Well, I always get pissed when they remake great movies, so by my own logic I should be happy that they are remaking a shitty one.
ReplyDeleteBad Influence vs the Young Bucks.
ReplyDeleteVs the Briscoes.
Vs reDRagon.
Man I hope the sketchy reports on Bad Influence relocating are true
It's amazing how wwe has gotten me to care LESS about Batista in 6 months than I previously did
ReplyDeleteI'm more pumped up to watch 24 tonight than Raw. When did I time travel back to 2005?
ReplyDeleteSo, with Batista apparently disappearing after Payback, does this mean he's going to lose the fall yet again, then get beaten to a pulp by HHH and Orton, thereby paving the way for a new member of Evolution?
ReplyDeleteIf so, while I understand Sheamus would fit the role, I'd really like to see someone like Cody Rhodes or Big E in that spot.
Remakes definitely have their place. A ton of movies out there with a great premise but fuck it up someway or another. Stargate is a great example.
ReplyDeleteMore likely scenario is they lose to Shield again, and quietly dissolve. Batista takes a break, Orton moves on to something else, HHH either feuds with Reigns or moves back in with Bryan.
ReplyDeleteTJ: Here's the full card for this Saturday's ROH/NJPW card
ReplyDeleteROH World Title Match: Adam Cole © vs. Jushin Liger
IWGP Heavyweight Title Match: AJ Styles © vs. Michael Elgin
ROH Tag Team Title Match: The Young Bucks © vs. reDRagon
IWGP Tag Team Title Match: Karl Anderson and Gallows © vs. The Briscoes
ROH TV Title Match: Jay Lethal © vs. KUSHIDA
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kevin Steen
Kazuchida Okada vs. Cedric Alexander
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Michael Bennett
The Decade's BJ Whitmer and Roderick Strong vs. Gedo and Jado
Matt Taven, ACH and Tommaso Ciampa vs. The Forever Hooligans and Takaaki Watanabe
Remarkable really. Can you imagine the WWE being this way with The Rock?
ReplyDeleteI like this scenario but I don't see any huge development with evolution like this. It seemed to be a thrown together last minute angle to get them through 2 ppvs. They'll lose and Batista will quietly disappear for a few months and HHH will move back into his authority role
ReplyDeleteEvolution has been pure with HHH/Flair/Orton/Batista since late 2002-early 2003. Not once was there any other member, which makes it very exclusive (unlike the Horsemen and the NWO with approx. 58 members in each). I hope there are no new members.
ReplyDeleteIt is remarkable. He main evented a mania and won the rumble and yet I care less about him now than I did when he returned.
ReplyDeleteEven tho hes contracted for 2 years, I'd actually be surprised if he returned to the wwe after his upcoming hiatus
I would like to see them put a young guy in the Orton "prodigy" role.
ReplyDelete1 new member wouldn't be like adding Horace hogan, konnan, and Vincent to the nwo.
I just remember that Batista got injured in 2003, but they waited it out with HHH/Flair/Orton until he came back, then when Orton and Batista left the group, there was a perfect setup for Carlito and Masters to fill up the spots, but they didn't. So I always found that to be a cool touch, a very VIP type club.
ReplyDeleteThat is a really strong card.
ReplyDeleteIt's a REALLY strong card
ReplyDeleteKazuchida Okada vs. Cedric Alexander is almost worth it by itself. I consider Alexander one of the best indy talents around today,
ReplyDeleteI can say that I believe them to be quite true......
ReplyDeleteDid you get the iPPV this weekend?
ReplyDeleteMeltzer put over the Steen/Cole and the junior tag three way as being the best matches on the card
I don't like the top two matches. Rather see Cole vs Okada or Cole vs Styles or Tanashi vs Cole.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would bet money the Briscoes win the IWGP tag titles.
ReplyDeleteIsn't there going to be a change of RoH PPVs? Like actual PPVs and not iPPVs
ReplyDeleteOh fuck yes
ReplyDeleteWhen was Mark Jindrak supposed to be in the group? Was it before they even thought of Batista or when he initially got hurt?
