Comments

  1. Well, I always get pissed when they remake great movies, so by my own logic I should be happy that they are remaking a shitty one.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Bad Influence vs the Young Bucks.

    Vs the Briscoes.

    Vs reDRagon.

Man I hope the sketchy reports on Bad Influence relocating are true

    ReplyDelete
  3. It's amazing how wwe has gotten me to care LESS about Batista in 6 months than I previously did

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'm more pumped up to watch 24 tonight than Raw. When did I time travel back to 2005?

    ReplyDelete
  5. So, with Batista apparently disappearing after Payback, does this mean he's going to lose the fall yet again, then get beaten to a pulp by HHH and Orton, thereby paving the way for a new member of Evolution?

If so, while I understand Sheamus would fit the role, I'd really like to see someone like Cody Rhodes or Big E in that spot.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Remakes definitely have their place. A ton of movies out there with a great premise but fuck it up someway or another. Stargate is a great example.

    ReplyDelete
  7. More likely scenario is they lose to Shield again, and quietly dissolve. Batista takes a break, Orton moves on to something else, HHH either feuds with Reigns or moves back in with Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  8. TJ: Here's the full card for this Saturday's ROH/NJPW card

ROH World Title Match: Adam Cole © vs. Jushin Liger
IWGP Heavyweight Title Match: AJ Styles © vs. Michael Elgin
ROH Tag Team Title Match: The Young Bucks © vs. reDRagon
IWGP Tag Team Title Match: Karl Anderson and Gallows © vs. The Briscoes
ROH TV Title Match: Jay Lethal © vs. KUSHIDA
    Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kevin Steen
    Kazuchida Okada vs. Cedric Alexander
    Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Michael Bennett
The Decade's BJ Whitmer and Roderick Strong vs. Gedo and Jado
Matt Taven, ACH and Tommaso Ciampa vs. The Forever Hooligans and Takaaki Watanabe

    ReplyDelete
  9. Remarkable really. Can you imagine the WWE being this way with The Rock?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I like this scenario but I don't see any huge development with evolution like this. It seemed to be a thrown together last minute angle to get them through 2 ppvs. They'll lose and Batista will quietly disappear for a few months and HHH will move back into his authority role

    ReplyDelete
  11. Evolution has been pure with HHH/Flair/Orton/Batista since late 2002-early 2003. Not once was there any other member, which makes it very exclusive (unlike the Horsemen and the NWO with approx. 58 members in each). I hope there are no new members.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It is remarkable. He main evented a mania and won the rumble and yet I care less about him now than I did when he returned.

Even tho hes contracted for 2 years, I'd actually be surprised if he returned to the wwe after his upcoming hiatus

    ReplyDelete
  13. I would like to see them put a young guy in the Orton "prodigy" role.

1 new member wouldn't be like adding Horace hogan, konnan, and Vincent to the nwo.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I just remember that Batista got injured in 2003, but they waited it out with HHH/Flair/Orton until he came back, then when Orton and Batista left the group, there was a perfect setup for Carlito and Masters to fill up the spots, but they didn't. So I always found that to be a cool touch, a very VIP type club.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That is a really strong card.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It's a REALLY strong card

    ReplyDelete
  17. Kazuchida Okada vs. Cedric Alexander is almost worth it by itself. I consider Alexander one of the best indy talents around today,

    ReplyDelete
  18. I can say that I believe them to be quite true......

    ReplyDelete
  19. Did you get the iPPV this weekend?

Meltzer put over the Steen/Cole and the junior tag three way as being the best matches on the card

    ReplyDelete
  20. I don't like the top two matches. Rather see Cole vs Okada or Cole vs Styles or Tanashi vs Cole.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Also, I would bet money the Briscoes win the IWGP tag titles.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Isn't there going to be a change of RoH PPVs? Like actual PPVs and not iPPVs

    ReplyDelete
  23. When was Mark Jindrak supposed to be in the group? Was it before they even thought of Batista or when he initially got hurt?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think Cole is a guy that will be in the WWE in two years.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Stargate's tv show was awesome.

