Any thoughts? Have you been reading the weekly comics leading up to these events (Future's End and World's End)? They've been pretty good so far, IMO, and some of these 2-parters look like they could be pretty good.
Loving the 90s song tournament folks. Tons of fun.
ReplyDeleteAs a personal aside, I've got a cubicle job, and I think I've listened to the PPV Draft episode about 10 times over the last year. What a great episode (even if I had vastly different opinions than you gents on most of your choices, and was aghast at the lack of inclusion of Payback 2013 & MITB 2013). That said, we've had a pair of top notch ppv's since then (WM 30, Summerslam 2014) and a few other very good ones to go with it (Extreme Rules, MITB, Elimination Chamber). Any chance there'd be another one sometime in the future, maybe with a voice or three added to give it a new dynamic....not to be too specific with a fan request or anything. (Sorry about that. Love love love the draft & list-a-mania episodes. Those are some of the most enjoyable podcasts I've got in my iPod.)
I'll start off the discussion.
ReplyDeleteI do not read comic books.
And that is my contribution to the thread.
Thanks, Bayless. You're a jam-up guy.
ReplyDeleteThe latter would make MichaelXavier quite happy.
ReplyDeleteI stopped reading them in 1992 when I realized that I was spending half my paycheck on comics.
ReplyDeleteHonesty is my best attribute.
ReplyDeleteHow much were you making in 1992?
ReplyDeleteBrie should remain far, far away from the Divas belt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout-out!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the WM9 ending is a really good option. I originally had that in mind for the Mania 30 ending because I thought Triple H would walk out the champion (so Bryan could do the "Go get 'em, Hulk!" like Bret Hart did at Mania 9), but no reason it couldn't be used for Mania 31 or another event.
I mean, WrestleMania is a draw in itself. You'd probably want to save Hogan's last title win for a B-PPV so it will boost subscriptions and buyrates.
I was making 4.25 per hour at McDonalds, maybe 35 hrs/wk.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point. I have some friends who were in a fairly successful local band. They were lucky enough that the singer and guitarist had parents who were pretty well off to support them until they got a record deal. They said it became 100X more work and hassle when they had to deal with the label in addition to touring all over the place. They could've pushed through and probably gotten bigger but a couple of the guys in the band couldn't really handle it and they drifted apart. The singer is now back in college but he also writes, produces and does studio vocals and he seems way happier doing that rather than grinding on the road and having to answer to a record label.
ReplyDeleteI know, because it worked so well in 2002. Had to go there.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of money on comics in all honesty.
ReplyDeleteThe descriptions on some of these books sounds like they could be a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to a bunch of them, not to mention whatever else they announce before April.
ReplyDeleteA bunch of DC comics continuities trapped under domes and forced to fight at the whim of Brainiac, my favorite Superman villain? Sign me up! Interestingly, from these descriptions, the Flashpoint characters seem to be agitators, which could lead to some interesting situations.
And yes, I did send this email, why do you ask?
Especially considering they were about $1.25 an issue back then. Ah, the good old days!
ReplyDeleteGood for JR doing the New Japan show. If WWE doesn't want to use him except for the odd talking head interview, let him do this show and do what he does best.
ReplyDeleteJR on NJPW!!! WWE NETWORK CAN KISS MY ASS IN HELL!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am here to please. Or eat ice cream.
ReplyDeleteHogan sold a ton of merchandise when he came back to WWF in 2002. Yeah, ratings and buyrates didn't exactly pick up. But Hogan's last two WWE matches (SummerSlam 2005 and 2006) both did great buyrates. He's still in the top 10 merchandise sellers since he came back. The Network potential totally changes the game too.
ReplyDeleteMy Subscriptions: Justice League, Justice League International, New Warriors, Guardians Of The Galaxy, X-Factor, Captain Atom, Starman, Hawk & Dove, Uncanny X-Men, X-Men, The Amazing Spider-Man, Sensational Spiderman, What If, Spawn, WildC.A.T.S., Youngblood..
ReplyDeleteand those are just the ones I can remember..
That would be my reaction too (though, based on our past discussions, for obviously different reasons)
ReplyDeleteExcept it's the US title. Even no bumps Bret Hart won that.
