Rey Mysterio Returning to WWE Television?
WWE Creative has been working on ideas to bring Mysterio back to television. It has been reported that Vince McMahon himself told some of the WWE higher-ups that Mysterio would be in attendance. Despite all of that, it is not a sure thing that Mysterio will return as there are rumors that he wants to pursue an acting career and other projects outside of wrestling.

Bring in Rey and have put over Kalisto, then let him go. This shit they're doing with his contract is petty as hell.
ReplyDeleteteddy long hasn't aged in 30 years
ReplyDeleteis it racist to say black people age really well?
I hope it isn't some KLIQ RUINED WRESTLING type of bullshit.
ReplyDelete"It has been reported that Vince McMahon himself told some of the WWE higher-ups that Mysterio would be in attendance. Despite all of that, Mysterio broke his leg walking to the arena."
ReplyDeleteBrittle, brittle Mexican.
Well, it's better than saying we're a bunch of dancing jigaboos.
ReplyDelete"Bo Dallas has suffered a foot injury. He is expected to miss between 6-8 weeks. This just in: when hearing of the injury sustained by Bo Dallas, Rey Mysterio lost all hearing."
ReplyDeletePTBN's Greatest Song of the 90s Tournament has kicked off... 640 songs in total. Each day of Round One voting will have a pool of 10 and you choose 5 to advance!
ReplyDeletehttp://placetobenation.com/ptbns-greatest-song-of-the-90s-tournament-pool-round-one-group-a/
Racist.
ReplyDeleteAs far as racial slurs go, you gotta admit that the word "jigaboo" is adorable.
ReplyDeleteAlso cute - Hymie and Honky
I definitely agree with the Bob Holly book recommendation. Gave me quite a different insight on the guy.
ReplyDeleteHe is mexican. I didn't say "Brittle, brittle Beaner."
ReplyDelete#nowthat'sracist
It's kinda true. If I have a child, I'll be all like, "there's my cute little jigaboo..."
ReplyDeleteYou just HAD to mention his ethnicity when there was no reason to do so.
ReplyDeleteShameful.
What a racial thread this has been so far!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sassing me, I deserve it.
ReplyDeleteSassing you?! Are you saying that because I'm black?! Like all us black folks are sassy? Like the ladies from The Help or Shirley from Community?!
ReplyDeleteThere. I edited my original post. I hope it makes the day better. :)
ReplyDeleteno, not all black folks. Just all the overweight black women
ReplyDelete'Teddy, would you say DOOM had the most awesome theme music ever, or just the best theme music ever?'
ReplyDeleteI just chortled at work. Thanks. I sound like a moron.
ReplyDeleteJust more of them to love, honey.
ReplyDeletefor about 30 seconds I wondered "Why would they ask him about a video game?"
ReplyDeleteI was a big mark for Doom back in the day. Obviously nowhere close to the greatest tag team ever but still fun like how Sid Vicious was enjoyable.
ReplyDelete"Teddy, which two playas do you wish you could have tag teamed in the main event on Smakdown that you weren't able to tag team? Holla?"
ReplyDeletedid Sid wear a hockey mask back in mid south, or was that someone else.?
ReplyDeleteMemphis, I thought. I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteI've read and enjoyed Foley's, JJ Dillon's, all of Jericho's, Bret's, Lou Thesz' and Holly's. Road Warrior Animal's was ok. Doesn't really tell you anything you didn't already know (unless you didn't know just how bad of a drug addict Hawk was) but it's an easy read.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Rey Rey already make a terrible horror movie?
ReplyDeleteIs it too soon to declare Teddy Long the greatest ever? Wrestling has a lot of shit bags but he seems really cool to hang out with.
ReplyDeleteI remember a Jake Robert's feud with him- was Jake ever in Memphis?
