Wow, terrible timing. I really saw Barrett taking the briefcase but now Rollins is basically a lock. I like Rollins but the briefcase would've been perfect on Barrett.
There are lots of degrees of severity with separated shoulders, so this isn't necessarily the end of Barrett. Some minor separations can be proverbially popped back in...it hurts like a bitch for five seconds but then you're basically fine. If it isn't a back separation, Barrett could certainly still wrestle on Sunday, especially since you can hide a guy pretty well in the MITB environment.
Announce that he's not able to compete, start the match with just six guys and when it looks like all six are down for the count, "I'M AFRAID I'VE GOT SOME BAD NEWS...I'M STILL IN THE MATCH!" Then Barrett can ride down to the ring on his podium and simply reach up for the briefcase without climbing the ladder at all.
At tonight's Smackdown taping, Bad News Barrett suffered a shoulder injury during a match with Jack Swagger according to WWE.com. It happened when Barrett was thrown into the ringside barricade. The site quoted their company Dr. Chris Amann as saying Barrett had a separated shoulder and that more tests would be done.
His status for the Money In The Bank briefcase match has not been determined yet.
Good thing it's "just" a separation, at least. He shouldn't be out long, and perhaps he could still do limited things in the MITB match. And hey, with his gimmick he can still stay over on TV.
This really sucks, because you know someone back there is just waiting to slap the "injury prone" tag on Barrett and pull the plug on any push he was in line for.
I don't think Barrett had a chance of winning while he's still got another belt... hasn't made a difference to the outcome of the match but still sucks big time
I wish they still openly jobbed out their secondary champions so I could make a joke about Barrett coming out mid match and hanging the IC title above the ring in an effort to forfeit the title.
Is it me or does anyone else think they are going to go back to two titles in the championship ladder match. Someone grabs the world title on ly and falls and leaves with it, Cena grabs the wwe title. IDK why havent they gone to just one belt yet?
It's not just you, it's been theorized about 5700 times online everywhere...I just don't see it happening. It's too much of a regression from what they've done to unify them the last 7 months.
RVD won the IC belt at Backlash from Shelton Benjamin whilst he held the briefcase. Different kettle of ballgames to what you two were speaking about, I know, but vaguely related.
I always wondered why they never did that finish in a tag team ladder match. Like all of a sudden Jeff Hardy and Bubba Ray Dudley are the tag team champs. Hey TNA could still do that!
Agreed. I've been kvetching forever that Swagger is the most useless sack of crap on the roster. I still can't believe he didn't get canned after getting busted with pot.
Good call picking Mr. Fuji over Jim Cornette - the man they brought in so Yokozuna had an actual mouthpiece for his title run since Fuji couldn't you know...CUT A PROMO.

ReplyDeleteHe should pop it in, lethal weapon style.

You mean it wasn't cemented before?
ReplyDeleteThat would be a brilliant way to book it.
ReplyDeleteI thought Rollins was the guy as well.
ReplyDeleteI thought we all agreed that Dolph Ziggler was taking it?
ReplyDeleteThey're trying to shut the Bad News Bearett down?
ReplyDeleteLET HIM FIGHT!
LET HIM FIGHT!
LET HIM FIGHT!
"The good news is, it's not chlamydia."
ReplyDeleteDid Scherer break this news?
ReplyDeleteHow would anybody know? I don't think you're actually allowed to read his "news".
ReplyDeleteWell, I dont own two houses, so I must be doing something wrong...
ReplyDeleteTake that cape off more carefully next time, Wade.
ReplyDeleteTJ - First Lee Marshall, Now Larry Nelson?! Killer Ken Resnick better watch out for any pianos falling out of windows...
ReplyDeleteBAD NEWS INJURY AT SMACKDOWN
ReplyDeleteBy Dave Scherer on 2014-06-24 22:55:07