ReplyDeleteI think Cole is a guy that will be in the WWE in two years.
ReplyDeleteStargate's tv show was awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe original movie was awful
As much as I would like to see BI in the WWE, ROH is a much better fit.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call it awful. But a big budget version could be amazing.
ReplyDeleteI would.
ReplyDeleteLove SG-1 and Atlantis. Saw thrm first, then the movie. Didn't live up to the show.
Wouldn't surprise me either. Unless they wanna make Evolution a long term thing again, it's going to be a "keep your money and enjoy time off" type of thing.
ReplyDeleteI was in the audience at Ted reave
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know Okada and Tanahashi's contract status?
ReplyDeleteYeah, they had some photo shoots with him as a member right? That's another great example, Evolution = 4 members only, PERIOD!
ReplyDeleteKurt Russell automatically makes the movie better than any of the shows.
ReplyDeleteAnd they're both a little old now. Especially Daniels.
ReplyDeleteSweet.
ReplyDeleteIf if didn't have plans this Saturday, i would definitely get the iPPV.
Politics.
ReplyDeleteI would assume Okada, Tanahashi, Cole, and AJ Winning were non negotiable.
It limits the card ypu can make.
Steen vs Nakamura is a wild card
WWE would probably scoop up Daniels in a second if he wanted to be an agent or trainer.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Jindrak supposed to be the 4th instead of Batista? It was always gonna be just 4
ReplyDeleteLiger got a gods reception, and I agree with Meltzer. Steen and Cole brought the crowd to a fever pitch. And the Junior tag title match was the BEST kind of spotfest
ReplyDeleteIt's sort of like the Sith. Always 4, never more, never less. (unless well, ugh, NEVERMIND!)
ReplyDeleteStarting June 22nd
ReplyDeleteI agree. I wouldn't even mind him wrestling now and then. His BI work was incredible.
ReplyDeleteAs long as he ditches the bell bottoms. They look so stupid.
ReplyDeleteYou're the only person I've ever seen say that.
ReplyDeleteI think he's good. Still between 10 and 15 on the depth chart for me...
To be fair, they were only a stable for like a year and a half whereas the Horsemen were around for the better part of 10-12 years.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I figured. Just hoped NJPW wouldn't be so uptight considering America isn't really a major market for them.
ReplyDeleteHere's the pic of Jindrak with Evolution
ReplyDeletehttp://www.pwmania.com/artman/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Mark-Jindrak-In-Evol.jpg
The only regular PPV on tap right now is Best in the World on June 22. If it's a success they'll do Final Battle as one which is their Mania level show at the end of the year.
ReplyDeleteThere is even video of it on Triple H's DVD. One of the better what ifs in wrestling.
ReplyDeleteTanahashi is currently suffering back problems so New Japan didn't want him in a top spot.
ReplyDeleteBased on the U stream advritising I the arena. They're trying to Change that
ReplyDeleteAlmost positive Okada is in for the long haul, don't know about Tanahashi.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if...
ReplyDeleteA) jindrak gets over
B) if evolution as a group is a successful
C) Wtf happens with Batista
Thanks PTP.
ReplyDeleteWhat if someone tried to remake The Room?
ReplyDeleteStill going steady.
ReplyDeleteA. Not to the degree of Batista
ReplyDeleteB. Yes
C. Would depend entirely upon him. He probably still has a decent career but never gets launched like he did because of Evolution.
They are making a movie about The Room staring James Franco.
ReplyDeleteWhat I would do if I was NJPW, hire Jim Ross to do commentary for American audiences.
ReplyDeleteWhat do these guys make in relation to WWE guys?
ReplyDeleteso after watching the last 2 weeks of total divas, i have to ask, who is more completely useless to the human race and would not be missed should she disappear forever, summer rae or cameron?
ReplyDeletemy lord, so many times when i watch that show, all i can think of about so many of them is 'these are not good people.' i know a lot of the situations are scripted (the camera just happened to be RIGHT THERE when summer kissed fandango, who seems pretty douchey in his own right), but the girls aren't actors; no way those personalities are a front
i have to lean towards camerson, simply b/c we've had to put up with her longer
tj/kidd is an asshole, too,and natty seems so naive (but well meaning)
A New Japan employee (translater I think?) Was expresing surprise there isn't already english comentary availible.
