Survivor Series Thread

I was going to stream the show on WWE.com and do a live recap of the show at the top of the thread but my work computer is unable to stream Netflix (I assume it won't be able to handle the PPV) so I will not be watching the show live tonight. Anyway, post away as this show does not look like much at all on paper, but you never know how this will turn out.

Comments

  1. Today, in things I learned:

It's actually Mike Rotunda. Not Rotundo.

And the world spins madly on.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Aaaand apparently I learned this before noticing there's a thread in the SurSer prediction thread in which this would be far more relevant.

  3. Stranger in the AlpsNovember 24, 2013 at 5:18 PM

Tonight begins the unofficial Road to Wrestlemania, and the build to Hulk Hogan returning to get his win back from Brock Lesnar.

    I kid, I kid. I really don't give a fuck.

    ReplyDelete
  4. You joke, but they've shown an open willingness to put Brock on his back exclusively for guys who don't need it.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Can't watch but will follow the thread.

    ReplyDelete
  6. The pre-show is on YouTube, right?

    ReplyDelete
  7. It's all the fault of those fans who didn't give HHH his standing ovation after he tapped out.

    ReplyDelete
  8. So when this show gets its brutal buyrate, because it's going head-to-head with Manning vs. Brady, who gets the blame this time?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yeah, the NFL pulled a Crockett on this one (or I guess a McMahon if you prefer)! My guess is either the Wyatts or Punk/Bryan or all of them.

    ReplyDelete
  10. "The Official Mantra of the Weekly Monday Night Open Mic"

    ReplyDelete
  11. You know call me a mark but I still look forward to just about every PPV

    ReplyDelete
  12. ::Draws name out of a hat:: Goldust. It's all Goldust's fault.

    ReplyDelete
  13. ::Draws name:: "Your mom"?! MY MOTHER WAS A SAINT.

    ReplyDelete
  14. It just makes you a fan... That's why we're here. We are wrestling fans. Even those that only bitch about it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. WTF is with Booker T's hair. Bret should just do guest commentary.

    ReplyDelete
  16. BRET IS AT SURVIVOR SERIES!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Maybe he'll run down and screw Big Show out of the belt tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  18. She wasn't big enough for the fans to take seriously though. Nobody ever noticed her in an airport.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I get excited about the big one's, like Survivor Series even if the WWE doesn't care about the gimmick.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I've got the day off tomorrow but I can't bring myself to shell out for this. Wait, it's opening with a Triple H promo? I'll get my wallet.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I hope one day they just truly stop caring and let Kevin Nash onto one of those panels. Just let him go nuts with no filter.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wow, for a second I thought Renee Young was Natalya.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mom: "What big star ever laid down for me?"
    Me: "‎ಠ_ಠ"

    ReplyDelete
  24. Renee is the kind of girl you marry... well not the kind of girl EYE marry but you get my point

    ReplyDelete
  25. Bret looks really nervous/serious for this pre-show. Booker and Mick look like they could care less, but he's acting like he's moderating the Super Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Right the girl someone else marries so you can have yer way with her . . .we get it :P

    ReplyDelete
  27. so let's see, Orton's been booked like a complete chump the last few months with zero clean finishes (and pinning Bryan after 2 DX finishers - sweet chin music and a pedigree, but not the RKO). OBVIOUSLY he can beat Show clean without hurting Show's character... yet does anyone even expect there'll be a clean, decisive finish there where he goes out looking strong for once?

    ReplyDelete
  28. He is nervous to be back at Survivor Series

    ReplyDelete
  29. Bryan of course

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bret takes himself too seriously

    ReplyDelete
  31. If we don't get Libertarian Kane factoring into the finish, I'll eat my hat.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Or the Survivor Series too seriously.

This is like asking Kennedy to give his insider analysis on Dallas.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I find this pre-show panel thing fun, but it's like 25 years too late. The company has exposed the business through Tough Enough and such, so it looks silly for these guys to hype it like a real event. Still, points for effort.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I've got a little extra cash in my bank account right now, so I was thinking of getting the PPV, but every time I pay for one, I get really disappointed when it's over, so I'm skipping it and watching football instead. I'll follow along on the blog, though. That's always fun.

    ReplyDelete
  35. He cleanly bear Big E on Monday and several others in prior weeks I believe so . .uhh . . .

    ReplyDelete
  36. Man, Rey is standing still and I think I can see him limping.

    ReplyDelete
  37. But libertarians would believe in letting the freedom of the ring decide things right because interference would be too much?

    ReplyDelete
  38. He still thinks this PPV means something.

    ReplyDelete
  39. "Tonight, we go out as a TEAM that needs to SURVIVE!"

    Why? Eh, who cares.

