WWE Shows at Fairgrounds

Hello Mr. Keith.  A video you had on your wall not too long ago, and the comment you made about it, where the ring was outside on the grass and it was a safer bumping area for them, got me thinking....

Since the look of a wwe show is as stale as it has ever been, maybe a simple Raw or Smackdown in the summer Fair season, most likely at a Giant Known State Fairgrounds(Texas or NY), I think is an Idea worth exploring.  Besides the throwback to the Territory Days having these kind of shows, plenty of families(kids!) go to these fairs, and just the visual of a Match taking place with the Midway lit up at night in the background would be worth it.  Waddya think?

Sidenote: Wargames dvd review coming?  Keep up the good work and thank you

I've been saying for a while they should do ANYTHING differently.  A fairground would be awesome, like in the old JCP Bash days, or in a train station like the first few Shotgun Saturday Night shows, or when they had that arena problem in Denver I thought they should have set up the ring in the parking lot and ran a show like that.  Be dangerous!

As for the Wargames, I already did the complete run for 24/7 a few years back so I don't really see the point in reviewing the DVD, but I'll repost that rant for people who might now have read it.

I always aprove of promotions doing shows in places other than arenas/stadiums, as long as the place in question isn't Sturgis, SC. The Club Le Vela and outdoor Universal Studios Nitros were the shit. I swear I heard that TNA was trying to work out a deal where they'd do a show in conjunction with a Nascar race about a year ago, and while that wouldn't work (even the smallest Nascar track would be far too big for even Wrestlemana), I like that kind of thinking.

  2. As much as I hate the way the 'E calls north NJ "the shadow of NYC," they could stand to do something to really play that up...there's a park with a soccer field in Hoboken, NJ along the Hudson River where you can see the NY skyline across the river...how great would a ring be set up there?

  3. I think there's a fear of having outdoor shows because of weather concerns. They've actually been lucky not to get rained out on any of the open air Manias. Still i'd love to see them do something fun like that, I think a cruise ship would be a good setting. Also i'd really like to see them take it a step further from the Nitros where the ring would be surrounded by water and actually have the ring floating in a big pool or something, so the wrestlers had to ride little boats to the ring and everyone who bumped to the outside would end up in the water. Stupid, I know, but it'd be different.

  4. The "This is your life, Rock" skit took place on spring break?

  5. TNA did or may still do a couple of shows at minor league stadiums every year; hopefully one becomes a live Impact. RAW would be pretty sweet at a ballpark - have it in Arizona or Las Vegas so there's little chance of rain.

  7. Verified that they're still running those shows. The nearest to me is in Louisville.

GODDAMMIT TNA COME TO ST LOUIS!

That's one of the reasons I enjoy the Tribute to the Troops show. Watching them wrestle in broad, sunny daylight in front of 500 people is a pretty unique and awesome visual.

  9. It actually did rain during the Miz/Barrett pre-show match at Mania. Being in the crowd, you could just sense the "Oh crap, it's gonna be a long four hours".

(Then Vince called called God and made it stop :) )

  10. I don't think the WWE product would go over well there...

  11. True, but WCW made $0 on that show since they couldn't make people pay for it on the beach. I loved how a crowd full of marks booed the Renegade, though.

I also love Vader and Ric Flair's promos on that show.
