- In regards to TNA’s issues with production on Wednesday night, the Manhattan Center’s production equipment was being used. The control board reportedly went down and then after they got it working again, it went down. They were about to send a dark match to the ring to fill time for time, but then finally got it working.
– Dave Sahadi, who usually directs the episodes of Impact, was not at the NYC tapings to direct the show on Wednesday. This was because he was in Nashville overseeing the installment of the new post-production equipment the company will be using to edit their show going forward.
– TNA shot at least one segment, in the streets, featuring MVP’s new crew. They are now known as the Beat Down Klan (BDK).
– Representatives from Destination America were at both nights of tapings this week. They were reportedly happy with the shows.
– The crowd last night was down from the Wednesday taping (650-700 fans), reportedly at 300-350 fans.
– There is talk that TNA will return to the venue in March to tape more TV.
- Here is the non-spoiler match listing for Friday’s TNA One Night Only: Turning Point PPV…
* Samoa Joe vs. Kenny King * Austin Aries vs. Sanada * Gail Kim vs. Angelina Love vs. Madison Rayne * Rockstar Spud & Ethan Carter III vs. Gunner & Mr. Anderson * Magnus vs. Eric Young * James Storm vs. Bobby Roode * Monster’s Ball Match: Abyss vs. Bram * MVP vs. Jeff Hardy
Smackdown is getting a push so they're moving Lawler over to that show, he's still on an A-show and is still calling PPV it's not a demotion more of a sideways move.
Shinsuke Nakamura is awesome and simply a fun guy to watch. Where it's his wrestling style, mannerisms, image or big match entrances he maybe my favorite guy in all of wrestling.
Someone in the other thread said that there is no wrestler in the post-Hogan era more boring than The Mountie. I say he's wrong. Mike Rotunda, after becoming IRS, was the most boring wrestler on planet Earth.
Its current purpose is pushing brand labels ("The Vigilante!" "The Lunatic Fringe!"), social media, cross-promotions and whatever else Vince screams into their ear. What commentary is supposed to do is not necessarily help the audience understand the product. It's supposed to, big-picture, get the talent over. And that's done by making the match seem important by treating it like a big, important fight and calling it as such, and if necessary filling in backstory gaps as to why we should care. It shouldn't be that hard to do. Fucking Matt Striker and Vampiro do a good job of it on Lucha Underground. for god's sake.
Foley was at one point my favorite wrestler. I would spend lots of dough as a teenager getting his Japan and ECW tapes. After reading his first book, I had even more respect for him.
My respect for him dwindled after each successive book (especially the "I love Melina like a sister, but I totally want to fuck her" book) and each comeback after his One Night Stand 2006 match.
I'm surprised that WWE even still acknowledges him at this point with all the bashing he does of the company's direction and how he talks about how hurt he is when he isn't contacted for stuff. I think he regrets having to give up the spotlight so early (he retired from full-time competition at 35) and misses being in the spotlight because the fan love for his 1998-2000 run went to his head.
I think if I was a wrestling company and wanted to make a run at national tv, I would do Saturday mornings. Everyone is home, no competition, and a proven record of success.
WWE ran a Saturday Morning Slam kid show for awhile. It usually featured one match at the end. It was Brodus Clay for multiple weeks and I stopped watching. It was also geared at small children. Like 7 year olds.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. And yeah, I'd expect anything on Saturday morning to be geared toward kids and likely not interest me. Still think it's silly that there's no Saturday morning wrestling show.
Same here. I just want to chill the fuck out at home on Friday night. I went out to the downtown bars right after work last Friday for the first time in forever and was home by like 10. So sad.
Wii U 32GB deluxe set with everything as if bought new. I also have Metroid Prime Trilogy, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, ZombiU, Mass Effect 3, Batman: Arkyham Asylum Armored Edition, and a Wii Remote + Nunchuk with motion plus.
I avoid Friday and Saturday nights in the city like the plague. The PLAGUE. Too busy, too loud, people pissing up the side of walls, it's decadent carnage.
