Bully in Charge?

Scott,

http://www.wrestlezone.com/editorials/485797-the-ballad-of-bully-ray-2

Not sure if you saw this article but this is very interesting. I know you're not the biggest Mark Madden fan in the world, but he brings up some valid points about the direction of the promotion.

Also, if it's true about Velvet, that sucks for Sabin.

Jesus, two posts about TNA in the same DAY?  This is like their MITB 11 in terms of blowing up the blog.  If they really do switch back to the six-sided ring they might crash Blogger.

As for Bully, he clearly learned from the best.

apparently he also directed some porn

    ReplyDelete
  2. This is a very interesting take. Who knows how much of it is true or how much of it is speculation, but I hadn't thought of it this way. Makes some sense.

  3. Uncrusimatic_Buck_NastyJune 22, 2014 at 12:06 PM

not sure if they were in character or not, but both aries (a face) and ec3 (a heel) made twitter posts saying that the fans had no business deciding what ring should be used since they're not the ones who have to work in it

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think that's totally disingenuous of both of them. TNA built itself on the sixth sided ring and it was taken from the fans to appease Hogan and Bischoff.

    ReplyDelete
  5. What kind?
    ~S. Rollins

    ReplyDelete
  6. They should both vote for what they want then. They'd win the vote.

    ReplyDelete
  7. "Jeff Hardy, perhaps TNA’s only legit star, wears a costume that conceals his identity."

This has zero to do with Bully Ray. Madden is troll.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Uncrusimatic_Buck_NastyJune 22, 2014 at 12:34 PM

he's probably trying to imply that bully has hardy under the mask in order to stave off popularity for jeff hardy outright

    ReplyDelete
  9. If that was the case, then Tenay and Tazz should have been fired for calling him Hardy many times over the last few weeks...

    ReplyDelete
  10. Whether or not you agree with Hogan and Bischoff's decision, I don't think they made it for their own reasons as much as they thought it was holding the company back from growing.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I know what he is implying but anyone who thinks Willow isn't 100% Jeff Hardy is an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Bully's giving Velvet the wood!

    ReplyDelete
  13. The Ghost Of Meekin's MoobsJune 22, 2014 at 12:47 PM

Why doesn't Madden write an article about how his buddies Hall & Nash were in charge of WCW?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I love his trolling. I always forward his tweets to my dude in PGH because of how much he hates him.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Breaking news: Magnus is in charge of TNA! Here's the evidence:
-Magnus not wanting to be considered TNA's worst world champion, dropped the belt to the newest worst world champion ever, EY
-Magnus got his friend Bram a job
-Magnus defeated TNA's biggest stars in Sting and Hardy
-Magus is nowhere near the main event scene because he doesn't want to be responsible for TNA's lowest ever ratings

    ReplyDelete
  16. He is a joke here in Pittsburgh.

    ReplyDelete
  17. A snatch full of splinters is not a pleasant thought

    ReplyDelete
  18. No Jim Neidhart is not in charge.

    ReplyDelete
  19. There could be something to it. But if Bully has some pull it didn't just start now, because Team 3D was shoved down my throat for years to. It's probably similar to JBL's singles push - half of a washed up and stale tag team doesn't all of a sudden get a serious singles push unless someone high up likes him.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Mark Madden's still alive??? Holy cow, I thought he fell into a vortex after the death of WCW (which he helped kill, btw, with his atrocious color work that made 2014 Jerry Lawler look like Bobby Heenan in his prime).

    ReplyDelete
  21. This will never get old.

    ReplyDelete
  22. For a guy who was supposed to be TNA's future for years to come, his stock plummeted faster than WWE's after the Network subscription numbers came in.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That's his move, Tony!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Aries doesn't do kayfabe tweets. Face or heel, he'll still come off like an abrasive jerk on Twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm watching the RoH preshow. This brunette hosting the preshow is smoking.

    ReplyDelete
  26. To be fair, if we're listing what killed WCW, Mark Madden is way, way, WAY down the list. I actually remember him being kind of funny in spots; there's a match on one of the Best of Nitro sets where he goes off on the Jung Dragons for interrupting 3 Count's song.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, not great or anything, but I thought Madden was okay as a commentator too. I think the biggest cancer on the announcing team was Schiavone.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, I remember hearing Bully was a member of creative (along with 20 other people) and Bully probably has creative control over his own character, but don't think he has that much power when it comes to the overall product.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Mister_E_LogdriverJune 22, 2014 at 2:10 PM

Jeff Hardy being a gigantic loser predates Bully Ray by quite a bit. Otherwise, whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  30. They put two guys in charge of growth who hadn't done anything but shrink a promotion in 12 years. Just such a bad call.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Porn Peddlin' Jef VinsonJune 22, 2014 at 2:33 PM

    That's from birth.

