavs. They have finished with the best overall record in 4 out of 5 seasons yet only made it to one conference title in that time period. Just calling a spade a spade. Lebron/Wade, Durant/Westbrook, Kobe Bryant, Pierce/Rondo/Garnett = $$$$$$. Duncan/Parker/Ginobli = ZZZ.
I suppose it's possible, NBA games are easy to rig if you're a ref, look at that Donahey (sp?) guy. I don't watch enough basketball to really have an opinion on if you're right or wrong here.
It's the deficiencies that make them fun to watch, that's kinda why I like them. "Fuck it, we ain't winning shit because we're the Clippers, but at least we can put on an entertaining product."
Yeah my favorite playoff run ever was the 1995 Houston Rockets, who are the only team ever to make it all the way from the 6th seed.
They had a lot of issues too, but also an all-time great peaking at just the right time and they somehow managed to just pull out games, usually in the last few moments. It was an unbelievable thing to watch at the time.
it was never more apparent as when they tried to make lebron the "villain" of the nba and shoot for a lakers/heat final.... hoping kobe vanquishes the evil heat.
oh... and why the fuck did the cavs re-hire mike brown as their coach?
I like what the Brownies did. They still need a legit TE, at least one more OL & we've got to hope that Weeden makes some serious strides this year. It would also hope if our owner doesn't get indicted and have to sell the franchise...
Except Jones is a better wrestler, bigger than him and almost assuredly stronger. Plus in order for this strategy to work he has to win a decision; Chael is not a finisher. I don't like his odds of surviving 25 minutes with Jones even if he gets takedowns periodically.
This is basically the worst matchup possible for Chael. He's got roughly 2 hours left in his career as a draw.
Yeah, but he's pretty set up for a career as a commentator/analyst once he stops fighting. He already works all the Fox/FuelTV shows, so this fight is probably just one last paycheck before he transitions to that full time.
I liked it. First time I watched it and ever since. But that was the first WWF PPV I ever watched with a group of people so it's special to me. Everyone else was rooting for Austin and I was the lone Taker fan. Will never forget the roar when Austin hit that Stunner. The taste of defeat.
Didn't Austin knock himself out early in the match when he and Taker bumped heads?
NBA conspiracy theories are ridiculous. People used to call the Spurs the San Antonio Sterns because they got so many calls. It has nothing to do with rigging or ratings, just a simple fact of basketball. At the top level of basketball, the game is literally broken. Superstar players cannot be guarded legally. It has nothing to do with modern ruleset or "no hand checks" or whatever. Shaq, Lebron etc are literally impossible to guard. Watching foreign refs try to officiate NBA players and not call fouls is jarring. That's not basketball, that's just bad reffing.
More skilled players and mathematicians have figured this out. Statistically the free throw is the best basketball play. 2nd best is the tip in. 3rd best is the 3 pointer. Good players have figured this out and try to game the system by creating fouls. There is no conspiracy to push Lebron, he's just too good and now that he has stats guys in his ears, all he does is play percentages. Same with Duncan/Ginobili. There was no Stern edict to push Duncan/Ginobili, in their primes they had certain things that were unguardable and because they had a great coach they pushed their edge including semi-dirty edges (Horry bodychecking Nash to get the Suns suspended). Duncan is too old to use his up and under that was a guaranteed 6FTA a night and Ginobili is too broken down to use the Euro-step as well as he used to. It's not that they're being depushed, they just can't do the things that used to be easy money.
I think people would respect the NBA better if they realized that drawing fouls is a skill and has been since about 1991 or so and the best players actively practice this skill while the best coaches teach it.
That is pretty disappointing. Their chemistry fell off a cliff after 1998. With a conscious Austin Summerslam could have been great instead of really good. That legdrop is still epic. But damn that build was awesome. And the ladder match too. When is the last time Scott ranted on SS 1998?
Be careful or you'll make Matt Hughes come out of retirement. I think more UFC fighters should use a constant entrance song. It's always a good feeling when DMX kicks in and you know the GOAT is about to kick ass.
I don't think anyone could develop as fast as Jones. It's an absolute anomaly that he got as good as he did so quick. I saw him beat Stephan Bonnar at 94 and became a fan but never in my wildest dreams did I think he'd get so great.
Can anyone put up a competitive fight with Jones? Belfort almost had him. Davis' wrestling pedigree you'd think could give Jones trouble but he didn't have trouble with Rashad.
True, but you can say that about just about anyone except maybe Anderson Silva. Roy is a black belt in ju-jitsu and he hits really hard, so who knows what would happen. Would be one of the few guys not really over-sized by Jones.
Ridiculously awful angle. Ridiculously awesome poster. They should totally have Undertaker possess some wrestler when he retires. Dress him up in the garb and call him Undertaker.
It fits with WWE canon! He can keep moving from wrestler to wrestler like in that Denzel movie where the dead serial killer would leap from person to person.
Chael said he was welcome to walk him out, but didn't think he would. Said Dana hooked Punk up with ringside seats. And yeah, if he loses, he totally has to come to WWE and form a faction with Punk, Brock, and Heyman.
For a less mentioned one, the poster for Halloween Havoc 1991 was always one of my favorites. Pretty simple, but effective and captures the mood well I think!
