Kane
Randy Savage
Booker T
Scott Steiner
Jake Roberts
Vader
Kane: Not a singles match, but the MITB he won was pretty good.
Savage: DDP in 97. He was way too broken down after that.
Booker: He had some good ones as a part of BookDust.
Steiner: The Nitro finale against Booker?
Jake: Gotta go back pretty far for something great. Probably This Tuesday In Texas.
Vader: Shawn at Summerslam 96.
I thought Vader's match against Taker at Canadian Stampede was great.
ReplyDeletesteiner had some good matches with samoa joe
ReplyDeleteprob better to direct these kinds of questions to people who have more consistently watched
Didn't Kane have a good match with Orton on Smackdown a few years ago? And I really liked Vader's match with (the artist formerly known as) Goldust at the 98 Rumble.
ReplyDeleteVader also had some great matches in Japan too after leavng WWF.
ReplyDeleteI think Booker's last great match was with Angle during the period where Kurt wanted to rape his wife. I can't remember, but I think he had a good match with Joe too on TNA PPV.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought Kane's match with Bryan on Raw leading up to WM30 was pretty great.
Kane and Bryan must have had some stellar outings against The Shield. The one with Undertaker as the third man maybe?
ReplyDeleteYeah, but the problem with Samoa Joe... HE'S FAT!
ReplyDelete/steeninated!
ReplyDelete"I think Booker's last great match was with Angle during the period where Kurt wanted to rape his wife."
ReplyDeleteand therein lies in a microcosm the absurdity of wrestling
personal grudge? family attacked? wrestle it out!
"Undertaker as the third man"
ReplyDeleteBUT WHOSE SIDE IS HE ON?!
Vader's last great match probably took place during his late-90's AJPW run after he left the WWF.
ReplyDeleteFriggen half breed.
ReplyDeleteHe had a couple matches with Misawa that were Observer MOTY runner ups around 99/2000, but I've never seen them. They're probably worth checking out though.
ReplyDeleteHis last ****+ according to cagematch was against Akiyama in 2000. I'd never seen it before, but thanks to youtube, I was watching it in seconds. It's a fun little brawl
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QOWpTqhGgg
TLC Shield debut is ***** IMO so that has to take his last best match for me.
ReplyDeleteKane actually had like 3 4+ star matches in that period. It's funny because that's probably the best he ever was workrate-wise.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, he had a killer match with Misawa in like 99 or 00. Damn near powerbombed him through the ring!
ReplyDeleteSaw one he had against Misawa in 2000 that was brutal.
ReplyDelete...just, wow
ReplyDeleteThe best part of that match was when he was beating up the man who'd tried to rape his wife, then stopped to perform a spinarooni.
ReplyDeleteSpinarooni = MIND GAMES
ReplyDeleteWhat is the best Kane singles match? The first one vs Bryan was mediocre, the one from ER was solid sportz entertainment. Maybe that famous Smackdown match vs Kurt Angle?
ReplyDeleteHis match against Angle at WM18 was a solid affair. I think his best singles match is his match against Taker at WM14 but I seem to be alone in that.
ReplyDeleteMeh. What do you know anyway? You think that the 5-star match and one of the coolest moments in wrestling at Canadian Stampede is actually good. Pfft.
ReplyDeleteThere was that weirdly great match against Albert on a 2001 episode of Smackdown for the IC title.
ReplyDeleteHey, is everyone else having issues with the Network, or is it just me?
ReplyDeleteIt's working okay on my laptop. That's about all I can tell ya.
ReplyDeleteI'm having trouble too. Can't get anything on my PS3 nor my laptop.
ReplyDeleteLive feed is fine for me, but everything else says requested video not available.