ReplyDeleteDoom was the first heel group I cheered for. There was no bullshit, just a lot of pain. Also Butch Reed was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHe definitely had his problems with The Kliq but he does praise Hall, HHH, HBK and Waltman for being among the best in-ring guys. He's definitely not a huge fan of any of those guys personally (although it seems like he mended fences with HBK later) but he gives them credit.
ReplyDeleteYes. As Lord humongous, I think.
ReplyDeleteIn mocking other white people who are very obviously not fans of Barack Obama due solely to his race I like to use "pink-pawed spook". These white people are taking away perfectly good words like "socialist".
ReplyDeleteUm. Where is my ice cream bar?
ReplyDeleteWow not much love for pm dawn!
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of that song. I only know the Set A Drift On Memory Bliss one
ReplyDeleteI assume Return of the Mack has a bye to the finals.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly should.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it is in a tough bracket and I am guessing a lot of people don't remember it. Hoping the videos being included help jog some memories.
ReplyDeleteI think that song is from the movie 'Boomerang'
ReplyDeleteI think someone else played Lord Humungous besides Sid because that was in Mid-South in like 85', and Sid didn't really start til 88'.
ReplyDeletejust looked it up on wiki - 12 guys had the gimmick. Sid was one of them. His son was too.
ReplyDeleteApparently someone is still using it.
Bosstones need to go deep in a 90's poll because they were in clueless.
ReplyDeleteSHUT THE FUCK UP, HOSS!
ReplyDelete\Which superstar's face would you like to eat?
I wonder which county contains the House of Humongous.
ReplyDeleteClueless is the movie I would show someone from the future that wanted to know what the 90s were.
ReplyDeleteThe bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin'.

Some updates on the wwe network in the UK situation: http://www.wrestlezone.com/news/524313-why-uk-wwe-network-launch-delayed
ReplyDeletehttp://whatculture.com/wwe/uk-wwe-network-stopped-sky-wwe-negotiate-network-channel.php
You know what I mean....
ReplyDeleteIf I said it to your kid, would you shoot me?
ReplyDeleteNah, I'd stomp on you like Super Mario on an especially fugly goomba.
ReplyDeleteDoom and the Skyscrapers were heel teams that the crowd loved. It was hard to hate them both because they were bad asses.
ReplyDeleteTheir beating of the Rock n Roll Express at GAB 90 was especially glorious. Some of the crowd even turned on them.
ReplyDeleteDouchey move from Sky to step in at literally the last second, but definite idiocy on WWE's part.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that you used the term "shit bag" since so many wrestlers shit in bags.
ReplyDeleteI was so out of touch with 90's music that I never heard of Nirvana or Cobain until after he died. And I was 20 then, so I should've been the right age for that kind of stuff
ReplyDeleteI read the sample and it just came across as a dude watched a bunch of RF Video shoots and just jotted down what the wrestlers said.
ReplyDeleteI dunno, 1995 WWF isn't really that interesting of a subject. The sum the whole thing up as Vince had a shitty creative year.
Well. That escalated quickly.
ReplyDeleteI'd probably get a sick amount of joy from devouring Hogan's face.
Calling a dude brittle because he spent years doing insane, revolutionary stuff in the ring seems a bit harsh.
ReplyDeleteWell, there's an old saying about black aging and wrinkles: Black don't crack.
ReplyDeleteBut boy, did that get misinterpreted during the crack epidemic in the early 1990s...
Bob Roberts would be my choice
ReplyDeleteWouldn't we all?!
ReplyDelete...Here you go, ORANGE FLAVOR! Get it? Nyuck, Nyuck, Nyuck!
phrasing
ReplyDeleteWhich is less of a real thing? Rey wrestling in WWE again or GFW?
ReplyDeletePretty sure you'd get some good trampoline action.