    The original movie was awful

    ReplyDelete
  26. As much as I would like to see BI in the WWE, ROH is a much better fit.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I wouldn't call it awful. But a big budget version could be amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would.

Love SG-1 and Atlantis. Saw thrm first, then the movie. Didn't live up to the show.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wouldn't surprise me either. Unless they wanna make Evolution a long term thing again, it's going to be a "keep your money and enjoy time off" type of thing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I was in the audience at Ted reave

    ReplyDelete
  31. Does anyone know Okada and Tanahashi's contract status?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yeah, they had some photo shoots with him as a member right? That's another great example, Evolution = 4 members only, PERIOD!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Kurt Russell automatically makes the movie better than any of the shows.

    ReplyDelete
  34. And they're both a little old now. Especially Daniels.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sweet.

If if didn't have plans this Saturday, i would definitely get the iPPV.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Politics.

I would assume Okada, Tanahashi, Cole, and AJ Winning were non negotiable.

It limits the card ypu can make.

Steen vs Nakamura is a wild card

    ReplyDelete
  37. WWE would probably scoop up Daniels in a second if he wanted to be an agent or trainer.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wasn't Jindrak supposed to be the 4th instead of Batista? It was always gonna be just 4

    ReplyDelete
  39. Liger got a gods reception, and I agree with Meltzer. Steen and Cole brought the crowd to a fever pitch. And the Junior tag title match was the BEST kind of spotfest

    ReplyDelete
  40. It's sort of like the Sith. Always 4, never more, never less. (unless well, ugh, NEVERMIND!)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Starting June 22nd

    ReplyDelete
  42. I agree. I wouldn't even mind him wrestling now and then. His BI work was incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  43. As long as he ditches the bell bottoms. They look so stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You're the only person I've ever seen say that.

I think he's good. Still between 10 and 15 on the depth chart for me...

    ReplyDelete
  45. To be fair, they were only a stable for like a year and a half whereas the Horsemen were around for the better part of 10-12 years.

    ReplyDelete
  46. That is what I figured. Just hoped NJPW wouldn't be so uptight considering America isn't really a major market for them.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Here's the pic of Jindrak with Evolution

    http://www.pwmania.com/artman/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Mark-Jindrak-In-Evol.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  48. The only regular PPV on tap right now is Best in the World on June 22. If it's a success they'll do Final Battle as one which is their Mania level show at the end of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  49. There is even video of it on Triple H's DVD. One of the better what ifs in wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Tanahashi is currently suffering back problems so New Japan didn't want him in a top spot.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Based on the U stream advritising I the arena. They're trying to Change that

    ReplyDelete
  52. Almost positive Okada is in for the long haul, don't know about Tanahashi.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I wonder if...

    A) jindrak gets over
    B) if evolution as a group is a successful
    C) Wtf happens with Batista

    ReplyDelete
  54. What if someone tried to remake The Room?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Still going steady.

    ReplyDelete
  56. A. Not to the degree of Batista
    B. Yes
    C. Would depend entirely upon him. He probably still has a decent career but never gets launched like he did because of Evolution.

    ReplyDelete
  57. They are making a movie about The Room staring James Franco.

    ReplyDelete
  58. What I would do if I was NJPW, hire Jim Ross to do commentary for American audiences.

    ReplyDelete
  59. What do these guys make in relation to WWE guys?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Your_Favourite_LoserMay 12, 2014 at 10:09 AM

so after watching the last 2 weeks of total divas, i have to ask, who is more completely useless to the human race and would not be missed should she disappear forever, summer rae or cameron?

my lord, so many times when i watch that show, all i can think of about so many of them is 'these are not good people.' i know a lot of the situations are scripted (the camera just happened to be RIGHT THERE when summer kissed fandango, who seems pretty douchey in his own right), but the girls aren't actors; no way those personalities are a front

i have to lean towards camerson, simply b/c we've had to put up with her longer

tj/kidd is an asshole, too,and natty seems so naive (but well meaning)

