D-X to be Inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014?
According to PWInsider, the whole stable, including Chyna, are being considered for the Hall of Fame next year. In this week's "Wrestling Observer Newslette," Dave Meltzer states that he cannot see how they would conssder Chyna, due to her recent work in porn, noting how they refused to induct Lex Luger as part of the Four Horsemen for a lot less.

WWE Has No Interest in Kurt Angle?
When answering a mailbag question on "Wrestling Observer Radio" in regards to Kurt Angle going back to the WWE, Meltzer stated that when Kurt's contract was set to expire two years ago, WWE had zero interest in bringing him back, citing that they are still upset over the way in which he trashed the company after he left. Meltzer doesnt see how they would consider him now, as he is older.

Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards Contracts with RoH Expire This Week
Looks like they are still booked going forward but they have not signed another deal with RoH. The feeling internally is that they are both waiting to see if they can get a deal with WWE or TNA.

I call bullshit on the "WWE doesn't want Angle" thing.
ReplyDeleteThey will bring back anyone if they think it would make them money. They brought back Lesnar, and he left under much worse terms than Angle did.
If that's how they felt they would bring back Angle just to bury him somehow. I'd love to see him back personally
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'd be shocked if Angle isn't back at some point, doing the part time schedule.
ReplyDeleteDo a lot of people associate the Horseman and Luger? Wasn't he in the group a short time? I'm really asking as I didn't watch NWA, and only started watching WCW in 94.
If you can bring back the Ultimate Warrior, you can bring back Kurt Angle.
ReplyDeleteDid Brock trash the company like Angle did?(serious question, I'm not sure if he did or not) I know that when Brock left it was under awful terms, but they were going to bring him back at the start of 2005. I haven't heard anything about them even thinking about bringing Kurt back
ReplyDeleteAngle went out on much worse terms than Lesnar. He was bashing everyone publically and was highly unstable. Sure, they might bring him back but there is no need right now, really.
ReplyDeleteI think we're more likely to see Rick Rude make an appearance than Chyna.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of Kurt Angle in WWE is appealing, since matches with Punk, Bryan, and Ziggler could be great, but I think that's more based on Kurt's prime than his current state
i think eddie edwards has a better shot than davey just b/c of his look. his promo skills wouldnt fly in wwe, but more could be done with him.
ReplyDeletei've seen davey live and he impressed the hell out of me then, but now hes just 'me davey! me angry! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!'
Yeah, Luger wasn't a Horseman for long, but the angle was significant so he's remembered in that context
ReplyDeletePLEASE TNA bring in the American Wolves. Wolves vs. GunnStorm tag title feud!
ReplyDeleteI don't know man, Kurt did have a relationship with Stephanie behind Triple H's back in 2000.
ReplyDeleteassociated with the horsemen for a full year (all of '87), 2nd half of which was as a full fledged member
ReplyDeleteThey both left on horrible terms. Lesnar just draws way more interest than angle.
ReplyDeleteI don't recall Hunter ever laying it to Luger. So I'm pretty sure that is Chyna's in.
ReplyDeleteNo, no no...I want American Wolves vs. Bad Influence.
ReplyDeleteWe can get both! Plus maybe the Briscoes will come in at some point.
ReplyDeleteKurt can still have great matches. Hell, he had a terrific one with Styles not long ago, and dragged D'Lo Brown's corpse to a ***-plus match.
ReplyDeleteWith WWE on a family friendly kick since 2008, I was inclined to agree. But hasn't Sean Waltman come back into the WWE fold?
ReplyDeleteI don't believe he trashed the company so much as he just made it known he didn't want to be a pro wrestler and hated the lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's mighty funny that Kurt's the only one who has made claims about still being in touch with Vince McMahon and how WWE supposedly calls him every year about coming back when everyone at WWE usually claims the exact opposite.
ReplyDeletePainkillers, steroids, alcohol, multiple concussions and a broken freaking neck are not a good combination for your mental stability.
I don't think he has an official title but he supposedly helps out part time in developmental.