It doesn't haven't to be geared towards kids, necessarily. I think just a good, true wrestling promotion a la roh would work. TNA's swerve heavy pseudo reality garbage wouldn't.
I want a Saturday Morning show that starts at Noon and is geared toward children with enough blood and tits to keep the drunk uncle who barely slept last night entertained while he watches these kids for his sister because she let him sleep over after his mother in-law kicked him out of his apartment because she found out he had been sleeping with his ex-wife again.
Just finished watching The Wiz. First time I've seen it since I was a kid. There definitely had to have been some heavy drugs used to come up with that scenery.
One thing I like about today's social media is that the average fan can talk to many celebrities and praise/scold them for stuff.. For example, Adam Carolla fired his "sidekick" Alison Rosen by email over the holiday break and gave no notice to the audience and gave a lame reason for it, no tribute show, and not even a chance for her to say good-bye. He is getting roasted on facebook and twitter over it and he has been responding to many over twitter about it. Alison has been getting a lot of love on social media and she feels genuinely blessed with the outpouring from her fans.
That can be avoided most weekends where I live. I don't live in a big city, for one thing (about 130,000 people) but downtown does get pretty hopping on the weekends. Some places I won't even try to bother with, but fortunately my favorite bars, while busy and crowded, are still usually pretty laid-back. But my girlfriend and I usually go to our best friends' house in a quiet neighborhood on the other side of town on Saturday nights to kick it. Then I'll walk to the bars when we get home before midnight, since they have a baby now.
I go out some Fridays, but I never feel bad about staying home and chilling out like I used to. Saturday night is the universal go out and party night, Friday night loses that feeling as you get older. Hell TV ratings for Friday shows are going up more and more now (thank god for Constantine).
The weird thing is, I actually like going out on Friday nights more. I have to come in to work (just from like 9-noon, but still) every other Saturday morning, so do a lot of my friends, and my girlfriend is usually busy until later in the evening on Fridays anyway, so I almost never do anything on Friday. But if I have nothing to do on Saturday, I really do not mind laying around hungover. Hate being hungover on Sunday, because it makes the impending doom of going back to work on Monday even worse.
Back on the dating scene after an unfortunate breakup. First date suggested I come over and watch a movie then chose Shallow Hal. Half way through I realized I hated her and Jack Black.
It's hit or miss at best. It's not for lack of talent though. When guys like ReDragon (ROH tag champs) venture out to other feds, their work looks so much better just because of little things like less contrived spots.
ROH TV is pretty bad but if you ever get the itch to watch again, find any of their big shows. Their PPV's are above average, typically with 1 legitimate **** match. Final Battle 2014 had a 6 man with Young Bucks & ACH vs Daniels & Kazarian & Cedric Alexander and ReDragon vs Time Splitters. Both in the **** range.

It's pretty sickening how much people feel qualified by a celebrity acknowledging their existence on Twitter... or how annoyed people get when celebrities don't acknowledge them.
One of my old bosses was on Twitter, but didn't tell the office. We used to look it up and crack up because she'd use it just to tweet things at celebrities and then complain on Twitter when they didn't acknowledge her. This was a 40-something year old woman by the way sending messages to bands like Train and Nickelback asking them when their next local show was, and then 20 minutes later posting "Well, I guess you don't want me to buy a ticket then if you're not going to respond. I have all your CDs!"
Oh man. :( I have in the past tweeted something I thought was really funny to a celeb and been *slightly* disappointed that I didn't get a response, but I wouldn't go crazy about it. They get like a million tweets a day!
Ha, true. My alcohol tolerance is so much lower than it used to be, which I guess is good. Plus, my girlfriend quit drinking almost a year ago, which makes it less fun to get really hammered (even if she isn't with me). So if I do, it's a planned event where I know I'm drinking my face off well in advance. I don't even know why I'm so opposed to being hungover on a Sunday, anyway. For one thing, as long as I stick to beer I'm usually fine. Also, I almost never have anything to do on a Sunday (be it social or something actually productive) whereas on Saturdays I almost always do.