ReplyDeleteI can understand SKYs POV on this issue, but I don't get why the wwe would even announce a launch date until all this shit was worked out? I feel bad for the UK fans because it was RIGHT THERE and got snatched away. (Plus I really love crunchies so I feel more connected to the UK or at least england than most fans) Now they are saying maybe January? Can't they just give them the archive just scrap the live stream or something. Honestly other than at wm I haven't used the live stream for anything. Everything is available to play on demand anyways.
ReplyDeleteThat *should* have been the signal to Ricky and Robert that they needed to change the act a little. We did get the York Foundation, but yeah the R&R were toast in '90.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like you're baiting me into an argument when I'm clearly just making a joke about Rey being injury-prone in the waning years of his career.
ReplyDeleteFor instance, in the time it took me to type the above sentence, Rey re-injured himself.
Jeff Jarrett's GFW is already twice as interesting as TNA has been for the last 5 years.
ReplyDeleteDoes Jarrett really have all these connections or he is just a con man?
ReplyDeleteEven the York Foundation was bad. Ricky Morton was just good 'ol Ricky Morton the hillbilly. And those two had a pretty bad match at Great American Bash IIRC.
ReplyDelete24 years later and the act is still bringing in dozens of fan to state fairs every weekend
ReplyDeleteSorry, I thought you were commenting on the Bob Holly book.
ReplyDeleteThe UK deserves it for being fans of Fandango ironically.
ReplyDeleteRey said as much on a recent MLW podcast that he wants to try other things.
ReplyDelete*Richard Morton the hillbilly. I liked the York Foundation in theory - talented guys and a corporate gimmick that would have worked if the mouthpiece weren't so clearly the backstage "mouthpiece".
ReplyDelete:: facepalm ::
ReplyDeleteAlso, fuck you.
They've already announced talent exchanges with AAA, NJPW, and some smaller promotions.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they just thought fuck it, we’ll put it out there and
ReplyDeletedeal with what happens. I doubt they expected Sky to do… whatever they did, and
force them to completely pull the plug.
He's a second generation wrestler who has been in the business his whole life and has wrestled for practically every major organization in the world.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'd assume he has connections.
Also, I only yell at you because you're always flipping me off! ARGHHHH!!! Get your finger out of my face!!!!
ReplyDelete#I'vebeentoldI'vebeenHossApproved
Me too.. LOL
ReplyDeleteI really hope they get a legit tv deal.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise Jeff had any talent. I mean roster talent.
ReplyDeleteHe's the son of Jerry Jarrett, and he's been in every promotion in one way or another for nearly 30 years.
ReplyDeleteWho do you even root for in a fight between the McMahons and a cable company?
ReplyDeleteThey've been having tryouts for months but they haven't actually signed anyone yet.
ReplyDeleteI don't keep up much so I really don't know, but what does GFW consist of as of now?
ReplyDelete"BAH GAWD THAT'S THE FCC'S MUSIC!"
ReplyDeleteSometime you just gotta call a spade a spade.
ReplyDeleteYou're my kind of people.
ReplyDeleteAs someone said during the NFL's fight with cable.....it's Satan vs Satan's evil brother.
ReplyDeleteNothing besides Jeff, a logo, and the money backing him. They're producing the NJPW PPV for America in January.
ReplyDeletegotcha
ReplyDeleteHey, us European fans kept the WWF afloat during the mid 90s
ReplyDeletewhen they were losing their ass in America. Without us, you’d all be watching
the WCW Network.
(Not me though, I stopped watching in 1994 and didn’t start again until 1997).
So you're saying he's a con man.
ReplyDeleteDamn. Wow.
ReplyDeletei know they could never get the rights, but that drum-chant song from the Temple of Doom scene when the guy gets his heart pulled out would be a really good wrestling theme
ReplyDeleteWatched a countdown show for the first time, on ring gear. Christ was that list awful. Fucking fans are retards.
ReplyDeleteTHE GREAT KHALI MA! THE GREAT KHALI MA! THE GREAT KHALI MA!
ReplyDeleteThat should worry you.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get home tonight, I will change my avatar just for you.
