History of the WWE DVD

I can only imagine how this thing is gonna spin stuff.  And this might be the weakest collection of repeat matches they've ever done, outside of the awesome Punk-Cena match randomly thrown on there to end it.   But hopefully the documentary will be good enough to justify the set.

Comments

  1. That might be the worst collection of matches for a big time dvd release.

  2. Haven't they already done a History of the WWE DVD? I don't see any reason why people would want to buy this. All the interesting topics (Monday Night Wars, Shawn/Bret, Hogan, WrestleMania) have been covered in greater detail in other releases, no?

Weird one here. Hopefully they'll put that Punk/Cena match on a worthwhile DVD moving forward.

  3. It's amazing how WWE continues to act like nothing special, match-wise, occurred during 1994 and 1995...most of their recent sets chronicling extended periods of time (RAW set, this set, etc.) just skip over those years as if they never happened...is it really because of Owen and not wanting to show footage of him?

  4. If you look at the matches on that DVD, they're going for matches that are 'historic moments' over match quality. Bruno's first title, Montreal, WMIII, the first RAW match, the birth of Austin 3:16, etc.

1994-95 had some good matches, but none that were major moments that shaped the history of the WWE. it was a pretty down period for business.

  5. Bret winning the title back from Yokozuna at WrestleMania X was pretty big...

  6. These... are not the matches I would have chosen for inclusion...

  7. I'm surprised there wasn't more HHH and Rock stuff. I'm not shocked there isn't much 2000-2003 stuff. Between Benoit and Angle they probably don't want to be promoting that.

  8. What surprised me was that they would actually have a chapter about the steroid trials. Of course, it will probably be spun in ridiculous ways (Stephanie: "The government was going after my daddy because they were alien terrorists! It's obvious!"), but I'm shocked that they would even address it in the first place. A good and proper WWE whitewash would say that 1992 was only about selling out Wembley Stadium.
