In honor of the WWE Network, lets talk about some of our favorite moments that have been lost in the shuffle / aren't spectacular, but appreciated anyway. I always think the key to a good match is the ability to make it 'feel' real to people who know its fake. Like when a table doesn't break on an Elbow drop, or Shawn took that Moonsault on his knees during Wrestlemania a few years back (though I disliked that match - maybe I should rewatch it!)
Thus, two questions today:
Question 1: What are your favorite little moments from Wrestling history - little bumps or sequences or matches that delivered something memorable, not because of greatness, but because of creativity - that you can access on WWE Network.
Question 2: If you don't have WWE Network, how long have you been in Al Qaeda?
My current plan is to seek out:
1) All of the WCW 'water' bumps as soon as I can, though I guess most happened on Nitro if resident actual professional writer Mr. Ferrari is to be believed.
2) All the crazy Shane O' Mac bumps I can find, including rewatching that KOTR match with him and Kurt Angle.
3) This is where I need your help: Shoot moments or botched finishes or silly things that have happened in matches that I've never seen!
*I know this is the name of a former 411mania column.

I'm torn about the network. I haven't watched wrestling regularly for over 10 years, and my wife and I have trimmed our expenses to the point where I was able to buy a pretty sweet car. I like not having many monthly payments, but..... having everything, ever would be pretty sweet. On the other hand, I work full time, go to school part-time, and try to carve out other time for family and friends..... but everything, ever....... shit.......
ReplyDelete"Resident Actual Professional Writer Mr. Ferrari" is how I'm signing off on all of my emails from now on.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping they continue with the old Raws. The first set of episodes are so much fun for the trainwreck announcing.
No network because Canada, and too lazy to figure out a way around that.
ReplyDeleteThe network seems to have brought quite a few new(ish) posters out of the woodwork. I'm seeing a tonne of names I don't know.
Ditto! And where has Farva been?
ReplyDelete"Question 2: If you don't have WWE Network, how long have you been in Al Qaeda?"
ReplyDeleteThey get my money when Daniel Bryan is champion.
Q1: You know what, I've been quite negative towards the Evolution guys this morning. So I'll go back to after SummerSlam, during the Orton "coronation".
ReplyDeleteHHH/Steph/Orton being a little... tenative... before the handshake and hug, HHH's line about "the coal that has now become the diamond"... that was an okay start to the fall angle lineup. So what if it went to shit? ;)
Q2: None of your business, Spawn of Great Satan. ;)
You missed the workaround yesterday... just put in any random U.S. address, and you're good to go. At least that was yesterday's answer... people from Canada and England/Scotland were getting in using that method... even Scott got in that way.
ReplyDeleteFor awhile I used to credit myself as "The American Harvey Pekar" on various things.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even consider signing up yesterday. After Diablo III and Simcity launches I will probably never be a first day guy for anything on the internet again.
ReplyDeleteOnce all the kinks are worked out I might look into it. I've been really busy with work and a major home project too so I probably couldn't do it justice right now at any rate.
But I thought you told us how terrible it was and how no one should think it's a good idea because it wasn't their first plan.
ReplyDeleteDunno, it is odd for him to be away this long.
ReplyDeleteOop, wait, figured it out: http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/story/24808478/2014/02/24/medical-board-slow-to-discipline-doctor-for-sexually-inappropriate-behavior-with-patient
ReplyDeleteSmart man.
ReplyDeleteConsidering they're probably never putting the belt on Bryan, I think BigNasty has made his decision known.
ReplyDeleteThat is almost certainly it.
ReplyDeleteHow did you find that?
I googled Florida Doctor and it was the fourth post down from "Florida Doctors Giving Medical Marijuana Out for Itchy Backs"
ReplyDeleteThat sounds more like Farva...
ReplyDeleteI'd be very surprised if he doesn't have a long run this year.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite Raw moments was when Taker was going to sacrifice Steph. It was corny as hell and so ridiculous.. but the moment the glass smashed and Austin came out to make the save after The Union couldn't still gives me goose bumps.
ReplyDeleteThen the very next week Vince was The Higher Power, right?
ReplyDeleteQ1: I misread the question... thought it was actually a "Hidden Highlights" question... But it IS available on the Network, right?
ReplyDelete"They get my money when Daniel Bryan is champion."
