You mean fans didn't buy the attraction of inserting HHH into another SS main event that was going to lead to a screwjob ending? Color me shocked!
ReplyDeleteDAMM!!! I remember watching this match on the MSG Network back in 89. Fucking Sherri causing Hogan to lose. Glad Savage eventually dumped her, (well...he sorta dumped her)
ReplyDeleteHouse show strategy back then was ALWAYS Heel beats Hogan by DQ/countout whatever but the third match was in the cage or lumberjack match. Simple formula.
ReplyDeleteBetween their runs in 1985, 1986 and 1989, Savage must have about two dozen countout wins over Hogan.
ReplyDeleteWeird thing is when you get into his 1984 stuff, his first year with the title and guys like George "The Animal" Steele are beating him by countout. The guy always thought about the gate for the rematch.
I'm pretty sure the 6th demandment had something to do with time in tanning bed.
ReplyDeleteThat or...make sure your wife doesn't become a whore?
ReplyDeleteHellwig alleges that they were swingers, so that might be asking juuuuust a bit too much. Even if that's not the case, I strongly suspect Mr. and Mrs. Hogan may have an emotional issue or two.
ReplyDeleteErr....former Mrs. Hogan.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't she still use the "Hogan" name?
ReplyDeleteNo idea. I was just acknowledging the fact that they're divorced. Still, nothing the dude did in the BUSINESS was a horrid as the way he rubbed sunscreen on his daughter. Yeesh.
ReplyDeleteNo way he could do that if his schedule was a rigorous as he claims in his book.
ReplyDeleteI was at this show!
ReplyDeleteShiavone on WWF commentary still sounds weird
ReplyDeleteJake the Snake beat Million Dollar Man with a rollup amiright?
ReplyDeleteI remember being very excited about seeing Arn and Tully live. Plus, the Perfect-Hart match was awesome.
ReplyDeleteTalk about foreshadowing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6IsKXnqFQ8
ReplyDeleteThis feud was okay at first, but it got really good when Jack Tunney stepped in and made it about about himself, with Macho serving merely as a semi-competent lackey.
ReplyDeleteHis escalation after the 30 sec mark is too awesome for words
ReplyDeleteI think I saw this card on 24/7 when I was a subscriber.... Doesn't the show end with the Bushwackers beating Arn & Tully?
ReplyDeleteIt's the weirdest commentary in the history of all weird commentary.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly should have, nobody's topping a Bushwacker match.
ReplyDeleteWhy was Schiavone brought in at the time? A fresher face to replace Monsoon? I always got the impression from Ventura that he never cared working with Tony.
