Comments

  1. Edit--it's GFL.tv, NOT GFL.com

    ReplyDelete
  2. Hell yeah. Hope the stream holds up.

    ReplyDelete
  3. They could pay me to watch it. THat would be better than free.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Count me out, I'll be dashing about town tonight. Have a Birthday of Laziness coming up tomorrow, and need to set up tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Of course they do this when I'm already going to a NXT house show =-_-=

    ReplyDelete
  6. Tends to be the way these things work :(

    ReplyDelete
  7. BIRTHDAY BUDDY!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Tomorrow's news update will include ROH apologizing for streaming problems.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Almost certainly, but I'll be watching anyway!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh dear. Site's down.

Even when I was on there signing in using my Facebook profile, I couldn't seem to find the stream at all.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Stream is (slowly) working over here. Anyone else?

    ReplyDelete
  12. The facebook sign in was Trippy--I made a non FB one. I'm watching with zero isssues

    ReplyDelete
  13. Watching with no issues

    ReplyDelete
  14. You go to upcoming events, click ROH DBD XI, then click the button that says play

    ReplyDelete
  15. It's working for me now.

    ReplyDelete
  16. All you missed was Briscoe bitching about being striped of the title when Nigel got to wrestle injured

    ReplyDelete
  17. Working fine here, now.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yep, all sorted. Nice one.

    ReplyDelete
  19. So then, how come Briscoe is being stripped of the belt? Injury?

Can any RoHeads fill me in on the stuff I need to know for this show? Dunno if i'll make it through the whole thing, but still... (it's 1.15am here)

    Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Dude on commentary reminds me of Lord Alfred Hayes.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Pretty sure it's being blamed on an injury. Not sure if it's kayfabe or not, though.

    ReplyDelete
  22. On a sidenote, i'm sure Extreme Rising did a show here a year ago, and i'm pretty sure it drew better, by the looks of things.

Don't know if anyone can confirm that..

    ReplyDelete
  23. That'd be our countryman Nigel McGuiness aka Desmond Wolfe in TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  24. wasn't he stripped for being a big ol' homophobe?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jay was injured (kayfab) at the start of summer. All summer they have been hyping/having a 16 man tournament. Tonight is the semi finals and then the two winners in the finals

Other then that, NJPW's Tag champs defend their gold, Mexican star Ricky Marvin makes wrestles his ROH debut, and an 8 man with both midcard titles (Tag, TV) involved

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ah, okay. Never heard him talk before.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Despite being birthed in Philly, It's not a major market for ROH, which is why they very rarely return anymore (which pisses off Philly fans)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I love german suplexes

    ReplyDelete
  29. Kinda dig Cole's t-shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I've fallen out of following ROH, is Ciampa any good or does he just have enough cool power moves to look good in a highlight reel?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Damn good if you ask me, Lots of intensity to his move set.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Gotta love that the Quarterfinal matches haven't even been shown on tv, but we'll have a new champion at the end of the night.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I know Cole's pretty not bad at least. I saw him live back when he was teaming with Kyle O'Reily.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cole's been kinda great in PWG lately.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think this is going on TV too...they said it's only available at this live showing till the DVD release.

All the tourny matches were available on demand at ROHWrestling.com for weeks now too. Still ridiculous, but context makes it a little better

    ReplyDelete
  36. I like his look. Sort of a young Billy Campbell vibe.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hmm... well it's been weeks since BJ was nearly crippled. Good enough time to try a leaping DDT on the apron.

    ReplyDelete
  38. ...That wasn't a burning hammer...

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love theses knees

    ReplyDelete
  40. McGuinness didn't sound to thrilled about that, either.

    ReplyDelete
  41. They had like 8 more apron moves THAT NIGHT

    ReplyDelete
  42. We need more ringpost Figure 4's in this world.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ok, I was a little turned off by the apron stuff but that knee kick was cool.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Problem I have with ROH...

It's ECW (without the weapons) in a time where ECW isn't really acceptable anymore.

WWE/TNA (or just pro wrestling) and general has done a good job (albeit slightly painful at times) of 'dialling back' the movesets/finishers.

I'm now seeing about 20 finishers and kickouts every time.

It's like a Kurt Angle match on acid.

    ReplyDelete
  45. yeah. top rope kryptonite klutches shouldn't be near falls. nor 18 knees to the face.

    ReplyDelete
  46. But, tbf, they do need to do something different, I guess. It's just hard as i've been schooled to see these moves as finishers, and, well, they're just not.

Plus, another thing is just the fact no one's got any heat. The crowd just cheer for the spots. Again, it's kinda ECW, but that time has passed. Plus, at least ECW had some real fucking heels.