ReplyDeleteI second that!
I'm confused, because the first paragraph doesn't really seem to relate to the question it was purportedly the lead-in to. It seems like you're talking more about unintended little foibles that make wrestling seem more authentic, but then that's not really what the question's about when you say it relates to "creativity."
ReplyDeleteIf you're asking more about the former, I'll throw in a couple of Punk's "botches" in the MITB match that dumb people downgraded the match for, as if it somehow detracted from the match. I agree that stuff like that makes it seem more authentic when not all the rough edges are rounded off. It may not have been intentional, but they added to the match in showing the manic, desperate nature Punk portrayed flawlessly (even if every move wasn't flawless).
They get my money once I have money to spend
ReplyDeleteThat whole period was a blur (Austin/Taker seemed to be feuding forever) but yeah it could have been.
ReplyDeleteThat segment has just stayed with me for years for some reason.
Not bad. So ridiculous, but so fun. The Attitude Era in a nutshell. One of my favorite moments was somewhat similar, Austin returning to lay out the Corporation to help Foley win his first title. Holy lord, just a series of ungodly pops- Austin's entrance, Austin swinging the chair at everything that moves, Foley winning the title...crowds just don't get that insane these days. Probably because they're less drunk than in the Attitude Era.
ReplyDeleteBetween that and the "finger poke" on Nitro, what an unreal night to be a 15-year old wrestling fan.
Yes again.
ReplyDeleteI actually started watching wrestling full time the Raw AFTER that show.
ReplyDeleteI know, it's like everyone wants to be apart of the BoD scene all of a sudden.
ReplyDeleteLets feed them lies like "Meekin is Pithy and well hung" and "Jesse Baker is a reasonable man"
ReplyDeleteWhat did you expect from him? To do what Dwayne did in 2011 when he "hyped up" the Mania main event by degrading both people in it? Hogan announced he'd be at Mania 30, he got the crowd fired up for the show, that's just fine.
ReplyDeleteIt was a weird sorta match for me in that I enjoyed the hell out of sitting back and watching it, but wasn't becoming unglued for it. Just watching two big hosses lay the flesh on one another (sauce it)
ReplyDeleteWhat about Caliber is the greatest poster of all time?
ReplyDeleteConsidering that WWE has now shown that they will kowtow to any past wrestler who just happens to be in a major studio movie, I'm wondering:
ReplyDeleteHow long will it be until they bring Kurrgan back?
They gave Batista a Royal Rumble and a Wrestlemania main event just for having a minor role in one movie that hasn't even been released yet whereas Kurrgan has been in several huge blockbusters (and had a funny performance in We're The Millers to boot).
I'm thinking if Batista could get that much off of that little, then Kurrgan would easily get a Hulk Hogan-level 4 year title reign if they lured him back.
Watching BattleBowl 93 because I wanted the novelty of a Shockmaster match other than the initial one... Who is this Fifi chick drawing the names with Mean Gene? She's not Torrie Wilson's poodle is she? Also, WCW had a guy named Charlie Norris?!?
ReplyDeleteAh, missed it. A lot of threads have been blowing up lately and I've been too lazy to get into them.
ReplyDeleteIn what universe are 1999 (hell, ANY year) Vince McMahon and 2014 HHH similar threats?
ReplyDeleteHHH doesn't need an avatar, he's a 14ish-time World Champion who's regarded by the fans as one of the (kayfabe) greatest wrestlers of all-time.
I think you nailed a lot of this here, and the other big thing: Rock was a surprise! I don't even remember if it had been leaked and was common knowledge, because I don't remember there being a huge "Rocky" chant (like Lesnar's 2012 return everyone knew about, for example) and I don't remember knowing anything about it until it was spoiled for me on Facebook, as I was watching later in the night on DVR.
ReplyDeleteI wish they'd bring more guys back as surprises rather than the breathless "Batista returns!" videos for four weeks that I think has played a big part in his horrible reception. Granted, nothing was going to sit well with that Royal Rumble crowd with Bryan not in it- and after the fact, his inability to deal with a crowd who's not responding well to him would torpedo anything, anyway- but bringing Batista in as a surprise winner would have been easier to stomach.
Also, you just gave me a column idea, so thanks for that.
