Roseanne always brought it on the Halloween episodes, just finished the one where they trick the bitchy next door neighbor into thinking Roseanne gutted Dan on the kitchen table, a thing of beauty.
ReplyDeleteRandom question:
ReplyDelete50s/60s Lou Thesz in the UFC? Good Idea, or Bad Idea? I think it'd be interesting.
Legit tought guy, Brody or Meng would be cooler, but still a good idea.
ReplyDeleteAssuming modern training techniques he'd be dangerous, assuming he didn't use all the illegal-ass hooks.
ReplyDeleteThey went right to 50-50 booking, not listening to the audience, running the matches over and over and HD all at the time same time huh? I think they turned pg in early 08 also.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you watching
ReplyDeleteRumble 08, I think.
ReplyDeleteRumble 08
ReplyDeleteSaw snowpiercer for the first time since the theater last night. What a great movie.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a Lou thesz match.
ReplyDeleteLOL'd at this.
ReplyDelete"It’s voting week again, and at least one resident of Wake County, North Carolina has written-in the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair on the ballot for County Soil and Water Board of Supervisors. NewsObserver.com has more on the election, which apparently saw a pretty heated write-in battle between Disney’s Mickey Mouse, and President Barack Obama in 2010."
Jeff Harvey...ah the adamle era!
ReplyDeleteWhere are you at, I'll join you I'm stuck at work all night
ReplyDeleteNice. Just about to start Jeff hardy vs randy Orton.
ReplyDelete*Harvey
ReplyDeleteEdge and Rey had two back to back PPV matches that were equally awesome and disappointing at the same time.
ReplyDeleteRey was injured so they were both 10 minute sprints. They rocked for how short they were but damn if Rey was healthy he and Edge could have had magic.
Did you saw BOLA?
ReplyDeleteI still need to watch that. Might do so tonight.
ReplyDeleteSweet I'm there, I'm actually excited I haven't seen these two in forever, they always worked pretty well together
ReplyDeleteOn about hour 1 of Day 3.
ReplyDeleteWhy would he cut his DVD in half?
ReplyDelete(kidding, kidding. But the correct phrase is "Did you see BOLA?")
Was that dude just a huge rib on everyone?
ReplyDeleteI think the whole business was a rib on him actually.
ReplyDeleteForgive me.
ReplyDeleteDude its really good. Like a better hunger games
ReplyDeleteHey, he had a perfectly fine career as an announcer for American Gladiators.
ReplyDeleteACH/Omega might be my MOTY, I need to see Bryan/HHH again. That stunner was awesome.
ReplyDeleteNo problem, just having a little fun there.
ReplyDeleteHunger games with no teen crap.
ReplyDeleteI'm still mad at this msg crows for booing rey
ReplyDeleteHardy's craaaaaazy over in 2008 in MSG.
ReplyDeleteThe crowd is chanting "Let's Go Hardy" and I'm totally trained now to expect an echo "Hardy Sucks" but it...never comes.
Its so weird to see a guy getting pushed that is over with the fana
ReplyDeleteSeriously, every move is over including all the stuff we'd seen for almost 10 years by 2008, it's great.
ReplyDeleteWwe definitely has better HD than sports.
ReplyDeleteI went to the show where Donald Trump purchased Raw. Jeff Hardy was more over than Cena. I wasn't watching then so I was surprised how popular he was. I was just there b/c my nieces wanted to go
ReplyDelete"Whose your boy now huh?!"
ReplyDeleteRandy was doing some fine heel stuff back then too.
Jeff was the MAN from his return in late 06- his departure.
ReplyDeleteBecoming a family man made Orton boring, douchebag heel orton is way better than the Apex Predator.
ReplyDeleteJeff Hardy does the best baseball slide moves
ReplyDeleteAge of Orton was awesome.
ReplyDeleteOh man, Jeff slams his head into the announce table and Orton jumps up and swings at empty air then falls down, wonderful stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe spot where hardy does a front mule kick between the middle ropes and randy takes a backward head first bump into the crowd barrier is awesome!