I dunno, i'll try not to be too quick to judge, but i'm sitting here watching the second match of the card being worked like a main event. I'll hazard a guess every match will be like this, too.

    ReplyDelete
  47. That match was pretty rad.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I feel like if I was watching this in 2001, i'd 100% agree. I guess my tastes have really changed over time. I WANT to try and enjoy it, though..

    ReplyDelete
  49. Elgin = Beefy Santino

    ReplyDelete
  50. Shotgun that for my fantasy wrestler name. "Beefy Santino."
For the record, I ran into Elgin and Ms. Chif at Six Flags St. Louis a week or two ago, they were cool.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Steen's theme song is pretty rad, not gonna lie.

    ReplyDelete
  52. How's this for irony, ROH gets a stream right and my internet gets taken out by a storm

    ReplyDelete
  53. Internet back, I'll remember this next time Philly bitches about not having shows more often I\ll remember they made the worst crowd in months

    ReplyDelete
  54. Pretty hard to say.

The crowd levels are always fucked on indy show streams.

    ReplyDelete
  55. fair. I'll save judgment for the post-production version

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm not a huge fan of the apron stuff, or the powerbomb into a chair on the floor kind of stuff. But the last 5-8 minutes where Cole was working the leg were really fun.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Isn't the torso where most people carry most of their weight?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Two canadians doing the Sharpshooter and Crossface. Like a weird, funhouse mirror version of late WCW.

    ReplyDelete
  59. With 200 extra pounds

    ReplyDelete
  60. Definitely prefer this match thus far. Paced a little better, and there's some build up to their bigger moves (from what I can gather).

Not too mad about the amount of times two big guys have gone upstairs though, but whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I know this is obvious, but God damn Elgin is strong.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Look, Psychology--bad shoulder and all!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I wince every time he does he deadlift stuff. I've had some pretty bad back issues, so it's pretty hard to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Another RoH observation:

Why do guys hit a huge move, then pick up their opponent to do another move instantly?

Psychology called, and he's not in the least bit happy.

    ReplyDelete
  65. AJPW clothesline-then-sell is always a weird bit.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Kayfab answer, we are in the world of 1000 kickouts--they know they need more

    ReplyDelete
  67. That counter into the crossface was pretty danged sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  68. the weird thing with that match is that it didn't need all those sleeper suplex hits. the basic story is fine.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Not nearly as good as the original--but Elgin has another match tonight--he can't go 40 minutes now. Still good stuff

    ReplyDelete
  70. Isn't it about having Elgin smashed up going into the finals

    ReplyDelete
  71. Needs to bend at the knees....

    ReplyDelete
  72. fair. I suppose that's just the language of ROH at this point- if a dude is going to be beat up, he's going to get crazy ass suplexed a billion times.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Good point. So far Cole has beaten a concussed Mark Briscoe, injured Tomasso and got the early draw.

Works into an interesting story is Elgin is hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Also, I admittedly don't follow ROH much, but dang, Kevin Steen turning into John Cena is just weird.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Good call. I'd be getting that over on commentary, for sure.

Something along the lines of 'these are the not just the best professional wrestlers on the planet, but these are some of the toughest, too. It's gunna take more than a body slam to put these guys away!'

    ReplyDelete
  76. Especially when it originally looked like they were turning him into Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  77. yeah, that'd be the way to go with the crowds they get, right? but he was even doing the "smarky chit chat with the crowd on the way to the ring" while his song about killing people dead is playing.

    ReplyDelete
  78. My love of the Hooligans is in overdrive with the potential of this match.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Here comes the workrate

But I hope y'all aren't looking for selling here

    ReplyDelete
  80. Seriously though, how much better is Rocky as a whackjob weirdo?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Their TV match versus reDRagon was one of the best tag matches I've seen in recent memory.

    ReplyDelete
  82. 10 000%

    I Fucking love the Hooligans

    ReplyDelete
  83. What happened with Davey in Canada?

    ReplyDelete
  84. We boo'd him (we always do) He screamed I HATE CANADA AND FUCK HOCKEY.

Then he worked Heel while Eddie pleaded with him to settle down and work face, it was hysterical

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hah! "Russia! Russia!" "Rocky 4! Rocky 4!"

    ReplyDelete
  86. "kids in russia are only allowed to watch the first hour of rocky 4." Good line from Kelly.

    ReplyDelete
  87. First ROH I've seen in about 3 years.

    ReplyDelete
  88. That's kinda great. I good friend of mine was there and said the show was great. The guys from L.A.W. seemed to enjoy it as well.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Soaring and Scoring?....Eh.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yeah...just got home from a 5 hour drive

    ReplyDelete
  91. It's his shitty catchphrase... -_-

    We've just excepted it

    ReplyDelete
  92. Less suicide dives, please. Should really watch previous matches and make sure you're not repeating spots.