ReplyDeleteSucks for Bo, I hope he's still on the main roster after this.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the Teddy shoot, KC please have a not awful shoot this year.
Did you purposely pick the Alanis Morrisette song which didn't feature Flea and Dave Navarro and thus be awesome?
ReplyDeleteOn a different note. Alanis Morrisette tricked me into thinking she was a bad ass rocker chick with You Oughta Know. I went out and bought that album because I'm like, "Neat. Flea and Navarro are doing a side project with a Canadian woman." Then they weren't on any other tracks.
On another note. Naming a song "Ironic" and singing about non ironic things fits the definition of Ironic.
Got it last night. About 20 minutes in and it seems like it is going to be a great one.
ReplyDeleteAfter the dogshit Brodus Clay, Sydal, and Helms YouShoots, this is a welcome addition.
It's amazing how much better a shoot is with someone whose mortgage is already paid.
ReplyDeleteRandom declarative statement:
ReplyDeleteWhen you call a company and they ask you to spell something, simply restating the word does not fucking help.
Thank you.

ReplyDeletePeople in general.
ReplyDeleteWell, there are 640 songs total in this... Alanis will return for sure.
ReplyDelete#HUSS
ReplyDeleteWait...
Just seen on Amazon that Shawn Michaels has a new book out in February. Seems to have possibly more of a religious flavour than the last one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0310340780/ref=s9_simh_gw_p14_d0_i4?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-5&pf_rd_r=1JFRMH9JN7YFBGDE5Y78&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=455345507&pf_rd_i=468294
ReplyDelete1995 WWF backstage sounds like a way interesting place. Much more than the actual product itself. Of all the wrestling books Jericho's first book is still my favorite.
ReplyDelete#H&HCONNECTION
ReplyDeletedag, yo. That's a lot of songs. How long is this contest going to last? Are you only doing 10 songs a day?
ReplyDeleteI'm not gonna lie -- it haunts me.
ReplyDeleteRandom: I actually enjoy late era original ECW. It's not perfect but it's never boring or awful either.
ReplyDeleteWell, now I don't want it changed. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteBo will return within 2 weeks. All he has to do, is BO-LIEVE!!!
ReplyDeleteNo, but you could see how good they really were. From going toe to toe with the Steiners, to the fun feud with the Horsemen, the only regret I have is that they didn't last long enough.
ReplyDeleteYou may want to keep watching.
ReplyDeleteAs of now... we may do two a day here and there based on volume. Gonna be a long term project for sure... should be pretty fun to track.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the obsession with breaking up teams? Approximately 2% of the feuds are even near hot.
ReplyDeleteIt's a perfect time to start needlin' up too!
ReplyDeleteNo is the PERFECT character for RNN-style updates on his health.
ReplyDeleteI have to wonder if Butch Reed's contract was up, because he didn't do a lot after he lost the blowoff match.
ReplyDeleteEven still, back then most tag teams stayed together, so breakups were rare. With the way tag wrestling is nowadays, breakups are not only common, they're expected (look at the Wolves in TNA).
Check out the ICP one. Was quite amusing and worlds better than s trying else kc has put out recently.
ReplyDeleteIT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU WANT!!!
ReplyDeleteI watched that one. It was better than expected, but still loser clowns.
ReplyDelete*pouts*
ReplyDeleteAre you suggesting he comes back as Mr Perfect?
ReplyDeleteBoth sides are to blame here for not working this out, but I'm still amazed that the WWE won any legal cases at all. You'd think they would have gotten this messed worked out by now, but the fed probably tried to force it through, thinking Sky wouldn't shut them down.
ReplyDeleteSeems like the easiest thing to do is to buy out the contract, but I was kinda surprised at how the fed said it wouldn't be worth it. That tells me they're not optimistic (in a way) of getting a large # of subs from the UK, which is surprising since that's their biggest overseas territory.