ReplyDeleteYeah I guess my tastes as far as match quality are pretty unorthodox. I mean silly me, I always assumed that the amount of crowd heat was tied into the quality of the match but its a stand alone concept that makes or breaks matches. I need to see more wrestling I guess.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you on the 411 comparison/assessment from a day or two ago, too, btw.. I'm pretty fortunate that I've been busy enough this week so as to not get sucked into the vortex of gimmickry, weirdness, and borderline stupidity.
ReplyDeleteI just queued up an old episode of Raw and it seems okay.
ReplyDeleteThe last few days were good ones to miss.
ReplyDeleteThe one with Benoit at Bad Blood 04 was surprisingly good.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9ZpqHI2fwI
ReplyDeleteHe's not fat. He's big boned.
ReplyDeleteKane's Falls Count Anywhere match with Orton at Extreme Rules 2012 was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteIt's working fine for me.
ReplyDeleteKane had a couple pretty good matches against both HBK and Edge before either retired. Never hit great, but were definitely good. Irrelevant if tag matches count, because then obviously it's Hell No vs. Shield in some permutation.
ReplyDeleteJake had a weirdly good random match in his out-of-shape 1997 comeback, I think maybe against Owen, but can't remember for sure. Just remember being like "wow, Jake must be sober tonight." As far as an actually great one, though, it's probably something against either Savage or Rude, though also probably not one of the PPV (or whatever) ones, either.
Booker's series with Cody a few years ago had at least one really good one in there, but I can't remember which one it was.
Steiner: No idea for singles, but he was part of that awesome Survivor Series match in '03 where Shawn decided "fuck it, let's see if I can make a match with Steiner, Mark Henry, and pre-awesome Bubba Ray in it into *****". He couldn't, but he got it pretty close. Steiner did very little to help with that, though.
Vader: Did he ever fight Foley again after the Shawn match? I feel like he probably did, and it was probably good. He also had a great one against Bret on some throwaway Raw or B-show around that time. Definitely something from that period, for sure.
Orton was on a roll from 2011-2012. He also had a great Street Fight with Kane on SmackDown in 2011. Hell, he had a fun match against Otunga on a holiday Smackdown as well.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Steiners Vs Dudleys in TNA, but it was more a pleasant surprise that Rick and Scott actually put together a decent match.
ReplyDeleteI love Vader's cameo match against Heath Slater. Dude looked better than he did his entire WWF run and redeemed splitting his pants.
And there's a reason Kane hasn't had a DVD.
While, they weren't great, Vader's last good WWE matches were against Taker in 97. His match against Shamrock in 98 is pretty fun too.
ReplyDeleteI had issues earlier but it seems fine now
ReplyDeleteVader and Foley tagged at WrestleMania 13.
ReplyDeleteAlso agree on the Survivor Series 2003 match. One of the single best performances of Shawn's career. I'm not big on the whole "carrying" concept, but Shawn literally carried that entire match. Such an amazing performance and JR brought it too. The last 15 minutes when it's just down to Christian, Jericho, and Orton(all 3 of those guys also brought the goods)are just amazing.
Outside of a few matches here and there, Kane has long been one of the most boring guys in the ring for me. I stopped giving a crap about his matches a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteIf tag team matches count, he had some other strong ones against the Shield, but I agree, that was probably the best.
ReplyDeleteMy picks again (lol):
ReplyDeleteKane (a somewhat underrated match against Shawn Michaels at Unforgiven 2004)
Randy Savage (vs. DDP at Halloween Havoc 97)
Booker T (vs. Chris Benoit at No Way Out 2006?)
Scott Steiner (the match against Booker T on the final Nitro does come to mind)
Jake Roberts (a small tie between the WMVI match against Ted Dibiase and This Tuesday In Texas against Randy Savage)
Vader (definitely vs. Shawn Michaels at Summerslam 96)
That Survivor Series 2003 match was one of the most absurd things (in a good way) I've ever seen. HBK was feeling it that night.
ReplyDeleteThe bloodiest WWE ring I can remember seeing post WM13, too. Shawn went to, like, 2.0 Muta on that one.