ReplyDeleteOrton from 2008- WM 25 was one of the best heels of the last 20 years.
ReplyDeleteThat was so good.
ReplyDeleteI was at this show! I think Rey's stuff had gotten stale and people didn't like the Eddiesploitation.
ReplyDeleteI don't think his family had anything to do with it. Creative just evolved his character. He was douchebag heel for 5 years at that point. I think it was the right time for a change and his psychotic character made him one of the most over guys in the company from 2009-2012
ReplyDeleteIn the Teddy Long shoot he talked about Ron Garvin shooting on a jobber. I actually have that match. It's one of the Mulkey's. So Mulkey blows his knee out on a whip to the corner and Garvin completely loses it. Crockett loses it on commentary telling people not to try this at home and what not. I think the Mulkey's went to Starrcade so they wouldn't sue.
ReplyDeleteJericho's 07-08 baby face run was really weird. Even Jericho acknowledged his act was stale.
ReplyDeleteThe evolution was organic, that's what made him over in 2008-2009. This is no longer Orton, the legend Killer, this is now a matured Orton, who knows what he's capable.
ReplyDeleteFuck Rugged Ronnie
ReplyDeleteHere's a classic 50 minute war between him and Buddy Rogers.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEROugeKfOs
lol at anyone that would seriously watch that..
Then Bockwinkel turn until getting squashed by Cena.
ReplyDeleteYea that Y2J JBL feud just sucked
ReplyDeleteLost respect for him on that one. The crowd caught on to it also and started giving him shit. Arn and Tully improvised a run-in and stiffed him on some kicks.
ReplyDeleteLosing a match is not the same getting as squashed
ReplyDeleteThis is match his proof of how awesome wrestling is when you have a face and heel the crowd buys into do a match.
ReplyDeleteI finished Jericho's book. Hilarious and it's his best of the three amazing books.
ReplyDeleteI'm convinced Vince McMahon is the best texter ever.
Jericho texted Vince that he was thinking of using a new finish for his return in 2012(it was gonna be called the Apocalypse Now) but Vince responded Jericho already had a finish:staring up at the lights.
Let me correct. He would lose his heat after the Cena feud.
ReplyDeleteJust witnessed the "Piledriver" video for the first time on SNME. I will say, the guy going to masturbate in the porta-potty was quite the twist ending for a wrestling show.
ReplyDeleteNah man. Jericho was molten as ever after he bloodied Flair and beat up the legends.
ReplyDeleteEven though he transitioned into the hot legends feud?
ReplyDeleteIt's really been pretty damn exciting for a match I know the ending to
ReplyDeleteJericho makes a bunch of notes of texts he got from Vince and they make me laugh every time.
ReplyDeleteEvery Vince story is a homerun.
That is fantastic, I wonder if I can find it on totallylegalkindleversionsdotcom
ReplyDeleteFucking tremendous avatar pic
ReplyDeleteWell you know, sometimes love... it's like a sloooow dance.
ReplyDeleteIt sucked Jericho's reign ended to Cena(especially one of Cena's weaker returns) Cena was pretty flat for a few months after returning. But Jericho turned out more than okay.
ReplyDeleteHere we go Brownies here we go. Woof! Woof!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of the legends feud.
ReplyDeleteCharismatic Enigma is right, there's never been a guy with shittier offense but it never mattered because people loved him.
ReplyDeleteThanks. After finishing the series (yet again) last night, I have to agree!
ReplyDeleteFour-day weekend, here I come! But first, a little BoD action for Mr. Cable Access!
ReplyDeleteAnd then a great feud with Rey and then a dominant tag team and then another title defense at Wrestlemania.
ReplyDeleteMoonsault to the floor, goddamn that looked painful
ReplyDeleteThe Rey feud was great.
ReplyDeleteAt the time I was bummed. But Jericho made gold out of it where in lesser hands it could have bombed.