Your pouty face can't possibly be as cute as Dolph's.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was surprisingly entertaining.
ReplyDeleteDamn right.
ReplyDelete#ScaryHoss
I’m sure Sky paid WWE a lot of money for the recent deal.
ReplyDeleteSky Sports is coming under competition heavily here for other sports from BT
Sport, who show currently show UFC. They’ve already lost a good chunk of soccer
to other stations recently. I’m sure the deal was good enough to ward off any
attempts by BT to get in on WWE, and they’ll be due some serious compensation
if WWE wants to scrap it.
It's amazing how WWE wrestlers get badly "injured" right before they're scheduled to film WWE Studios movies. What a coincidence!
ReplyDeleteHe's a Mexican-American. He was born in California, wasn't he?
ReplyDeleteInjured foot? That's a needlin'.
ReplyDeleteAlready voted. First to the polls for the General Election, then to pick 5 songs for this. VOTE FLAMING LIPS!
ReplyDeleteHe did manage to steal Karen away from Angle. He's a great con man.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there's a push by Sky to make the Network over the top.
ReplyDeleteDoom's jazzy theme was easily my favorite theme growing up, and I still hum it now and then. WWE needs to release it on iTunes so I can put it on my phone.
ReplyDeleteYou mean "that's a Bradshaw Showerin'? "
ReplyDelete"Ain't I a sight to see? The whole damn world wants to look like me!"
ReplyDeleteNow don't start that Wrestling is fixed crap again
ReplyDeleteEspecially stupid with Doom, who they could have had some more mileage out of for a little longer, I thought.
ReplyDeleteThat was the OTHER Rey Misterio. Senior, not Junior.
ReplyDeleteYou'd think they'd learn to stop making movies!
ReplyDeleteImagine someone told you in the mid-1990s that Shawn would've become a Jesus freak. I'd have told them they were nuts.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read Jericho's first book, despite having both the physical copy and a Kindle version. Bret's is still the best (despite all the obvious jokes). It was a pretty brilliant decision early on to record what happened day to day. I wish more wrestlers would have done that.
ReplyDeleteI hope people voted today! As a political junkie, election day is like Christmas. It should be a national holiday.
ReplyDeleteIf it was a channel you could purchase
ReplyDeletethrough Sky as part of the Sky package, they’d get their cut and that would
more than balance out any losses from losing PPV buys. That might be the only
thing they could do. I don’t think Sky would or should just let PPVs and the
rest go, as WWE is such a big hook for Sky Sports subscriptions, probably second
only to football.
As a long time fan, I watched the WWF in 1995 on a weekly basis, so I do have a nostalgic connection with this particular year. I'm going to check this "Titan Sinking" book out.
ReplyDeleteI'd have a severe stomach virus after reading a WWE Studios script.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like I won't have to put up with Bruce Rauner, so that's good.
ReplyDeleteNot the humble Jesus freak he’s become, at least.
ReplyDeleteMaybe an arrogant I’m A Christian So I’m Better Than You kinda freak.
The wrestlers or WWE?
ReplyDeleteGet him watching Pat Robertson now.
ReplyDeleteIts nauseating to think that Charlie Baker will win in Massachusetts. Then again, Martha Coakley runs the worst campaigns of all-time so it was to be expected.
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame there's no Linda run this year.
ReplyDeleteIt's half as cute, so it still works half the time!
ReplyDeleteMe too! This is going to be a lot of fun to vote in this tournament every day!
ReplyDeletehttp://placetobenation.com/ptbns-greatest-song-of-the-90s-tournament-pool-round-one-group-a/
Oh... yah vote in those elections too for sure! Make your voice heard! I will be voting after work.
Yep. Ron and Butch didn't mess around. They went to the ring to whip a man's ass, get their money, and split. And that theme music was indeed one of the best.
ReplyDeleteSeems legit.
ReplyDeleteWhy does everyone insist on ruining my terrible jokes today?