    ReplyDelete
  32. She was working the merch table at the last NYC ROH show and was very nice to everyone. She's trying to sell merch, so take it with a grain of sand, but she was nicer than most wrestlers when they help out.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't care if Madden was the worst announcer ever (which he wasn't obviously), he's pretty much the last thing that killed WCW.

    ReplyDelete
  34. World Cup TJ: anyone of you Americans here watching the game in an hour?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Prolly not cause 4 is when my roomie returns and he'll troll me knowing a big game is on.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Then they have no business telling the fans to watch their product, since its the fans time and money.

    ReplyDelete
  37. CruelConnectionNumber2June 22, 2014 at 3:32 PM

WCW was dead and unsaveable before he sat at the commentary table

    ReplyDelete
  38. CruelConnectionNumber2June 22, 2014 at 3:33 PM

Sabin was TNA's worst world champion.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anybody in the US that's into soccer: Is this the time is really takes hold? Probably going back 20 years now, there's always coverage and reporting that "this is it, it's really going to take off" then nada until the next world cup

    ReplyDelete
  40. Honestly, no. Unless the US somehow wins the next four in a row (Portugal, Germany, R16 and R8 opponents), or makes the Championship match, the usual "push" will be there, and the usual resistance will also be there.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I guess the problem is that the World Cup is more a "hype" than "growth". much more important than a short hype would be an actual long term development which most importantly would require the MLS to become more interesting for football fans in the States (afaik most fans are more into the European leagues, aren't they?).

    ReplyDelete
  42. USA/Portugal just kicked off. I predict a score draw, maybe 2-2.

Homer: "Ooh, I'll kill myself if Portugal doesn't win!"

    ReplyDelete
  43. I dont mind but I also do not want to piss off Stranger, as that is his thread

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yeah, it's hard to watch the MLS when it's not that hard to find EPL games.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Not a good start. Shit.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Figured, indifferent to it taking off, just sick of the same articles/speculation every WC cycle. Wish Goodell would take note in his push for NFL in Europe, some things just don't have to be

    ReplyDelete
  47. well, that escalated quickly @ match.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL GIVE UP AN EARLY GOAL?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Aric Johnson, Ambrose FanaticJune 22, 2014 at 4:09 PM

    PORTUGAL!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Portugal: 11-0-0 when scoring first

    US: 0-16-4 when conceding first

Well, time for some history. Either the same old, same old, or something new.

    ReplyDelete
  51. The US always gives up an early goal. Hilarious if they gag this

    ReplyDelete
  52. I put up the Sunday Night thread

    ReplyDelete
  53. Close, but nope. Nice try Dempsey.

    ReplyDelete
  54. strangely enough it seems that a team like New York Cosmos to a certain extent served as model for many huge teams of today (with "overblown" contracts for huge names).

    ReplyDelete
  55. Night thread is up early. Let's fill the sucker.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Madden's heart was in the right place with the announcing. He just really lacked any credibility whatsoever. I would take Schiavone and Madden over the current group any day.

    ReplyDelete
  57. WIE WILL OVERCOME!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Serious question for the non-Americans: were wrestlers like Jim Duggan with the USA chants faces or heels in your country?

    ReplyDelete
  59. if someone wants an example of how football crazy Germany is: the tv channel who broadcasts the World Cup has six or seven available optional camera angles for tablets and mobile phones. besides some neat ones (tactical birds-eye view) there is one who focuses on Jürgen Klinsmann during the whole match!

    ReplyDelete
  60. back then Jim Duggan was a face. but I could actually envision him being treated like a heel today.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Close, but not quite off that well-earned corner. Just have to not make any more stupid mistakes.

    ReplyDelete
  62. How much is it to BITW?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Are you asking how much it is to order the ROH PPV, Best in the World? According to The Internet, the SD version is $24.95. I'm guessing the HD version (if it's shot in HD, I have no idea) would be $34.95.

    ReplyDelete
  64. ROH's show.

    ReplyDelete
  65. No,time left for the show to begin.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Not that, just that it was a weird response to my post. Pete's got you covered above, because I had no idea.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think the pre-show starts at 730 and the PPV itself at 8.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Apparently I didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  69. What time is it the US?

    ReplyDelete
  70. btw: always weird to be reminded of the different timezones. it's already twenty minutes after midnight here.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Sorry, it's 6:30PM here. So the pre-show should start in about an hour, the PPV itself in an hour and a half. Roughly.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Haha yeah, I realized after I typed it that perhaps braziliankid didn't live in the US.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thank you very much.

    ReplyDelete
  74. You did, it just took a few more posts.

