Prepare for internet to blow up imminently…
Mike Johnson is reporting that Sting will make his debut at the Survivor Series. Makes sense with the release of the game and the 18 million fantasy Sting matches on YouTube right now under WWE’s channel, but I didn’t think it would ever ACTUALLY happen. So that should be pretty awesome if done right.
SEND IN THE BEES, YOU ARE ABOUT TO BE STUNG
ReplyDeleteThere has to be SOME reason they are giving away Survivor Series for free. This could be their last chance to hook people into paying for the Network.
ReplyDeleteFuck! Please let this actually happen. I'm hosting a party at my house for this ppv and my buddies and I will freak if Sting shows up.
ReplyDeleteDoes he go after the Authority?
ReplyDeleteMy pants will come off if Sting shows up
ReplyDeleteYES! The guy that filled the Vance Middle School gymnasium to 80% capacity will be the savior of the WWE!
ReplyDeleteOpening up for the little stinger?
ReplyDeleteGoing to be pretty obvious if they have the Bee Hive set dressing
ReplyDeleteYAY more nostalgia! Sting is good and all, but his time has passed. I bet he points the bat at Triple H to set up a Mania match because we know that's the Mania match everyone wants to see.
ReplyDeletePathetic.
ReplyDeleteI'd be 100% down for Sting vs HHH. We can get a nostalgia dream match and still feature the young guys in key matches.
ReplyDeleteYou're begging for a scorpion death drop.
ReplyDeleteCalling it: Sting/Hogan at Wrestlemania.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to avoid reading the spoiler and just be surprised but I forgot two things:
ReplyDelete1. The Blog of Doom has never been known for subtlety amongst it's commenters.
2. Someone would inevitably show up and post about it excitedly.
I was literally going to close out the browser and avoid the internet until SS when I saw the comment too.
Oh well, it was fun thinking Austin, Punk, or Bryan were gonna show up at SS(no idea why I thought Austin, just where my mind went)
Sting showing up could be cool but I doubt they are going to have him zip line down to the ring. Also there's the variable of if he has anything left to offer. Damn I wish I would have left immediately.
I hate when dirt sheets spoils shit like this. They only do for the hits.
ReplyDeleteOh, no. Not the bees. Arugh. They're in my eyes! My eyes! AHHHHHH!
ReplyDeleteA Starcade & Bound for Glory main event at Wrestlemania?! They better make this one for the strap.
ReplyDeleteEh talk about being a day late and dollar short...
ReplyDeleteDammit, they can keep Brock stuff under wraps but this shit gets leaked? I mean, I'm past the point of ever wanting to see Sting in a match, but it wouldve been a huge markout moment regardless had it been a legit surprise.
ReplyDeleteStill, the upside is that there will definitely be more eyeballs on Survivor Series than when it was just "LOL Cena is the only untouchable on his team"
Henry Winkler.....COVERED IN BEES
ReplyDeleteIn all fairness, TNA is so awful, Austin in his prime couldn't help them draw.
ReplyDeleteBig Sting fan here. He's the bee's knees!
ReplyDeleteBrock was more of a rumor, Cena entering the 2008 Rumble was a legit surprise.
ReplyDeleteI read that as Big Show fan for some reason.
ReplyDeleteRant about it being washed-up nostalgia if you want, but I had no intention whatsoever of tuning into the show up until today. Now I'm actually going to watch it.
ReplyDeleteI can't be bothered to give a fuck about Cena and his Rainbow Pals beating the generic authority bad guys (especially with that idiotic giveaway of a loss stipulation attached to the match), but I'll watch just to see Sting in a WWE ring. Hopefully with the awesome WCW crow theme.
IT BEGINS
ReplyDeleteI BE STING
I wasn't going to click on this, but I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to watch it live. I wouldn't be shocked if this was subtlety leaked by WWE. Could also be one of those 50/50 things where if it doesn't happen, Johnson can just say WWE changed there mind (which is very possible as they probably don't even have the main event finish decided yet).
ReplyDeleteSame. It worked, I'll probably tune into the latter half of the show.
ReplyDeleteBET I SING?
ReplyDeleteNOT THE BEES
ReplyDeleteI have always has a weird habit of singing wrestlers theme songs and making up lyrics. Sing along.