ReplyDeleteWhere's Sting in this equation? People are excited to see him work. Hogan/Sting at WM for the title, then carry it over into the B-PPVs to save the network.
ReplyDeleteGood deal. We see and hear about the fortune and fame, but we don't consider what goes into it. Taylor Swift came out with a new album. How much downtime do you think she'll enjoy for the holidays?
ReplyDeleteAnything involving Grant Morrison is going to be pointless dreck.
ReplyDeleteSo Survivor Series will probably be:
ReplyDeleteCena/Ryback/Show/Sheamus/Ziggler vs Rollins/Kane/Henry/Rusev/Harper (SS Elimination)
AJ/Nikki (Divas Title)
Gold & Star Dust/Miz & Mizdow/Usos/Matadores (Tag Titles)
Wyatt/Ambrose
And that's it? The main event will probably have to go close to an hour at this rate, and I can't really think of any other matches that could be made. An NXT SS match would be pretty cool, Say:
Neville/Zayn/Itami/Lucha Dragons vs Kidd/Titus/Ascension/Breeze or something, I dunno.
Speed Force?!
ReplyDeleteI'm out of the loop (got back into comics a bit when the new 52 launched, lost interest again) but I thought Damian was dead.
Eh, we've seen Hogan vs. Sting. Their Bound For Glory 2011 match was awful on every conceivable level.
ReplyDeleteHogan needs someone younger to help carry him through the match. And if Sting is going to have one match in WWE, it better be with a guy he hasn't wrestled before (Undertaker? Triple H?)
They actually had a new album released yesterday, and I'm going to see that at Wrigley Field in August. I also NEVER thought what was basically a solo album from Nirvana's drummer would become a band that successful. You really just never know.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound cool, but you're probably more likely to get a Total Divas elimination match instead, I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteAll this with Rusev may be moot anyway, since they've been gradually weaning him away from Lana, and yesterday was a clear sign that they want to hold her back.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to see Rusev maintaining any heat without Lana.
Have to admit, Oracle written by Simone is something I've been missing a lot.
ReplyDeleteHulk Hogan should not be in a wrestling ring in 2014.
ReplyDeleteIt's a certainty, unless he snuggles up with HHH and the Authority to talk for him.
ReplyDeleteHe shouldn't have to. But with Rock's big return already used up, Austin not interested in returning, and Cena as stale as old WWF ice cream bars sitting in a warehouse in Cleveland, Hogan's final run is one of the last angles they have that would be big enough to save the Network.
ReplyDeleteWe should have been having a Shield Vs Wyatts Survivor Series blowoff.
ReplyDeleteI was a freshman when that song came out. Between her and Liz Phair, I did a LOT of self-exploration in 1994.
ReplyDeleteHe said he wasn't going to do interviews while he's filming Red Neck Island because a) he can't people down to the ranch and b) he doesn't have time to do any research
ReplyDeleteThis whole dc event seems way to complicated.
ReplyDeleteSaying that speed force and question sound good.
He said weeks ago the show would be slow because he doesn't have time to podcast while actually getting paid to do Red Neck Island. He said he wouldn't do an interview until he was done filming because he can't get people down to the ranch.
ReplyDeleteThis has nothing to do with Grant Morrison. His book, Multiversity, is a completely different clusterfuck than this clusterfuck.
ReplyDeleteI need a fucking car. My sisters hotboxed before driving and we spent an hour circling Disneyland without going in because they kept going down the wrong streets. Theyre laughing like its the funniest thing, but really, just shut up and get there.
ReplyDeleteSurprised he took ten pages, doesn't he *deserve* to be head of Phase 3?
ReplyDeleteBrainiac has been bottling realities from across the multiverse, which is leading to a number of different versions of some characters converging and ultimately fighting for survival. I'm looking forward to seeing what some of the other books that will be part of the storyline end up being.
ReplyDeleteWhy stop there? Perhaps Bruno could wrestle? How about Lou Thesz? He's dead? Could we exhume the body?
ReplyDeleteHe is, although he's currently being brought back through the "Robin Rises" storyline.
ReplyDeleteThat's the weird thing about people on vacation: They can nearly kill you in a head-on-collision because they're not paying attention, and it's somehow *hilarious* to them.