Damn referee's should stop treating fighters like children. I get not letting them get too brutalized or unreasonably hurt when they are out...but actually LET them get hurt or damaged first. He was in trouble but he was covering up and defending himself. This ain't ballet.
He was covering up. Plus it's a fight. You can just say "uh-oh Chael could get knocked out I'd better stop it" It's a fight. You can't just assume he will get knocked out with 30 seconds left.
That's what fighters do IN THE MOMENT. I've seen completely dazed fighters "disagree" with a stopage. After he had a few seconds to compose himself, he realized it was done and he said so.
Only thing I don't like about that one is it looks like Shawn Michaels face is pasted in as they aren't really looking at each other, as opposed to the Hogan/Slaughter poster where they are in the same room haha
I don't think Sonnen got robbed. But it's not like he was getting brutalized for 5 minutes before the referee stopped it. He was getting hit, yes, but give him a chance to make a move out of it. He didn't go limp, he didn't stop protecting himself.
One thing I noticed when looking at all these posters, all of the newer ones are just generic shots of one guy. With the old posters, it's promoting the big matches. Probably because they didn't wait until the week of the PPV to come up with a main event.
You saw his face, right? The right thing to do is to stop a fight when a fighter is just laying there covering their face. He took some really hard shots, had his nose broken, his eye shut and really, it was over.
It's referee and doctor's discretion to stop the fight. Whoever DOESN'T stop the fight loses their license on Monday. So basically if they didn't stop the fight there, Chael would be champion on 1st round TKO.
No it's not. The bar at which ID is set is above covering up, which might be classified as 'life preservation'. That's beer been enough to keep a fight going.
People have fought through broken noses before. Again, I'm not saying let him get pulverized forever but look at the Lesnar/Carwin fight. Lesnar got his ass kicked for 5 straight minutes and was in more dire straights than Sonnen was. But he came back and won.
Yeah, they were way more on top of that stuff back in the day. Cable companies not so much though -- they actually had to be careful when they'd send them out, because the providers would occasionally run the print advertisement early or mix up events and inadvertently give out details about title switches and such ahead of time.
But he was and that's why the fight was stopped. A couple more shots to the head and a few more elbows and God knows wtf would've happened to him. I always steer towards protecting fighters, rather than letting them go limp before stopping a fight, even a title fight.
Conspiracy theory. Do you think the ref noticed the toe and called the fight there? I don't think it's a horrible stoppage but do you think the ref noticed his foot was mangled and figured "roll up, fast count, get outta town"?
And the refereed should've stopped that fight. You're playing the result. What if Brock would've suffered a dehabilitating injury because it wasn't stopped?
From that position all you can do is cover up and ride it out. Most refs can tell the difference between turtling and trying to survive a round. This one couldn't.
Nah the ref had no reason to stop Brock/Carwin. If you look at that fight Carwin was doing an excellent job beating up Brock's biceps and shoulders after the initial rush. The ref was watching it closely and noticed not much going through. Then Carwin landed 3-4 hard shots and the ref moved in but Brock started defending himself after that and he backed off.
In this case, Jones was throwing hard and they were getting through as you could see by how bad his face looked right when the ref pulled Jones off of him. You can debate on whether enough damage had been done but clearly he was landing whereas for 2+ minutes in the Brock fight there weren't many actual landed blows and Carwin was just blowing his wad.
Let's play it out and see where it goes.
ReplyDeleteThe Godfather shall ponder it.
ReplyDeleteA threadjack I know, but anybody wanna talk about the NBA playoffs?
ReplyDeleteLakers and Boston just about done, Westbrook is out the rest of the playoffs, other injuries to important players in Denver and Chicago and Miami playing at full strength amidst it all is going to make for a very underwhelming playoffs IMO.
I don't have anything against Miami, but I hope the Knicks (or whoever makes it to the ECF) can somehow knock them off and give us a competitive NBA Finals.
That Nets/Bulls game was fucking wild. Too bad the Bulls won.
ReplyDeleteI really haven't paid too much attention to the playoffs. The only basketball I watch is during the Finals. Being a Bay Area guy, though, I have been watching the Warriors' series and it's been pretty exciting stuff. I don't watch enough to know their chances but I'm rooting for them.
ReplyDeleteNBA is rigged. Heat vs. Thunder Part II with Westbrook's triumphant return only to lose again because he is a ballhog.
ReplyDeleteWhat does that have to do with the Nets game?
ReplyDeleteMore than you think.
ReplyDeleteYeah the Warriors have definitely been a bright spot so far.
ReplyDeletehaha, yeah that was a great game. I think they'll be some good games, I just think when it's all said and done that it's going to be a very mediocre playoffs, but hopefully the later series will be more competitive than they appear.
ReplyDeleteWestbrook is shut down officially I think for the rest of the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteExplain. I only started watching the NBA a few years ago and I'm a casual fan at most.
ReplyDeleteI will be extremely surprised if Chael doesn't get finished in impressive fashion once again.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is, could be wrong, but the NBA is milking every series to go as long as they possibly can. Refs control the majority of each game. If they can keep the game close, they will. If they can get stars further in the playoffs, they will. ReplyDeleteThanks, Pal.