ReplyDelete"STING HERE COMES STING HERE COMES STING HE IS WALKING. STING HERE COMES STING IT'S THE STIIIINGEEER.
HE HAS A BAT HE WEARS BLACK AND HAS FACE PAINT. YEAH, IT IS STING HERE HE COMES."
It all comes full circle and Sting fast counts Cena's win over The Authority.
ReplyDeleteNo. He's the stinger.
ReplyDeleteNOR THE DOGS.
ReplyDeleteThat's a paddlin'.
ReplyDeleteMid way through the match, Triple H subs himself in for Seth Rollins just because. He and John Cena are the last two men remaining, when HHH hits a Pedigree and covers Cena for a legit (and rather slow) three count.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly, as The Authority celebrates, Sting walks out, bat in hand, and says "This isn't gonna happen again on my watch!" Sting restarts the match just because, Cena hits an AA, and Sting makes a quick count for Cena, sparking the biggest celebration since Luger beat Yokozuna at Summerslam.
Then Bret comes out, tries to stop it and has a stroke. As he's on the ground, Shawn comes out and puts him in the sharpshooter. Then Vince and Earl Hebner come out and ring a bell in his face. The crowd chants "bullshit" and Sting says "I AGREE WITH YOU. I AGREE WITH YOU."
ReplyDeleteId rather see HHH vs Sting instead of Sting vs Undertaker. Say what you want about HHH but his matches are entertaining...
ReplyDeleteNOR THE DOGS THAT SHOOT BEES FROM THEIR MOUTHES WHEN THEY BARK.
ReplyDeleteYou know... you'd think they'd try and do this back when there was a 6 month subscription thing...
ReplyDeleteI read that as Big Boss Man fan for some reason.
ReplyDeleteUnder wraps? Everyone was chanting for Brock long before his music hit.
ReplyDeleteThis is the same company that mocks WCW for giving away Hogan/Goldberg away for free every chance it gets...
ReplyDeleteThose that do not learn the mist... whatever...
ReplyDelete... watching some Eva Notty before bed.
...need Kwang to mist them again.
ReplyDeleteWrestlemania: The Icon vs 21-1!
ReplyDeleteUp up down down left right left right B A.
ReplyDelete*BOOM*
http://www.angelfire.com/mo2/bradspage/images/sting4.jpg
If... if I can just hear the theme while watching in HD... that will be enough for me.
ReplyDeleteSo what's his new WWE name gonna be?
ReplyDeleteHow about Jordan Hubbard?
Yapple Pie?
ReplyDeleteBorden Stevens.
ReplyDeleteYes I know who that is.
ReplyDeleteYes I am going to watch her too now.
Well, why else would they do it? Hits are how they make money.
ReplyDeleteMeltzer broke the Brock story WrestleMania weekend. Everyone was expecting him to do a run in on Rock/Cena and there were actually Brock chants during the match.
ReplyDeleteDick Trickle
ReplyDeleteEveryone should be a Big Boss Man fan.
ReplyDeleteHm, how can Sting get Cena more over?
ReplyDeleteCommissioner Sting.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Is he coming back too?
ReplyDeleteThey make money? Thought they did it for the love if the business.
ReplyDeleteWill you save him some beer?
ReplyDeleteBling
ReplyDelete'Stink, you're wrongk!'
ReplyDeleteNot gonna lie, never was a huge WCW fan but Crow Sting was so awesome and honestly if the lights go out, he walks out with bat in hand and just lays The Authority to waste that'd be amazing.
ReplyDeleteSure, washed up legend hogging spotlight but it's gonna happen anyways and seeing Sting in WWE would be special so I'm not gonna get in a huff about it.
Is anyone a little worried we'll get more 'Steve Borden' than 'Sting'? ie. Talking lots, just being any other guy.
ReplyDeleteI want dark, baseball bat, bit of silent treatment until closer to WM etc.
And where do we reckon this is heading (not headED, you wacky Americans - tenses) for Mania?
ReplyDeleteHim vs. Taker - First time, last time?
Could bill it as their final ever matches. That's a draw right there.
Sadly, no, they do it for the money. Even Scott makes enough for a bit of beer money to run this site.
