With the Razor's Edge within the first couple of minutes of this match, I was hooked. I have not really seen this match included on any DVD sets (you may correct me if I'm wrong), and it certainly has not been seen on the Network. I've only ever seen this match when it originally aired. Call it ****1/2?

First saw it on one of the generic Coliseum tapes of the 90's. Was amazed at the action in this match, still have it around somewhere.

ReplyDeleteWell fuck.
ReplyDeleteI was studying for midterms and totally forgot about the fantasy NHL draft.
Do I even have a team, what happens now?
It auto-drafted for you
ReplyDeleteYep, incredible. Shawn as the "Heel in peril" near the end of the match, and the Diesel/Kid super mismatch were pretty cool to see.
ReplyDeleteMentioned this before, but I will never forget the day this match aired. I was like 6 and played soccer. I had a soccer match at noon that day, the time Action Zone aired, pleaded with my mom to tape it for me, as I knew the match would fucking rock. Of course she didnt tape it, Took my like 6-7 years to finally see it once I discovered the magic that was downloading files on the internet.
ReplyDeleteOn to the match itself, still great stuff. Id go **** 1/2 as well
I love this match. I have it on an old Coliseum tape. Really kind of proves that the Kliq always worked hardest when they were wrestling each other.
ReplyDeleteThere has to be a reason this isn't on a DVD.
ReplyDeleteThe draft date should be on during a Raw.
ReplyDeleteBut not as hard as the Sabres. Or the Avs if their preseason is any preview of what's coming.
ReplyDeleteThat was the joke of my edit. The computer just takes whoever was "the best" available player.
ReplyDeleteI'm supremely doubtful I'd have concurred with Giroux being in the top whenever my pick was players.
He's not even top 20 (to me!)
Never go off the presason.
ReplyDeleteThe leafs usually have great pre-seasons. Awesome first 25 games or so too.
It's the end of the season where they lose 19 of 24 to plummet out of the playoffs, then choke in game 7 the following year, then lose seemingly every game at the end of the season again to finish just outside a playoff spot they had ALL YEAR.
GREAT match.
ReplyDeleteThis not being on the "Greatest Stars of the 90's" DVD is a crock.
ReplyDeleteYeah, when the story suits it, they should really do the heel in peril thing more often as it's a fun way to make the boring tag formula fresh.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a cornerstone on a "Kliq" DVD, which I'm sure will be released in the next few years.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually the first time I've seen this match. And it's terrific, no doubt. But two things: the ending came out of nowhere and that sucks, and Vince McMahon and Todd Pettengill are easily the worst announcing duo in the history of the universe.
ReplyDeleteA motivated Kliq is quite the sight; three great workers and Diesel having a great tag match.
ReplyDeleteLeague full Brian?
ReplyDeleteKiller match. I'd give it at least 4 snowflakes.
ReplyDeleteHBK and Waltman always brought the workrate, but Hall could really go when he was motivated. He could do big man offense (love that short-arm chokeslam) but moved a lot faster than Nash and could bump/sell with the best of them.
I kind of liked the ending out of nowhere, as this was like the opposite of the regular tag formula. One of the most uniquely structured tag matches ever, so really, there was no way it could have been a predictable finish. It had to be something unexpected.
ReplyDeleteThe Conspiracy is back in
ReplyDeleteThe Razor's Edge early was a nice twist. They were creative and they could go.