ReplyDeletePlus, looking back what other match is there for him? Shoving him into the Cena/Edge/Show deal? He'd just get lost in the shuffle.
MITB? He'd been there, done that and he needed the spotlight on him. The legends feud gave him freedom to get great heat and have him a spotlight with him being the heel of the match and interacting with Rourke.
That was a damn great match, I'm stoked for this Rumble, was this Cena's surprise Rumble?
ReplyDeleteJericho from April 2008-WrestleMania 26 was amazing. Maybe the best run of his career. One of the best WWE runs ever.
ReplyDeleteWhy not? It got Jericho great heat and gave Steamboat the farewell he always deserved. Watching Steamboat back in the ring and doing all his old spots was a great moment of nostalgia
ReplyDeleteI dunno about the booking call but great match. One big criticism of Orton from the iwc over the years is that hr made too many comebacks as a heel and the babyface never got a big offensive sequence, but he took a ass kicking in this match to make Jeff look just as good.
ReplyDeleteI'd be willing to bet that's one of Jericho's favorite things he's ever done, he was very clearly loving that whole feud.
ReplyDeleteYup. I think this is a really good one but I haven't seen it in a looong time.
ReplyDeleteHis book(goddamn I'm a whore) confirms that claim.
ReplyDeleteYeah Jeff looked great in this match, he just got caught outta nowhere with the RKO, it was an early part of the Vine push for Randy, let it play ou....whatever.
ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck are taz and styles doing? I know these c show losers aren't about to call the rumble are they?
ReplyDeleteAll six announcers called it
ReplyDeleteI always love these Rumble by the numbers thing.
ReplyDeleteYeah that was weird, a by the numbers Rumble promo ahhhh, the start of an era.
ReplyDeleteIt was just bad timing on Jeff's part
ReplyDeletethey need this one
ReplyDeleteIt's a tragedy that they don't run MSG.
ReplyDeleteI wish they had done Jericho-Steamboat one-on-one at WrestleMania instead of the next show. I understand why they did it, as I'm sure nobody was willing to bet that the Dragon could still go, but damn that would have been what we call a WrestleMania moment for sure.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of jeffs offense, whisper in the with is such a cool move, it deserves a better name.
ReplyDeleteThey do house shows there
ReplyDeleteScrew house shows man! PPV or bust!
ReplyDeleteLol fuck them, that's what they get for booing Rey Mysterio
ReplyDeleteDec. 26 again this year, right? A little bummed I'm going to be out of town. I had started making a tradition of going to the Christmas show every year.
ReplyDeleteAgreed but I just remember marking out bigtime when he busted out the offense that made me a huge fan of his when I started watching
ReplyDeleteWait, what? They've stopped doing tv or ppv there? Wtf?
ReplyDeleteStill? I thought they moved all the NYC shows to Barclays because of the cost.
ReplyDeleteI don't have high hopes.
ReplyDeleteI think that making the Rumble an MSG-exclusive show would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteBOO MYSTERIO!
ReplyDeleteIt's not profitable.
ReplyDeleteWhisper in the wind.
ReplyDeleteBarclays they run TV there.
ReplyDeleteit's a Led Zepplin reference
ReplyDeleteYes. 550,000 people voted against Prop 2 which is amazing. There's that many people who are dicks like me
ReplyDeleteYou'd think a PPV would be more profitable than a house show. Is House Show MSG attendance that good?
ReplyDeleteThis talk of 08 makes me miss that year so much. So many guys that were mega over.
ReplyDeleteWeed brownies?
ReplyDeleteToo expensive I think. NYC fees 4 life!
ReplyDeleteHouse show you can use the whole arena while the set takes out some seating. Plus there's union costs, venue rental etc, that make MSG very expensive.
ReplyDeletePlus the Dolans, ugh.
Buffer! What? I don't remember that?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of that as I was writing up the results yesterday. I was a little surprised to see all three props pass. I thought for sure Prop 1 would get shot down.
ReplyDeleteThey ain't done an MSG PPV since Rocks return at the 2011 Survivor Series.