ReplyDeleteB-b-but all the Horsemen are in there, even Richards! BoD wouldn't like to me, would they? (trying to collect the reward by finding and doing a citizen's arrest on Stone Cold for putting the hit on Owen)
ReplyDeleteEven if he did, look at the years-to-decades of badmouthing Bruno and Bret did.
ReplyDeleteRude deserves his own entry.
ReplyDeleteBTW I know that the Luger thing is a lie, didn't he do interview pieces on one of the WCW-themed DVDs? That and, well, it couldn't be seen as "much less," seeing as how leaving for WCW is worse than porn to Vince probably.
ReplyDeleteBret Hart shaking hands with Shawn Michaels, Bruno Sammartino inducted into the Hall of Fame and Ultimate Warrior promoting the new WWE video game all happened in the last three years. But Kurt Angle is the one that no one would bring back because he bad mouthed Vince.
ReplyDeleteRight.
Plus, Luger's not the only one who renegged on a handshake deal with Vince. At least Luger didn't try to choke the guy or hold him up for more money right before a pay-per-view...
ReplyDeleteBruno and Bret also were not on a death watch either before they left the company.
ReplyDeleteKurt was a trainwreck when he left, that is the main reason why they would be hesistant to take him back. .
Agreed. Kurt still has value for the WWE and I love to see him return someday.
ReplyDeleteI think Angle has on more WWE run left in him, and he can still get around 4 stars no problem.
ReplyDeleteHall of Fame is a joke if Warrior and Savage are omitted once again. Rude, Luger, Sid, Vader, all deserve to be this class as well.
ReplyDeleteYou think Eddie has a better look than Davey? Whaaaat?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that right now TNA isn't going to be acquiring any new talent in the near future....
ReplyDeleteI mean he may very well be right, but still, let's not treat Dave Meltzer's mere speculation as though it were actual information.
ReplyDeleteWe save that shit for Scott!
Hall of Fame is a joke full stop.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I dont take everything that he says for gospel either (I mean, this is the guy who thought Bob Sapp was going to be a megastar) but for the Daily Update posts, I'm just putting out anything interesting, provided there is a semi-reliable source.
ReplyDeleteCareful, you can get crucified around here for questioning Meltzer.
ReplyDeleteKoko B. Ware > Warrior, Savage, Rude, Luger, Sid, Vader
ReplyDeleteDavey Richards can't go to WWE. He's just too small to be that roided up. TNA might be able to do something as they've got more small guys who can wrestle him credibly.
ReplyDeleteI said it another thread, but I'd love to see Angle back as a part time wrestler/manager. He'd be a great mouthpiece for a young wrestler (face Swagger?) or he could be used in a Foley-like Legends role. He can always be drawn into a Wrestlemania match later on. That would be much better than wrestling in any other mediocre organization. He should retire with dignity in the place where he started.
ReplyDeleteSo they could still pick up the Miz!
ReplyDelete(He's not talented is what I'm saying)
He's a freaking Olympic gold medalist
ReplyDelete*sniff* NOBODY IS BETTER THAN SAVAGE
ReplyDelete*cries*
Plus the whole "Angle will probably kill himself with pills" thing they worried about, which I would still worry about even on a part-time basis.
ReplyDeleteThat boy needs therapy.
Luger should go in the same class as Sting and they should induct each other.
ReplyDeleteThe explaining is what really made that joke.
ReplyDeleteHe's 1 inch shorter than Bryan....
ReplyDeleteAccording to WWE, Drew Carey is.
ReplyDeleteAnd Bryan is that fluke 1 guy per generation that WWE will push.
ReplyDeleteI would think Luger not going in with the Horsemen may have been as much about Flair and Arn not wanting him there as anything.
ReplyDeleteMy preference with Angle would be the Jericho style part time deal. Come in for 3-6 months at a time, full time, so we can get the full experience, then take time off. Angle's whole gimmick is that he is a gold medal wrestler, we need to see him wrestling on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteAngle arrested for suspicion of DWI yesterday. Wrestling Observer @WONF4W
ReplyDelete5m
More on this shortly, but Kurt Angle was arrested on suspicion of DWI Thursday: http://bit.ly/1bTrIXN
Wait... what if I am not down with DX being inducted into the HoF?