ReplyDeleteYou actually forgot three things. 3. Summerslam= SS Survivor Series=Sur Ser
ReplyDeleteThe real spoiler would be telling us that Sting actually got in shape for the match.
ReplyDeleteGoddammit these assholes convinced me to watch.
ReplyDeleteClassic WWE. Making it hard on me and having two double S PPV. Assholes!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right. But..... STING making a run in isn't you're average run in. Even the marks would love that something different is happening
ReplyDeleteIs this different from Wrestlemania, Summerslam, every raw leading upto Wrestlemania, the Raw immediately after Wrestlemania, and every other show that Sting has been rumoured to appear on?
ReplyDeleteThe other question is why should we care? This is a guy who hasn't been in a major wrestling company for 13 years, whose prime was 20 years or more ago. Who the vast majority of fans today don't recognise and who we already know has some kind of legends contract with WWE.
So again i'll ask, why should we care?
Because the man almost filled a middle school gym once. Just think what he could do for WWE!
ReplyDeleteBreaking!: old man to put on clown makeup, trench coat this Sunday
ReplyDeleteIt's not my problem if you can't get up for Sting.
ReplyDeleteSpoiler: #TeamCenalosesbutwinsintheendLOL
ReplyDeleteIt's freaking STING! If you can name something more exciting, enlighten us.
ReplyDeleteAs I said before, as long as he does his entrance.
ReplyDeleteAs in, landing safely and not falling to death.
Irony considering WWE is hoping the WCW guy saves the Network.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one that wanted Sting to debut at Royal Rumble? Have the Undertaker in the ring announcing his retirement and then Sting comes in and silently points the bat at the WM sign...
ReplyDeleteNo but it is WWE's problem is they waste time/money on someone who is just another ex-wrestler no different to todays audience than every other legend on the payroll.
ReplyDeleteI don't doubt he used to be a great wrestler and that he should be in HOF. But the idea that he is relevant today is laughable.
Those poor dogs!
ReplyDeleteBeve Stordan.
ReplyDeleteNOT THE BEES!
ReplyDeleteStunk Chestman
ReplyDeleteEveryone is exited now, but you'll all be bitching at the end of Raw when Sgmtubg is the "authority figure."
ReplyDeleteAlso I don't get why thru don't do multiple elimination matches anymore? Get some more mid card guys involved in the main event. Cena and HHH making pitches to get Sami Zayn on their team would have been a great way for him to debut and made him an instant start.
ReplyDeleteWell, if he does, it will certainly be a bigger story than Sting's debut.
ReplyDeleteYeah, because Sami Zayn has a proven ability to win in clutch situations.
ReplyDeleteI'd call this a threadjack...but fuck it, Sting's an old fossil anyway......http://deadspin.com/espn-suspends-keith-law-from-twitter-for-defending-evol-1661836868 ESPN...yeesh
ReplyDeleteOf course we've exited, it's an old thread.
ReplyDeletePaint drying?
ReplyDeleteHe does this/he does that....
ReplyDeleteSheriff Sting
ReplyDeleteSmark rule 32: shoehorning their favorite wrestlers into an angle takes precedence over real world logic
ReplyDeleteHornswoggle has been part of bigger drawing PPV matches in the past decade than Sting.
ReplyDeleteHornswoggle has been in bigger movies in the last decade than Sting
Hornswoggle has been on tv to a larger audience in the last decade than Sting
Hornswoggle is in better physical condition than Sting
Basically for the current, young or casual fans Hornswoggle > Sting, for those interested in Wrestling History Sting > Hornswoggle. Which group do you think is bigger?
Sting
ReplyDeleteYes because the career of four miscarders being on the line really makes the result obvious.
ReplyDeleteYeah I'll pass. Your reviews are shit so I xant see this being any better.
ReplyDeleteSting is 55. Would we have been marking out like this if Jack Brisco were rumored to be coming in during the Attitude Era?
ReplyDeleteif he survived it would be a good way to end that particular part of his character. Problem is why would Cena make pitches for him? The only way to make it work is if somone dropped out and he volunteered, thus making the entire rest of the face locker room look bad for not being willing to step up.