ReplyDeleteThat city really does everything it can to be expensive doesn't it? Jesus.
ReplyDeleteTypo
ReplyDeleteMichaels/Jericho, HHH busting some nice matches, Hardy's title chase.
ReplyDeleteWe were so innocent in 2008.
ReplyDeleteJeez, this is a Bush-era PPV, lol. That feels like centuries ago.
Prop 1 had the support of the establishment so I wasn't surprised. I voted for someone who won which was a first.
ReplyDeleteI would honestly like to know why someone would vote no for that unless they were just being an asshole
Michael Buffer could be the most uncharismatic announcer in history.
ReplyDeleteAh.
ReplyDeleteTo Prop 2? There are, apparently, about half a million people in New York State who just vote no to everything. If anything proves that, it's Prop 2.
ReplyDeleteUT #1? I don't remember this Rumble at all lol
ReplyDeleteI'm stoked
Plus Edge and Taker and the rise of viper Orton.
ReplyDeleteWait til you see who #2 is.
ReplyDeleteDid you seriously not think it was an accident?
ReplyDeletePlanting the seeds.
ReplyDeletePlease be Brian Adams Please be Brian Adams Please be Brian Adams
ReplyDeleteHe was never a good fit for wrestling imo. Too straight laced.
ReplyDeleteI take it RR 08 is on the Network?
ReplyDeleteHe was already dead.
ReplyDeleteI loved that opener as much as I loved the ending to the year before.
ReplyDeleteSo was Undertaker!
ReplyDeleteThere was a bill in 2013 that was some tax credit or something nice for veterans.
ReplyDeleteI voted no. A scary amount of people voted no to that too
Brian Lee you mean?
ReplyDeleteJobber was watching, people joined because Thursday Night Football is lol
ReplyDeleteNope, they took it off the Network and everyone all at once decided to Daily Motion it.
ReplyDeleteSure. That I don't know his name is better actually.
ReplyDeleteEdge/Taker is a overlooked feud due Michaels/Jericho, that HITC was great even without the blood.
ReplyDeleteBrowns!
ReplyDeleteYou political junkies may find this interesting: http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/battle-for-the-senate-how-the-gop-did-it/2014/11/04/a8df6f7a-62c7-11e4-bb14-4cfea1e742d5_story.html
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain to me what a Super Pac is/does?
Rumble 08 is some of the most fun I've ever had at a wrestling show.
ReplyDeleteWell, the rise, halt, then restart of the Viper.
ReplyDeleteIt's basically a 3rd party raising money and running ads for a candidate only the candidate is legally not allowed to have any involvement with it. No one actually believes that's ever the case
ReplyDeleteShit yeah HBK, first time ever the Royal Rumble entrances are done at 40 minute intervals can has?
ReplyDeleteWas that the one about electronic bills or something? I voted no on it.
ReplyDeleteI used to love to love hearing the truck drivers call in who would have meter maids follow the trucks and ticket them as soon as they park. I live in San Diego and people bitch about the cost of living but I went to high school in ct and we used to always go into the city. I don't care how high my rent is out here, I once paid 160 bucks to park a car in garage for ONE weekend.
ReplyDeletewhat's the difference between that and a regular campaign?
ReplyDeleteLot of entertaining segments as well.
ReplyDeleteLOL There are as many announcers as there are Rumble participants in 2008 apparently.
ReplyDelete@Abeyance @White Thunder are you guys going to TLC?
ReplyDeleteAny particular reason? Or do you also just vote against all props?
ReplyDeleteI'm legit curious about your reasoning.
Six announcers was a horrible idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm undecided
ReplyDeleteI remember showing my non wrestling fan cousin a few of the Rumble matches, and he hated how unrealistic the 08 match was to the 07 match, criticizing how Viscera got eliminated by one man at this show, but it took 7 men to eliminate him the year prior.
ReplyDeleteBrowns win and they're in first place lol
ReplyDeleteI haven't gotten tickets.