The whole Attitude era tends to run together for me for the most part.
ReplyDeleteFifi is Wendy Barlow, who is now Flair's girlfriend
ReplyDeleteThey are going to make Scott a happy man.
ReplyDeleteSadly, that wasn't Kurrgan in We're the Millers.
ReplyDeleteHowever, he was part of that kick ass fight scene in Sherlock Holmes.
The crowd was dead from the outset.
ReplyDeleteHere's another interesting look at how WWE's roster doesn't turn over like it used to:
ReplyDeleteOnly ONE wrestler who wrestled at WrestleMania I wrestled at WrestleMania X (Lelani Kai). Roddy Piper competed at I and appeared at X as a referee.
Only ONE wrestler who wrestled at WrestleMania V wrestled at WrestleMania XV (Owen Hart)
Only ONE wrestler who wrestled at WrestleMania X wrestled at WrestleMania XX (Shawn Michaels)
Only FOUR wrestlers who wrestled at WrestleMania XV wrestled at WrestleMania XXV (Triple H, Big Show, Undertaker, Kane). Edge and Christian made an appearance at XV to hang The Big Bossman and competed at XXV, and Bradshaw, Matt Hardy, and Jeffy Hardy took part in the battle royal on Sunday Night Heat before XV and competed at XXV.
POTENTIALLY TEN wrestlers who wrestled at WrestleMania XX could wrestle at WrestleMania XXX (John Cena, Triple H, Big Show, Christian, Randy Orton, Batista, Rey Mysterio, Brock Lesnar, Undertaker, Kane). Additionally, it wouldn't be out of the question for appearances by Ric Flair, Booker T, Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, and who knows who else from XX who could pop up to do something. We could end up seeing something like 15 people who appeared on-camera at XX appear at XXX. Well, except for Benoit and Eddie.
Of course, the lack of an alternative major company means than from Mania 17 to present wrestlers haven't been leaving the company as often.
Much better streaming today. Saw bits and pieces of Wrestlemania Rewind. That's the late Pat Summerall as narrator, isn't it.
ReplyDeletePeople don't dislike him because Hunter likes him.
ReplyDeletePeople dislike him because he's boring in the ring, horrible on the microphone, appears to have an awful attitude backstage, gets away with things that would cause 90% of the rest of the roster to be fired over, and gets away with violating the wellness policy: all without ever really drawing any money or ever being as 'over' as his status on the card warrants.
Ah, must be a long-time on-again-off-again, since Mean Gene mentions that she used to have an affiliation with Flair.
ReplyDeletewe were getting excited because a lot of people (including me) thought Rock vs. Cena would somehow be happening at WrestleMania XVII.
ReplyDeleteI'm sending you a pic cause it won't let me post here.
ReplyDeleteFor kbjone

ETA: Been awhile since I've seen that film but yeah, that sadly was not him. Looked like him to an absolute tee though.
ReplyDeleteThat guy that was in the movie should get into wrestling, much like Ava Koxxx he's in the wrong business.
Yeah, this is an instance where I care a lot more about who wins than how good the match is. No one can be sure, at this point, how capable Hunter is of having a great match with a fast-paced guy like Bryan.
ReplyDeleteThat said, if Hunter's committed to putting someone over strong, I see no reason he won't have his working boots on and be able to put on a show with Bryan. They can have a great 20-25 minute match and still have Bryan go over as strong as possible to end the angle.
I'll grant you he's a dick, but so are a lot of favorite wrestlers. However, I've been watching every Raw with a critical eye for the past 6 months and have seen a guy take matches the crowd wanted nothing to do with and make them cheer his opponent and boo him. That's talent.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point.
ReplyDeleteRight, but if we're lucky, they'll split up The Shield, Reigns can flop in a singles push and he'll lose to Billy Gunn when Dean Ambrose's music distracts him.
ReplyDeletePaul Roma dropped a pretty nice flying elbow on Alex Wright at Superbrawl V. At least, I remember him getting some good air on it. Now I'm having trouble remembering if it even connected. Oh look! WWE Network!
ReplyDeleteIt's weird, because can you imagine them capturing that sort of moment these days?
ReplyDeleteI mean Daniel Bryan winning the title could have had that sort of impact but I can't see them pulling the trigger and I think the moment has passed.