ReplyDeleteNo it wouldn't. Holy shit man, you're living in a fantasy world. Crippled old Hulk Hogan, who is less over than he's ever been in his career, doesn't mean jackshit today. It wouldn't "save the Network" it would just make the entire company look even more like desperate goofs.
ReplyDeleteYour "they should have had Daniel Bryan lose at Wrestlemania 31 and Hulk Hogan wins the belt" scenario is probably, without hyperbole, the dumbest thing that's ever been written on the internet. There's zero defense of that.
Hulk Hogan in 2014 doesn't mean jackshit to mainstream media, and he means less than ever to current pro wrestling fans. Holy fucking shit with this nonsense.
*shakes head*. Frickin' comics, man.
ReplyDeleteWell bruno doesn't give Michael Xavier a giant boner, so obviously that's not as brilliant of an idea.
ReplyDeleteIs it? I'll admit I'm at a low ebb with new books at this point. I'm down to like 4 books a week at this point and one is batman eternal every week.
ReplyDeleteHogan's appearances on RAW haven't done anything for the ratings, and they're usually advertised in advance.
ReplyDeleteNo but Hulk Hogan as champion would draw tons of mainstream press and draw back in generations of fans, you see. UGGGHHHH what the fuck, right?
ReplyDeleteBut if they put the title on Hulk Hogan, then every major news and entertainment outlet would fall over themselves covering it (because Hulk Hogan in 2014 is a very big celebrity) and THEN all the Hulkamaniacs would be aware that he's back, and happily become paying customers again.
ReplyDeleteMy attempt at trying to decipher this retarded line of thinking.
Yeah, while they're both dealing with the Multiverse, I haven't read anything connecting the Morrison miniseries with this event, unless they include some of the realities Morrison wrote about within the event. Morrison hasn't been announced as participating in this at all, which they would normally herald pretty hard.
ReplyDelete"Yeah, the WM9 ending is a really good option."
ReplyDeleteYou realize that wasn't even a good option for WrestleMania 9, right?
You're right. Besides, if the ROCK couldn't draw them in when he had the belt, Hogan's not doing it either.
ReplyDeleteBut if Hulk Hogan during his "match" and I have to put that in quotes because I highly doubt it would resemble anything close a wrestling match we know today, breaks his hip or suffers a serious injury, that wouldn't be good publicity....(who am I kidding, to Vince, any PR is good PR).
ReplyDeleteI think its that, added to futures end, that earth 2 weekly event, the normal books stories, that new blood moon one...
ReplyDeleteToo big! Marvel's ones are a bit clearer so far!
The chance of Hogan being crippled/killed in the ring would tempt me, but still no buys.
ReplyDeleteHogan/Angle, winner is the one who isn't crippled/seriously injured at the end.
ReplyDeleteYou really think their paying audience would have been happy to see Daniel Bryan do "Go get 'em, Hulk" in the main event of Wrestlemania 31?
ReplyDeleteHulk Hogan would have been more hated than he was in his entire NWO run and people would have absolutely tuned out WWE in disgust.
No, I didn't think that they should have had Bryan lose at Mania 30 (not 31). Bryan was the perfect way to end the show. I only brought that option up if they were intent on keeping the title off of Bryan which, face it, seemed to be WWE's game plan for the last half of 2013 and the first two months of 2014. Hogan as champion in 2014 makes much more sense than Triple H as champion in 2014.
ReplyDeleteHulk Hogan is a huge mainstream media name. He was in a Super Bowl commercial earlier this year in front of one of the largest TV audiences ever. He appears on the Today Show. WWE counts on him to do promo work for the company. To a lot of people Hulk Hogan is pro wrestling.
Since the WWE Network is almost entirely sold on nostalgia, wouldn't you use your company's most nostalgic name to sell it in the most visible way possible?
That's just inappropriate.
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY. The media completely ignored it when The Rock was champ in 2013, and he's a billion times bigger star than Hulk Hogan is today.
ReplyDeleteHogan with the belt gets a few "laugh at WWF" jokes on Tosh or The Soup at BEST, and that's it. MichaelXavier is fucking crazy.
I don't think anyone ever intended for Damian to stay dead.
ReplyDeleteCan you stop this gimmick?
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteWally West Forever! Barry Allen can go back to being dead! No one missed you but Geoff Johns, you mopey turd!