ReplyDeleteMatch never gets enough love because, I mean, it's a multi-man match with a bunch of crummy workers and a run-in finish, but it's a great story and has a peak-level performance from the GOAT. I feel ok going ***** on it, but I'm pretty easy with the snowflakes whenever a match gets me invested emotionally, no matter the work/booking. That one did.
I have never been a Kane fan. Too many stupid storylines. Too many face/heel turns. Also I love masked wrestlers but he's had some dumb looking masks like the Welder's helmet and his current one.
ReplyDeleteVader was the best part of the four man match they had at Final Four.
ReplyDeleteI think what really killed Kane for me, is when they had Austin beat him clean on Raw for the World title the day of the King of the Ring 98. He was an unstoppable monster, then he was just another guy.
ReplyDeleteAnd while we're talking Vader, his entire WWF run sucked because the Kliq were pussies that couldn't hang and whined to Vince. And also probably were worried about him taking a "spot".
ReplyDeleteMainly just Shawn.
ReplyDeleteKane has had a DVD.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely feel comfortable going ***** on that match. Best Survivor Series elimination match in my opinion. With the work done in the match and the follow-up with Austin(which was nullified but still, in the moment it worked) It is an amazing match that goes really unheralded.
ReplyDeleteSome issues, but nothing major.
ReplyDeleteWell, sure, if you're going to bring facts into the discussion...
ReplyDeleteI can picture Nash and Hunter piling on. Pac and Hall, not so much.
ReplyDeleteNah, that's Dr. Facts job. Just didn't know if he knew.
ReplyDeleteHmm. So he has. I knew about the little 1 disk job they had but it was hardly worth a mention.
ReplyDeleteThat didn't help. I dunno they just rarely booked him as a fun monster like they did Taker, not to mention that Jacobs is not as good on the stick or in the ring. I will say he brought it with Bryan though.
ReplyDeleteTo properly start this bitch off:
ReplyDeleteZombie Bob Ross painting happy trees: Best thing on TV today, or best thing on TV EVER!?
Did, did Kane just hit a hurricarrana?
ReplyDeleteGreetings fellow TNA sufferers!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't Angles fault!
ReplyDeleteHello,studying and watching.
ReplyDeleteHello.
ReplyDeleteHola. Ready for a billion brawls in under 2 hours of a TV show?
ReplyDeleteSometimes studing is more fun...
ReplyDeleteYou cannot have a TNA viewing without....the Midnight Stranger.
ReplyDeleteBut its 8:57 PM
ReplyDeleteYou bet!
ReplyDeleteMedieval history,the guy is maniac.
ReplyDeleteIt's midnight.....in the Andes. Possibly?
ReplyDeleteWhere's your title?
ReplyDelete:-O!
ReplyDeleteNope. Would be even earlier there, I think.
ReplyDeleteHey, you can find some excitement out of that.
ReplyDeleteKane coming back in summer 02 with a new half mask and doing the spinaroonie killed him for me. Yet another character ruined by gerwitz.
ReplyDeleteStarted Final Fantasy X yesterday and ordered Kingdom Hearts II for PS2.
ReplyDeleteOn tonight's episode, Dixie tries to strip Eric Young of the World Title, but his wife ODB slaps Dixie in the face and quits the promotion. Young then forced to face Abyss in a Gurney Match.
ReplyDeleteLet's see how TNA impresses us again.
ReplyDeleteHe can't get in the US anymore, threw a molotov cocktail in the american embassy.
ReplyDeleteAND Eric's leg is losing strength and the title might be vacated and put into a King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to play Chain of Memories and 358 first.
ReplyDeleteCan't. Won't be able to get PS3 fixed for awhile.
ReplyDeleteSo,here what happened today. My cientific texts teacher asked to do a essay comparing 2 things,I compared Fire pro wrestling X and HCTP,he was impressed.
ReplyDeleteKenny King is not smart? No, he is not.
