I don't like Jason Powell's site. He seems like he is way behind in reporting and updating wrestling news. I thought the rating was going to be atrocious for Impact from what I was reading and they ended up doing slightly better. For whatever reason, I was curious as hell to see what game 1 of Heat vs Spurs did in the ratings and it did an amazing number. NBA is alive and well in this country!
No shit, though it just really comes from the fact that Raw gets 3X what Impact does. I don't even see why the ratings are even posted on the news sites anymore, really.
I wonder how the ratings are are hockey-friendly markets, is there any way to look that up? Because you know one outside of the Northeast. Upper Midwest, and L.A. is watching it, and I doubt that the ratings in L.A. are that great.
I'm not sure how embarrassing it is go up a .1 rating point, going against a Finals game (starting the same minute as Impact) that drew a 10.6, in a new time slot.
It's not as if they had much time to, you know, promote the fact that he was coming to TNA. If he's going to "move the needle" at all, it's not going to happen until it sinks into like, MMA people's minds.
If it does at all. Which it probably won't. But maybe he'll turn out to be a good wrestler, who knows.
Isn't that bad going against the NBA Finals considering Raws ratings went down alot vs. the eastern conference finals...Rampage has gotten them publicity since his debut. I actually saw the Rampage segment featured on worldstarhiphop.com which is a first.
This is a question I've wanted to ask: Isn't Spike in far less outlets than USA Network? I mean what is the highest conceivable rating that Impact can get at that timeslot?
no. Spike is on the basic cable package for dish, directv, at&T, and every cable system I've ever seen. I don't think there is any appreciable difference between availability. Now there is a difference in channel placement. As I've noted in a couple other threads, Spike got banished to channel purgatory on Dish while USA occupies a prime position at the start of the guide next to Comedy Central and TV land. Not sure how their channel placement is on other systems, but my guess is that USA has a generally better placement.
I think what it may show is that TNA's audience is built on a more hardcore, dedicated fan, while Raw has more casuals that come and go based on other events both on TV and their own outings.
I think the newer ones probably don't have it up high, old school cable providers like time warner still give it prime positioning from when it was still TNN. Especially out in the sticks. It's 33 on my lineup, USA is 15.
I sometimes think wrestling fans for some odd reason care more about ratings than the networks and companies. For example, I wouldn't be surprised if WWE made more money from advertising now than they did at the height of their ratings boom simply because most advertisers wanted nothing to do with WWE during the Attitude Era.
They're lucky they can fall back on the fact that for the next month NBA Finals games are gonna be on Thursdays as a reason for the shit ratings.

ReplyDeleteI saw that the hockey game last night did 2.1 million viewers, if memory serves me.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who thinks there is anything wrong with TNA's viewership really, really doesn't understand how today's Cable TV industry works.
ReplyDeletedo ratings even matter anymore? there will always be some sponsor willing to get in on things.
ReplyDeletei also wonder if behind the scenes big names like sting and hogan who claim to love tna invest in it to help keep it going
Canadian Threadjack : Don Cherry's suit has actually given me a headache.
ReplyDeleteEvery intermission talking about Crosby, who's done nothing, is making me nauseous.
ReplyDeletein soviet blog of doom you serve memory

ReplyDeleteMan, Crosby's lost his smile more times than Shawn Michaels has.

ReplyDeleteNice.
ReplyDeleteGood shit...
ReplyDeleteher eyes look a lil off in that pic but id still be on the fast track of beating that pussy up for 2 reasons.
ReplyDelete1. MILF
2. Money mark. im sure i can give her some "good" for her to support the Fuj Foundation
Canada.
ReplyDelete"1. MILF"
ReplyDeleteYou had me right there.
Well, of course, but Canada doesn't count in the ratings.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how embarrassing it is go up a .1 rating point, going against a Finals game (starting the same minute as Impact) that drew a 10.6, in a new time slot.
ReplyDeleteWe count in *our* ratings!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I am not alone here... I've wanted to wear her out for quite some time
ReplyDeleteHow does the NBA do up there?
ReplyDeletebeating up rich white pussy is like "Momma I made it"
ReplyDeleteBlack American Dream... not polka dots.
Don't you understand? Ratings tell you what it's OK to like.
ReplyDeleteIt's that way with wrestling, and for everything 13-year-old girls like.
If you don't like what has the biggest ratings, how will you know that you're liking the right thing?
It would probably be stripes instead right? Because you know, prison...
ReplyDeleteI'll show myself out...
Dougie?
ReplyDeleteAt least we won't have to hear about it on ESPN for the rest of the Summer.
ReplyDeleteI guess maybe the thought was that Rampage didn't really move the needle much.
ReplyDeleteI dunno. As I've said in these comments, to the point of being warned about it, basketball sucks.
ReplyDeleteAnd the CFL starts in 3 weeks babay! FOOTBALL!

ReplyDeleteMexican American Dream 2.....also no polka dots
ReplyDeleteclapping.gif
ReplyDeleteEven they don't want Tebow...
ReplyDeleteAt this point, his best option would be to start his own football league.
ReplyDeleteDon't. I laughed.
ReplyDeleteHer and Jane Seymour.
ReplyDeleteit'll be the CFL
ReplyDeleteChristian... yadda yadda
Looks more like sarcasm to me.
ReplyDeleteI'd realign her eyes from repeated backshots.
ReplyDeleteThis is a question I've wanted to ask: Isn't Spike in far less outlets than USA Network? I mean what is the highest conceivable rating that Impact can get at that timeslot?
ReplyDeleteIf they don't then it will be Tiger. Just be glad that Tebow's career is all but over at this point.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that, though here in my market it's availble in every cable/satellite provider's most basic package. So I don't really know.
ReplyDeleteThe game didn't start until 9. TNA had the first hour unopposed
ReplyDeleteI always love USA vs Canada battles. We need a Craig sager vs don cherry suit off.
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing lots and lots of "kings fans" with the flags on their cars out here.
ReplyDeleteImpact moved back to 9 last week.

ReplyDeleteI'm a dummy
ReplyDeleteI have at&t u-verse and spike is buried worse than Zack Ryder. I literally have to use the key word search function to find impact
ReplyDeleteI very much agree with that, and I really think TNA is doing good for spike...but aces and .08's is just a great cheap shot joke to make
ReplyDeleteBasketball was invented in Canada, they love it up there.
ReplyDeleteI think the newer ones probably don't have it up high, old school cable providers like time warner still give it prime positioning from when it was still TNN. Especially out in the sticks. It's 33 on my lineup, USA is 15.
ReplyDeleteUgh no. Raven hit that shit. I dont want anything that's had Raven in it, that dude's crabs have herpes.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't love it in Vancouver, though to be fair it's hard to love 20-wins-a-year basketball.
ReplyDeleteyou better have a story or link brah
ReplyDeleteWait...you guys are black??
ReplyDeleteIt is. I wanna say it is like in the 40's on the most carried cable networks.

ReplyDeleteRumor was she used a little special negotiation in signing him to a contract. Or at least that's how he tells it.
ReplyDeletethe timeline doesnt seem right to me.
ReplyDeleteWhattayou talking about the Grizzlies were in the Western Finals this year. Oh wait