I hate UFC. It's evil. So so so so eeeevil
ReplyDeleteShawn Michaels is a Spurs fan. I have nothing else to add. Just wanted to add something to the conversation. :(
ReplyDeleteNah.
ReplyDeleteI'm pulling for the Clippers, because of the Buffalo connection plus their fun as hell to watch. They didn't look too good today though.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they are a lot of fun to watch, but they definitely have some glaring deficiencies that'll make it tough to go all the way, but I bet they'll make a deep run. I was thinking Denver had a chance to go really far too, but they've been hurt by injures as well.
ReplyDeleteAnyone see this cool poster for the fight tonight?
ReplyDeleteHe has a winning strategy. If he can bull rush and wrestle Jones, I think he's got a shot.
ReplyDeleteSpurs have won four titles.
ReplyDeleteHis best bet is getting Jones tired, which could happen. I just think he has a very narrow path to victory, while Jon has many.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it's possible, NBA games are easy to rig if you're a ref, look at that Donahey (sp?) guy. I don't watch enough basketball to really have an opinion on if you're right or wrong here.
ReplyDeleteDude that Spurs/Pistons final was atrocious. 70-point games in the NBA Finals? Just unwatchable, IMO.
ReplyDeleteTo each their own haha. I loved the styles of both teams, fantastic defense, really even matchup. And lots of Rasheed Wallace!
ReplyDeleteIt's the deficiencies that make them fun to watch, that's kinda why I like them. "Fuck it, we ain't winning shit because we're the Clippers, but at least we can put on an entertaining product."
ReplyDeleteReally dude?
ReplyDeleteRe-enforces how much WWE posters suck nowadays.
ReplyDeleteYeah my favorite playoff run ever was the 1995 Houston Rockets, who are the only team ever to make it all the way from the 6th seed.
ReplyDeleteThey had a lot of issues too, but also an all-time great peaking at just the right time and they somehow managed to just pull out games, usually in the last few moments. It was an unbelievable thing to watch at the time.
Jones via split dec. btw
ReplyDeletehaha I love it!
ReplyDeletei absolutely agree with you.
ReplyDeleteit was never more apparent as when they tried to make lebron the "villain" of the nba and shoot for a lakers/heat final.... hoping kobe vanquishes the evil heat.
oh... and why the fuck did the cavs re-hire mike brown as their coach?
we just wanna lose.
Well, it's not working this year that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteHey Fuj, who do you think would riot harder if their city finally won something, Cleveland or Buffalo?
ReplyDeletewell since we thread-jacking:
ReplyDeletehow did everybody like the nfl draft (if you watched or read the report)
i think my browns got some studs, but went a lil too defensive minded.
we dont have a hockey team, but hockey fans imo are second to soccer fans in terms of craziness, so id give it to buffalo.
ReplyDeletecleveland would tear shit up... but buffalo would probably go apeshit crazy
Chicago drove me nuts until the forth round. Felt like they reached in the first and second and didn't need to.
ReplyDeleteSteelers got guys they needed. We'll see if they pan out.
ReplyDeleteI didn't pay attention because fuck the Raiders.
ReplyDeleteOn the subject of tonight's fights, the women delivered another exciting fight tonight. 3 for 3 in exciting fights.
ReplyDeleteWe're not crazy, we're just drunk. And I get the feeling we'd disappoint everybody as far tearing shit up goes.
ReplyDeleteVery happy they went with McFadden over Honey Badger
ReplyDeleteIt made Meltzer a midcarder
ReplyDeleteMatt Barkley fucked up by not coming out last year.
ReplyDeleteStill not following.
ReplyDeleteScrew the UFC 159 poster, THIS is a muthafuckin' poster!