ReplyDeleteIf he keeps getting arm and shoulder injuries, Christian's gonna sue him for gimmick infringement.
ReplyDeleteLarry Nelson died? Aww man.. I really liked him in the good old days.
ReplyDeleteFucking useless ass Jack Swagger... How many times is he going to injure someone before he gets "future endeavored"?
ReplyDeleteDave Scherer owns 2 good shoulders.
ReplyDeleteDivulging that information may have violated his Terms of Service, however.
ReplyDeleteI'll give this a post so it doesn't feel lonely.
ReplyDeleteI got it straight from his dog. His Terms of Service was violated years ago.
ReplyDeleteIf this is anything like the last time he hurt someone legit, expect Jack Swagger to get pushed again.
ReplyDeleteThis really sucks, because you know someone back there is just waiting to slap the "injury prone" tag on Barrett and pull the plug on any push he was in line for.
ReplyDeleteThis.
ReplyDeleteIf they wanted Wade with the briefcase (and they should) there's no reason why he can't still win & sit on the sidelines with it a few months.
Unless they planned to have him cash in soon it needn't alter booking plans.
But Christ, Barret just has no luck with the timing of his injuries
I'm a slum landlord and I'm proud to read Dave Scherer.
ReplyDeleteThe dog's?
ReplyDeleteYeah cause if I'm gonna buy a pair of new Nike shoes, it's gonna be from a spambot on a wrestling forum.
ReplyDeleteI actually do all of my shopping through forum spambots, it's a real time saver for the poster-on-the-go.
ReplyDeleteWasn't he a bare-knuckle boxer? This is probably a paper cut compared to the other injuries he's suffered.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting, but wouldn't the platform have to get into the center of the ring?
ReplyDeleteI read yesterday that it was something that Swagger did.
ReplyDeleteAmong other appendages.
ReplyDeleteI don't buy it that Rollins is taking it.
ReplyDeleteRollins was always winning it. Dude is getting the mega push as the hottest new heel on the roster.
ReplyDeleteDo you hear the way Triple H co-opts his signature phrase? There's no way that the COO doesn't love that dude. He'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteAmbrose and Rollins cancel each other out, allowing Barrett the chance to get the briefcase, was my interpretation. Rollins was my second choice.
ReplyDeleteThat really sucks. Whenever these dudes finally get over they get hurt!
ReplyDeleteI don't think Barrett had a chance of winning while he's still got another belt... hasn't made a difference to the outcome of the match but still sucks big time
ReplyDeleteHopefully they don't just write him off of TV. Get him fixed up, and fire up that scissor lift and have him cut promos.
ReplyDeleteI wish they still openly jobbed out their secondary champions so I could make a joke about Barrett coming out mid match and hanging the IC title above the ring in an effort to forfeit the title.
ReplyDeleteI think Miz was US champ when he won it, right? And possibly tag champs with Big Show also, he had a busy year.
ReplyDeleteDon't let stupid things like logic get in the way of the most AWESOME IDEA EVER.
ReplyDeleteWe're trying not to say it too much. Just in case WWE is listening and decide to pull the plug to surprise the smarks.
ReplyDeleteI wanted him to win it just for his promo while he's cashing in. Would have been perfect.
ReplyDeleteIs it me or does anyone else think they are going to go back to two titles in the championship ladder match. Someone grabs the world title on ly and falls and leaves with it, Cena grabs the wwe title. IDK why havent they gone to just one belt yet?
ReplyDeleteIt's not just you, it's been theorized about 5700 times online everywhere...I just don't see it happening. It's too much of a regression from what they've done to unify them the last 7 months.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I hope it's not his gavel shoulder....
ReplyDeleteWasn't there going to be an Ambrose vs Rollins singles match? Did they cancel that?
ReplyDeleteRVD won the IC belt at Backlash from Shelton Benjamin whilst he held the briefcase. Different kettle of ballgames to what you two were speaking about, I know, but vaguely related.
ReplyDeleteYes, Miz was US champ when he won the briefcase.
ReplyDeleteI didn't either, but with Barrett out he might be the guy.
ReplyDeleteWe need to get this guy to write regularly for the Blog.
ReplyDeleteThat arm was 2 days from retirement.
ReplyDeleteIts ok he can just use a long extendable hook
ReplyDeleteKayfabe wise, Axel hurts him a bunch
ReplyDeleteThey're not going back to two titles in the match. The belts are hung so that you can only grab both.
ReplyDeleteDUDE!! SHHHHHHHH!! You're treading on deadly ground.
ReplyDeleteReally who can beat those wonderful deals
ReplyDeleteNew QotD guy eventually?
ReplyDeleteAre they turning Bo Dallas face? I don't approve of this.
ReplyDeleteOr he can use a super magnet to draw the belts. YEAH, BITCH!! MAGNETS!!!
ReplyDeleteHe's kinda getting over though. He's shtick is halfway decent which is more than I ever expected out of him.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered why they never did that finish in a tag team ladder match. Like all of a sudden Jeff Hardy and Bubba Ray Dudley are the tag team champs. Hey TNA could still do that!
ReplyDeleteQotD: "We’re still waiting on the decisions of Nike Air Max 1" How do you feel about the decision of Nike Air Max 1?
ReplyDeleteHe'll be whatever the fans want him to be. As long as he keeps the awesome character, I really don't care either way.
ReplyDeletePut the IC title on Reigns and let him squash midcarders in title matches for the next 6 - 8 months over it.
ReplyDelete..and a traumatized dog. We'll see a remake of this story on Law and Order SVU.
ReplyDeleteDo a spot with Ziggler and Kofi that causes the belts to swing back and forth. Barrett catches the belt as it swings back to him.
ReplyDeleteHow in the hell can you have a discussion of the top managers of all time without mentioning your friend and mine, Mr. James E. Cornette?
ReplyDeleteBut if he sits on the sidelines they can't job him out like MitB winners of the past.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I've been kvetching forever that Swagger is the most useless sack of crap on the roster. I still can't believe he didn't get canned after getting busted with pot.
ReplyDeleteWait...what???
ReplyDeleteGood call picking Mr. Fuji over Jim Cornette - the man they brought in so Yokozuna had an actual mouthpiece for his title run since Fuji couldn't you know...CUT A PROMO.
ReplyDeleteTheir new music is bad. Is it also not very good.