ReplyDeletestay classy
ReplyDeleteYou have to be kidding me right? My stepkids are 11 years old and their wrestling knowledge begins around 2009 and even they know who Sting is and recognize that he is a big deal.
ReplyDeleteDifference is that era had interesting guys and stories we were vested in. Speaks volumes that ppl are genuinely intrigued to see a 55 yr old guy that's been washed up for over a decade.
ReplyDeleteMost people aren't interested, don't mistake a handful of IWC members who post repeatedly for being able to speak for the millions of WWE fans worldwide.
ReplyDeleteI don't doubt that with the WWE hype machine behind it, they can make the Sting retirement tour a big thing, but they could use the same time/money to use the hype machine for a superstar with a future and create a new legend not a old has been.
But doctor, Sting is Pagliacci!
ReplyDeleteI saw a new episode up there last night, but when I went to watch it, it was gone. Weird.
ReplyDeleteSting vs HHH at Wrestlemania 31? I guess the recent WCW comments from HHH will make sense now.
ReplyDeleteI read that as Big Bully Buswick for some Meekin.
ReplyDeleteHey, that was sure a dick thing to say!
ReplyDeleteWho else is Sting going to face? Xavier Woods? Jay Uso? This isn't a 'let's get a young guy over' moment. That can come after.
ReplyDeleteShould just be HHH wrestling every match. Sting, Rock, Cena, a returning Bryan, get Punk his ME. All HHH, all the time.
ReplyDeleteMolester of Boys Rule 1: Never make a point, just insult everyone else.
ReplyDeleteAt one point in the Attitude Era Jack's less famous brother was probably more over than half the WCW roster.
ReplyDeleteMan, I was just watching a Betamax recording.
ReplyDeleteYou remember Betamax? It hung around for a long time, but was only really relevant for a very short period years and years ago?
Sting is a much bigger star than Jack Brisco and you know it.
ReplyDeleteBetamax are still being sold in yard sales. They're still relevant Dammit!
ReplyDeleteSuperior quality, but they could only be an hour long, right? That's no good.
ReplyDeleteAll you proved is that you don't know a damned thing about Jack Brisco.
ReplyDeleteThe format had its fans, to be sure, but its ultimate legacy is total failure.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much RAW nowadays.
ReplyDeleteJack Brisco didn't wear cool face paint
ReplyDeletenot at Brisco's peak. Guy was NWA champion for over a year. He was a big deal
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about? I rented Wrestlemania III on Beta!
ReplyDeleteSadly. For all the "Can't wait til HHH runs the show" talk, he's done a good job of having 5-10 guys you'd like to see wrestle HHH. Maybe we're all inside a HHH inception
ReplyDeleteRoxannneeeeeeeee...
ReplyDeleteThe 12/18 one was up on Wednesday, wouldn't play for anyone, and got pulled a day later. This is a REALLY poorly run back-end at the moment.
ReplyDeleteDo the really need to pay a premium for the real Sting?
ReplyDeleteJeff Farmer is younger, and can do the job just as well.
I agree with the suspension. The faction of HHH, orton, Batista and flair wasn't THAT good.
ReplyDeleteHmm. I thought that was why the format failed. If not then I must concede I have no clue.
ReplyDeleteI read that WWE is doing this to bring in new subscribers. How exactly does this do that?
ReplyDeleteYou see it's a free show, so no one has to subscribe. But then he'll probably disappear for for 2-3 months, like the champ, what's-his-name. But then he'll come back for the one show everyone usually buys anywayyyyyyy.
ReplyDelete(Can I be hired by the WWE yet?)
...that was my alternative threadjack/not a threadjack play
ReplyDeleteKung Fu Action Lobster Sting or we riot!
ReplyDeleteBetamax failed because porn adotped VHS. Whatever porn adopts, so goes the world.
ReplyDeleteSo THAT'S what we blame found footage movies on
ReplyDeleteI wish Bryan was around. Would have been cool for him to recruit NXT guys. "2014 has been my year, now I want to see young guys get their shot" sort of deal
ReplyDeleteFine, replace Sami Zayn with whatever guy from NXT you want. It's still a good story that makes a star: young guy comes in, impresses both Cena and HHH, who wants him on their team. Young guy agrees to join the babyface team, does well but doesn't necessarily win, BOOM new star.