ReplyDeleteIts something that should have been done years ago.
ReplyDeleteThat show is 110% scripted.
ReplyDeleteThing is, I remember that around mid-2002, Batista helped Flair during a match with Kane, then Flair returned the favor... And Flair kept accompanying Batista to the ring from that point on. So Batista had a link to Evolution even 6 months before it started. So I'm guessing he was gonna be a member no matter what.
ReplyDeleteyeah, they showed a preview for when aksana fake busted naomi's eye
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching Norm Macdonald over RAW... I think I'm in 1995.
ReplyDeleteThey don't do any favors for making the characters likable.
ReplyDeleteI think they intended to make Natalya likable, but they've completely failed.
It wasn't 6 months prior, it was like a week prior.
ReplyDeleteher assessment of her paintings was over the top. i didn't find them as atrocious as the bellas seemingly did, but she seemed clueless
ReplyDeleteand again, tj is just an asshole
batista's new film: douchebagger
ReplyDeleteI'll order it as long as it's not TNA pricing.
ReplyDeleteIf they keep it $15-20, I'd be happy.
JR reacting to the Rainmaker would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOO Dave's not going to take more time off to film a movie will they? How do they fill the roster hole we will leave?
ReplyDelete25 I think...maybe even 30
ReplyDeleteStill, half wwe's price is cool with me
Comparable, but still smaller, is my understanding.
ReplyDeleteLol, why do you think that? I just find him stupid.
ReplyDeleteA kickboxer remake? Fuck I loved the original as a goofy early 90's action movie. Don't think I'd be interested in Batista remake though.
ReplyDeletelast night's ep where he wouldn't help her at all with the carrying the painting and making fun of her
ReplyDeleteThat would be crazy awesome. It's not like The bullet Club needs the titles. As a faction they now hold
ReplyDeleteWorld Heveyweight.
World Tag
World Jr. Tag
And ROH tag.
That's a decorated stable
It's not like Gallows and Anderson need to be protected, and plus it is something major happening without something major happening if you catch my drift.
ReplyDelete20 dollars more than WWE's price.
ReplyDeleteFTFY
Can Hollywood fuck off with remakes in general? That'd be nice.
ReplyDeleteDEAL WITH IT!
ReplyDeleteStop with the fucking remakes already! Especially this one. Remake Kickboxer? You don't see people "remaking" the Mona Lisa! This is an outrage!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, there's zero chance this doesn't suck. They will get rid of all the intentional (and unintentional) comedy that made the first one awesome. They are going to sully the good name of Kurt Sloane, may he rest in peace.
If they don't remake the bar scene, in its entirety, someone needs fired. Also, I can't see anyone other than Dennis Chow playing Uncle Xian. It won't work.
ReplyDeleteMike, check your post. You misspelled "classic cinematic achievement."
ReplyDeleteNXT....NXT.....
ReplyDeleteBatista was out for about 8 months with a torn muscle or something and I think that delayed the group's official formation.
ReplyDeleteYeah I heard about that, based off of the book about the film. Should be fun.
ReplyDeleteThey officially formed before Batista's injury.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have to think that Tong Po is the one Asian Abeyance wouldn't fuck with. After all, he was "kicking one of these things, with his fucking legs (bam!) - and the plasta was falling don!"
ReplyDeleteJCVDs dance is an all time cinematic highlight for me
ReplyDeleteI can't like this enough. Hollywood is so bereft of ideas it is ridiculous. Superhero movies (which I tend to enjoy), remakes of superhero movies, remimagining of super hero origins, remakes of horror movies, remakes of action movies, umpteenth remakes of Godzilla, it's just frickin insane. Every single person who goes to see yet another Godzilla movie should flogged and beaten in the public square.
ReplyDeleteThere have been a bunch of remakes that have been great. Hollywood just needs to pick what gets remade better.