ReplyDeleteDavey Richards is intense, and I actually think transitioning to a "WWE Style" would do wonders for his career. He's young, but he's got to be worn down from doing so much stupid shit, and solid agents could edit his haphazard psychology and spastic pacing and utilize his dope moveset and extreme athleticism into something worth watching.
ReplyDeleteDavey Richards as a singles wrestler...probably won't/can't succeed. But the American Wolves as a tag-team? I think that Eddie's lack of anything other than in-ring talent could be covered up and Davey's complete lack of knowing how wrestling works is obscured.
They could be the Bulldogs of the 2010s.
I think there might be a certain number of words the group might possess for you.
ReplyDeleteTop scientists are still determining the exact number and make-up of these words, but hopefully a break-though will happen soon.
Fingers crossed, please let everyone else get in traffic resulting in Billy Gunn accepting the induction all by himself at the ceremony.
ReplyDeleteIf there's money to be made, then why not sign Angle as a part-timer? Angle-Punk, Angle-Bryan and another Angle-Lesnar rematch would draw.
ReplyDeleteDoes WWE have the clout to sign the American Wolves, then reunite Bagwell and Riggs as the American Males? It's the dream match we've all wanted to see!
ReplyDeleteGood point. I just think that realistically he would be under so much pressure to perform that they probably shouldn't risk him wrestling a full schedule (even for a couple of months). Having three matches on Sun-Mon-Tues and travelling all the time might be a recipe for disaster for him, and if that's the reason WWE doesn't want him, then I'd much rather see him in the role I suggested. That'd be better than nothing.
ReplyDelete..aaand that could be another reason not to hire him.. At least he wasn't caught with cocaine or marijuana.. so there's THAT...
ReplyDeleteEddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Owen Hart, Shawn Michaels, Dynamite Kid, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, Evan Bourne.....
ReplyDeletesuck it, duh
ReplyDeleteHell, Steve Austin might even be qualified for that list. He's not exactly a Rock or Triple H physique or anything.
ReplyDeleteUh...on second thought, it might be a wise decision on the WWE's part not to rehire Kurt Angle.
ReplyDeleteEvan Bourne is a jobber...
ReplyDeleteConsidering last night's DWI arrest any chance of Angle coming back just got lower.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean we will see Jason Sensation inducted along with DX?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Rude can show up at the Hall of Fame Ceremony and in the cemetary on the same day, hes done similar before.
ReplyDeleteI thought American Males vs. Billy & Chuck in a Male Bra and Panties match is the dream match we've all wanted to see?
ReplyDelete"The WWE Hall of Fame is a joke. Koko B Ware, Drew Carey, blah, blah, blah, pass the Cheetos..."
ReplyDeleteWe get it already. Can we get some type of moratorium on people mentioning these names whenever the HOF comes up? If you think the HOF is a joke, then you shouldn't care enough to comment on it.
But for the record... Koko was one of the most impressive JTTS's in his day and served for the company for about 8 years. And Vince inducts minorities every year, so deal with it. And just about every major sports hall of fame features a "contributors" wing, so bringing up celebrities as evidence for WWE's unfairness is misguided because: 1. They are pro wrestling's equivalent to contributors. 2. Even WWE doesn't put them at the same level as the athletes as they always mention the invisible "celebrity wing"
He's also built like Chris Benoit.
ReplyDeleteLOOK AT MY DAMN NOSE!
ReplyDeleteI can't even see TNA doing anything with him. He can't talk, can't sell worth a fuck, and has no charisma at all. He only gets over in ROH because he's been there forever and is almost synonymous with the company. And while Edwards is a pretty decent worker he's just so generic that I don't see a future for him outside of the indies either.
ReplyDeleteOnly if you're a douche about it, like some people...
ReplyDeleteI believe he's an "evaluator" which I guess means he's like a scout.
ReplyDeleteYou don't think Davey has charisma?