Hogan used sparingly, like Piper, sounds like a pretty good idea to me.
ReplyDeleteWait, his name is Dwayne??! Wow.
ReplyDeleteRock built a feud with Cena that absolutely sold a shitload of PPVs. His "degrading" of those guys popped a buyrate for a show (Mania 27) that absolutely was going to bomb.
I would have liked for Hogan to do something less anticlimactic than flub some shill lines and restate something that had already been in a press release 3 days before. Interact with a wrestler, let someone get some heat on him, maybe book a stipulation for Mania that people would be interested in. Instead they had him come out and cut a bad promo that basically promised... hey, I'll be doing this again in 5 weeks. Ok, cool.
http://www.wrestlecrap.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/163.jpg
ReplyDeleteHere's a thought: what if Hunter does lay down for Bryan but the match is structured in a way that makes Bryan look like shit? Like, Hunter will have at least one or two visuals pinfalls while the ref is out, probably a result of his own doing to show "irony", and he'll probably take all of Bryan's finishers at least once in addition to doing them himself as in the Undertaker matches (Bryan doesn't get to do the Pedigree). Additionally, Bryan probably won't win off his own finisher, or even Hunter's, but rather as a fluke, probably from a botched interference by a member of the Authority (likely Kane). So yeah, Bryan wins, but he still doesn't really gain much from because Hunter's still made to look like the better man.
ReplyDeleteLogically, no. But the fun of it all is suspending disbelief. Undertaker matches are constructed in a way where for 20 minutes or so, I don't think about how obvious it is that he's winning. I enjoy the ride the match takes me on.
ReplyDeleteBut again, even if HHH jobs, is it going to come after he spent the entire match on offense and making Bryan look like a joke? Look at what he did to Lesnar at Extreme Rules last year.
ReplyDeleteMark Henry's run was awesome, and all he's had since was the BRILLIANT retirement angle that resulted in a very good PPV match with Cena that had the wrong finish. That is all.
ReplyDeleteI think so, too.
ReplyDeleteIs it crazy to think that Bryan/HHH goes on before the title match, with the stip that Bryan gets a title match after he beats Triple H... only to put him IN the title match itself right after he beats Triple H in a last second attempt to screw him?
ReplyDeleteI know it's impossible because, hey, Triple H, but how big would the pop be if Bryan won in 18 seconds? Add Trips getting cocky and adding a stipulation along the lines of, "If you beat me, you're added to the main event but if you lose, you never get a title shot again," and things go nuclear.
ReplyDeleteListen, overall I agree. I'm not advocating that Hogan wrestle again or be interjected as the main angle of the show. He totally needs to be used sparingly.
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying that for his first appearance on WWE in like 7 years, I was surprised at how it ended up feeling like such a nothing moment. They didn't do anything that would make fans be excited about seeing him again.
I hope that either that, or a WrestleMania 10 like deal happens with Bryan.
ReplyDeleteSomething that goes unmentioned about Santino's charater: he routinely bangs his way through the diva roster. Maria, Beth, probably Vickie at some point during their feud, and now Emma.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot Tamina.
ReplyDeleteOnly if they do a stip leading up to the match that he only gets ONE shot this year at the title IF he beats Trips...they go through a battle and then Trips tells him his title shot is now, so he better make it count.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be perceived as a benefit for the heels to do that, otherwise, it's giving Bryan exactly what he wants. Of course, with the way The Authority has been booked, I wouldn't be surprised if they were faces and heels throughout the entirety of Mania.
Santino should be put in a feud with Kane over who's banged the most Divas from a kayfabe standpoint.
ReplyDeleteYup, add that notch to his belt. His name should be SM Punk.
ReplyDeleteWell that's 100% what's gonna happen. Bryan gets his ass kicked, HHH kicks out of the running knee, and Bryan wins with a roll-up after Kane either screws up or turns. (Setting up Kane getting all the heat and HHH being able to chalk it up as a fluke.)
ReplyDeleteThere's no way this gets booked in a way that makes HHH look like the loser of the fight.
Eh, Kane's always ended up with the homely-looking ones. Santino wins based on quality.
ReplyDeleteHa, that was funny to me.
ReplyDeleteDifferent Q - if Bootista is pretty much getting the title (maybe as a contract stip), then why would putting Bryan in there be a good idea? Yeah, he instantly improves the match, but he wouldn't win the title, so how does that help him?