ReplyDelete"Xian! Why 'doze guys pissed at me?"
ReplyDelete"I tell them you say they no good fighters. And that they mothers have sex with mules!"
And yes, that dance is a masterpiece of film.
It's only the 2nd Godzilla remake, and this one is actually good. Relax.
ReplyDeleteUnless I am missing your sarcasm, I don't think that was fake.
ReplyDeleteThis new member of Evolution talk is becoming like War Games on here.
ReplyDeleteI'm down with Godzilla as long as it's good (has to be better than the Broderick version), but I've read that there's remakes of Fletch, Summer Vacation, Police Academy, Romancing the Stone, and Escape from New York planned. To name a few.
ReplyDeleteyep, it's just like the Hills was on MTV. Characters told how to act and then put into situations contrived by the writers. So yeah, they improv a few lines, but the characters and the situations are all scripted. Heck I would suggest episodes of Parks and Rec or Community, where they do a lot of improv work, are actually less scripted than Total Divas or a lot of other so-called reality shows. Reality TV has become an excuse for cheap programming. You pay the talent less and the dirty litte secret most don't know is that by terming it "reality" they don't have to use the union crews that other "scripted" shows do, so they both save money and continue to crush the American dream one industry at a time. It's a corporatist wet dream.
ReplyDeleteThose have been in the works for years, I doubt any of them gets made.
ReplyDeleteoooh only the 2nd remake. What was I thinking? Insert eyeroll
ReplyDeletewouldn't surprise me. If they can remake Karate Kid, they can remake anything people remember fondly from the 70s and 80s
ReplyDeleteLet's hope not. I can't imagine what the remake of Escape from New York would be like.
ReplyDeleteTwo whole Godzilla movies?!?!?! How will the medium recover!?!?!
ReplyDeleteEscape was rumored back when 300 came out, with Butler playing Snake.
ReplyDeleteOutside of bigger special effects what is a Godzilla remake bringing to the table? Good god they made 20 of the damn things in the past. Granted many were low budget, but still. I just have lost my patience with the remake movement and with Hollywood's general inability to come up with something fresh and creative. I think seeing ads for Godzilla was just the final tipping point
ReplyDeleteWithout the direct rub of HHH and Flair, Batista probably wouldn't be quite as successful. He'd still get a push because of his size, but without Evolution, I doubt he'd get as over as he did.
ReplyDeleteAnd without Batista in Evolution, we wouldn't get that great slow-burn story of Dave wanting HHH's belt, culminating in the classic 'thumbs down' Powerbomb through the table.
It's actually not even a remake, your bitching about a good movie being released next week just because you recognize the name.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks. Next on the Carpenter remake list would be Prince of Darkness and Big Trouble in Little China. I don't want either remade, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. And, I wouldn't be surprised if they sucked.
ReplyDeleteThat Karate Kid with Will Smith's son SUCKED!
ReplyDeleteno I'm bitching about the lack of creativity, of which that movie is emblematic. I bitched about the need to redo Spidey's origin less than 10 years latter. Or the need to redo Batman, although the 2nd set with christian Bale was pretty darned decent. I'm bitching about how every horror movie practically has been remade or is in the process of being remade. And how do you know it's even good? I don't know whether it's good or not but it looks to be what most movies have become, which is a CGI lovefest. Tons of big explosions and action scenes, minimal quality story or writing.
ReplyDeleteI'll probably still get it. I dont know much about either promotion but if the work rate is good, I'm down.
ReplyDeleteKickboxer? meh. Now KICKPUNCHER, that'd get me interested.
ReplyDeleteand see my point is that I don't even care if they suck or not. The 2nd set of Batmans was quite good. But it frustrates me that people (including myself sometimes) flock to these movies, giving Hollywood a free pass to continue making more and eschewing any real creativity or quality work. Yeah, updated special effects are fun but I'd prefer some original work.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on Spider-Man. I disagree with you on Batman, you absolutely had to redo that character. Horror remakes are so inconsequential, and some of them are good, that I know why bother caring about it. And I know it's good from all the reviews I've read.