    ReplyDelete
  40. He hurt himself more in that promo

    ReplyDelete
  41. They still gotta do things for those who give them the cash/money to run though

    ReplyDelete
  42. thinking of big PPV finishes (I haven't been following Raw much) - but the abeyance finish against Bryan, and pinning him once after a pedigree, and another time after sweet chin music have done absolutely no favors for him. I'm not an Orton fan, but I think he's been booked horribly during this reign and looks like a lame duck.

    ReplyDelete
  43. So, the best match is going first? Looks like a short night.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yes. Libertarian Kane will sit on the sidelines and let the market - err, match be self-correcting.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Or the longest in recent memory.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Because Rey is in it?

    He's short you see...

    (Shows himself out)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Renee Young can get it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Punk is going to nail her for sure

    ReplyDelete
  49. If he hasn't already, I'll be floored.

    ReplyDelete
  50. They have Double A on the panel. He still thinks its real

    ReplyDelete
  51. Nice little promo by Punk.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Clever way to twist around the "goat" term into something that'll get them over.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Whenever Punk shaves he looks 17 years old.

    ReplyDelete
  54. But but I thought all interviews take place on the app now . . . I'm confused WWE

    ReplyDelete
  55. Sadly he hasn't been Libertariakane

    ReplyDelete
  56. "The Best and the Beard"

There are definitely worse names, that's for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anyone think Punk might turn on Bryan?

    ReplyDelete
  58. TJ...One of the Griffins die tonight apparently? Anyone heard rumors on who not is? Gotta be Meg/Mila Kunis, right?

    ReplyDelete
  59. The King recognizes the prestige and history of this event by breaking out the long sleeve t-shirt for this evening.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I would prefer Librarian Kane. He'll beat you with microfiche and a supreme knowledge of the Dewey decimal system.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Kofi, rocking that Shark Boy swag

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hahaha! I actually meant because she seems normal and nice... unlike the 2 crazy bitches I have married... but I like your thing better.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Well, the episode is titled "Life of Brian" so...

    ReplyDelete
  64. "SOS...I THINK I'M JOBBIN'..."

    ReplyDelete
  65. For me you hit the nail right on the head.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yeah I saw that. I figured it was going to be a swerve and their third cousin would die or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  67. This won't be as good as that one Kofi match where he wrestled Dolph Ziggler

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anyone remember when The Miz main evented this show two years ago against The Rock & John Cena? Anyone? Bueller?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hey, remember when Kofi and Miz were feuding in the lower midcard...just last year? Nice to see both guys have made such progress since then.

    ReplyDelete
  70. This is Kofi's first singles match at SurSer.

    ReplyDelete
  71. "Big E Langston's IC title win...the Miz's heel turn in a tag match...the twelve-man tag..."
"Things that should have happened at Survivor Series!"
    *Ding*

    ReplyDelete
  72. You mean that feud that essentially killed both his career and R-Truth's? Yeah, I remember that.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Or the legendary Swagger series from Superstars a couple years ago. That was a good feud, only Superstars feud I can remember :P

    ReplyDelete
  74. In all fairness, they were the reason for the low buyrate...

    ReplyDelete
  75. Swagger and Kofi had some very good matches

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'd be surprised. Heel Punk kills face Punk IMO, but he turned face less then a year ago and I still see 1 more Brock match upcoming.

    ReplyDelete
  77. You know it be really funny on this pre-show stuff if one of the matches went over time and they had to say "Sorry fans we're outta time!"

    ReplyDelete
  78. Probably Swaggers best singles matches he's had.

    ReplyDelete
  79. As much as I hate the stalemate to open a match sequence, that one was especially laughable.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Except its a pre show this time.

    ReplyDelete
  81. He could play the character ironically and yell out "QUIET!", like the librarian from All That.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Stick around...as Raw rolls on!

    ReplyDelete
  83. They'd be idiots to turn him heel.

    ReplyDelete
  84. WAIT ONE DAMN SECOND...why am I getting a fuckin' commercial during the pre-show?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Why do we need commercials on a YouTube show?

    ReplyDelete
  86. John Cena's drawing power should never be questioned.

    ReplyDelete
  87. So they've made anti-progress. That's...great.

    ReplyDelete
  88. It was the only time he really stood out to me.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I dunno, heel punk vs face bryan would work very well, the fans would stick with Bryan I think and actually boo heel punk instead of cheering his heel awesomeness.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Pretty sure there was a midcard belt involved last year too.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Cause the guys don't know how to work matches now without the 'roll out to the floor for commercial break' spot?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Because the pre-show is made to get last minute sales of the PPV

    ReplyDelete
  93. so in between this shit and football, is anyone paying any attention to the hot stove/mlb offseason?

    ReplyDelete
  94. I wonder if they do those at the house shows now so the audience has time to hit the bathroom and grab a pretzel.

    ReplyDelete
  95. THREADJACK!~

Think Bully will take Brooke Hogan back now?