ReplyDeleteAnd if they really wanted to do the triple threat, they could've easily had Bryan win at EC, and Orton invoke his rematch clause at WM, with Batista still getting his shot.
I think maybe that had more to do with Brock's "limited dates" contract. It was stupid as hell, yes, but I would hope that with a full-timer (especially considering HHH is just a part-timer now), that he would wrestle a normal match.
ReplyDeleteConfession.. i chose not to get the WWE Network for a couple of reasons and then I capitulated last night.. BUT after signing up for a wwe.com acct, I couldn't find a way to sign up for the actual Network. So I gave up and watched Raw instead. I'm not 100% happy with the offerings so far, but I do feel it's a value for the money they are asking, so I'll probably try again later today...
ReplyDeleteI fully expect Shawn Michales to be the most entertaining part of this match.
ReplyDeleteHe could always win it the next night, on the show that's been hotter than the show of shows itself.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Santino would win. Plus dumping Terri with no explanation traumatized her to the point that she decided to date New Jack so Santino's exes are at least still somewhat normal after the relationship ends.
ReplyDeleteEspecially with PPVs being on the Network now. Raw is going to be the show where they book big angles and pay things off. PPVs are going to be really interesting to watch this year to see if ANYTHING major happens on them. I'm doubting it.
ReplyDelete"Please stop! PLEASE STOP!"
ReplyDeleteThey had Brock Lesnar fucking CRYING because HHH was beating him up so bad. And that's Brock Lesnar, acknowledged as one of the legit toughest men alive, and even he wasn't allowed to look stronger than HHH ina fight.
Imagine how bad Bryan will have to look!
I honestly think HHH gets about 2-3 visual wins with the ref knocked out (pinfall, Bryan tapping out, Bryan trying to run away through the crowd) before he gets his small package win.
And that's a BEST CASE.
Similar scenario for me. I opted it against it as I have a bajillion hours of DVDs and hard drive files I can watch on demand already. If I was into the current product and cared about the PPVs, that would be a different story...
ReplyDeleteHe already won the title. And it had no impact b/c they telegraphed the Dusty Finish/we're going to screw him over tomorrow story so it was impossible to get invested.
ReplyDeleteI remember that one.
ReplyDeleteHmm. I think that's a bit too heavy-handed because it doesn't have to do with this storyline, and I think Andy makes a good point. But you just gave me an even better column idea than WorstInTheWorld did.
ReplyDeleteThat's right! Mr. Wrestlemania has gotta get his payday.
ReplyDeleteOK, here's my prediction: HHH beats Bryan's ass for 20 minutes, gets a bunch of visual victories with the ref down, and finally HBK enters the ring, looks side to side... and then superkicks HHH and puts Bryan's limp body over HHH.
That match did not have the wrong finish.
ReplyDeleteKane hooked up with Terri? I thought it was Tori who turned on him to hook up with X-Pac only to end up as Raven's female ninja.
ReplyDeleteI'm so on a budget, but that price is so GOOD.. The main thing stopping me is the lack of older programming like Championship Wrestling and the JCP shows, but I so want to take advantage of the free week as well.. sheesh
ReplyDeleteMy prediction for Bryan/HHH:
ReplyDeleteHHH beats Bryan's ass for 20 minutes, gets a
bunch of visual victories with the ref down, and finally HBK enters the
ring, looks side to side... and then superkicks HHH and puts Bryan's
limp body over HHH.
HHH will job to Michaels basically.
As others have stated, the live streaming programming is coming in great. I still cannot get any of the on demand PPVs to stream for more than a few minutes at a time. This is not good at all.
ReplyDeleteThat's why they went with the one week free trial. Although, their network guys must be sweating bullets right now trying to get all the bugs sorted out in time.
ReplyDeleteI'm just burnt out on Randy Orton. He's been a constant presence on-screen for 10 years now. He's gotten less interesting as time goes on. When he was brought back as the focus on Raw, I was fine with it because enough time had passed and you think "well, it'll be nice to have someone different." Then he does his routine and I get bored all over again.
ReplyDeleteWho has been reporting that Batista was GUARANTEED a Royal Rumble win and Wrestlemania Title match win?