    ReplyDelete
  75. 7/10 for the joke.

    ReplyDelete
  76. This US team is looking pretty damn solid since the unfortunate start. Now if they could put one that counts in the net...

    ReplyDelete
  77. if Portugals defense is so weak against Ghana in their upcoming game it could easily end like their first one against Germany.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Has anyone saw The invention of lying?

    Pretty good comedy.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Nah, it's really not that good. They have a clever premise but I have no idea what to do with it

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm not much of a soccer fan, I admit, but I'm really getting into the World Cup.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Man I wish HBK accepted an extended world title reign post comeback.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Have not watched a game of the cup.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I've only watched England. Just not in the mood this year for some reason. I think England sucking has something to do with it. Have the US game as background

    ReplyDelete
  84. Me too. I know he wasn't interested in the schedule, but there was a period there where they could have really used him on the main event scene.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I wish wwe had more wrestlers that had are heels in some areas and faces in others (think Bret/Austin in 97 and not cena). Imagine if wwe had a wrestler that was beloved by Latinos or Europeans or Canadians or southerners and nowhere else.

    ReplyDelete
  86. There's a goal somewhere in the Portugese defense. It's just finding that goal that's the tricky part.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Which time zone? There are at least six.

    ReplyDelete
  88. And this is the first time the "water break" rule is used in Manaus.

    ReplyDelete
  89. ... or ever for that matter.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Pussies. Back in my day, we ran for 10 miles in 110 degree heat with no water and then we started our games

    ReplyDelete
  91. rohwrestling.com?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Uh-oh. Even though Howard made the big save, it's still in a dangerous place for this free kick.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Whew, he skies it. That could have been 2-0, and likely game over.

    ReplyDelete
  94. isn't it already like this, at least to a certain degree? afaik a guy like Khali has never been perceived as a heel in India.

    ReplyDelete
  95. great save now!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Better cheerleader for your team: ddp as motivational speaker or Bo Dallas?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Still debating on ordering the RoH show. Anyone else ordering?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Whoa. Well, this damn sure isn't the Portugal who got bulldozed by Germany.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I'm watching by other means.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Shoot the first rock someone who has done that yet?

    ReplyDelete
  101. Cameron lucky to not get a yellow there.

    ReplyDelete
  102. don't want to sound obnoxious but that also might have to do with the fact that they played against >> Germany <<.

    ReplyDelete
  103. If weather is this bad for this World Cup, wait until 2022 in Qatar. Worst sports decision ever especially since it has to be played in January

    ReplyDelete
  104. If you like a company, help their product out.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I bet it gets moved.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Exactly six. Four in the Lower 48, Alaska, and Hawaii.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'd say the odds of a move are greater than 50/50.

    ReplyDelete
  108. 1-0 through 45... US has to find that last couple touches pretty quick, before Manaus shuts everyone down.

    ReplyDelete
  109. England or the US could host the games tomorrow

    ReplyDelete
  110. I am not sure yet. I can actually see them at least trying to go the same route they did this year with Brazil (= "who cares about the criticism, we just do it anyway!")

    ReplyDelete
  111. False. TNA doesn't have a world champion.

    ReplyDelete
  112. And it destroyed peoples lives.

    ReplyDelete
  113. England won't get it because Russia already has 2018, and those aren't getting moved.

    ReplyDelete
  114. The important thing is that we got there.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  120. Deal with it!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Only thing missing from the FIFA slogan:

    "For the money."

    ReplyDelete
  122. Bible Study Comes First

    ReplyDelete
  123. I do not doubt that for one second. I don't know if my comment above come off like it was supposed to. I am not in favor of this kind of policy, it just seems the current Fifa mindstate.

(in a way it's very similar to the Olympic Games: the chances of (many) nations protesting by not competing are so unlikely - as proven by the 2008 Games in China - that there seems hardly no reason for the organisators to bother)

    ReplyDelete
  124. THIS!

Just a way suck the life out of a place.

    ReplyDelete
  125. From far away, Steve McManaman looks like Steven Weber of Wings fame.

    ReplyDelete
  126. What about territories like Guam?

    ReplyDelete
  127. I live in the suburban part of Rio.Their doing a Berlin wall, throwing poor people out of their houses. It's fucking sad.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Same. Would have been perfect in 07 or 08.

    ReplyDelete
  129. i don't think countries will ever boycott, but the migrant worker stuff is going to keep looking bad, as is the fact that they bribed to get the Cup and they can't hold it in the summer.

It's going to get worse before it gets better

    ReplyDelete
  130. Great news! The network version of WCW Slamboree 1993 has the Eaton/Benoit vs Scorpio/Buff and Sid vs Van Hammer "dark" matches that weren't shown on the home video version but were on the original ppv broadcast!!! That's so awesome. Can't wait to watch that show later!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Sid vs Van Hammer is good news?

