Thought I would do something from the Kayfabe Commentaries Timeline Series that highlight the 80's WWF. Here are your four choices:
1984 WWF as told by Roddy Piper
1985 WWF as told by Greg Valentine
1986 WWF as told by George Steele
1988 WWF as told by Jim Duggan

No desire to hear Roddy tell the same stories again, so Hammer it is.
ReplyDeleteOh god please everybody vote Valentine. Agree with Petrock. No need to hear Piper tell the Snuka coconut story again and try to kayfabe us on shit. And Steele is a SERIOUS born agin Christian who goes on and on about it whenever he speaks Probably not going to be interesting. And Duggan. i just fucking hate Duggan.
ReplyDeleteWish I had read this before I voted!
ReplyDeleteSo Steele must be in contention for oldest shoot video subject, n'est-çe pas?
ReplyDeleteNo n'est-çe pas. Hershey's.
ReplyDeleteSteele's timeline is very good. Valentine is hungover as fuck but still fairly entertaining. Saw Duggan's a while ago and forgot what he said. Haven't seen Piper's
ReplyDeleteSteele's is pretty good. Anyone but Piper, fuck him and his lying shit.
ReplyDeleteOnly picked Piper because people might want to see that. Heard Martel's 1981 timeline is solid too.
ReplyDeleteYou want 80s???

ReplyDeleteHacksaw gets my vote
So many gimmick matches. "Starrcade '85: Blading Extravaganza"
ReplyDeleteClose poll so far.
ReplyDeleteRightfully so. All but Piper's are very good, and I simply haven't seen Piper's yet so I can't give an honest opinion on it.
ReplyDeleteI voted Valentine although I wouldn't mind hearing from any of those guys except for Piper the carny.
ReplyDeleteSteele barely, if at all, touches on anything like that. Duggan's funny, and usually on target with his.
ReplyDeleteIf there's a "bad" one in the 80's run, it's Beefcake. He's funny, but fairly full of shit.
Isn't this Piper one the shoot where he kind of insinuates that Pat Patterson sexually harassed him or something?
ReplyDeleteHaving watched the Duggan preview, anyone who doesn't vote for it is a failure
ReplyDeleteFrom the preview, yeah.
ReplyDeleteTerry Garvin was known to do it. Anything is possible with that company
ReplyDeleteChris Hero!
ReplyDelete2013 WWE as told by CM Punk.
ReplyDeletegood to hear. Over on Kayfabe memories board years ago Steele used to babble on about his beliefs until the moderators finally had to ban him just because it was constant and often started arguments. As for Duggan I never (kayfabe) liked him. First face I absolutely hated (quickly followed by Warrior). I found his jingoistic patriotism so simplistic and annoying and of course he sucked in the ring in WWF. He didn't make me feel any better about him on Legends House with his weird attachment to Piper and his worked feud with Tony Atlas including the episode that had him getting all worked up and screaming at the camera guy when Tony wasnt around (I know, I know it's a work, but it was annoying). Just has always come across as the type of person I don't much care for in life
ReplyDeleteKC tried, I doubt they'll ever come close a financial agreement. Colt even stiffed them.
ReplyDeleteHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Tough guy!
ReplyDeleteCC already did it two days ago.
ReplyDelete"Thanks for nothing, ass face!"
ReplyDelete80s!
ReplyDeleteIt's TERRIBLE. He rambles incoherently. I couldn't watch more than 20 minutes of it.
ReplyDeleteMidnight Express got buried. I can't believe they rose above being jobbers.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the lying is intentional. He just can't remember the details of a story so he ramble and says whatever.
ReplyDelete+10 obscurity points for you, Mr. Jamesir Bensonmum
ReplyDeleteWas there a shoot review this week and I missed it?
ReplyDeleteNot this week.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the Hammer. Does it take him 15 minutes into the shoot just to get warmed up?
ReplyDeleteAll of them are good choices but I would go with the George Steele Timeline. Not only is it entertaining and informative but the guy breaks kayfabe just by talking.
ReplyDeleteI watched Martel's Timeline this week. Yeah it's pretty good.
ReplyDeleteAlso just watched the latest KC release "Back To The Territories: Mid-South" with Cornette and Duggan and I would definitely recommend that you review that someday.
Beefcake is quite bad but you forgot the 1983 Muraco Timeline was pretty awful too.
ReplyDeleteMuraco comes off like an Hawaiian Rob Van Dam in that shoot and that's not a compliment.