    ReplyDelete
  61. A New Japan employee (translater I think?) Was expresing surprise there isn't already english comentary availible.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Its something that should have been done years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  63. That show is 110% scripted.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Thing is, I remember that around mid-2002, Batista helped Flair during a match with Kane, then Flair returned the favor... And Flair kept accompanying Batista to the ring from that point on. So Batista had a link to Evolution even 6 months before it started. So I'm guessing he was gonna be a member no matter what.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Your_Favourite_LoserMay 12, 2014 at 10:17 AM

yeah, they showed a preview for when aksana fake busted naomi's eye

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'll be watching Norm Macdonald over RAW... I think I'm in 1995.

    ReplyDelete
  67. They don't do any favors for making the characters likable.
I think they intended to make Natalya likable, but they've completely failed.

    ReplyDelete
  68. It wasn't 6 months prior, it was like a week prior.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Your_Favourite_LoserMay 12, 2014 at 10:24 AM

her assessment of her paintings was over the top. i didn't find them as atrocious as the bellas seemingly did, but she seemed clueless

and again, tj is just an asshole

    ReplyDelete
  70. Your_Favourite_LoserMay 12, 2014 at 10:27 AM

    batista's new film: douchebagger

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'll order it as long as it's not TNA pricing.
If they keep it $15-20, I'd be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  72. JR reacting to the Rainmaker would be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  73. NOOOOOO Dave's not going to take more time off to film a movie will they? How do they fill the roster hole we will leave?

    ReplyDelete
  74. 25 I think...maybe even 30

Still, half wwe's price is cool with me

    ReplyDelete
  75. Comparable, but still smaller, is my understanding.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Lol, why do you think that? I just find him stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  77. A kickboxer remake? Fuck I loved the original as a goofy early 90's action movie. Don't think I'd be interested in Batista remake though.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Your_Favourite_LoserMay 12, 2014 at 10:37 AM

last night's ep where he wouldn't help her at all with the carrying the painting and making fun of her

    ReplyDelete
  79. That would be crazy awesome. It's not like The bullet Club needs the titles. As a faction they now hold

    World Heveyweight.
    World Tag
    World Jr. Tag
    And ROH tag.

    That's a decorated stable

    ReplyDelete
  80. It's not like Gallows and Anderson need to be protected, and plus it is something major happening without something major happening if you catch my drift.

    ReplyDelete
  81. 20 dollars more than WWE's price.

    FTFY

    ReplyDelete
  82. Can Hollywood fuck off with remakes in general? That'd be nice.

    ReplyDelete
  83. DEAL WITH IT!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Stop with the fucking remakes already! Especially this one. Remake Kickboxer? You don't see people "remaking" the Mona Lisa! This is an outrage!

But seriously, there's zero chance this doesn't suck. They will get rid of all the intentional (and unintentional) comedy that made the first one awesome. They are going to sully the good name of Kurt Sloane, may he rest in peace.

    ReplyDelete
  85. If they don't remake the bar scene, in its entirety, someone needs fired. Also, I can't see anyone other than Dennis Chow playing Uncle Xian. It won't work.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Mike, check your post. You misspelled "classic cinematic achievement."

    ReplyDelete
  87. Batista was out for about 8 months with a torn muscle or something and I think that delayed the group's official formation.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Yeah I heard about that, based off of the book about the film. Should be fun.

    ReplyDelete
  89. They officially formed before Batista's injury.

    ReplyDelete
  90. By the way, I have to think that Tong Po is the one Asian Abeyance wouldn't fuck with. After all, he was "kicking one of these things, with his fucking legs (bam!) - and the plasta was falling don!"

    ReplyDelete
  91. JCVDs dance is an all time cinematic highlight for me

    ReplyDelete
  92. I can't like this enough. Hollywood is so bereft of ideas it is ridiculous. Superhero movies (which I tend to enjoy), remakes of superhero movies, remimagining of super hero origins, remakes of horror movies, remakes of action movies, umpteenth remakes of Godzilla, it's just frickin insane. Every single person who goes to see yet another Godzilla movie should flogged and beaten in the public square.

