Problems in Developmental?

This weekend, recently released developmental wrestler Briley Pierce (brother of Dolph Ziggler) put up several tweets (that have since been deleted) alleging sexual abuse by the strength trainer to the diva's. Trent Baretta also put up a tweet hinting about sexual abuse. Here are the links of the tweets:

Also, recently released NXT wrestlers Chad Baxter and Chase Donovan discuss the abusive training that occured under Bill Demott on the Two and a Half Wrestlers podcast. One of the host, Kevin Matthews, is the former WWE developmental wrestler who was in Deep South several years ago and went off on DeMott in the past on his podcast and on Twitter in regards to the abuse that occured in Deep South. Comments

  1. Now there's an angle they could run. Show some skits of Tyson Kidd crying alone in the locker room and not telling anyone what's wrong, or Ted Dibiase Jr wincing and bursting into tears when someone so much as raises a hand next to him.

Then reveal one of the more muscular divas as a sexual abuser! Instant heel heat.

  2. I took it that way also... but I think they are saying that they know another wrestler is harassing Divas... was kind of unclear though.

  3. I read it as DeMott (or someone else) is sexually harassing the Divas.

  4. Strength coach.

  5. Awww, another use for independent contractors, you don't need HR. The only recourse for any of these folks, if in fact the allegations are true, is to sue the company which would permanently burn any bridge or chance to wrestle for them. Thus, they keep it quiet. What a joke.

  6. They were implying that the strength coach who works with the diva's is harassing them and DeMott is doing everything he can to sweep it under the rug.

  7. The podcast is interesting and if even 10% of what is reported is true, then Demott should be fired ASAP. Baxter reports how DeMott would hit some of the trainees with a yardstick and he and Donovan, although not witnessed in person, have been told that DeMott actually pulled out a gun during a training session. At the beginning of the podcast, Matthews recalls how when he was there, he witnessed DeMott cause Angel Williams to tear her patella and caused injury to a few others. All three mention make note of the high injury rate that has been occuring when DeMott is the trainer.
The podcast also plays an ad from the "Be a Star Campaign" as we are told that DeMott constantly calls the trainees "faggots."

  8. I wonder how much of what Bill Demott/other people are doing during these training sessions is actually different from the wrestling camps in the 70's and 80's but since it's 2013, stuff like this is (rightfully) no longer tolerated and easier for the information to get out.

  9. That's really gonna look bad if it's the same strength coach JR is constantly raving about in his blogs.

  10. Not excusing it, but that last sentence sounds like most football practices around the country.

  11. Id watched a shoot with Chris Masters, who said that in OVW, they alternated trainers each week between Lance Storm and Bill DeMott. He said that they all loved Storm and that DeMott would only try to break them and thought it was a waste of time to break people in OVW, because most of the people down there had been wrestling independents and knew they wanted to be in the business. He recalls that one session, he bumped about 240 times and that at the end of the day you could barely walk. I'd say the only thing that DeMott tries to do is break people. Kevin Matthews did a shoot and describes how DeMott was just a prick to everyone. On WOL, Meltzer said that he has heard from others that Matthews was a goof but that a good portion of what he said had been true.

Here is the trailer to the Matthews shoot:

  12. "OH NO, A YARDSTICK!!!"

"Hey, when you hit me with that steel chair, make it look good dammit!"

  13. Nothing like hearing a nobody bitch about anyone and everyone. That was a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG 8 minutes. Even if a lot of what he says is true, it's hard to take him seriously.

My favorite part was "I should've held my ground" (referencing a confrontation with DeMott) followed about 30 seconds later by "The guys in NXT need to nut up; I wish there were 10 more of me". Yeaaaaaaaah.

  14. DeMott is in the same class as Bob Holly, a guy who couldn't make it that wants to make himself feel important by stiffing rookies.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah, he does come off like a goon. If he didnt, people would probably take him more seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  16. After reading Holly's book, I really don't think that's applicable to him. He stiffed one rookie who was joking around too much and when the rookie panicked, and squirmed too much the hits had a lot more impact. Bottom line is that Holly was stiff/snug, but he wasn't a bully. Demott and Sgt Buddy Parker... those are the bully types

  17. Very happy to see the BOD daily round up back again. Good job, Brian! I will tune in.

  18. I disagree with you on Buddy Parker. I thought he was trying to teach respect for the wrestling business.

Dave Batista trained under Parker and hated him. But, it would not surprise me if Big Dave entered the power plant with the expectation of getting a WCW contract simply because he was a big guy. And that is where Parker brought him down to earth.

  19. I don't know remember what year this was but in one season of Tough Enough - John Morrison was a cast member - their was a young lady that ended up having some mental problems.

Bill Demott, being the dumb bully that he was, had no clue that the young lady had some serious issues and kept bullying her.

In turns out, she did have some problems and had to leave the show. But from what I remember, DeMott just kept harassing this girl to no end.