ReplyDeletelmfaoo
ReplyDeleteThen be very afraid.
ReplyDeleteThen just focus on FFX for awhile, lot of good scores in there.
ReplyDeleteOh. Well......then I'm from Mt. Fuji. Konichiwa!
ReplyDeleteHe said I could write about everything,my buddy compared IOS to Android.
ReplyDeleteIf TNA opted not to keep Joe, would he even succeed in ROH anymore?
ReplyDeleteHey, Joe made a rhyme.
ReplyDeleteUm, yes? Absofuckinglutely? Without a doubt?
ReplyDeleteShould've compared TNA and XPW
ReplyDeleteHe says he's alright now,he's married to chick that was a NUN.
ReplyDeleteHe would be a monster again.
ReplyDeleteThat's too much.
ReplyDeletebut but I want to play KH II!
ReplyDeleteLet's call this by its real name: The NBA Finals thread.
ReplyDeletePerfect guy to knock Cole's head off.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he would've appreciated the beauty that was XPW.
ReplyDeleteOk......you'll be slightly confused then....
ReplyDeleteHe hasn't had a great match, outside of last year with Angle, in years.
ReplyDeleteOh tag.
ReplyDeleteI picked Spurs in game 1
ReplyDeleteTNA! TNA!
ReplyDeleteWhat's a TNA?
ReplyDeleteYes please.
ReplyDeleteWatching ROH now?
ReplyDeleteChain of Memories is on PS2. I could just buy a used copy and the gameplay is card based I heard. Not a fan...
ReplyDeleteOh, uh no. Sorry, wrong Cole.
ReplyDeleteNever played chain of memories nor 358 days, are they good?
ReplyDeleteJoe should mention that Kenny King lost Tough Enough to Jackie Gayda and Shaniqua.
ReplyDeleteJoe should just kill people like he used to in 2005,good times.
ReplyDeleteDidn't watch. Just am aware of the ***** star matches he was having.
ReplyDeleteWoody Harrelson = second most underrated actor of all time behind Gary Oldman.
ReplyDelete2005 Joe vs Brock is ***************
ReplyDeleteThis NEEDS to be Money, Power, Respect theme (or at least a good knockoff)
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/4-aXFR189rI
Can do comedy,drama,suspense.Great actor.
ReplyDeleteThat or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK6TXMsvgQg
ReplyDeleteMeh....I was just playing with the avatar. That mask was itchy anyway. Now all that stuff below looks silly.
ReplyDeleteMiami's wearing red, which means a guaranteed Spurs win.
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness, I think San Antonio wins tonight, Heat win in 6. Interestingly, the Big 3 era Heat have never lost a series without HCA or after losing Game 1.
That's TNA's theme.
ReplyDeleteI'll be switching between the Finals and TNA. Love that Mark Jackson is already back in the announcing booth.
ReplyDeleteOnly if they can run around really fast
ReplyDeleteTaryn Terrell returning at the Impact tapings in a couple weeks.
ReplyDeleteCan any of you anime heads tell me about Kill La Kill? Is it any good?
ReplyDeleteMore spank material.
ReplyDeleteI miss Brooke.
ReplyDeleteI still have a tough time watching the Heat. I'm not watching basketball, I'm watching something I hope the Heat don't win. I'm always "Yeah, I'm over LeBron" until the Finals every year.
ReplyDeleteBoth are repetitive, but you're playing for the story.
ReplyDelete"Mama, there go that man!"
ReplyDeleteWhich is?
ReplyDeleteSame here.
ReplyDeleteMissed a few minutes, what's going on for the main event?
ReplyDeleteSo a while back, I tried to watch every Survivor Series using only online streaming sources. I failed around 2003. Today, spurred on by my new, awesome ChromeCast OK trying the same thing, only this time I'm watching every post-Wrestlemania Raw. So far, having watched 1993 and 1994 the most interesting things have been Lawler's first match on Raw Steiners trying to commit murder on the Beverly's, and Diesel throwing a really pretty looking flying shoulder. Oh! And the Chris Hamrick sell!