Also, they should train guys to use 'mid match' moves, rather than going from preliminary holds, straight in to highspots (F5 like sitout facebuster, in to a shining wizard...).

    ReplyDelete
  93. Nigel on commentary makes me sad. :(

    ReplyDelete
  94. I only ever really saw him in TNA and he was fucking brilliant. Such a funny talker, full of confidence, incredible in the ring.

I would have bet good money he would have ended up doing well for himself at WWE..

    ReplyDelete
  95. Saw him in ROH and predicted him to break out big. He would have too.

    ReplyDelete
  96. You know, there's enough of us watching, maybe the board should have a weekly ROH thread like we do with RAW.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Rocky Romero is STILL around??? NEVER got into that guy.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Isn't that kind of what this is?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Agreed. He was supposed to be really good, but meeeeeeeh

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hey, if every ROH PPV was free..

    ReplyDelete
  101. Not as you know him--he's representing NJPW here

    ReplyDelete
  102. There's different times that ROH is on. Myself for instance it's 10pm on a Saturday and I will watch it a day or two later on dvr.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Well...yeah...but I mean along with their weekly show...wait do we already do that?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Chin Checker = Awesome move...stupid name

    ReplyDelete
  105. No, it's taped and it airs in a diferent time slot in every market

    ReplyDelete
  106. The brotherly love warms my heart.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I thought of a similar move years ago, but instead of sitting out, falling forwards instead.

    ReplyDelete
  108. UGH! I hate when the guy taking the move scoots into position. Let the guy doing the move adjust!

    ReplyDelete
  109. I hate hearing that 'YES!' chant in other companies - instantly makes them feel so second rate.

    ReplyDelete
  110. That's kinda cheap. If I hear NJPW, I'm expecting someone like Blue Exploding Dragon #2.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I know...I know... I get it at like 1am Monday morning. But if we picked a time...nevermind that's way too much work.

    ReplyDelete
  112. "german... suplex.... NEW...No, I was about to say new champions." really? is that what you were doing, vince?

    ReplyDelete
  113. It is second rate (but ROH is who are we kidding) They do at least have the claim to Bryan Danielson being their greatest champion

    ReplyDelete
  114. They are the IWGP Tag Team Champions!

    ReplyDelete
  115. I missed it, what is the Chin Checker exactly?

    ReplyDelete
  116. "1, 2, 3333, HE GOT HIM... no, no he didn't!"

    ReplyDelete
  117. also, the first time I heard it was in relation to a D-bry-D spot? I think?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Awesome double submission, really like that.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Cool double submission

    ReplyDelete
  120. Didn't make Richards feel OP either.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Still not a burning hammer Kelly

    ReplyDelete
  122. The best I can describe it is you take a guy sitting on the top turnbucklie and hit him with a Stone Cold Stunner while holding his legs.

    ReplyDelete
  123. backpack stunner from the top would be my best guess.

    ReplyDelete
  124. The only time I don't mind it is with Woooo chants for chops.

    ReplyDelete
  125. IWGP sanctions title matches in the US??

    ReplyDelete
  126. You betcha--This is for the Strap

    ReplyDelete
  127. I think this crowd is on Downers, I've never seen an ROH crowd this lethargic

    ReplyDelete
  128. So fill me in, is this an upset??? I thought the Wolves were a pretty big deal in ROH...

    ReplyDelete
  129. Davey grabbing his gut suddenly was kinda awkward but otherwise really liked that.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Anybody else getting stream problems?

    ReplyDelete
  131. Love that finish.

What a shame it barely got a reaction. This is what I mean, you have a card full of massive spots and dangerous moves, not just for the finishes, but throughout MOST of the match.

Feel sorry for the main event.

You have to space your card out and have some variety.
    --
Anyone's stream now jumping like a bitch?

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yeh. Don't know whether it's worth refreshing... might just end up with nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Tried refreshing. Same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Yea I got issues too. Fucccck

    ReplyDelete
  135. So awkward that it had me second guessing, which is always good.

    ReplyDelete
  136. This crowd is fucking weird--we had an equal amount of insane spots in Toronto--or Chicago--Or NYC--and they poped for everyone.

That said this show is merely OK compared to even the NYC show from last month--kind of a shitty thing to do on your free chance to bring in new fans

    ReplyDelete
  137. This crowd seems smaller than what they had in 2004...tell me how the Sinclair deal has helped them.

    ReplyDelete
  138. It's an upset, I suppose. But the Hooligans did win the ROH tag titles not long ago.

