First round voting for the first 8 matchups is complete and there’s nothing here that anyone who has watched wrestling for more than a year couldn’t have predicted, although Flair & Batista scoring something of an upset over Kane & RVD was a bit of a surprise to me.
The next eight groupings follow, and I can think of at least one of these matches that should be as close to a unanimous vote as we’re going to get. But we’ll find out tomorrow!
Fuck. We need seeding.
ReplyDeleteNo. We don't.
ReplyDeleteYour favorite team has to beat ALL the teams at some point, in theory. Doesn't matter if they drop out Round 1 or 6. Miz & Morrison got a rough draw.
ReplyDeleteNot necessarily. Team A could match up better against Team B, but Team B could match up better against Team C, which matches up better against Team A. Luck of the draw does matter.
ReplyDeleteWas anyone else sad about having to vote for the US Express to go over Daniel Bryan? But deep down, you just know that's the right thing to do--put the real team over the Kane team.
ReplyDeleteHardyz vs Miz/Morrison was a toughy...but had to go Hardyz
ReplyDeleteTeam Hell No all the way. I am a Kane shipper.
ReplyDeleteTony Garea and Kane: Greatest dream team of all time?
ReplyDeleteCena and otunga seems like the weirdest tag team to win the titles
ReplyDeleteVoted Team Hell No. I was worried Barry would flake out and leave in the middle if the tournament.
ReplyDeleteSome VERY interesting early voting trends in this one. Although I have to ask -- who are the seven people who voted for Morley & Storm? Hands up so I can mock you, please.
ReplyDeleteMe!
ReplyDeleteBlocks I through P?!
ReplyDeleteWell, no matter what happens at least there's no way this gets as ridiculously long as PTBN's 90's song poll (Final results expected in 2019!)
Rikishi and Rico?
ReplyDeleteAnd you can go right ahead with that if you want.
ReplyDeleteIs there really a chance Demolition, Steiners, Hart Foundation, or Bulldogs don't win? I mean I know Headbangers and Duece and Domino haven't shown up yet but come on.
ReplyDeleteWeren't they only champions for five minutes? They won the Championship, but the rematch happened right after?
ReplyDeleteFlair and Batista were a cool team, no upset there.
ReplyDeleteDemo's are against LOD in the first round and Harts/DX.
ReplyDeleteI actually predict a DX win. The sentiment towards Bret has turned in the last few years since we did this.
I didn't vote for them, but they did seem like a good midcard tag act on paper so it was pretty disappointing that the execution was rather flat.
ReplyDeleteIt was tough and I only went for the Hardy Boyz just because of their longevity in the business, though if both teams tagged for the same period of time I probably would have gone for Miz & Morriso.
ReplyDeletePeople hate DX as a tag team, the hearts will win. I expect most here appreciate Demos more than LOD.
ReplyDeleteYou've got every oddball pairing of singles wrestlers in the tournament but missing is a dedicated tag team like the Fabulous Freebirds? To quote the Hurricane, "What up wit dat?"
ReplyDeleteIt's all former WWE champs.
ReplyDeleteNevermind, it's wwe teams, I get it now.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I got it now. Reading is hard...
ReplyDeleteotunga and cena are the best tag team champs
ReplyDeleteYou know how some people voting in the Baseball Hall of Fame don't vote for certain people so they won't have a unanimous vote? I imagine this is the same thing. Although, I didn't vote for them.
ReplyDeleteAnd more than 1,000 votes in the first round? Damn!
No lie: I'd actually love to see a Too Cool vs. Strike Force match.
ReplyDeleteNext night on Raw. During the Cena is nexus slave thing.
ReplyDeleteI have to choose between one team with Jeff Hardy and on with the Miz? What is this, some sick joke?
ReplyDeleteAlso, Cena and Otunga were a team? I don't even remember that.
Doubt Cena remembers either.
ReplyDeleteIf any of you dare vote for Cena and Otunga over the Quebecers, you'll be hearing from my lawyer.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Chris Jericho & The Rock, The Quebecers, Booker T & RVD, Rock N' Sock, Team Hell No (tough pick on that one), Hogan & Edge, Strike Force, and the Hardy Boys.
ReplyDeleteOk, that's fair.
ReplyDeleteWell, if you've got to back a Kane team, Hell No is the one to get behind.
ReplyDeleteThat was me, sorry. My mouse was on an uneven surface and slipped as I clicked.