But Hogan can't physically wrestle anymore. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteFuture's End and World's end are all leading into this book, which is actually what was thought to be the Blood Moon book.
ReplyDeleteI actually see your point, the problem is Hogan is such a risk because he's old and crippled, I can't see why the WWE would do that. And if it was Hogan beating Brock Lesnar, it would look even more ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me?
ReplyDeleteWrestleMania 28 did the largest number of buys in wrestling history. Mania 27 and 29 both did over a million buys. It's beyond stupid to say that Rock's return didn't draw fans in.
Cliff Clavin from Cheers was also in that commecial, should they give the WWE title to him? Hogan wasn't in that commercial b/c he's relevant or cool, it was an 80's nostalgia ad for Radio Shack. He wasn't even the star of the damn thing, like that Snickers ad that got Betty White the SNL hosting gig.
ReplyDeleteThe Rock was a huge draw
ReplyDeleteOne night at a time. Rock being back did nothing for the long term.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit, the current roster is terrible.
ReplyDeleteThat's not really true either.
ReplyDeleteI love that the books seem to have taken former writers to take on their old characters. Rucka on Question/Rene Montoya, Jurgens on Superman, Bedard on Speed Force, etc.
ReplyDeleteThey need to put hogan in something meaningful. Wcw always threw something together for new veterans; hogan is being wasted as a walking billboard and he's lost any meaning from it.
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying, there's a large body of dead veteran wrestlers who we could dig up to fill WM cards for decades. Buddy Rogers, Ed "Strangler" Lewis, Abraham Lincoln, Macho Man. I mean, who are you going to cheer? John Cena, or a zombie?
ReplyDeleteIt's on Ambrose to keep on working hard in the ring, gain fan support and make it so WWE is forced to push him through.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't know if he's a diamond in the rough. I think when the Shield came up, most smarks knew that he was the real deal through his indy and FCW work. The problem is that Seth is a better worker and Reigns has a better look so even during the Shield days, Dean didn't shine as much as the other two.
I think of all genres, rock got hit the hardest by the loudness wars. Rock's greatest strength was always in dynamics (Nirvana alone proves that, to go back to them - their use of the loud-quiet-loud technique was what immediately separated them from the hair metal scene). But the trend of equalizing everything in production turned rock albums to mush. Most current rock albums, you can hear the singer, and an indeterminate blur of other instruments beneath. Hip-hop doesn't have this problem, because the beat is always bass-heavy and easy to isolate, and as long as you've got that and the vocals, you've got a song.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Hogan's "appearances" on RAW amount to him showing up to shill something. He needs a role to sink his teeth into.
ReplyDeleteHe was in a superbowl commercial as a symbol of washed up 80s relics, with Alf and slinkies and shit. Don't pretend like he was in it because he's such a big mainstream star.
ReplyDeleteAll the stuff you mentioned is exactly what Hulk Hogan SHOULD be doing. PR work that WWE props him up to do. He's absolutely not a big star anymore and putting the belt on him would mean jackshit to actual media outlets. Christ, you think the media knows the difference between "WWE Champion" and "Host of Wrestlemania"? They didn't bite or care that Hogan hosted Mania, and they wouldn't care if he was champion. The only people who WOULD care are teh current audience who would hate the move and be turned off by it.
"Since the WWE Network is almost entirely sold on nostalgia, wouldn't you
use your company's most nostalgic name to sell it in the most visible
way possible?" This statement doesn't mean anything, buddy. Again, Hogan as champion doesn't increase any visibility. Do you really think there are millions of lapsed fans out there who don't know about the Network, but then the media is gonna be all about Hulk Hogan as champion and they'll suddenly learn about the Network and decide they now want to pay $10 a month to watch old Hulk Hogan matches? That's ridiculous on every level. Network awareness isn't the problem, it's that the customers don't want to pay $10 for A) old matches and B) A modern product that they don't enjoy.
Again, your big argument is that the media is gonna be all over a Hulk Hogan title win and that'll make fans realize they actually want to subscribe to see old matches. That's so ridiculous.
I know you're kidding, but... it's basically a free show, and I'd eat that shit up.
ReplyDeleteNope, none of them getting Michael Xavier hard like the Hulk does.