ReplyDeleteIf you figure he would have gone top 10 how much pure guaranteed money did he lose? 10 million? Maybe more than that?
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, he's on the Eagles so if he can play he'll get his chance eventually. Hope he can bring the goods for his sake.
I like what the Brownies did. They still need a legit TE, at least one more OL & we've got to hope that Weeden makes some serious strides this year. It would also hope if our owner doesn't get indicted and have to sell the franchise...

Austin/Taker should have been soooooo much better.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but he's pretty set up for a career as a commentator/analyst once he stops fighting. He already works all the Fox/FuelTV shows, so this fight is probably just one last paycheck before he transitions to that full time.
ReplyDeleteI liked it. First time I watched it and ever since. But that was the first WWF PPV I ever watched with a group of people so it's special to me. Everyone else was rooting for Austin and I was the lone Taker fan. Will never forget the roar when Austin hit that Stunner. The taste of defeat.

Rest in Piece.

Yeah, pretty sure he wrestled the rest of the match loopy. That's what I mean about it potentially being a lot better.
ReplyDeleteJim Miller with the early walkout music of the night. Gonna be tough to beat "Bad Moon Rising"
ReplyDeleteNBA conspiracy theories are ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteMore skilled players and mathematicians have figured this out.

Thank you sir! My favorite Summerslam of all the times.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Can't believe Miller got finished. Might have been a quick stoppage.
ReplyDeleteNah he was out. I agree with Rogan, he came back pretty quick but he didn't respond to the ref's test.
ReplyDeleteMiller got finished? I'm surprised I figured he'd roll.