ReplyDeleteI'm not getting my hopes up on them doing something special with Bryan, aside from maybe they'll put Bryan/HHH on last to avoid the the crowd farting on Orton/Batista or sitting on their hands through a slow-paced Taker/Brock match for the finale.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Triple H will begin Raw the next night with a lengthy promo that makes Bryan look bad, too. In fact, they'll make Bryan go out on a stretcher and Triple H walk out so he can repeat the whole "Undertaker couldn't leave under his own power" thing that he did at Mania 27.
ReplyDeleteI think he's been doing as good of a job in this role ever since August as anyone could have asked. He was the perfect guy for the part. Not his fault the storyline has sucked the last couple months.
ReplyDeleteShe was his manager/maid in 1993
ReplyDeleteThis is why they went with the free trial offer for a week. There were almost certainly going to be glitches and now they have a week to fix it before anybody is out any money. If the service still sucks in 7 days...then its time to complain.
ReplyDeleteYeah, did he get the same kind of IRON CLAD CONTRACT as The Big Show?
ReplyDeleteWe have the hindsight of knowing about Cena's tricep injury. At the time, noone knew.
ReplyDeletePlus you would have to have an account
ReplyDeleteIf it's a great match, I'm fine if it goes that way. But I don't think it's a best case because one match with Lesnar (I know they had three, but you're not referencing all three) is a small sample size.
ReplyDeleteTriple H also- in his prime, no less- put over Benoit, Batista and Cena strong as hell to close out three straight Wrestlemanias. So while I don't discount your scenario, I'd hardly label it the best case.
I don't think booking Hunter to look as strong as Lesnar was the mistake. Because Cena and Punk both went into their matches with Lesnar on pretty even footing, too. The problem was Triple H is the wrong kind of worker to go with Lesnar these days. He needs someone who can work a manic pace and bump like a lunatic for him, and I don't think the case was that HHH was unwilling as much as he was unable.
God I hope so. I really think hhh might just go over here and job at the April ppv
ReplyDeleteProof in the pudding, no?
ReplyDelete10? LOL
ReplyDeleteIf the money is in Bryan winning the title, wouldn't you want to promote Bryan being in the match BEFORE the show? Unless they make it clear beforehand that Bryan will get slotted into the main event if he beats HHH.
ReplyDeleteOf course, if WWE is intent on putting the belt on Batista (and I'm thinking they are based on having him speak out tonight on Smackdown), all this is moot.
Yeah 0 chance like you said. Hhh is death for Getting a guy over. See lesnar, Brock.
ReplyDeleteI've had no problem with PPV or TV or Live Stream. Try updating flash and using Chrome or Firefox.
ReplyDeleteI use chrome, still couldnt get PPV to work. Of course I was having same issue on my kindle fire HD. Could not load video error. reinstalling flash, we'll see
ReplyDeleteMy internet goes down for a day and half, Harold Ramis dies, and the Network is on the fritz. I blame someone other than myself.
ReplyDeleteNo, the attempted sacrifice was late April, early May. The higher power was early June.
ReplyDeletekiller bees using masks so opponents coudln't tell them apart. Of course now everyone wears black so refs confuse everyone all the time!
ReplyDeleteIf I do end up getting the Network, I'm going to spend a good chunk of time watching Owen Hart's heel turn and the subsequent matches.
ReplyDeleteTo this day, one of my favorite little moments was the WM10 match, where Owen celebrated a headlock like he pulled off some great technical master move that humiliated Bret. Lawler was RIGHT THERE with him: "That was GREAT, Owen!"
I blame you too.
ReplyDeleteI signed up for the Network and have no regrets, BUT...
ReplyDeleteThere's no cancel button. And the phone line hangs up on you when you try to call.
I accidentally signed up for two accounts. I'm not worried about it- I have Amex, so I know I can do a chargeback on the one account if it comes to it. But how do you roll this out without ANY support options or cancel options?
(This probably interests me more as an analyst than anything else.)
I plan to watch crazy Mick Foley moments and as many four-plus star matches as I can. Plus I'm deficient on ECW stuff.
I mean, it's been a day. For starters signing up comes with a 6 month subscription so you can't really cancel after the first week, and I imagine the phone lines are SWAMPED with Wrestling Fans who may or may not be tech savy calling to complain about things that may be out of the WWE's hands.