ReplyDelete"what most movies have become, which is a CGI lovefest. Tons of big explosions and action scenes,"
From what I understand, Godzilla is the exact opposite of this. You don't even see a full shot of Godzilla until the final fight at the end of the movie.
but there are two other "monsters" you do see plus, if the commercials are any indication, a shitload of buildings and cars and whatnot getting destroyed. And not seeing Godzilla until the final fight is the perfect way to lead into the inevitable sequel.
ReplyDeleteYeah you're right. They had just formed then he got hurt and was out for a while.
ReplyDeleteActually, without the Batman movies, you don't get The Prestige, Inception, or the upcoming Interstellar. So I don't know you're bitching.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you managed to get through two episodes. I caught a few minutes of one a couple of weeks ago and just couldn't take it. It was when Naomi was making a music video and everything went wrong.
ReplyDeletePeople I know that watch say Cameron is the worst. I wonder why the WWE won't push her as a heel on tv?!
I will say the nice thing about Batman is that it was very different than the earlier ones and said something different with the characters. I did like the 1st two Batman's with Keaton though. The new Spidey was ok, but I just kep saying to myself, "What about this movie said it had to be made?" Of course the answer is always money, but I like to be idealistic of visions of a little artistic integrity in there somewhere.
ReplyDeletenever saw inception.
ReplyDeleteWow, a sequel to a good movie. How awful!
ReplyDeleteI put in for tonight off a few weeks ago. I was planning to go to Raw but I just can't do it. I usually go even if I'm not into the product, but that was when Raw was 2 hours. I can't do 3 for a show I don't want to watch.
ReplyDeleteIt's great, you should. But even if it wasn't, we're still getting original movies get made that never would otherwise without stuff like Batman.
ReplyDeleteNo JCVD movie warrants a remake
ReplyDeleteKickboxer, Lionheart, and especially Bloodsport should never be remade. Ever!
ReplyDeleteI'm stoked for Jupiter Ascending simply because it's a summer movie that's AN ORIGINAL PROPERTY. I mean, I haven't been crazy about the Wachowskis, but I wish summers had more original stuff, and not just remakes, sequels, and spinoffs.
ReplyDeletePeople actually think Batista is a draw?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Timecop, Universal Soldier and Street Fighter?
ReplyDeleteThose as well. But the abovementioned three are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteshe is REALLY bad. completely unlikeable. vapid, clueless, self-centered, immature... every stereotype you can think of a party girl applies to her
ReplyDeleteon last night's ep, she specifically was trying to get paparazzi to take pictures of her, and then wondered why no pictures showed up anywhere
yeah, that was my point. obviously it's scripted, but not 110% like cult says. i don't trust that any of them can act like such believable horrible people without living the gimmick that is their real personality
ReplyDeleteWe don't watch the show. We just joke around with each other. Wrestling is secondary
ReplyDeleteStreet Fighter should be forgotten.
ReplyDeletei heard they're remaking annie
ReplyDeletewith willow smith
you know, the character who's defined by being a ginger
"Horror remakes are so inconsequential"
ReplyDeleteremaking friday the 13th to have jason as the killer all along completely negates the entire friday the 13th universe
Also, what services are going to be offering it? I tried looking on the RoH website and didn't didn't anything.
ReplyDeleteHe could redo this though.:
ReplyDeletehttp://i.imgur.com/tHxwK.gif
this jcvd : wcw rvd
ReplyDeleteNo it doesn't. Those movies still exist, you can still watch them and pretend the remake doesn't exist.
ReplyDeleteWho the fuck is Willow Smith?
ReplyDeletewill's daughter
ReplyDeleteThat just sounds terrible.
ReplyDeleteAnd also, IIRC, wasn't it a remake of Part 2?
ReplyDeleteThe less you know, the better.
ReplyDeletejust lookedit up and earlier this year it was confirmed she decided not to be in it, though will smith and jay z are still producing
ReplyDeleteOf course. Because black = orphan.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't difficult to act like that. Every "reality" show is scripted.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you mean that they are still going to make the movie, or they are going to have more kids.