ReplyDeleteBut he can't wrestle.
ReplyDeleteWhat you need to do is give me a rematch for the C+ title! I'm so sick of jobbing to your Banzai Drop!
ReplyDeleteC'mon, Bayless...give me ONE...MORE...MATCH!
I didn't know you were his doctor.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if Rock helped regular WWE programming long term much, but I think he helped make Wrestlemania increase its big event feel.
ReplyDeleteHogan/ Big Show. Just redo the WM3 match and have cole telling us how we need to see how big the big show's hands are live and in person. That's where the money is
ReplyDeleteAlso didn't help his case that Cornette is able to have two great podcasts per week while Austin can't even make one per week tolerable.
ReplyDeleteHe can't wrestle anymore. I admire your commitment to trolling
ReplyDeleteHuh? Why would WWE use Hogan to do some meaningless physical altercation when they have yet to cook up a good enough angle for him?
ReplyDeleteThey're keeping him strong and saving the good stuff for Rusev and/or Cena. No need to pull a Flair and get beat up all the time and blade and/or cry to get an angle over.
Having a different opinion isn't a "gimmick"
ReplyDeleteYour opinion isn't rooted in reality.
ReplyDeleteMetroid and Zelda are way too low, and Mario 3 should have been #1.
ReplyDeleteReality? Three days ago I wouldn't have thought a cat hosting RAW was reality.
ReplyDeleteNew Wally West is literally just a copyright renewal.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely nothing to do with the real Wally, i've got no problem with diversity but this new character bares no resemblance to the real former Flash.
This event sounds pretty awful to be honest, and these mostly B & C list creative teams don't do much to excite me.
A cat can look grumpy. Hogan physically can't bump
ReplyDeleteAmbrose is closest we have to an 80s Roddy Piper is years. That guy can promo and work effectively as a face or heel with a jagged edge. Rollins is a dick on the mic and that is awesome. But Ambrose brings something different and different is good these days.
ReplyDeleteBecause he's Hulk Hogan and they could pop a crowd or a rating by having someone run into a fist and do the routine. You're so delusional. I keep telling myself I won't circle back into this argument since you refuse to accept reality but I almost feel compelled to correct the record so either don't start to believe your idiotic bullshit.
ReplyDeleteIt is, but in a weird way, I admire his determination to stick to this garbage.
ReplyDelete2006 was 8 years ago, and Hogan was still only a few years removed from being one of the main stars of the wrestling boom. That's a HUGE DIFFERENCE between 2014. Do you understand that or no?
ReplyDeleteMiz didn't draw any mainstream attention. He got on whatever talk shows WWE books its stars on before a PPV. Come on. And again, you're discounting that the mainstream media gave zero shits about Hogan hosting Mania 30, and they gave zero shits about The Rock (such a bigger mainstream star than Hulk right now it's not even close) having the title a few years ago. Which is to say that the media doesn't care about wrestling right now, and they don't care about Hulk Hogan in 2014.
Again, your whole argument comes down to ridiculous leaps that are obviously false. The media won't care about Hogan winning teh wrestling title. Old fans aren't unaware that they can pay for old Hulk Hogan matches--- they just already are doing so or don't want to.
But yes, live in a fantasy world where a Hulk Hogan title win gets massive media attention and then all these millions of Hulkamaniacs living ina cave finally learn about teh Network and decide they wanna subscribe to watch old Hulk Hogan matches.
Again, I didn't know you were Hogan's doctor.
ReplyDeleteHogan has been openly talking about a comeback and doing one more match for a while now. That doesn't sound like a guy who can't bump.
It sounds like a guy who is broke as a joke and would risk getting paralyzed cause he needs the cash.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how much it cost for the Superfan to appear on the show every week?
ReplyDeleteHogan also said he was almost in Metallica and he was going to star in The Wrestler
ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't realize he was dead. That's sad. Still though, bring back the dorky gimmick match. Have to admit, when the undertaker showed the flag on his jacket and said "let freedom ring and foreign fanatics....rest in peace!" I marked out.
ReplyDeleteHogan shouldn't have been wrestling in 1998, much less 2015.
ReplyDeleteYou do realize that everyone here thinks you're a fucking idiot when you bring this up, right?