My toddler woke me up at 6:55 (again). It's too cold to safely go anywhere today. So i'm going to need you all to make with the funny comments, as I need a good distraction.
Also many times it is not them that it is responding, but their publicist/assistant. With Adam, one can tell it is him because he is a notoriously bad typist
Allow me to continue the love-in of glad you are back, Justin. Loved your old reviews, as well as your coverage of the competitive Capcom Street Fighter world. That one Christmas compilation tape you put out is still one of my favorites.
Great review and I agree with nearly all your scores. I would have gone full monty for the two main events, though. I haven't been that invested in two matches in years. Also, is it me or is Kenny Omega dressing like a cosplay Sephiroth these days?
Just imagine how many people send twitter messages to someone like Taylor Swift an hour. I couldn't imagine having to sift through that, which is probably a mix between "I LOVE YOU TALYOR!" "I want to fuck you" "i hope you are dead" "please RT me I am so sad" etc.
Poor Rotunda. He was such a good wrestler, but not great as a babyface, so he kinda had to be a heel, but that meant having to work with such lumbering stiffs (literal lumber--like 2X4-wielding Jim Duggan). He & DiBiase both came along at just the wrong moment, either a few years too early or too late; and in the wrong place.
Years and years ago I went over to a girl's place to watch a movie. She asked me what she should rent and I told her I didn't care (I didn't plan on watching the movie, if you get what I mean). I came off and it was fucking Maid in Manhattan. MAID IN MANHATTAN. And we WATCHED the movie because she "really wanted to see it." And she laughed at the stupidest shit.
I look back at myself from 8-12 years ago with reverence in terms of my past drinking prowess. I'd be up till 4 AM and then be out at the tailgate for an 11 AM Illinois football game pounding beers by 7:30. The few times I get to a tailgate now I make sure I get really stoned and go to bed early on Friday so I can actually drink and kick it the whole next day.
- A large amount of WWE content has been removed from iTunes. It follows the removal of 99% of WWE content that was streaming on Netflix. WWE may be allowing the contracts to expire to force potential customers to go to the WWE Network to find the material.
Well, yeah. But then you'd have spent months and years having to watch shitty movies and shows and marveling at how horrible of a sense of humor this woman has. So it's a push.
When I was in HS me and my friend were stood up on a movie date to see Diary of a Mad Black Woman. We were the only white people in the theater. We leave halfway through and the 2 bitches are hanging out with 2 other guys. They then had the nerve to leave them and ask if we wanted to hang out like nothing happened. My friend in now engaged to her, and I am going to be his best man.
Ummmmm....unless they're setting up a music download service, I don't understand the iTunes thing. Seems like they're shooting themselves in the foot with that, but whatever. People will just pirate it, and they will make $0 instead of the $0.99 to $1.29 that they would have otherwise.
Not sure if it's been mentioned but reading the TNA spoilers, MVP's new faction is called The Beatdown Clan in what has to be the worst group name in some time.
They had matches/shows on iTunes, is what I'm guessing is being removed. There was still a lot of songs on it as of a few days ago, as I almost downloaded Finn's entrance.
It's insane to think that brands actually WANT a girl who became famous because her mother sold a "sex tape" of her being peed on to be the face of their company.
The best first date I ever had was a girl who invited me over to her place to watch movies. We had awesome chemistry and were totally into each other, but then she chose to watch Human Centipede of all things. No making out during that one. After that, we threw on Romancing the Stone and commenced with the making out.
Yeah, I had forgotten about that. I *never* use iTunes for that purpose, so I kind of forget they have a movie/music video store. I tend to mainly use it for the music, so that's why I thought that they were pulling all their themes/ect. off of there.