ReplyDeleteUse Miley Cyrus. The dance scenes alone would be worth it.
ReplyDelete:shakes head at Will:
ReplyDeletei love the arm shimmy at the end
ReplyDeletei also love the head shake at the start
hell, i love the whole thing
But Annie's suppose to be somewhere between 9-13, not 21.
ReplyDeletebut miley ACTS like she's about 12 or 13
ReplyDeleteYou should totally dress and dance like that on your date with jessybabe.
ReplyDeleteStop acting like she doesn't have the body of a 9 - 13 year old.
ReplyDelete:nods head in agreement while laughing:
ReplyDeletei was thinking it would be better not to act like i do everyday...
ReplyDelete*thinking about it*
ReplyDeleteNah, don't act like you. Not unless you show some self esteem.
What 12 year old do you know that wears thongs and humps a giant penis that is not dating Jerry Lawler?
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteWhat pisses me off is that there is like a combined 140 years worth of Superman and Batman material and they tend to choose the worst storylines.
ReplyDeleteNo, he just good at standing in the background looking cool with his shades on.
ReplyDeleteIt's the only thing he can do without blowing up.
ReplyDeleteThat movie was hot garbage.
ReplyDeleteYeah but in the best way.
ReplyDeleteThe PPVs go really fast. I went to Rumble and Mania and had a blast.
ReplyDeleteI went to a Raw in September and was about to pass out by the middle of the third hour. They just Draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag.
I'm going to Raw again in June just because I'm stupid and don't learn from my mistakes.
It was a movie that should have been on MST3K.
ReplyDeleteI want to go to Raw in June, but can because I'll be out of town.
ReplyDeleteI had the opportunity to go but I keep passing on it because I have to teach at night.
ReplyDeleteI did a complete 360 on Will Smith solely because of the careers of his children.
ReplyDeletethat's what i'm saying... if i acted like me, i'd be hippity hoppitying gettin' down and dressin' like jcvd above
ReplyDelete"But seriously, there's zero chance this doesn't suck."
ReplyDeleteThey could act it out with Muppets.
Please tape this event....for posterity's sake.
ReplyDeleteyeah, talk about flushing good will (no pun intended) down the drain
ReplyDeleteThe WWE forgot he wasn't The Rock in January.
ReplyDeleteCool on Fresh Prince, well rounded actor, but now dislike him a bit because he keeps shoving his kids down our throats.
ReplyDelete"Can't go to Raw... I.. HAVE A CLASS, TO TEACH!!!"
ReplyDeleteI didn't mind the Karate kid movie. The other movie I saw? Not so much.
ReplyDeleteMoney > wrestling.
ReplyDeleteI never want to see After Earth, looks like one big ego trip.
ReplyDeleteWas an obscure Homer Simpson reference, but yes, I agree with that statement. Unless it involves AJ or Lana.
ReplyDelete..or Layla.
ReplyDeleteHow about KICK WHAM STUNNER!
ReplyDeleteIt was OK. I tried to distance it from the original series as much as possible and give it a fair shot.
ReplyDeleteThat's the one I'll be going to. I'm gonna wait to buy until StubHub gets the floor seats under $200.
ReplyDeleteFloor Seats for $400 = NO BUYS
You're a Teacher?
ReplyDeleteBatista is just angling to get the lead role in The Marine 5
ReplyDeletevictim of friendly fire
ReplyDelete...or TAMINA!
ReplyDeleteThe only people that show has really helped are the Usos. Both dudes are cool as a fan and WWE should stop the island savage stuff and just let them be themselves.
ReplyDeletewow, $400 for a Raw? I heard of that for PPVs URRR Specials, but I've already gotten floor seats for a Raw for $60. Depends on the location I guess.
ReplyDeleteSee: My view on Star Trek.
ReplyDeleteAnyone's reply button gone?
ReplyDeleteStar Trek 09 is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYeah my reply button's gone
ReplyDeleteI honestly could not care less. Let them keep milking the name and legacy for all it's worth.
ReplyDelete