ReplyDeleteAnd DOLPH ZIGGLER HAS?
ReplyDeleteI have Scarface on Betamax and that's only one tape.
ReplyDeleteAren't you all gonna feel silly when Sting shows up as the special musical guest.
ReplyDeleteYeah it is.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand I can finally start watching something on my PS3, stop it, and continue where I left off on my Apple TV. And that only took them 8 months!
And by the way, this is the kind of attitude the bookers (sorry, WRITERS) have that never create new stars.
ReplyDelete"The format had its fans, to be sure, but its ultimate legacy is total failure."
ReplyDeleteYou could say the same thing about WCW, which is why most fans don't give a shit about Sting
You'd do it before the teams were fully formed. Like in the beginning when Cena and HHH were looking for team members, have Zyan wrestle on Raw and impress them both, and have them both make pitches for him to join their team.
ReplyDeleteIt's about creating a new star.
He was a champion when he joined the team.
ReplyDeleteQuick question: Did the authority pick Cena's team for him? I mean, everyone on that team has had a feud with Cena -- Rowan as part of Cena v. the Wyatt Family (and why did they have to break up), Ziggler, Show more times than I can count, and Ryback. I mean, that booking idea where Cena's team all turns on him because he's an asshole makes the most sense.
ReplyDeleteSee it goes like this.
ReplyDeleteStep 1: Bring in Sting.
Step 2: ????
Step 3: Profit.
I mean, it's that simple.
Daniel Bryan didn't exactly become a star when he showed up to fight The Nexus and did just that.
ReplyDeleteChrist, get Sandow to do it. He's a proven impersonator at this point.
ReplyDeleteI'll be the one loudly singing "Roxanne" in my Reggie Hammond voice.
ReplyDeleteStingDow!
ReplyDeleteI'm watching 2012 Survivor Series, so if I make some random comments that's why.
ReplyDeleteIf there were a second national promotion, I think Dolph Ziggler would have quit WWE by now to go be World Champion of it.
I was assuming you were talking about options now post Raw and Sd.
ReplyDeleteThe WWE is fucking ridiculous with that shit. They sign a guy for big money, then only put him on shows that draw anyway, then wonder why none of their other shows draw.
ReplyDeleteThey really should have got Brock to work Hell in the Cell.
I've stood here before with a spiked golden mane
ReplyDeleteThe forearms of Vader pounding on my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the King of Ca...ble
Or, at the least, give me a compelling reason he's out for so long other than he doesn't like wrestling and doesn't have to be there. Why not during the Cena match, have a "doctor" pause the match, check on Cena's neck, Cena fights on because Cena...then, after the match, the doctor stupidly gets in Brock's face, Brock, haven't beaten Cena, rag dolls the shit out of some no name "doctor" and is suspended.
ReplyDeleteYou're thinking of laser discs.
ReplyDeleteSting is Bobby Singer?
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, WWE will know what they're doing. They'll probably have Goldust put his wig on Sting the very next night.
ReplyDeleteOkay, to my defense, this article states that the original Betamaxs could only record for an hour, and that played a part in them falling behind when the recordable VHS's came out. I was half-remembering that.
ReplyDeletehttp://gizmodo.com/betamax-vs-vhs-how-sony-lost-the-original-home-video-1591900374
A hospital holds up your pants and wait......that's not how this goes.
ReplyDeleteAye, definitely. Although, if there were a second national promotion, I think WWE probably would have made more moves and taken more risks in pushing newer guys to the very very top over the last ten years than they did.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh Kane, you don't have to put on your red light....
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine the reaction if they announced "Sting" to appear, and then Stingdow appeared? Would be magnificent carnage :D
ReplyDeleteApples and Oranges, my man.
ReplyDeleteThey were in different generations with different kinds of exposure. It's fair to say that Jack Brisco didn't hit nearly 2 million buys on PPV, but I'm sure Brisco drew comparably for his time, and was a star everywhere he went.
Again, the Briscos are before my time, but there's enough information out there to state a case for Jack Brisco.