ReplyDeleteNext week in Chicago DB vs Orton. HHH at ringside interfering then Batista comes down for the save, but turns on Brian! Oh no what to do?
ReplyDeleteCult of Personality blares over the speakers and CM Punk kills HHH, Batista, then Orton with a chair and DB wins the title.
UT whacking Mankind off the the apron with the steps to send him flying headfirst through a table is one of my favorite bumps. Fucking sick.
ReplyDeleteI've sporadically had problems with the PPV streams. Sometimes I get a media error, other times it works perfectly fine. The one ECW show I watched was reeeeeeaally slow to load, though.
ReplyDeleteThe first time Roman Reigns hit the dropkick to someone (Punk?) on the apron the way he sold his own move was really cool like he was admiring his own work.
ReplyDeleteI don't like watching stuff on the computer, so no network for me
ReplyDeleteObama! Thanks Obama!
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I'm a little disappointed with the original content. Granted, it's only been a day, but is it me or is the catchphrase countdown, legends of wrestling roundtable, hbk/bret show and WM1 just on a loop? I feel like they should have banked about a week's worth of stuff for the roll out. Not really complaining, just more or less confused as to why I keep seeing the same shows in rotation in the first day.
ReplyDeleteThey have things that hook up to ur tv so u can watch it on that, playstations rukus, apple tv, xbox, a wii with internet, ipad, even get a wire from ur comouter to ur tv
ReplyDeleteI'm old fashioned, I don't have any of that.
ReplyDeleteDolph winning the title last year was pretty good, though that was in a good market. Not sure where the Foley title switch happened.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a reasonably modern TV and computer you can probably just hook one directly into the other.
ReplyDeleteI'm watching SummerSlam '99 on the Network now, which is a huge nostalgia rush for me. SS '99 was the first pay-per-view I ever saw. I had just moved back to New York a few days after the show, and our neighbor was a big time wrestling fan, taped SummerSlam and let us have it. My older brother taped porn over it a few years later, though.
ReplyDeleteFucking Bush
ReplyDeleteI hear ya, but for me $10 is buying lunch at work one day. I've cancelled a few other services (gym -ha- and Sirius XM Radio) to help make room for it. I have to give it a shot, if even for just six months.
ReplyDeleteWorcester Massachusetts, home to Metal Fest and...that.
ReplyDeleteThat's just being stubborn ha.
ReplyDeleteWell I think we all know that you can thank Herbert Hoover for that!
ReplyDeleteI just want to be involved.
Can anyone get this to go full-screen on firefox on a desktop computer? When I press the full-screen thing, it makes it larger but the picture doesn't reach the bottom of the screen.
ReplyDeleteThe on-demand stuff works well on Firefox.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't I downvote you?
ReplyDeleteI'm so pissed. The network won't work for me at all. Just got home from work and tossed on the ps3. I get the rating in the beginning and then it crashes and I get a fatal error message. Then on my tablet I can load any show but the buffering and slow stream makes it unwatchable. I am really bummed out that it seems to be working perfectly for everyone else
ReplyDeleteYou can... it's just not gonna show to anyone else.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be just like the XFL...promising early numbers that bleed lower once people realise that the product is all sizzle and no steak.
ReplyDeleteAnd I oughta know because, according to several Otters, I work for WWE!
I saw it all last night. Bolly rules!
ReplyDeleteThe ps3 app is not working
ReplyDeleteDisqus doesn't want anyone's feelings to be hurt.
ReplyDeleteThink I found the problem. Is that a 2400 baud modem underneath that half-eaten bag of Doritos?
ReplyDeleteGeorge bush doesn't care about wrestling fans!
ReplyDeleteI have come to Elvira.
ReplyDeleteWhich show?
ReplyDeleteHonestly I wish Vince would have charged like 30 or 40 bucks a month to price out some of these ham n eggers and have this stream running better for me
ReplyDeleteHave you tried queuing up a show, letting it play, then pausing it for like 45second to a minute to led it get ahead of you?

ReplyDeleteI'll try it now
ReplyDeleteThe episode of Raw with Savage vs. Repo Man.