ReplyDeleteI mean...not the Rock style charisma, but he is intense and displays emotions inside the ring.
What did Drew Carey ever contribute?
ReplyDeleteI thought his shtick with Kane was a good time!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that Jim Neidhart, Hornswaggle, and The Boogeyman will finally make it into the WWE Hall of Fame.
ReplyDeleteSemi-threadjack:
ReplyDeleteAre Jesse Ventura, Brock Lesnar, and The Rock the only wrestling stars to become even bigger stars AFTER leaving wrestling?
Angle doesn't make TNA money. Why would WWE think that he could make them money?
ReplyDeleteWhile your followup premise is correct, that still doesn't mean that WWE would want Angle.
He told Triple H he saw Kamala one time.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you get so many downvotes?
ReplyDeleteAbraham Lincoln
ReplyDeleteDavey doesn't look like Eric Bana.
ReplyDeleteYeah I just don't but the Davey has no charisma thing. His promos are a little one-note but he has passion and seems clear spoken. Eddie is atrocious on the stick though.
ReplyDeleteWarrior is probably going in this year. Savage will make it eventually. Luger is on good terms again but I doubt anyone wants to see him accept from his wheelchair. Sid & Vader are both in the huddle, they'll get put in soon.
ReplyDeleteTranslation: Eddie's taller.
ReplyDeleteEddie is a beanpole IRL though, definitely seems tiny in person. Giant hands though.
I want Gunner & Storm to team up with Joseph Park because I'm a Warren Zevon fan and I wanna see a team called Lawyers, Guns, and Money.
ReplyDelete(Yes I know Storm was the "Beer" in Beer Money, before anyone says it. You people are why we can't have nice things.)
certain posters have targeted me. i have my suspicions.
ReplyDeletereally pathetic, aint it? must mean i'm doing something right!
Tyler Mane!
ReplyDelete(I always get mad when I read Rob Zombie movie reviews and Mane gets mentioned as an ex-wrestler, if only because he never did anything and was basically just a failed wrestler who happened to have made it into WCW. It'd be like calling Stallone an ex-pornstar).
Eddie looks like a classic indy geek. Davey is a midget but he's at least distinctive.
ReplyDeleteD'Lo's a good worker.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Meltzer, Angle tried to call people in WWE looking for a job when his last TNA contract ran out and literally no one returned his calls.
ReplyDeleteConsidering that the guy was on a death watch and refused to go to rehab during his last WWE stint, I don't find that hard to believe at all.
I remember I would roll my eyes when ABC and news outlet would refer to Stacy Keibler as an ex-wrestler and the endless jokes about how she could whup some co-star's ass. I've seen enough whiffed kicks to not have that amuse me, and I guess "ex-wrestler" is easier to put in print the "ex-thong flasher".
ReplyDeleteAgreed about Koko- I mentioned this on the last HOF controversy (like two days ago)- guy was losing every single match in an era where everybody was making a ton of money. And what's wrong with a celebrity wing? It's just to get a bit of mainstream attention, and it's not like they're stealing awards from wrestlers by doing it.
ReplyDeleteWatching him in the Royal Rumble was funny, especially once the Hardyz eliminated each other and left him alone... to fight Kane.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing- THE ONLY THING- that I can see Angle being blackballed permanently for is the fact that he's a giant mess and might die under contract. An Olympian dying under WWE contract would be so disastrous they might never risk it.
ReplyDeleteLuger is so much more associated with other moments in wrestling history than he is with the Horseman. I don't even get the argument. Just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteKurt Angle is the most likely active wrestler to die right now. Morbid, yes, but it's not even close. The WWE does not want another dead wrestler under contract. I don't even get the argument. I think that one's a fact.
But to completely bury my point, Angle is honestly one of my favorite performers, in the ring and on the mic, of all time. I would love for him to get clean and have a last run in WWE. His music hitting, say to interrupt Punk leading to WM, would be one of those all-time moments.
Given that "The French Inhaler" wouldn't work too well, that's probably your best bet. Fuck yeah, Warren Zevon.
ReplyDelete