    ReplyDelete
  96. The Fielder/Kinsler trade was a pretty big deal that should work out in both teams favors.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I posted this in the predictions thread, but if you want to spend about 7 minutes between now and the ppv, give this a shot:

"Maybe they should use some of the guys (mostly talent and agents, surprise surprise) who do the JBL and Cole Show to book some stuff for Survivor Series...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta__kdPU7SU

From the allusion to Anchorman, to Ziggler FINALLY calling JBL out on his "Zigger" calls instead of saying "ziggLer", to Renee Young looking mighty fine in a tight dress, to Sandow singing, to the Cena/Big E. man love... just truly funny stuff.

It's only seven minutes long. Watch it. They put all of of the creative efforts of a 3 hour raw to shame.

    ReplyDelete
  98. You're talking about wwe creative so...

    ReplyDelete
  99. Because YouTube likes to annoy us?

    ReplyDelete
  100. The AL West is, once again, proving to be the champions of the offseason between the Rangers getting Fielder and the Angels trading for Freese. Naturally, this will blow up in both of their faces, because that's just how these things always end for them.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Don't have Steven Ferrari ask him about it

    ReplyDelete
  102. In person you don't even know they went to break if it happens during a match since they wrestle through it.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Not that it's gonna be a hit or anything, but ABC Family just has to love that WWE turned the star of their new movie heel two weeks before it premieres.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Kofi has good matches with damn near everyone

    ReplyDelete
  105. Yeah, and Miz got a stiff kick in the head because of it.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I want Bully to go back to what he was before the Aces and 8's ever happened. That character was amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Could Bret, Foley, and Booker T book a better angle on the fly during the pre-game show than the writers have came up with in a year?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Look, asking about Brooke's ass would've been the most inappropriate questions out there... he was never going to ask it!!!!!! Let it go, man. Let it go.

    ReplyDelete
  109. A part of me was hoping Detroit would go chase Cano (Miggy and Cano in the same lineup would be a scary, scary sight). Guess it'll now be between Texas and the Yankees.

    ReplyDelete
  110. SOS replaces the Playmaker as the WWE's stupidest move

    ReplyDelete
  111. Eh I'm not a big Kofi fan, his offense at times just seems so randomly mixed together without real motivation towards winning a match. But he is a good worker, but he can bore me at times.

This match is very enjoyable so far though.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Dad: "Lauren, honey? What's the matter?"
Lauren: "I was going to watch that new Christmas movie with The Miz, but...but...he turned heel. He's a bad guy now."
    Dad: "So?"
Lauren: "SO?! MOM WAS RIGHT, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING!'

    ReplyDelete
  113. Bret could do it alone. Foley and Booker could tell him with tears in their eyes that it was the best on-the-fly angle they've ever seen booked.

    ReplyDelete
  114. They wanted to get rid of Fielder's contract to re-sign Scherzer whose contract is going to be on its final season i believe.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Is this show going to be any good? I have very little hope.

Unrelated: This girl i'm seeing decided we should watch Magic Mike and to my surprise, Kevin Nash was in it. It made me laugh so hard, though she didn't get it, because he played a lazy stripper. Talk about perfect casting.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Am I just stoned or are these two wrestling like they're stoned?

    ReplyDelete
  117. So Seth could be killing off the easiest one to voice?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Biggest pop Miz has gotten in ages, and it's after they've just turned him heel.

    I hate smark crowds sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hey that was a fine opener

    ReplyDelete
  120. Miz is in a movie?

    ReplyDelete
  121. Punk/Bryan/The Wyatts will put on a good match and the 5-on-5 match could be good. The rest of the card looks like the drizzling shits.

    ReplyDelete
  122. They had a Cano type player and traded him away.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Boston can be pretty smarky,

    ReplyDelete
  124. Sadly, I've heard mark conversations at live events and bars that are eerily similar to that.

    ReplyDelete
  125. The Wyatts haven't shown a thing as far as in ring ability, so I'll disagree there.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Sitting in the balcony, and I gotta say the kids LOVE Kofi

    ReplyDelete
  127. Wow, that made zero sense. Make Kofi look like a sore loser.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yanks signed McCann to a five-year deal, which is more than they've done the last two seasons, so that's fun.

    ReplyDelete
  129. World Wrestling Entertainment
    Our Heroes Are Sore Losers

    ReplyDelete
  130. Well Cena/ADR should be a good match as well, even if folks seem to hate at least one of them if not both as of late.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Christmas TV movie on ABC Family.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Mike Ilitch seems desperate for a WS. I wouldn't have been shocked to see him going all in this year and chasing Robbie.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Ok, if they changed their minds and went with a double-turn for Miz and Kofi later, that could be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Bryan can carry a mop to a good match :P

    ReplyDelete
  135. I want to play two-person spin the bottle with Renee Young.