ReplyDeleteIt sucks Phil Davis hasn't developed as fast as Jones. Was hoping that would be UFC's next great rivalry.
ReplyDeleteis he duck-facing?
ReplyDeletewhat a fag.
I don't think anyone could develop as fast as Jones. It's an absolute anomaly that he got as good as he did so quick. I saw him beat Stephan Bonnar at 94 and became a fan but never in my wildest dreams did I think he'd get so great.

ReplyDeleteJesus, even Cena thinks this is taking pandering too far.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame Nelson won't take his nutrition and fitness serious, because if he were to get in shape and drop to LHW he could be a force.
ReplyDeleteThat referee looks like he has seem some dark days.
ReplyDeleteI hope this isn't 3 rounds of one guy pinning the other guy against the cage.

ReplyDeleteIf Chael loses, I hope he retires and goes to WWE.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Punk in attendance? Did they show him at all tonight?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering the same thing. I read he was going to be in his locker, but I didn't see him walk out with Chael.
ReplyDeleteJones look ridiculously relaxed out there. Like he is on his way to get an Ice Cream cone.
ReplyDeleteMe too. But the dude is solid upper-mid card
ReplyDeleteChael said he was welcome to walk him out, but didn't think he would. Said Dana hooked Punk up with ringside seats. And yeah, if he loses, he totally has to come to WWE and form a faction with Punk, Brock, and Heyman.
ReplyDeleteHe stole that from Sandow! He's enlightened!
ReplyDeleteJones never looks his opponent in the eye.
ReplyDeleteTerrible stoppage.
ReplyDeleteHuh?
ReplyDeleteIf you expected anything other than that...you haven't been paying attention
ReplyDelete*LOVE* that one too. One of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteFor a less mentioned one, the poster for Halloween Havoc 1991 was always one of my favorites. Pretty simple, but effective and captures the mood well I think!

haha, nice way of working that in
ReplyDeleteDamn referee's should stop treating fighters like children. I get not letting them get too brutalized or unreasonably hurt when they are out...but actually LET them get hurt or damaged first. He was in trouble but he was covering up and defending himself. This ain't ballet.
ReplyDeleteYou don't stop a title fight with 30 seconds left in a round unless a guy was in serious trouble. Sonnen wasn't.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of the ridiculous amount of colors for my posters and cover art in general it would seem.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteSoo... WTF happened to Jones' toe?
ReplyDeleteI look at Josh Rosenthal in the Lesnar/Carwin fight as the template for referee'ing in a title fight.
ReplyDeleteCome on. Chael was not defending himself and it was clear where things were headed.
ReplyDeleteI have always dug this one too, the original ad for Vader vs Sid Vicious at Starrcade 1993.

Chael was covering up, and again only 30 seconds left. If it was 4 minutes left? It's a fine stoppage.
ReplyDeleteI came in to ask just that. WTF? That thing was pointing in another direction. Sick.
ReplyDeleteHe was covering up. Plus it's a fight. You can just say "uh-oh Chael could get knocked out I'd better stop it" It's a fight. You can't just assume he will get knocked out with 30 seconds left.
ReplyDeleteWould have made the rest of the fight a hell of a lot more interesting. Do they stop it inbetween rounds?
ReplyDeleteChael disagrees with you. Broken nose, closed eye...correct stopage.
ReplyDeleteI prefer this Vader poster.

