So ROH pulled a TNA...

You know TNA's obsession with mysterious vignettes that threaten a new force is invading the company.  You also all know how the reveal is ultimately underwhelming (Tito Ortiz anyone).  I'm a little trepiditious about this one.  The Blog loves nothing better then unsubstantiated guessing so I figured the thousands hundreds of people who visit the blog and follow the indys could weigh in on who exactly this is about.

  4. Doesn't do much for me.

Is the August 17th show a TV taping? Cause they'll start building the surprise on the shows already taped (they have at least two weeks in the can, right?) but the fans that watch the show will already know "the surprise" via spoilers. I mean, I'm kinda getting into the syndicated ROH, but it's gonna be damn hard for me to miss finding out who the surprise is.

  5. 17th is taping some matches for tv, but the whole show will be available on demand within a few days of it being over

  6. Quick sorta off topic question.

I don't follow ROH beyond what's written in this blog, I'm thinking about going to the iPPV in Philly on Sept 20th...will it be worth it?

  7. They still have some good guys on the roster, I'd go. There's always going to be one or two good technical matches any ROH show even if there roster is a little lackluster at the moment, but you got Elgin, Steen, Bennett, Wolves, Lethal, London, Benjamin and this mystery guy still around.

  8. Assuming this is the first mention of the surprise, this is indeed pulling a TNA: making the announcement a few days before the event with no time for a build at all.

  9. Yes. The tournament for the Vacant world title concludes at that show, so it's guaranteed to have a big moment and a new champion crowned. I second everything Ripner Cabbit said and add that the roster is always in top form for the big shows, and that Philly show is their biggest since the Wrestlemania weekend show back in April. Cheap seats are only $20 bucks at every ROH show I've ever been to, so it's a low risk prospect to go. It's true when they say that wrestling is better live, and the atmosphere at an ROH show is second to none.

  10. EXACTLY.

I can forgive the late nature of it if they just closed the deal and didn't want to announce it till they had it in ink, but i swear to god if it's S.C.U.M. my head will explode. Let that faction stay dead, Steel Cage Warefare was the perfect blow off to the angle.

  11. early guess? A resurrected Age of the Fall with Jacobs back at the helm. Sadly, no Necro or Tyler with him.

  12. That guy actually did a great interview with Colt Cabana on his podcast

  17. Just read an idea someone had on another board . . .

    A Chikara stable . . .

play out the wrestlers abandoned by Chikara, get the great Chikara workers into ROH, play into the storyline/work/shoot/whatever the hell it is Chikara is doing. This would rock if it was the case . . .

  18. Matt Borne?

  23. Uh...what great wrestlers in Chikara?

  24. From all that I've seen and heard, it is Eddie Kingston and Homicide teaming up.

  25. Hundreds of people is also inaccurate. I'd go threes.

  26. Fire Ant and Green Ant are 2 of the very very very best workers on the indie circuit today. Jigsaw, Hallowicked, Eddie Kingston, Shard, Mark Angelosetti, Obariyon, Gran Akuma, Los Ice Creams are all quite good as well.

  27. This makes the most sense of anything I've heard. Although I don't really think ROH can afford to bring in 10 guys but 2 or 3 of the best workers with maybe a comedy guy or someone to be a mouthpiece (didn't follow CHIKARA to know who would fit these rolls) would make sense.

  28. ah, dougie--you realize I can see the hit count for my articles from the posting side of blogger right.

  29. I'd figure Kingston, Green Ant, Fire Ant, and prolly Quakenbush to be the mouthpiece would work out well. Could also add R.D.Evans (Archibald Peck) to it since he's already in ROH