Speaking of which...is it fair to say that CM Punk will be known for an exit that was eerily similar to Jack's? As in...when he said he was done, he was really done.
How does a guy who owns a gym not be in shape? That's an oxymoron.
ReplyDeleteThat'd make Luger John Winchester, which explains why he never did anything worth a damn.
ReplyDeleteSir, would you like some Pepper?
ReplyDeleteSports entertainment is more weird.
ReplyDeleteLaBatt's, Molson, or Moosehead?
ReplyDeleteSurvivor Series 2011 wasn't that bad, actually. One of the better shows of the modern era.
ReplyDeleteSummerSlam?
ReplyDeleteSting really needs that WCW camera style to really sell the moment.
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely confused why there's any hype around Sting returning. I get that he was WCW's big star in the 90s, with the appeal of being the one main guy that never went to WWF. But, he's an old man now. He's probably in bad shape. His matches and character demands sucked in TNA. He's a poor speaker.
ReplyDeleteI hope they use his symphony music, and maybe read that poem like they did b4 his match with hogan at starrcade.
ReplyDeleteHe's a legend and for a lot of people, he was their favourite wrestler growing up. Plus, it's something new. Sting has never been in WWE before and quite frankly, a debut like this is FAR more intriguing than the slugs they feature now and the same old Cena-HHH-Stephanie show.
ReplyDeleteI personally think Sting took too long to come in if he is. Most of the guys I'd want to see him wrestle are long gone (Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels) and I just feel the ship has sailed. The only match I'd be remotely interested in is vs Undertaker but even then I wouldn't care as much anymore. 1. They already broke the streak. 2. I think both are just too old to put on a good match at this point. Yeah I'm perfectly ok with not seeing Sting wrestle ever again.
ReplyDeletePlease remember this comment next time you think you get attacked on here for no reason.
ReplyDeleteSo you're asking me to please remember that I share my opinion on here? I said nothing worse than what most people say about andypg in the comments section of his reviews.
ReplyDeleteAnother swing and a miss buddy. Like your idea though, "it's alright to voice dislike about something unless I hate you." Just doesn't seem to feel like your best troll attempt to date.
And stuff like this is why you won'y get my money. So petty.
ReplyDeleteSurvivor Series 2011 was the only time during Rock's return he looked like he could still go. When they took the protection off it was rough.
ReplyDeleteGIVE ME A FUCKING MIC!
ReplyDeletePeople expected the three way tag to get shit tons of time and be better than it was which is why the bitterness i think.
ReplyDeleteRead that as 'medical fella'
ReplyDelete*rolls eyes*
ReplyDeleteA troll is not "someone who dislikes John Edwards" you fucking idiot.
It completely fits his character. He's always been the guy who thinks no one can get the job done better than himself. That's why he took on Bryan at WM30 and why he was gonna put himself in the world title match if he beat Bryan. That's why he re-formed Evolution to take down the Shield. That's why he took on Lesnar in 2013, Undertaker at past Wrestlemanias, etc. For him to not get involved in this match was a glaring plot hole for me throughout this whole PPV build.
ReplyDeleteOne company has a fish market street fight, the other has a match where you're supposed to throw people out of a cage, and I'm petty for calling that stupid. Noted.
ReplyDeleteI'll put you down for a maybe.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Xanta will bring you a copy?
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it but the recap makes the promo look good and less cartonny than during his feud with rollins
ReplyDeleteYou're right a troll follows someone around with negativity something you have done this week to me. So yeah another miss by you. Sensing a pattern here
ReplyDeleteNot sure many people would want to read 350 (!) pages about a rasslin' PPV, but good luck.
ReplyDelete... You're on SCOTT KEITH'S blog and you get butt hurt when people make fun of bad wrestling?
ReplyDeleteRight. Like you with this board. Sorry for calling you out on it.
ReplyDeleteKindle pages are smaller than regular pages. It's nowhere near that long on Word.
ReplyDeleteWould be better. Would never pay for someone's reviews.
ReplyDeleteNot at all. I make plenty of remarks that aren't trolling. Not my fault you don't agree with my opinion and feel the need to follow me around reminding me. If you don't like my comments scroll on by. I'm not a wrestlibg program, you should be able to ignore me easily enough.
ReplyDelete
