From the WWE Network Vault, it's episode #30 of Eastern Championship Wrestling.
Original air date was 11/2/93.
We kick things off backstage, where The Sandman is with Peaches, and he is getting a title shot against ECW Heavyweight Champion, Shane Douglas. He says that he has held the title before, and tonight he's taking it back.
We cut to Joey Styles, who intros some footage of a match between the champ, Shane Douglas and The Sandman at Ultra Clash '93, which saw Douglas retain the title with a tug of the wetsuit. "Tugging the westuit" sounds a little dirty, if you know what I mean. Sandman gets his rematch on tonight's show.
We get a Sandman video package, before we cut back to Joey telling us that The Sandman is backstage with Peaches and he has more words for the champ.
Backstage, The Sandman is unconscious with a phone on his chest and Peaches screaming for help. ECW owner Tod Gordon steps in to find out what's going on, and why Sabu is headed to the ring. Paul E. Dangerously steps out of the dressing room, and says that he is still acting manager for Shane Douglas, and he put a clause in the match contract that states Paul can select a replacement to face the champ, and he chooses Sabu.
Match #1: Sabu vs. Shane Douglas (c) for the ECW Heavyweight Championship.
Sherri attacks Paul in the ring, the bell sounds and we're underway. Douglas and Sabu go at it, while Sherri goes to work on Paul. Sherri and Paul manage to get out of the ring, as Douglas slams Sabu, and drops an elbow coming off the ropes. Douglas with a superplex on Sabu. Sabu reverses a whip to the corner, and then hits a back suplex. Sabu to the top and hits a moonsault! 1...2...3! That's it! New champ! *
WINNER: And NEW ECW Heavyweight Champion, Sabu! Too short to be anything worthwhile. Sabu gets the rocket push straight to the top and he certainly made for an interesting champion. Sabu needs to be restrained and forced away from ringside as Paul brandishes the title belt.
When we come back from break, Joey recaps the events that led to this surprising title change. Cut to Paul E. Dangerously backstage, where we are informed that Sabu and Paul E. Dangerously are the greatest team in history and they are going to dominate. Tod Gordon joins in to let Paul know that a stipulation has been added to the match at November to Remember. It's Road Warrior Hawk teaming with Sabu against ECW TV champ Terry Funk and a mystery partner. Both Sabu's heavyweight championship and Funk's TV title will be on the line. Paul wants to know who Funk's partner is. Gordon is all too happy to show him with the contract in his hand, freaking Paul out. Before Gordon can reveal that partner to us, Paul attacks the camera guy and we get the "ECW - Please Stand By" graphic.
Match #2: The Bad Breed (Ian & Axl Rotten) vs. Chad Austin & Todd Shaw.
Austin and Ian Rotten to start. Lock up, Ian gets a side headlock. Austin shoves him off the ropes, Ian gets a shoulderblock. Ian off the ropes, up and over and a hiptoss from Austin. Dropkicks for both Rottens, and Austin comes off the middle turnbuckle with a bodypress for 2. Ian slugs away and tags in Axl. Axl hits a corner splash on Austin. Austin reverses a whip off the ropes, but Axl ducks the clothesline and hits a spin wheel kick. Nicely done by the big guy. Ian tagged back in and hits a back bodydrop off the ropes. Austin tags in Shaw, who is promptly double teamed and dumped to the floor. Ian hits a dropkick off the apron to the floor on Shaw. Back in, Axl gets 2 as he picks up Shaw. Ian in and hits a splash to the back, as he picks up Shaw at 2. Double underhook DDT and HOLY FUCK did he plant him. Ian slams Shaw, Axl hits an elbow off the middle rope. Now the Rottens hit a Rocket Launcher for the 1...2...3. **
WINNERS: The Bad Breed. It was a squash, but The Bad Breed showed some impressive offense here. That double underhook DDT was vicious looking. The Rottens looked pretty crisp here.
Joey promises to show us footage of a confrontation between Sherri Martel and Madusa at a convention. But first, Mr. Hughes cuts a promo, letting us know that he has arrived in ECW and at November to Remember, Johnny Gunn is going down. Yes, Mr. Hughes said "Johnny Gunn" and "going down" in the same sentence.
Joey is back to let us know that Kevin Sullivan and Tommy Cairo are scheduled for a Shoot Fight at November to Remember. Joey runs down the rules: 1. One fall to a positive finish. 2. NO pinfalls. 3. 10 count KO or submissiones rules. 4. No time limit. 5. Clenched fists are illegal. 6. Wrestler must break hold if opponent reaches ropes.
Now Joey brings us to the taped confrontation between Sherri and Madusa at a convention. Joey calls it "unladylike". Madusa wants to challenge Sherri to a match at November to Remember. Sherri calls her a blonde bimbo. Sherri goes on to say that Madusa couldn't handle the competition in the US so she went to Japan, where, all the women BLEEP the men. Sherri mentions Greg Valentine and says that she BLEEPED him and he wasn't so bad. Sherri accepts the challenge and DROPS THE MIC and walks away. Madusa grabs the mic and starts yelling about sexual credentials. "Kiss my BLEEP, Candy BLEEP". I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THESE WORDS ARE!
Joey is back in the Eagle's Nest with Jason and wants his opinion on what we just saw. Jason says that we can all agree that he is the sexiest man alive, and what do we think about his jacket.
The Post-Game Opinion: This show was probably abbreviated with edits, because it ran less than 30 minutes. The title change was the highlight of the show here, followed by some heavy pushing of the November to Remember card. The Madusa-Sherri confrontation was a trainwreck of epic BLEEPING proportions, as they both showed what class acts they were. Your homework assignment: work in "sexual credentials" in as many conversations as you can.