They can.
ReplyDeleteChael immediately protested when it was stopped.
ReplyDeleteSomebody made this as a custom cover for the WrestleMania 6 DVD, it's a nice homage to the original cover and has some nice touches

That's what fighters do IN THE MOMENT. I've seen completely dazed fighters "disagree" with a stopage. After he had a few seconds to compose himself, he realized it was done and he said so.
ReplyDeleteI know they can, but would they have? That was fucking nasty. I don't see how Jones would have been able to continue.
ReplyDeleteCovering up is not intelligent defense. And it doesn't matter how much time is left in a round ( though, as a fan, I get the frustration)
ReplyDeleteYeah, they probably would've stopped it and it would've been a travesty. Chael doesn't belong in the same league as Jones.
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I don't like about that one is it looks like Shawn Michaels face is pasted in as they aren't really looking at each other, as opposed to the Hogan/Slaughter poster where they are in the same room haha
ReplyDeleteThe back cover is awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt is, the same picture of Michaels is used a ton on 1996 posters.
ReplyDeleteCovering up is not an intelligent defense? So he is supposed to let him hit him?
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure what you're arguing here, that Sonnen got robbed? He said the stoppage was fine, what more do you need?
ReplyDeleteI love that shot of the crowd
ReplyDeleteI don't think Sonnen got robbed. But it's not like he was getting brutalized for 5 minutes before the referee stopped it. He was getting hit, yes, but give him a chance to make a move out of it. He didn't go limp, he didn't stop protecting himself.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I noticed when looking at all these posters, all of the newer ones are just generic shots of one guy. With the old posters, it's promoting the big matches. Probably because they didn't wait until the week of the PPV to come up with a main event.
ReplyDeletehttp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6e/97poster.jpg
You saw his face, right? The right thing to do is to stop a fight when a fighter is just laying there covering their face. He took some really hard shots, had his nose broken, his eye shut and really, it was over.
ReplyDeleteJones is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Chael, but I'll give Sonnen credit, he looked way better than I thought he would.
ReplyDeleteIt's referee and doctor's discretion to stop the fight. Whoever DOESN'T stop the fight loses their license on Monday. So basically if they didn't stop the fight there, Chael would be champion on 1st round TKO.
ReplyDeleteNo it's not. The bar at which ID is set is above covering up, which might be classified as 'life preservation'. That's beer been enough to keep a fight going.
ReplyDeleteReally? I thought Jones was toying with him. Like he said in the post-fight, he out-Chael'd Chael.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying he robbed, but it's a title fight with only 30 seconds left. Chael wasn't in serious trouble.
ReplyDeletePeople have fought through broken noses before. Again, I'm not saying let him get pulverized forever but look at the Lesnar/Carwin fight. Lesnar got his ass kicked for 5 straight minutes and was in more dire straights than Sonnen was. But he came back and won.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they were way more on top of that stuff back in the day. Cable companies not so much though -- they actually had to be careful when they'd send them out, because the providers would occasionally run the print advertisement early or mix up events and inadvertently give out details about title switches and such ahead of time.
ReplyDeleteBut he was and that's why the fight was stopped. A couple more shots to the head and a few more elbows and God knows wtf would've happened to him. I always steer towards protecting fighters, rather than letting them go limp before stopping a fight, even a title fight.
ReplyDeleteConspiracy theory. Do you think the ref noticed the toe and called the fight there? I don't think it's a horrible stoppage but do you think the ref noticed his foot was mangled and figured "roll up, fast count, get outta town"?
ReplyDeleteAnd the refereed should've stopped that fight. You're playing the result. What if Brock would've suffered a dehabilitating injury because it wasn't stopped?
ReplyDeleteWaiting for the Bret Hart jokes in 3...2...1...
ReplyDeleteFrom that position all you can do is cover up and ride it out. Most refs can tell the difference between turtling and trying to survive a round. This one couldn't.
ReplyDeleteNah the ref had no reason to stop Brock/Carwin.
ReplyDeleteIn this case, Jones was throwing hard and they were getting through as you could see by how bad his face looked right when the ref pulled Jones off of him. You can debate on whether enough damage had been done but clearly he was landing whereas for 2+ minutes in the Brock fight there weren't many actual landed blows and Carwin was just blowing his wad.
Chael stand up looked good.