    ReplyDelete
  93. There have been a bunch of remakes that have been great. Hollywood just needs to pick what gets remade better.

    ReplyDelete
  94. "Xian! Why 'doze guys pissed at me?"

"I tell them you say they no good fighters. And that they mothers have sex with mules!"

And yes, that dance is a masterpiece of film.

    ReplyDelete
  95. It's only the 2nd Godzilla remake, and this one is actually good. Relax.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Unless I am missing your sarcasm, I don't think that was fake.

    ReplyDelete
  97. This new member of Evolution talk is becoming like War Games on here.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I'm down with Godzilla as long as it's good (has to be better than the Broderick version), but I've read that there's remakes of Fletch, Summer Vacation, Police Academy, Romancing the Stone, and Escape from New York planned. To name a few.

    ReplyDelete
  99. yep, it's just like the Hills was on MTV. Characters told how to act and then put into situations contrived by the writers. So yeah, they improv a few lines, but the characters and the situations are all scripted. Heck I would suggest episodes of Parks and Rec or Community, where they do a lot of improv work, are actually less scripted than Total Divas or a lot of other so-called reality shows. Reality TV has become an excuse for cheap programming. You pay the talent less and the dirty litte secret most don't know is that by terming it "reality" they don't have to use the union crews that other "scripted" shows do, so they both save money and continue to crush the American dream one industry at a time. It's a corporatist wet dream.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Those have been in the works for years, I doubt any of them gets made.

    ReplyDelete
  101. oooh only the 2nd remake. What was I thinking? Insert eyeroll

    ReplyDelete
  102. wouldn't surprise me. If they can remake Karate Kid, they can remake anything people remember fondly from the 70s and 80s

    ReplyDelete
  103. Let's hope not. I can't imagine what the remake of Escape from New York would be like.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Two whole Godzilla movies?!?!?! How will the medium recover!?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Escape was rumored back when 300 came out, with Butler playing Snake.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Outside of bigger special effects what is a Godzilla remake bringing to the table? Good god they made 20 of the damn things in the past. Granted many were low budget, but still. I just have lost my patience with the remake movement and with Hollywood's general inability to come up with something fresh and creative. I think seeing ads for Godzilla was just the final tipping point

    ReplyDelete
  107. Without the direct rub of HHH and Flair, Batista probably wouldn't be quite as successful. He'd still get a push because of his size, but without Evolution, I doubt he'd get as over as he did.

And without Batista in Evolution, we wouldn't get that great slow-burn story of Dave wanting HHH's belt, culminating in the classic 'thumbs down' Powerbomb through the table.

    ReplyDelete
  108. It's actually not even a remake, your bitching about a good movie being released next week just because you recognize the name.

    ReplyDelete
  109. No thanks. Next on the Carpenter remake list would be Prince of Darkness and Big Trouble in Little China. I don't want either remade, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. And, I wouldn't be surprised if they sucked.

    ReplyDelete
  110. That Karate Kid with Will Smith's son SUCKED!

    ReplyDelete
  111. no I'm bitching about the lack of creativity, of which that movie is emblematic. I bitched about the need to redo Spidey's origin less than 10 years latter. Or the need to redo Batman, although the 2nd set with christian Bale was pretty darned decent. I'm bitching about how every horror movie practically has been remade or is in the process of being remade. And how do you know it's even good? I don't know whether it's good or not but it looks to be what most movies have become, which is a CGI lovefest. Tons of big explosions and action scenes, minimal quality story or writing.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I'll probably still get it. I dont know much about either promotion but if the work rate is good, I'm down.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Kickboxer? meh. Now KICKPUNCHER, that'd get me interested.

