BoD Sunday NFL Thread

I created this so the football comments can be in one thread, instead of all over the place. You can talk about he games or about your fantasy teams. For the fun of it, I am going to pick three teams against the spread each week. Here are my picks for this week:

Arizona (+2) against Detroit
New Orleans (-3) against Tampa Bay
Baltimore (-7) against Cleveland

  1. These games are cool and all but fucking Manning bowl and then Sea/SF at 415 and 830. I dont see myself leaving the couch fron 4-12 something. Apologies to all girlfriends and wives.

  2. The Browns trading away the Julio Jones draft pick was the worst trade of the decade so far.

  3. Gotta disagree. When your a bad team like cleveland was, you should try and collect as many assets as possible. As good as Julio is, a WR isnt gonna be a difference maker in the long run. I think they got enough to warrant making the trade. If it was a QB though, it would be completely indefensible.

  4. The Browns have and have had one of the worst group of receiving corps in the NFL. Jones would have been a huge difference maker.

  5. I dont think WRs on their own make differences. Moss in Oakland is the best example I can think of, Fitzgerald also. They ended up with Phil Taylor, a good contributing piece of the Browns strong unit (D line), that WR little, who seems to suck but they seem to like, and B Weedon. Say what you want about Weedon but hes been their stater for two years.

I think at the time it was a good trade, that just looks bad in hindsight since Jones looks so good. Whos to say that without Roddy White, gonzalez and Matt Ryan that Julio is anything other then a slightly above average nfl wr?

  6. Dan Deirdorff just accused Michael Vick of "a little bit of WWE" when he fell out of bounds on a shove from one of the Chargers. There's your football wrestling tie-in of the week.

  7. Dolphins SACK! Bam! Three-team Parlay in!! Holy fuck, my day just got really good.

  8. Thanks. That was a really, really close two weeks. I thought I was going to blow it after picking up Chacin and forgetting to start Strasberg last week. That was as close as it gets. If you are doing the league again next year, I will gladly re-join. Thanks for setting it up.

  9. I'd have to go with the Raiders giving multiple picks to the Bengals for Carson fucking Palmer.

Shame both of those games turned out to be blowouts in the second half. Still, Seattle completely stuffed SF and I was impressed by their dominance throughout. I'll temper the hyperbole for them for now only because Seattle's two SF blowouts were at home where they have the best home-field advantage in football, but if they go to the Bay and beat them down again... I also don't put too much stock into Seattle's game with Carolina last week, because West Coast teams playing early on the East Coast tends to not go well for any WC team, even though my Chargers pulled out a surprising win against Flipadelphia.

Carolina. It's not a city. What did I win?

Well, at least Jordan Cameron looks awesome. Imagine if he had a QB worth his salt throwing to him.

I wish I had him on my team (although I'm very happy with Jordan Cameron), if only for all the Pulp Fiction puns I would get to do.