ReplyDeleteMaybe she'll wise up and try to run for the House, but even that could be an uphill climb. She's probably mad that the Republican might win the CT governor's race today.
ReplyDeleteI will be voting after work, and it won't matter this year because I currently live in SC, and this state will be red until you pry the elephant from it's cold dead hands.
ReplyDeleteWhere the hell are they still finding blowdrys like that? I thought they were all killed off in 1989.
ReplyDeleteHas GFW made their announcement yet?
ReplyDeleteI love that analysts said that “even by modern standards” Linda ran one
ReplyDeleteof the most negative campaigns in history. Poor Vince crying at the end. L
He's staged quite the comeback. Granted, it's against Coakley and she's an awful candidate. As someone who wants the GOP to rebuild their Northeast brand since that would push the party more to the center, I'm happy to see someone win up there but in reality, he's got a Democratic legislature that can override all of his vetoes. I about fell out of my chair when I saw that the Boston Globe endorsed him. I almost had to flip on the Weather Channel to see if hell froze over.
ReplyDeleteHaven't voted in years; need to get back in the game.
ReplyDeleteYes but it was the Wrestle Kingdom show announcement
ReplyDeletehttp://globalforcewrestling.com/gfwnjpwppv/?utm_content=buffer6ff6a&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
Well, if you put it on a tee, someone will take a swing.
ReplyDeleteJesus, the wrestling community on reddit is mind numbingly stupid. They're arguing with me that WCW wasn't a fuck up company and the nWo split was some awesome classic angle.
ReplyDeleteI vote early to avoid the lines of illiterates confused by them space-age voting machines. There's a wheel and a button and these people think it's rocket surgery.
ReplyDeleteOkay, no surprises then.
ReplyDeleteAs an addition to what was listed below, both Harley Race and Terry Funk's book are fun reads.
ReplyDeleteIt's my job.
ReplyDeleteHer campaign, like the selling of the WWE Network, was a joke. By the end she was selling herself as a friend of Barack Obama.
ReplyDeleteAre we talking ECW 2000? It's pretty terrible.
ReplyDeleteBaker was the CEO of Harvard Pilgrim. That company is evil and I work with insurances daily.
ReplyDeleteI vote via absentee ballot to avoid this mess. I don't know why I bother though these days. Republican? Democrat? Same shit, different asshole.
ReplyDeleteEven their first theme song under the masks (Bob Seger's "Her Strut") ruled.
ReplyDeleteAt my precinct we vote like we're taking a multiple choice test. The machine doesn't give you a receipt, though, so you really hope it reads well. I also voted when the polls open here in KY at 6 a.m. to avoid all the craziness.
ReplyDeleteWell, you sir should get a raise.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid to even go there after the first time I visited. The WrestleZone comment section looks sane compared to them.
ReplyDeleteYeah. I was checking the website periodically and nothing else.
ReplyDeleteDepends on the exact debate point. The nWo split wasn't good, but the cleaning house was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThis is fine. But I'd be a lot more excited if they had announced that Jim Ross would be calling the action.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't you just admire the ball from afar? No one appreciates ball admiration anymore.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I like this blog. Most people here are pretty level headed.
ReplyDeleteYou are the third person today to tell me that. I should start a petition and hand in the signatures to my boss!
ReplyDeleteThere is a"Guest" who likes more of my posts than I'm comfortable with. Lurkers love me.
ReplyDeleteThe undercard was thin but the stuff with the Network is good.
ReplyDeleteIt's culture shock. I caught a super cheap flight this week that was worth driving to and from Kansas City. St. Louis-area political ads are pretty tame and Illinois Republicans are goddamned commies by Southern standards, but once I got into central Missouri and toward Kansas it was a goddamned Klan rally on my radio.
ReplyDeleteMcMahons. Cable companies are ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we've got the occasional loons but it's fine
ReplyDelete