    ReplyDelete
  139. And this is why I will not screw with iPPV in the near future.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Not with stream issues, I've played ROH defender all thread--but I got no defense for that. Fucking bullshit

    ReplyDelete
  141. Are they ROH and IWGP champs?

    ReplyDelete
  142. Then the Wolves beat them for those titles a week later

    ReplyDelete
  143. They were--then the Wolves ended their reign in a week--then reDRagon who lost the belts to the Hooligans won them back a week after the Wolves won them

    ReplyDelete
  144. Nah. There was some hotshotting around the time of the Toronto show.

    ReplyDelete
  145. So Russo's booking ROH now...

    ReplyDelete
  146. I don't order streams. Only watching this cause it's free. Right now it looks like the stuttering is over for now though.

    ReplyDelete
  147. It was while they had no World champion--a way to keep up interest until a new one was crowned

    ReplyDelete
  148. What know what's kinda screwed up about that though? I'm pretty sure gfl.tv even advertised this being free so they could show off how well their tech works now.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Just in time for intermission!

I only buy non live streams--never live

    ReplyDelete
  150. Huh. Intermission now, apparently.

    ReplyDelete
  151. That is EXACTLY what gfl.tv marketed as

    ReplyDelete
  152. Is this graphic seriously all they're doing with the intermission? Show some interviews or some highlight packages or something, damn.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Ok show thus far

But baring a miraculous turn around now I think I'd recommend the AWESOME New York show they did last month (with a crowd 5-10 times the size) over this one

    ReplyDelete
  154. Obviously you weren't around during the days of early WrestleManias.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Maybe the streaming issue right now is due to the amount of people trying to watch?

    ReplyDelete
  156. I don't think they even knew this was being streamed until very recently (as in maybe earlier today).

    I agree in principle however

    ReplyDelete
  157. Probably a lot of traffic in/out for intermission

    ReplyDelete
  158. Oh, it's a borderline petty complaint in the grand scheme of free things, but it's my Internet-given right to complain pettily about things. Argle blargle. If this weren't a freebie show I'd be more put out.

    ReplyDelete
  159. They were bankrupt without it?

    ReplyDelete
  160. Yep, if Sinclair drops ROH they're dead unless WWE wants to buy them.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Which they would--and they are nothing but tape library after that

    ReplyDelete
  162. When they've planned the ippv in advance, did they fill this part with adverts? You'd think this would be a great time to advertise the weekly show, website...

    ReplyDelete
  163. Man, Philly crowd is getting no love from people elsewhere on the interwebs--talk of how any other city they've been too in the last month would be freaking out

    ReplyDelete
  164. Usually it's hype for the second half

    ReplyDelete
  165. Yeah. That would work too.

    ReplyDelete
  166. OH FUCK

THIS CROWD ISN'T WAKING UP ANYTIME SOON

    ReplyDelete
  167. Is this thing STILL on intermission?

    ReplyDelete
  168. Ok, it was my stream lagging apparently. I refreshed just in time for it to come back to a 20 second countdown.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Refresh now if still on intermission

    ReplyDelete
  170. This chick is terrible but finnnnnnne

    ReplyDelete
  171. She did a good job of bending over for that chair...

    ReplyDelete
  172. Surely that was the cue for Sid Justice.... Right?

    ReplyDelete
  173. Who is it? I thought it was Cherry Bomb at a glance.

    ReplyDelete
  174. He's right. The Philly crowd sure doesn't care.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Philly crowd cares about nothing

    ReplyDelete
  176. HA! Ok, that was a good line from Nigel.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Ok, back...who's the jobber in the hat??

    ReplyDelete
  178. Jumpy streams...!

    ReplyDelete
  179. This is pretty much a nothing match.

    ReplyDelete
  180. They didn't care about the something matches either

    ReplyDelete
  181. WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY THROWING STREAMERS?????+

    ReplyDelete
  182. Or possibly RD Evans, I think he put Page's hat on at one point

    ReplyDelete
  183. This stream started so well

Rest in piece live ROH--you always blew

    ReplyDelete
  184. Because there ought to be SOME working streamers around here...

    ReplyDelete
  185. Because ROH has become a mockery of what it once use to be.

    ReplyDelete
  186. RD Evans is an AWESOME jobber in a hat though

    ReplyDelete
  187. May be bed soon for me.

    Can't handle jumpy streams.

    ReplyDelete
  188. That kinda stinks. RD Evans was really fun in Chikara.

    ReplyDelete
  189. KNEW there was a gag in there somewhere! Good job.

    ReplyDelete
  190. I'm close to tapping out here, and it's 10:00 pm

    ReplyDelete
  191. You win the internet for tonight good sir.