*Lands on air with every spin*

    ReplyDelete
  136. I expect a lot of hero-in-peril in that match.

    ReplyDelete
  137. yeah, I'm loving this offseason already. Keeping Girardi was obvious, and making McCann a priority was great to see (btw, fuck you Chris Stewart, and fuck off!)

Now I just hope they figure out the pitching situation, and do so without signing Joe Nathan.

    ReplyDelete
  138. How has ESPN/Fox/NBC not hired Renee Young away yet?

    ReplyDelete
  139. She doesn't really have that irritating journalistic cadence.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Does that stuff even matter anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  141. Rachel Nichols is the first person that came to mind.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I think what you are saying is that even by rigging the odds, you'd never get to make out with her

    ReplyDelete
  143. I don't want her to go - I'm just saying she definitely has the talent to be doing the interview thing for major sports network.

    ReplyDelete

  144. Not watching, did Kofi also turn or something

    ReplyDelete
  145. Ugh, so much on TV on Sundays. Walking Dead, Homeland, a Griffin getting killed off, the Boardwalk Empire finale, this live thread.

SPREAD THAT SHIT OUT, TELEVISION. SERIOUSLY.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I'm still telling you to ut-shay on the new ob-jay. Don't give anyone any ideas. She's ours

    ReplyDelete
  147. More or less, yes.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Miz beat Kofi clean and Kofi slapped him after. It looked really heelish on Kofi's part.

    ReplyDelete
  149. A Griffin is biting it on Family Guy?

    ReplyDelete
  150. Again I weep for you and your problems

    ReplyDelete
  151. Welcome to Monday Night RAW!!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Well, the WWE's going to counter with a HHH PROMO! One that you have to PAY MONEY for!

    ReplyDelete
  153. Even on PPV HHH starts off *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  154. Dude, it's like they were reading my mind... I wanted more HHH

    ReplyDelete
  155. PPVS ARE BLOWOFFS! NO NEED FOR HHH PROMOS!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Only now, it COSTS MONEY!

    ReplyDelete
  157. Apparently. I thought they already did when they revealed that a year from now, Meg dies from septic shock or something as a result of inserting a frozen hot dog in her hoo-hah.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Steph with no choker = NO BUYS

    ReplyDelete
  159. Or maybe Kofi was showing his wild side again. Miz better not showcase a new car in the upcoming weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  160. You just would know a good sport entertainment if it did a stupid comedy skit in your face!

    ReplyDelete
  161. Stipulations that could've been announced on Raw for $1,000 Alex.

    ReplyDelete
  162. fucksake hhh, can you figure out if you're heel or fac eyet?

    ReplyDelete
  163. duh I think there might be non-physical interference tonight...

    ReplyDelete
  164. not a face not a face not a face not a face

    ReplyDelete
  165. Ladies and Gentlemen your heel authority figures.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I'd probably choke her in some form or another.

    ReplyDelete
  167. "There will be no physical interference..."

Oh good, so they're going to go with the music distraction in the main event. I wondered when that finish would make the big time.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Steph looked fantastic

    ReplyDelete
  169. Choker? I hardly know her!

    ReplyDelete
  170. Yea man. That 9-10 hour always fucks me up. Homeland, family guy, nfl, and WWE. Going with the tv and computer duel watch. Still can only watch 2 tho...

    ReplyDelete
  171. Let's just have some meta-physical interference for a change.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Kane distracts Big Show with a VERY complex riddle. Orton capitalizes.

    ReplyDelete
  173. They should bring out a t-shirt gun to add to the confusion.

    ReplyDelete
  174. One of my favorite lame jokes. Kudos

    ReplyDelete
  175. Yes, but they should only shoot out those leftover pink shirts.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Big Show being RKO'ed while filling out the World's Smallest Political Quiz would be novel.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Somewhere in HHHs mind he's thinking "I know I'm supposed to be a heel, but who the fuck would want to boo me. Seriously, just look at me..."

    ReplyDelete
  178. This isn't a "turn Cena heel" question, but how do you make him compelling at this point?

    ReplyDelete
  179. Vince: "We'll have Hunter raise the brief case!"
HHH: "But Vince, this match has nothing to do with a briefc--"
Vince: "GODDAMMIT, I SAID SHAVE THOSE SIDEBURNS!"
    HHH: ".....I hate working here."

    ReplyDelete
  180. He stops smiling all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Hmm, interesting. Jesse Baker has all sorts of theories...

but most of them involve ass rape.

    ReplyDelete
  182. That was an odd opening with HHH then into the promo bit and another opening.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Welcome to my head. You may not enjoy your stay.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Right now, you can't. All he has is the same old roster of heels that he's already beaten.

    ReplyDelete
  185. Have him feud with Punk again and lead to the hour long Iron man match that feud deserved

    ReplyDelete