    ReplyDelete
  114. and see my point is that I don't even care if they suck or not. The 2nd set of Batmans was quite good. But it frustrates me that people (including myself sometimes) flock to these movies, giving Hollywood a free pass to continue making more and eschewing any real creativity or quality work. Yeah, updated special effects are fun but I'd prefer some original work.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I agree with you on Spider-Man. I disagree with you on Batman, you absolutely had to redo that character. Horror remakes are so inconsequential, and some of them are good, that I know why bother caring about it. And I know it's good from all the reviews I've read.

"what most movies have become, which is a CGI lovefest. Tons of big explosions and action scenes,"

From what I understand, Godzilla is the exact opposite of this. You don't even see a full shot of Godzilla until the final fight at the end of the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  116. but there are two other "monsters" you do see plus, if the commercials are any indication, a shitload of buildings and cars and whatnot getting destroyed. And not seeing Godzilla until the final fight is the perfect way to lead into the inevitable sequel.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yeah you're right. They had just formed then he got hurt and was out for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Actually, without the Batman movies, you don't get The Prestige, Inception, or the upcoming Interstellar. So I don't know you're bitching.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I don't know how you managed to get through two episodes. I caught a few minutes of one a couple of weeks ago and just couldn't take it. It was when Naomi was making a music video and everything went wrong.

People I know that watch say Cameron is the worst. I wonder why the WWE won't push her as a heel on tv?!

    ReplyDelete
  120. I will say the nice thing about Batman is that it was very different than the earlier ones and said something different with the characters. I did like the 1st two Batman's with Keaton though. The new Spidey was ok, but I just kep saying to myself, "What about this movie said it had to be made?" Of course the answer is always money, but I like to be idealistic of visions of a little artistic integrity in there somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  121. never saw inception.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Wow, a sequel to a good movie. How awful!

    ReplyDelete
  123. I put in for tonight off a few weeks ago. I was planning to go to Raw but I just can't do it. I usually go even if I'm not into the product, but that was when Raw was 2 hours. I can't do 3 for a show I don't want to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  124. It's great, you should. But even if it wasn't, we're still getting original movies get made that never would otherwise without stuff like Batman.

    ReplyDelete
  125. The Immortal Hoke OganMay 12, 2014 at 11:33 AM

No JCVD movie warrants a remake

    ReplyDelete
  126. Kickboxer, Lionheart, and especially Bloodsport should never be remade. Ever!

    ReplyDelete
  127. I'm stoked for Jupiter Ascending simply because it's a summer movie that's AN ORIGINAL PROPERTY. I mean, I haven't been crazy about the Wachowskis, but I wish summers had more original stuff, and not just remakes, sequels, and spinoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  128. People actually think Batista is a draw?

    ReplyDelete
  129. What about Timecop, Universal Soldier and Street Fighter?

    ReplyDelete
  130. Those as well. But the abovementioned three are my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Your_Favourite_LoserMay 12, 2014 at 11:53 AM

she is REALLY bad. completely unlikeable. vapid, clueless, self-centered, immature... every stereotype you can think of a party girl applies to her

on last night's ep, she specifically was trying to get paparazzi to take pictures of her, and then wondered why no pictures showed up anywhere

    ReplyDelete
  132. Your_Favourite_LoserMay 12, 2014 at 11:55 AM

yeah, that was my point. obviously it's scripted, but not 110% like cult says. i don't trust that any of them can act like such believable horrible people without living the gimmick that is their real personality

    ReplyDelete
  133. Jef Vinson (Homewreckers Inc™)May 12, 2014 at 11:55 AM

remaking friday the 13th to have jason as the killer all along completely negates the entire friday the 13th universe

    ReplyDelete
  137. Also, what services are going to be offering it? I tried looking on the RoH website and didn't didn't anything.

    will's daughter

    ReplyDelete
  143. That just sounds terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  144. And also, IIRC, wasn't it a remake of Part 2?

just lookedit up and earlier this year it was confirmed she decided not to be in it, though will smith and jay z are still producing

    ReplyDelete
  147. Of course. Because black = orphan.

    ReplyDelete
  148. It isn't difficult to act like that. Every "reality" show is scripted.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I don't know if you mean that they are still going to make the movie, or they are going to have more kids.

    ReplyDelete