ReplyDeleteOk get rid of this Khali lump and go back to Shawn/UT please....
ReplyDeleteIn theory, a SuperPac is only supposed to talk about the issues, NOT the candidates. In reality, it's a thinly veiled campaign attack ad disguised as an "information ad". The only thing missing is a blatant "Vote for Candidate X" endorsement.
ReplyDeleteSix is just way too many. Just let JR and Taz call it.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind racist jokes or stereotyping at all, but Lawler calling santino spaghetti breath makes me wish he would have fired. Not because I'm offended but because Lawler is washed up and that crack should have proven it to everyone.
ReplyDeleteYour wish may be granted.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteCan they take any longer to start this game? I'm going to be drunk by the end of the first.
ReplyDeleteDid Khali have the worst manager in history?
ReplyDeleteA regular campaign is ran by the candidate and committee. Superpacs support who they choose to.
ReplyDeleteGo!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that his kayfabe brother?
ReplyDeleteI got decent seats for 125 a piece.
ReplyDeleteDalton is so gonna blow this game.
ReplyDeleteMsg telling khali he cant wrestle after they booed Rey is annoying.
ReplyDeleteKevin Nash as Oz had Kevin Sullivan dressed as the Wizard running around him.
ReplyDeleteTechnically, they're not supposed to support anyone. But in reality...
ReplyDeleteAnd real life creative member.
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't the worst, but he wasn't the best either.
ReplyDeleteI just don't trust computers, and to be honest I didn't really understand it. Voted no on prop #1 too because I completely didn't understand it, but the word "redistricting" usually means someone gets fucked. Only voted yes on #3 on account of my niece, if I didn't have any school-age relatives I would have voted no on that one too. $2 billion?
ReplyDeleteThat is a steep price right around Christmas time.
ReplyDeleteJoMo!
ReplyDeleteAnd he keeps attacking HBK/Holly and running away scared from UT lol
Shoot Interview Poll is up
ReplyDeletehttp://vote.pollcode.com/25185967
The Wizard was the worst, IMO
ReplyDeleteI was going to make a rebuttal but no he was pretty awful. Oscar comes close but at least he rapped.
ReplyDeleteWhen did Nitro switch to Morrison?
ReplyDeleteBig Bang Theory.....
ReplyDeleteHoly Shit
I wavered on Prop 3, because I think it might put an unfair fiscal burden on the state, but on the other hand, the tech improvements are desperately needed.
ReplyDeleteProp 1, in theory, is something that the State needs to clear up on the stupid shit that happens every 10 years with redistricting, but it was a half-assed measure because no one in power will actually allow shit to get straightened out.
After MNM broke up and he went to ECW
ReplyDeleteTommy Dreamer is here to finally give us a draw in the Rumble match.
ReplyDeleteHe gets extra props for me from having his act stolen by Wyatt.
ReplyDeleteMid 07
ReplyDeleteJuly of 2007, right after he won the ECW title.
ReplyDeleteSays the ECW fans only.
ReplyDeleteWhat kb said.
ReplyDeleteA regular campaign is Vote For Devin Harris
A PAC is Americans For Tax Relief and Devin Harris just happens to support tax relief and they raise money and spend ads about tax relief and pointing out that Devin Harris' opponent is not for tax relief
I wnet back & read Scott's review of Rumble '08 and half the field is made up of guys who I thought had been booted years earlier. Hardcore Holly, Snitsky, Shelton Benjamin, Viscera, Chuck Palumbo....
ReplyDeleteI love thr idea of having a Shawn and taker match in between the rumble. This is pretty good.
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm loving it so far
ReplyDeleteNew Machine Head is devastating
ReplyDeleteI knew the other guys were still hanging out outside of Palumbo. Holy fuck, was he a surprise emtramce?
ReplyDeletePenny's butch haircut?
ReplyDeleteBatista is OOOOOOVER, he and UT just look at each other and the crowd pops huge
ReplyDelete