ReplyDeleteBang! Exactly right. Back in the day, guitarists, bassists and drummers would receive accolades for their individual talents. Now, it's just play, no fancy stuff, the song is not about you. Also, especially in rap music, why bother learning an instrument when you can sample an old song and write around that?
ReplyDeleteIf the media didn't care about Hogan in 2014, what is he doing on the Today Show? What is he doing in Super Bowl commercials?
ReplyDeleteIf fans don't care about Hogan, why is his merchandise still in the Top 10?
If the media didn't care about Miz's title win, why was it featured on ESPN?
http://espn.go.com/espn/page2/index?id=5846366 (Among other outlets)
If fans/media didn't care about The Rocks' comeback, why was Mania 28 the most bought WrestleMania in history in clearly an overall down time for the business? Why did Mania 27 and 29 also do huge numbers?
There are a lot of facts that you ignore because you can't seem to grasp the idea that a brief Hogan title run could very well save the Network.
I've heard he's actually a paid employee of WWE. He starts appropriate chants during dead matches
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame you have to resort to gay jokes.
ReplyDeleteSo the CM Punk chants are all him? I knew it was a desperate attempt to get him to come back.
ReplyDeleteThere have been a few people here and there who agree with me, but otherwise I don't care what anonymous people on a wrestling board think about my opinions.
ReplyDeleteI mean, do you think I'm Meekin or something?
Vince - "You're right! Book the NXT guys in an elimination bra & panties match!"
ReplyDeleteHogan is a fucking geriatric, saggy old sad man with the face of a basset hound and the skin of a hotdog. He's not wrestling in 2014. That would be worse than Bret Hart wrestling now.
ReplyDeleteCome on. What about that Hogan Andre rematch?
ReplyDeleteDude's on vacation, and you're trying to talk to him about work!
ReplyDeleteThey are on a high,
ReplyDeleteWorst_In_The_World is having another meltdown against that "Hogan should be champion" guy in the Cena vs. Rusev thread.
ReplyDeleteIt's like reading a verbal Cripple Fight.
Bret could put together a better match now than Hogan could.
ReplyDeleteSo while I watch NOC 2008 I was just thinking of my superfan power rankings:
ReplyDelete9.Red Hat Guy
Fuck him and his douche bag dress style. Also he loses points for only going to WWE shows after the company started to suck.
8. Sign Guy
I was never a big fan. He seems like a prick and I've read on boards that he has a shitty car full of iced tea and cereal so that creeps me out too. Plus his signs sucked.
7. Black Anti Cena guy
Jesus Christ, talk about a one trick pony. Plus where has he been? Hardly a super fan imo. I would have put him last but I didn't want to be racist.
6. Hogan look a like guy
My best memory of this guy is seeing how sad he was at Survivor Series 1991 after Hogan jobbed to taker. Kind of a tool but a true Hogan fan, he's pushing my top 5.
5. Blacktop Bully
Yes it was just Barry Darsow has a plant and it was all fake and he's not really a superfan, but if he was really a big wcw fan in 1994 acting all crazy at WCW shows to the point where he fought Dustin in a moving truck, that would have been good enough to be #1. So I'll just put him here
4. Dreads guy from ECW and his crazy girlfriend
Definitely the prototypical freak show ECW fan. He looked like a serial killers and he looked like he had horrible BO. Still it was funny to see him in the crowd at those shows.
3. Faith No More Guy
Tried and true WWF fan and ECW fan. He was at all the shows for over a decade, cultivated a stand out look and has earned many nicknames. I consider him one of the real legends of the Super fans.
2. Pink Windbreaker Guy
Saw him at a lot of wcw shows so you know he's a wrestling fan. He brought his wife with him and even got her to wear a signature windbreaker, and he golf clapped for the wrestlers, classing the show up.
1. Vladamir
Greatest superfan of all time and Sid celebrated with him after winning the belt from Shawn at MSG and piper pulled him in the ring for a piper pit back in the 80's. Great fan, big spots, what more can you ask for?
Vladamir
Pink windbreaker
Faith no more guy
Dreads
Blacktop Bully
No, the generic stuff like chanting for the Usos. I don't know, he was in a USA Network characters welcome spot for a while and appeared on Deal or No Deal with Cena, Edge & Orton cheering him on...he's not just a random dude who goes to a lot of shows.