We were discussing this on another less-popular thread: which wrestler is the biggest mark for himself? Candidates include: Bret "I was more popular in England than Davey Boy Smith" Hart Mick "Why isn't WWE returning my calls?" Foley Michael "The Freedbirds invented everything" Hayes
It will be insane to look at the vote totals for the IC tourney. Pedro/mountie and godfather/perfect would have like 10000 and flair/mcintyre will have 1000
WWE might be feeling some pressure to heat up SmackDown again. Ratings aren't great, and SyFy is really trying to boost their profile with quality shows. I'm still getting the vibe that SmackDown might end up being moved to USA eventually.
The paradigm had really shifted on Kenny Omega with the heel turn. He was always great in the ring but I've never seen this much personality in his work. The chainsaw thing was awesome and kudos to Matt Striker for setting it up so well with his explanation.
Mick is a mark for himself but he also puts over guys he's worked with and can be rather self depreciating. Remember he turned down several runs because he didn't think he could perform at a high enough level anymore. Biggest mark for himself has to be CM Punk "I only walked out on WWE and didn't speak to them for 4 months, how dare they fire me" "I am straight edge, how dare they ask me to do the same drug testing as everyone else" "The WWE made me continue wrestling when injured and when I was injured they tried to make me finish a match early against my wishes" "WWF never pushed or promoted me, I should have been on every bit of merchandise everywhere"
I'm hopeful Omega explained to the Japanese announcers why that forearm grind is as effective as it is. The whole shaved arms story was hilarious but made the simple move all the better.
Are you guys familiar with atavist? They publish short nonfiction stories. I got a subscription for Xmas and am digging it. My favorite so far is American Hippo, about 2 mortal enemies in the early 1900s that joined forces to try to convince the govt to import hippos for meat.
Plus WWE don't know how well he can wrestle at the moment (being ring fit, doesn't mean you are back to the same level) so putting him on a show they can edit for his first match makes perfect sense.
Great stuff. Can't believe he panned his knees and thighs pre match to pull that off. A couple baby oil packets to use during the match when no one is watching. Good stuff by the ref.
I believe I reviewed the first... 5 shows? I remember thinking at the time that Danielson vs Daniels vs Low Ki was 2002 MOTY. Ended up changing my mind after watching Angle/Benoit vs Mysterio/Edge from No Mercy that year. Haven't revisited the former match in literally 12 years. Probably worth looking at again.
Lack of news? THE MOUNTIE IS GONNA WIN! It's literally the biggest news of all time.

No comments about Lawler getting demoted?
ReplyDeleteWhen was he demoted?
ReplyDeleteDemoted, pushed into retirement, tomato, tomahto...
ReplyDeleteHe's going to do Smackdown now. It's pretty much a demotion, pushing him to retire.
ReplyDeleteLawler got demoted?! I thought he had vaginal warts or something.
ReplyDeleteSmackdown is getting a push so they're moving Lawler over to that show, he's still on an A-show and is still calling PPV it's not a demotion more of a sideways move.
ReplyDeleteHave they ever HEARD of the BDK before?
ReplyDeleteWhy can't we just wish him well on his eventual future endeavors and be done with it?
ReplyDeleteHere's major news for the day:
ReplyDeleteMountie vs. Morales is like Ali v. Frazier.
and...
Hoss killed me.
That is all.
I'm assuming they are trying to refer to BDK intentionally because they think it's a positive reference to make.

They were ALL dark matches!
ReplyDeleteBlack Disciple Killers.
ReplyDeleteIt's a gang in Chicago (at least it's toned down quite a bit - they were bigger in the 90s).
You just can't find good help these days.
ReplyDeleteWhat purpose does modern commentary have? Is there really an audience member out there who relies on commentary to understand the WWE product?
ReplyDeleteShinsuke Nakamura is awesome and simply a fun guy to watch. Where it's his wrestling style, mannerisms, image or big match entrances he maybe my favorite guy in all of wrestling.

ReplyDeleteYes and I think it was in a later game too? They brought it back... like 2002 or something?

Who said that? I want names! Mountie sang and had a cattle prod. Nothing boring about that!
ReplyDeleteI think so, fun little callback
ReplyDeleteJustin Credible was far more dull. I.R.S at least cut decent promos
ReplyDeleteI think if I was a wrestling company and wanted to make a run at national tv, I would do Saturday mornings. Everyone is home, no competition, and a proven record of success.