    ReplyDelete
  132. It was his re-debut back from the WWF as Colonel Parkers mystery man.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I today Benoit vs Malenko at Hog wild 96,great match but damn that crowd was just idiotic.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Crowd killed that match.

    ReplyDelete
  135. So, Carmelo Anthony looks to be opting out of his contract. Where do you think he ends up?

    ReplyDelete
  136. So America is done if they lose this or what?

    ReplyDelete
  137. Uncrusimatic_Buck_NastyJune 22, 2014 at 5:10 PM

was at an fye this afternoon and they had the punk dvd set brand new for $5. score!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Soccer is a sport in the same way that professional wrestling is a sport.

    ReplyDelete
  139. DAMNIT, there were five white shirts versus three red on that break. And they botch the handling well before reaching the box.

    (rimshot jokes acceptable here.)

    ReplyDelete
  140. Miami just to create the greatest heel stable in NBA history.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I think the Bulls too.

    Makes the most sense

    ReplyDelete
  142. Is Germany really good?

    ReplyDelete
  143. But they're definitely in trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  144. It's still a ****1/4 match,both guys gave everything they had.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Yeah, a draw would be as huge as a win.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Uncrusimatic_Buck_NastyJune 22, 2014 at 5:12 PM

quit downvoting me, hhh. you guys make money off of it, too

    ReplyDelete
  147. They squashed Portugal.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Also, where does Kevin Love end up this season?

    ReplyDelete
  149. Bulls. They'll be pretty lethal in Chicago.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Stranger in the AlpsJune 22, 2014 at 5:13 PM

I haven't checked out the blog at all today. No worries, Bayless.

Also, the Sox score 6 runs and STILL can't win a game.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Hmmm... yeah, they are technically part of the U.S.

    ReplyDelete
  152. No but they would need a point against Germany and other things

    ReplyDelete
  153. Let's go Blue Jays

    ReplyDelete
  154. and another chance for a goal that was almost a sure thing.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Stranger in the AlpsJune 22, 2014 at 5:14 PM

Scratch what I just said. PAPI!!

    ReplyDelete
  156. It was as good as it could have been. 30 second squash.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I think so too.

They will offer the best deal, with all of their draft picks

    ReplyDelete
  158. Warriors, where do you think hell end up?

    ReplyDelete
  159. Minnesota isn't impressed by the picks.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Celts.

Someone from ESPN wrote how the Warriors/Wolves hit a snag and the talks are off.

Celts can give them a ton of draft picks and cheaper guys like Bradley, Sullinger, and Olynyk.

    ReplyDelete
  161. usually one of the top favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  162. They need a leadoff and a #3 hitter, badly

    ReplyDelete
  163. Stranger in the AlpsJune 22, 2014 at 5:16 PM

I like what Holt has done in the #1 spot. Ortiz should be #3, Pedroia #2.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Either way, they lost 3 of the games already.

    ReplyDelete
  165. If I'm Minny, I guess I'd be okay with that. Either way, their team is going to be awful to mediocre at best.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Stranger in the AlpsJune 22, 2014 at 5:17 PM

If the offense was any better they could have easily WON three.

    ReplyDelete
  167. A's have elite pitching. This road trip could really bury the Red Sox season, to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Pedroia is more of a #5 hitter, really. He hacks a lot at first pitches that he has no business swinging at, resulting in outs.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Stranger in the AlpsJune 22, 2014 at 5:18 PM

They face King Felix tomorrow night. They need to get out of Oakland with this win.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I think he stays in Miami

    ReplyDelete
  171. Biggest thirty minutes of this World Cup coming up...

    ReplyDelete
  172. I'd rather keep Klay Thompson.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Its better to be awful than mediocre in the NBA. Better chance at the lottery.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Someone just told me Steven Weber was a regular in the Cleveland gay scene of the 90's.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Honestly, I'd rather have Klay and Lee. Giving those up for Love just seems like a lateral move

    ReplyDelete
  176. Only if you're American. Otherwise nobody gives a fuck.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Tactical Nuke: MISSED.

    And it's not over yet...

    ReplyDelete
  178. lol @ Ronaldo.

    ReplyDelete
  179. I've taken a stab at watching it, but it is just too damn European or something.

    ReplyDelete
  180. I'm pretty sure Portugal cares too. As do Ghana and Germany...

    ReplyDelete
  181. trolling: you're doing it wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Maybe they learned their lesson from the KG trade

    ReplyDelete
  183. Heard a rumor that the Lakers want to trade the #7 pick for him

    ReplyDelete
  184. Man, that's the earliest one yet.
