Not sure where or when this is from (I presume a Super Juniors tournament in 93ish) or why it's got a German commentator who sounds like a 14 year old boy, but it's a pretty swank match. Eddie is a huge dick and Kid decides saving his body for later in life is a waste of time.

Ha, I love Eurosport, you'll always find gems like this.
ReplyDeleteThis is a terrible match. It does not even involve a forklift!
ReplyDeleteWhy is Eddie wearing Bret Hart's tights?
ReplyDeleteEddie had a pretty mean sharpshooter.
ReplyDeleteHe's a student of the game [/JR]
ReplyDeleteShit, ive never seen or heard of this. Thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteIt IS Bret Hart! He's just wearing a mustache.
ReplyDeleteWoah!
ReplyDeleteAh Eurosport..the channel which promoted WWF wrestling on it's programming, but showed NJPW instead with the shittiest (Dutch) commentator ever. Sir Oliver Humperdink on English commentary wasn't much better.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been around 1992/1993. I remember seeing Bam Bam Bigelow and Vader.
It's been over 20 years but I still want to strangle that guy.
it's actually a female commentator who also did wwf in the early stages.
ReplyDeleteThe commentator is a woman - Uli Fesseler. She did WWF commentary in the early years in Germany (I think they started broadcasting around here in 1988 or 1989). Here's a video of one of the early shows. May be interesting for you to see because they used to put together random matches back then. German commentary must be horrible for North American ears, I fear. Actually, most fans over here mostly choose to watch in English. Link: http://y2u.be/TRrOXkVqerY
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice surprise, as I had no idea this match existed. I remember the Lightning Kid from before his WWF days in Global. I was really into the promotion for a while in the early-90's.
ReplyDelete"[...] most fans over here mostly choose to watch in English."
ReplyDeletethat's only true if you don't consider "casuals" to be "fans" though.
btw: has there ever been a female commentator in US wrestling? (I really can't recall any, but maybe I am forgetting someone?)
ReplyDeleteMike McGuirk in the WWF.