ReplyDeleteSpike just ran a promo for a CMT show that starts at 9 tonight... right up against Impact. That's gotta make TNA real happy.
ReplyDeleteThe three man they have at ESPN has great chemistry.
ReplyDeleteESPN and the NBA need to understand that the Heat are NOT that popular.
ReplyDeleteKH, tying the stuff between 1 and 2.
ReplyDeleteWhy do they keep referring to Willow as Jeff Hardy? Doesn't that defeat the purpose?
ReplyDeleteGameplanning for Willow: Bring hard drugs, call cops.
ReplyDeleteJeff would kill the cops.
ReplyDeleteI agree, especially in their own hometown. Another reason I wish TNT had the Finals.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like JVG as a coach he's found his niche as a commentator.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I'm thinking.
ReplyDeleteWhile he's busy, I win by countout.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I view them as the heels of the NBA.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Some of the shit he says is hilarious. I still laugh when he said that Varejao needed to have a Scarlett F sewn on his jersey.
ReplyDeleteDo they cheat like Flamengo?
ReplyDeleteThe refs don't call calls on them.
ReplyDeleteThat looked ugly.
ReplyDeleteToo many Instant Replays, TNA. Too damn many.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't Jeff just be Jeff?
ReplyDeleteOw.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen this many replays ever in TNA.
ReplyDeleteLike Flamengo,the Heels of soccer.
ReplyDeleteBecause Jeff thinks he's now a sorcerer;.
ReplyDeleteTHe refs cheat for them.
ReplyDeleteAnd LeBron flops alot.
Good man, Magnus.
ReplyDeleteWe'll there goes a face turn.
ReplyDeleteLike flamengo!
ReplyDeleteCome on, play the theme.
ReplyDeleteI hate the Impact Zone so much.
ReplyDeleteNew Jack laughs at what you consider violence in the ring, Magnus
ReplyDeleteAren't you the TNA sympathizer?
ReplyDeleteYes.
ReplyDelete:shutters:
ReplyDeleteYou got that right.
Other than the idiots in the Zone, does ANYONE care for them?
ReplyDeleteIt's a start.
ReplyDeleteEddie vs. Richards III - the Rematch YEARS in the making!
ReplyDeleteThe fans are terrible in that building.
ReplyDeleteAs in the set up itself, or the fans in it?
ReplyDeleteIt's a theme park attraction to them.
ReplyDeleteActually IV,and the last one sucked,40 minutes of Jujutsu jack off Davie kicking out of everything.
ReplyDeleteBoth. It's so ugly and outdated. TNA should've done Impact from Center Stage in Atlanta over that dump. I can't wait for the Pennsylvania and NYC tapings.
ReplyDeleteHow Ice T has fallen.
ReplyDeleteI miss the six side ring setup.
ReplyDeleteTotally forgot about their TV title match.
ReplyDeleteFrom cop killer to cop in a tv show.
ReplyDeleteAnd the tunnel entrances.
ReplyDeleteIt made them different.
ReplyDeleteBest TNA theme of all times?
ReplyDeleteWinter
ReplyDeleteAnd wasn't that the original purpose of the company all along?
ReplyDeleteAJ,Beer Money,MCMG tied.
ReplyDeleteA tie between Angles and AJ Styles, rap I Am theme.
ReplyDeleteUntil Hogan came along.
ReplyDeleteOk then.....
ReplyDeleteThe original I am or the new one.
ReplyDeleteAs Scott said, he ruined it all.
ReplyDeleteJoe comes out, kills King, tosses him in for the Wolves to kill, happy times.
ReplyDeleteNew.
ReplyDeleteThe orange goblin.
ReplyDeleteI gotta say I like Evil ways.
ReplyDelete