ReplyDeleteRetarded people have opinions too you know. That doesn't make them not retarded.
ReplyDeleteI'll check that out as soon as I'm done here, thanks for the update,
ReplyDeleteThere was a guy that appeared at MSG in the eighties. He was black with reddish hair and glasses. I always wondered if he was a plant.
ReplyDeleteI guess this means that Punk is ok with his final moments being that he was slammed through a table,
ReplyDeleteVlad is the man and ageless. Wish he was on boards to give some insight
ReplyDeleteAnd his finisher doesn't involve his fucking legs exploding into a fine red mist if he does it at this age.
ReplyDeleteThe... Same way they explained it when he faced Wyatt last year, more or less?
ReplyDeleteTalking about Vladimir? He's legit
ReplyDeleteHogan doesn't have to do the legdrop. He hasn't been doing the legdrop since the Hulkamania Australia tour.
ReplyDeleteLol @ Ric Flair.
ReplyDeleteBah! A true fighting champion doesn't go on vacay!
ReplyDelete!!!! The story can be Cena's afraid Rusev is gonna turn he WWE Universe into a bunch of Putin lovin' commies!
ReplyDeleteHe sucks. .. totally corporate sponsored. But he lost his wife years ago so I let him be
ReplyDeleteHogan is also a pathological liar.
ReplyDeleteso he is on WWE payroll?
ReplyDeleteyou forgot ROH's Green Lantern Guy
ReplyDeleteNancy Sullivan Benoit was a superfan as well. She was Rick Steiner's #1 fan.
ReplyDeleteThe "main event" below, in short form.
ReplyDeleteOne guy thinks Hulk Hogan should be WWE champ. Others disagree vehemently. I just wish to see Hogan die/be crippled in the ring in such a scenario, for multiple reasons.
Then what's he gonna do? Throw his walker at him?
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming hrs comped. I can't verify that but it appears that way
ReplyDeleteAXE BOMBER!!!!!!!!! That was his finisher in Japan.
ReplyDelete... In Japan. Which 1% of WWE fans are aware of.
ReplyDeleteWhere would the Rosatti Sisters fall on this list? Or the Stunt Granny?
ReplyDeletedude, let the SuperBowl commerical go. It was just 80's nostalgia. The fucking Noid may have been in there. It was not indicative of Hogan being important. He's not being used to sell cars or computers or even beer
ReplyDeleteHaha awesome. I met them in white plains many times. Very nice
ReplyDeleteThe Rosatti Sisters weren't at the arenas on a regular basis, iirc.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Blacktop Bully was?
ReplyDelete:)
I don't consider them to be superfans
ReplyDeleteNortheast only
ReplyDeleteI wonder why he never used that in the US. It would have saved his back.
ReplyDeleteI agree hogan is being wasted by being just a 5 minute shill but he should not be a champion or competing in a singles match
ReplyDeleteHe was at all the big shows for months heckling faces.
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to figure out the Michael Hayes reference.
ReplyDeleteI agree: how is WWE going to get to 2.5 hours (let alone 3 AND a pre-show with a match)? The main event and (theoretical) tag match (could be another elimination) would have to go more than 90 minutes combined. Wyatt-Ambrose probably won't go much more than 20 (especially the first match of a feud), and the Divas generally don't go more than 20 (counting intros and what not). I was a little surprised Rusev was added (I know the US title match was supposed to be on the PPV before moving it to the post-Raw Network special),
ReplyDeleteMaybe some Vince segments backstage could fill up some time, as could Brock appearing at the end of the show to beat down Cena('s team). A Lana promo?
There's a fun question:
ReplyDelete"What finishers would have been better for Hulk than the Big Boot/Legdrop?"
Axe Bomber and a good ole Bear Hug are my top two... anybody else?
So he didn't slam the 1200 lbs stinky wart-infested Giant in front of 1.2 billion people in the Silverdome?
ReplyDeleteThe next title shot goes to the guy who greases Bayless's hand the most. Everybody has a price HAHAHAHAHA
ReplyDeleteNot enough zeroes in the Giant's weight.
ReplyDeletePowerslam.
ReplyDeleteFingerpoke of Doom.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but at this point I think you have to use exponents.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that I got out of this thread is that Michael Xavier vs Worst in the World is our feud for the day.