ReplyDeleteRumble 2011 and Massacre on 34th Street are there now, so as far as I can tell, the only PPVs still missing from the Master List WWE.com had are Great American Bash 91, Insurrextion 2000, and Rumble 2014 (which I assume is just delayed rather than missing).
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I can login, and even play the video. It will start up and show the rating screen and then it just cuts out and says "fatal error restart the application"
ReplyDeletehave you 1) downloaded all the PS4 firmware stuff? 2) Shut down the PS3? Not just put to sleep, but unplug the power?
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried actually shutting the whole thing down. I still have the old ps3 with the switch in the back you can use. I'll try it now. I'm not sure about the firmware. I know my system update is the most recent one
ReplyDeleteIt does it fine on my laptop, but no clue on desktop.
ReplyDeleteCool. Yeah a lot of these things are tricky in that the servers are good, but differences in hardware and such can cause issues. For example in Disqus if I want to bold something I think I can go with a Hey but it'll oftentimes just cause weird mark up errors.
ReplyDeleteA few off the top of my head:
ReplyDelete- Rick Rude's "Cut the music. . ."
- Mr. Perfect's mannerisms, especially the gum swat and towel behind the back
- Ted Dibiase stuffing money in a jobber's mouth
- Edge spearing Jeff Hardy while he hangs from the belts
- Mick Foley entering the '98 Rumble three times
- Jobbers doing stretcher jobs after Sid's powerbombs ('90-'91 timeframe)
- Booker T. calling out Hogan :)
- Big Show as The Hulkster at Backlash 2000
- Team ECK's skits
- Kurt Angle with the milk truck
- The APA as bodyguards-for-hire
- The Crash Holly 24/7 Hardcore Rule (for a while)
- Eddie Guerrero in general
I have a cancel link in the Billing Information section of My Account.
ReplyDeleteThere is a cancel link in My Account> Billing Information for me.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cancel the auto-billing for six months ahead of time. I'd kind of like to not pay twice for the network for the next six months. I know, I'm a bad guy.
ReplyDeleteVINTAGE Top 5 Comment.
ReplyDeleteDon't have the network and won't until Daniel Bryan holds the title for more than 72 hours.
ReplyDeleteAll of the Commissioner Foley segments had lots of little things going on, both in the background and his little ad-libs. Plus the little touch of him having a cactus on his desk.
ReplyDeleteI admire your stance sir.
ReplyDeleteDemolition using three dudes. It was kinda cheesy because Ax and Crush looked nothing alike even in masks, but it was still fun for a young mark
ReplyDeletedo you have a black and white tv too?
ReplyDeleteCo-sign the jobbers doing stretcher jobs after getting squashed by Sid. Then he'd tip them over off the stretcher, kick there ass some more. Great stuff
ReplyDeleteThe segment where Foley finally gets to verbally one-up Rock, and does a lap of the ring pumping his fist and chanting his own name.
ReplyDeleteFall Brawl 2000 opening promo.
ReplyDeleteAction figures hitting other action figures with chairs.....nuff said
1) the HBK Farwell speech. Simple, understated, and transparent. Awesome seeing a guy finally at pieace. The part where he goes "you guys are the only ones that ever made me like me" is just awesome.
ReplyDelete2) Brock and the green hat
3) rock and Flairs first I traction at XX
4) Vince being pushed in a wheel chair b with a necklace by Patterson and Brisco
I'm glad I'm not the only one protesting. After ordering the last ppv of the modern era, just to be let down again, I have no interest in giving them any more of my money
ReplyDeleteI cant even log into the PS3/PS4 apps. Clicking on the continue button after providing the information does nothing. Anyone also having problems just trying to log in?
ReplyDeleteAs a 7-8 yr old mark, I was legit scared of Sid Vicious. Oddly enough, Earthquake didn't have the same effect despite being pushed similarly during the same time period. Sid just had that aura. Always loved the "from anywhere he damn well pleases" intro too
ReplyDeleteI co-sign all of these. Brock kicking the hat was tremendous.
ReplyDeleteThis was the good news when I heard that WWE has launched a
ReplyDelete24/7 online Network but it stuck to me like a thunder that only US citizen can
watch the greatest shows of WWE. I am very much disappointed and really had no
hope left until, I got PureVPN. With PureVPN highly optimized sports streaming
services, I supersede censorship and now I can watch all 12 PPV events live
online on WWE Network.
