I know what you mean. When the brand split meant watching it the only way I normally got to see some of my favorites, Smackdown was decent enough hungover Saturday or Sunday morning viewing even though I'd already read the recap. But even then, I'd just skim through it and watch bits and pieces because I'll have already read the recap here.
Raw/Smackdown are similar to sporting events to me in the specific sense of immediacy. I can put off Sons of Anarchy or South Park for a night, but Raw or Smackdown, if I don't watch it that night, it just isn't getting watched.
So much for Del Rio ever coming back to WWE. http://uproxx.com/prowrestling/2014/11/alberto-del-rio-claims-wwes-issues-with-racism-extend-all-the-way-up-to-the-king-of-kings/
And so it begins as I've said all along: https://twitter.com/LanaWWE/status/530080502959841280
Lana must've let it slip that Hogan is going to win the WWE World Title and Rusev will challenge him for it. I like that scenario -- really brings back the classic Hogan storyline.
They need the TV time for money purposes and SD was still performing near the top of the Friday cable ratings, which I assume makes NBCUniversal (which owns SyFy along with USA) happy as well
I did chuckle at the bit of HHH calling Ricardo Bumblebee in reference to Bumblebee Man, not because it's funny, but because Hunter doesn't strike me as a guy who watches the Simpsons. Ay ay ay, no es bueno!
I don't watch a single show on Thursday nights nowadays at least until Parks & Rec and or Community make their returns, so this news is good in that regard. Make it a great one hour show and i'd really be excited because clearly the WWE doesn't give a crap about putting on a proper 2 hour Smackdown anymore. On the negative side only 3 days after those endless near 200 minute Raws? Gonna be tough to slough through most weeks.
I'd take Michael Hayes.
ReplyDeleteGuess it's just a different night for people not to watch wrestling on.
ReplyDeleteNow they'll get to be crushed by network ratings TWICE a week!

It's like they want to be beat by Football.
ReplyDeleteBut Smackdown is the highest rated episodic cable show whatever thing every week for the past 20 years!
ReplyDeleteI understand why WWE needs to keep the Raw deal with USA, but why Smackdown?
Right after the NFL season....a smart move.
ReplyDeleteShould be an interesting fall season though.
ReplyDeleteNothing like 5 hours of TV wrestling in 4 days for an ice cold product that makes WCW 99 look entertaining.

ReplyDeleteMan, they're just trying to compete with TNA.

You can't argue with history! Next week, Vince have to be talked out of creating a series of territories who all fight under one banner!
ReplyDeleteSo the Booker T storyline wasn't just Method acting, you're saying.
ReplyDeleteThat was confusing. All there was was a photo of Lana with half her boob out and a nuch of blurry stuff on the right side of the page.
ReplyDeleteIn theory this means there will be more SD viewers. Will they now have like angles 'n stuff?

ReplyDeleteWHY DONT YOU DO A LITTLE DANCE FOR ME, BOOKER?

Eh, I've always suspected as much. Especially with Hayes around.
ReplyDeleteI'm certainly not shocked, and on the matter of Hayes, fuck. Talk about an ongoing embarrassment.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere, there's an overzealous painter planning his revenge...
