Batista Update
Sources close to Batista are saying that the reason he wanted to leave early was due to the string of broken promises since he arrived, not because he was booked to lose to Bryan. One source told Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net that the WWE wants the story of him refusing to lose to Bryan because he is small to be circulating then said it was bullshit as Batista would do "five jobs for Bryan." The source said that the WWE has screwed over Batista with money, booking, schedulng, and with promoting his outside projects.

There are also plans to film another season of "Legends House" as the company is very happy with the streaming numbers for the series.

Batista is kind of justified in being upset, but I'm glad he was a pro and went along with the changes. I seriously doubt that WCW Hogan would have budged, for example.

And I also remember in 2010, when Batista was still a tippy top guy, and he had a "beat the clock" match on RAW against Daniel Bryan, who was 0-9 in NXT... and he gave Bryan a TON of offense, even teased tapping out. So it's clear Batista likes Daniel, and I indeed thought the "doesn't wanna job to him again" was BS.

ReplyDeleteMinor, yes. But it still would have been there. People had their hearts set on Bryan winning the Rumble. I think the deflation would have set in no matter what.
ReplyDeleteDespite the constant promises that Bryan wouldn't be in the Rumble, long-time viewers have become accustomed that when those promises are made, they are usually broken. Batista just came back at a bad time.
Far less, at any rate. Fans still would have caught onto his shitty cardio and uninspired (until he turned) promos, but yes, had it been a true surprise, they wouldn't have spent weeks telling you Batista is winning the Rumble and there wouldn't have been as much ire directed at him specifically.

Vince fucking went over and above for punk during his last contract...private travel/bang bus, huge money feuds with Rock and Taker, 400+ day title reign, etc. Vince made punk rich beyond his wildest dreams. Punk owed him the CHACE to fix whatever gripes he had.
If wwe really is fucking with Batista less than 4 months into his return, he should walk. That being said, he's won the rumble and main evented WM...how many promises could Vince really have broken?
