In action tonight are the Dream Team, Don Muraco, and a midget match.


Barry O. & Johnny K-9 vs. ""Golden Boy" Danny Spivey & Corporal Kirchner

Kirchner overpowers Barry until he gets caught in a powerslam. Barry missed an elbow drop then Kirchner monkey-flipped him out of the corner. K-9 tags and the faces take turns going to work on his arm. Spivey then rips off Hogan by using the big boot, slam, and a leg drop on K-9. The crowd did not react at all during that sequence. Kirchner tags and dominates K-9 until Barry attacks him from behind. Kirchner quickly fights back though then tags Spivey, who hits one of the worst dropkicks I have ever seen before tagging Kirchner, who gets the win with a Samoan drop (4:07)

Thoughts: Spivey was not ready to be in a major promotion. His in-ring work was terrible at this point. Kirchner was nothing more than a cheap Sgt. Slaughter replacement that the crowd never got behind.


WWF Update with Lord Alfred Hayes. This week, they show us clips of the winners from the "Slammy Awards."


Les Thornton vs. "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff

Thornton goes on offense for a bit to start, throwing a lot of European uppercuts. Orndorff then wins a slugfest and knocks down Thornton. Orndorff hangs onto the arm of Thornton, who took him down with a snapmare. After missing a charge, Thornton gets dropkicked to the floor. Orndorff brings him back in with a back suplex then hits a chop from the top rope, setting up for the piledriver and the win (3:12).

Thoughts: Not a bad match and they even gave Thornton quite a bit of offense. They played up Orndorff's athletic background on commentary. Since his feud with Piper ended, Orndorff had nothing going on at this point.


Gene Okerlund introduces us to a pre-recorded interview from Hogan, who talks about his match with JYD against the Funk Brothers.


S.D Jones & Andre Malo vs. Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart

S.D. cant knock over Neidhart but ends up outsmarting him during a criss-cross sequence and takes him down with an arm drag. Malo tags but Neidhart overpowers him then tags Brett, who beats on Malo against the ropes as the crowd chants for S.D. Brett hits a backbreaker then S.D. comes in for some reason and as the ref orders him back, the Hart Foundation destroy Malo and eventually put him away with the Hart Attack (2:54).

Thoughts: The Hart Foundation were becoming more impressive by the week and as a result, started to get more of a push. They werent at their peak yet, as they had not built up their personalities, but were trending upwards.


Gene Okerlund breaks the news that WrestleMania 2 will be divided up between three cities. In Los Angeles, Hulk Hogan will defend his World Heavyweight title against King Kong Bundy in a steel cage. In the Nassau Coliseum, Roddy Piper will face Mr. T in a boxing match. And in the Richfeld Coliseum, the first annual open invitational battle royal will take place, including Andre the Giant and from the Chicago Bears, William "Refridgerator" Perry. A list of locations to watch via closed circuit are then shown on screen.


Butch Cassidy vs. Haiti Kid

Butch knocks down Haiti to start. Haiti then hits a backdrop and a dropkick before using a side headlock. Crossbody gets two. Butch rakes the eyes and tries a turnbuckle smash, which had no effect. Haiti lays in with some chops but Butch rakes the eyes again and takes control. Haiti misses a charge in the corner then Butch hits a suplex, as Vince compares Cassidy to Jimmy Hart in terms of size. Butch missed a top rope leg drop then Haiti immediately gets up and bites him in the ass. Haiti bit the ref after he intervened then during a criss-cross spot, Haiti rolled up Cassidy for the win (3:02).

Thoughts: This was fine for what it was. Vince was cacking like a moron throughout the match, which was actually funny for some reason. Haiti was terrible in the ring but Butch actually had some decent ability and looked good.


Immediately after the last match, Roddy Piper and Bob Orton drag the Haiti Kid away and bring him to the "Piper's Pit" set. Piper grabs some tape and says accuses Haiti Kid of saying that he hoped Mr. T beat him up and he confirms. Piper then grills Haiti Kid about liking Mr. T as Orton holds him by the hair on a seat. He then lifts him up as Piper cuts the Haiti's Kid hair so he can look just like Mr. T. Piper then covers his mouth with tape because he was talking too much then goes back to work on the hair. He then tapes Haiti Kid's hands together and slaps him around a bit. Wow, the crowd did not make much noise and it seemed like it was the "stunned silence" type. A memorable segment that made you want to see Mr. T destroy Piper in their boxing match at WrestleMania.


Okerlund hypes up WrestleMania 2 by showing clips from this past "Saturday Night's Main Event." I'll say it again, that show did a hell of a job promoting the main events of the card. Mr. T, sporting a "Hulkamania" shirt cuts a promo on Piper, stating he did not have enough training against Orton due to the filming the "A-Team" but promises that he will have plenty of time to prepare for Piper. Hogan comes out, with his ribs taped up, and tells us that Mr. T dedicates his life to the "special children" and that they will not let the kids down at WrestleMania.


Nelson Veilleux & "Leaping" Lanny Poffo vs. The Dream Team w/ Johnny Valiant

Before the match, Poffo reads a poem about the British Bulldogs being the future Tag Team Champions. The Dream Team take turns beating on Poffo to start. Poffo fights off both guys then tags Veilleux, who gets hit by a flying knee from Brutus. Valentine tags and drops a few elbows as a "fruitcake" chant breaks out. Valentine hits a shoulderbreaker then Beefcake attacks Veilleux from the apron. The Dream Team takes turns tossing around Veilleux until Valentine makes him submit to the figure four (2:58).

Thoughts: A showcase for the Dream Team to make them look strong, due to the British Bulldogs having their number lately.


Oklerund is with Jimmy Hart and the Funk Brothers. Terry said that JYD & Hogan asked for this match and tells us the story of his brother killing the dog who bit him as a kid, even referring to him as "Hoss," then says that after they send Hogan to the hospital, they will hog tie JYD. Hoss speaks and says they will have a "ropin' and a tyin' " at the Boston Garden Tonight. I havent seen a whole lot of Dory Funk but here, he seemed to be awful at promos. I have no idea if he just struggled with the corny lines he had to work with or not.


Next week, Uncle Elmer will team up with George "The Animal" Steele. Also, Adrian Adonis, the Killer Bees, and "Macho Man" Randy Savage will be in action. Plus, more updates about WrestleMania.


Final Thoughts: This was a pretty good show. They broke the news that WrestleMania 2 will take place at three different locations and announced the main events for each building. I also found it weird that it took place on a Monday night. The key feuds going into the show have been built fantastically too. There were some throw away matches but overall, a fun hour of wrestling