ReplyDeleteComic talk and no mention of new comic author Phil Brooks
ReplyDeletehttp://marvel.com/news/comics/23636/welcome_to_marvel_cm_punk_-_hope_you_survive_the_experience
I'm surprised this didn't get its own thread
It was part of the daily update
ReplyDeleteGreases his hand the most?
ReplyDeleteGrease.
What you're saying is, someone needs to dress up as Olivia Fig Newton John and perform "Physical" for him.
Plus Vladamir is still number 1 in my superfan power poll.
ReplyDeleteThat's super fan Vladimir. He started then but was still super fanning into the early 00's at least.
ReplyDeleteI read that update everyday except this one.
ReplyDeletesounds about right
Keep up the good work Bayless. You truly are the best newsman in the Blog O' Doom Business
"WWE Heavily Edited Crowd Noise on Last Night's RAW"
ReplyDeleteWelcome to WCW!
"I will buy the shit out of Speed Force merch, though. I loves me some Xavier Woods"
ReplyDeleteFTFY
I'd go up to him and call him Phil and when he gets pissed, defend it as saying I know him from his story
ReplyDeleteHogan is where Flair was a few years ago. He does some novelty nostalgia stuff mainstream, and is trying to latch on to anyone who will give him $$$ for his act. He's not significantly over anymore, and if he could have been working matches, he would have been for a while now.
ReplyDeleteHe keeps saying in interviews that his biggest regret in wrestling is that he used the legdrop as his finisher instead of the Axe Bomber or the sleeper.
ReplyDeleteGET OFF MY LAWN
ReplyDeleteI never intended to be in a Feud of the Day. It's quite an honor!
ReplyDeleteHonesty is his only excuse
ReplyDeletehttps://rocknsportstore.com/shop/images/products/large_158_metallica1-b.jpg
Justice League 3000 bringing back pre 52 Beetle and Booster is pretty much the only thing that's interesting me at the minute.
ReplyDeleteYep.. that's why I quit.. As much as I loved reading them, it was just way too much. That also may have been the year I found a porn shop and started my VHS collection... Coincidence.. Hmmm
ReplyDeleteI was hoping for a Midcard SS match and an NXT SS match like Zayn, Neville, Itami, Balor, and Kalisto (Sin Cara can be "hurt" or something) vs Breeze, Vaudvillains, Ascension or something.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of comics.. This is pretty much the dumbest idea ever..
ReplyDeletehttp://geektyrant.com/news/spider-mans-aunt-may-to-get-her-own-spin-off-film
Giving Aunt May a spinoff film?? Sony and Fox should be banned from making anymore Marvel movies.
"He's still in the top 10 merchandise sellers since he came back earlier this year."
ReplyDeleteBecause nostalgia sells. they are buying merch for 80's Hogan, not the washed up old man you want to put in the ring.
Yeah, I'd love an NXT SS match. It'd be better than anything else on the card.
ReplyDeleteJohns has done a lot of good things but I hate his mentality on wanting to bring back all the characters from his youth. Hal was fine, but Barry did not need to come back.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone ever intended for anyone to stay dead.
ReplyDeleteI like to imagine you're as old as your profile pic, and that you have some form of dementia
ReplyDeleteThe hogan should be champ posts is what happens when you don't take your meds and run away from the home
Amen to that. Dude basically ruined Batman for me.
ReplyDeleteI hate red hat guy
ReplyDeleteThe only DC stuff I'm left with on my pull list are Batman and Detective and I am really close to dropping both. Snyder's run on Batman started of so good, but I did not like Zero Year at all.
ReplyDeleteI thought "crazy sign guy" and "red hat guy" were the same guy
ReplyDeleteThey called this guy crazy sign guy when it aired
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-f2psyj0CY
Jushin Liger guy didn't miss a taping when they were based in Providence
ReplyDeleteIt's mostly everyone against Michael Xavier. His gimmick is overplayed at this point.
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty funny. People are screeching at how stupid he is and he just calmly continues on with his steadfast, ridiculous belief.
ReplyDeleteRiding Splash Mountain with the dude from Everclear. C LIST LIVING THE GIMMICK
ReplyDeleteIf anything I admire his persistence.