ReplyDeleteI think you can also add the entire DOA and Los Boriquas groups, and add their feud to one of the most boring of all-time.
ReplyDeleteWithout WWE commentary why else would The Great Gazoo end up trending on Twitter in 2014?
ReplyDeletemmm, won't people be recovering from a hangover the night before?
ReplyDeleteI was just having this conversation with my smark co-worker the other day. Why has no one done anything on Saturday morning in so fucking long?
ReplyDeleteThere was Saturday Morning slam not so long ago.
ReplyDeleteWelp, I am selling my Wii U and games in favor of a PS4.
ReplyDeleteWWE ran a Saturday Morning Slam kid show for awhile. It usually featured one match at the end. It was Brodus Clay for multiple weeks and I stopped watching. It was also geared at small children. Like 7 year olds.
ReplyDelete89 bucks.
ReplyDeleteI'll give you $100 for it.
ReplyDelete$101
ReplyDeletelol.... I listed it for about $270 on Amazon. I need my sports game fix and the upcoming library of Wii U games isn't impressing me enough to keep it.
ReplyDeleteFive $20 dollar bills.
ReplyDelete$98. That's my final offer!
ReplyDeleteAs I've gotten older (only 38), I'm usually beat on Friday night after working all week. I use that to relax and then go out on Saturday night.
ReplyDelete$92 and its yours! (plus $178 shipping)
ReplyDelete3 $20's, 3 $10's, and 10 $1's. With one Sacajawea gold dollar as well.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I forgot about that. And yeah, I'd expect anything on Saturday morning to be geared toward kids and likely not interest me. Still think it's silly that there's no Saturday morning wrestling show.
ReplyDelete$9.99
ReplyDelete$95...
ReplyDeleteWhat sort of game bundle are we talking about?
Hmmm....the shipping would indicate your placing a small boat in the box. I will pass, sadly.
ReplyDeleteSame here. I just want to chill the fuck out at home on Friday night. I went out to the downtown bars right after work last Friday for the first time in forever and was home by like 10. So sad.

ReplyDeleteJust finished watching The Wiz. First time I've seen it since I was a kid. There definitely had to have been some heavy drugs used to come up with that scenery.
ReplyDeleteI've decided to keep the Wii U!
ReplyDelete300 is about 1/7 of what it holds.

ReplyDeletethey should remake that but with the Miz
ReplyDeleteOh man. :( I have in the past tweeted something I thought was really funny to a celeb and been *slightly* disappointed that I didn't get a response, but I wouldn't go crazy about it. They get like a million tweets a day!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'd much rather be hungover and lazy on Saturday than on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteOf course they are. You always have to kill false flag operatives so they don't spill the beans. The false flag beans. #infowars
ReplyDeleteHa, true.
ReplyDeleteI don't even know why I'm so opposed to being hungover on a Sunday, anyway.
ReplyDeleteGood Lord!!!!! Even the Manhattan Center wants no part of 'em lol
ReplyDeleteAlso many times it is not them that it is responding, but their publicist/assistant. With Adam, one can tell it is him because he is a notoriously bad typist
ReplyDeleteOh of course, but there's a difference between being slightly disappointed and going on the social media warpath
ReplyDeleteMmmm... false flag beans.
ReplyDeleteThis was the highlight of the night. Ref's got some moves http://111.imagebam.com/download/PgMExUCiLjOy4xjEzUJpwg/38015/380140214/Angle.gif
ReplyDeleteAllow me to continue the love-in of glad you are back, Justin. Loved your old reviews, as well as your coverage of the competitive Capcom Street Fighter world. That one Christmas compilation tape you put out is still one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteHuh, Daniel Bryan is having his first match on SD Thursday. Guess they are tring to get people interested in SD again.
ReplyDeleteGreat review and I agree with nearly all your scores. I would have gone full monty for the two main events, though. I haven't been that invested in two matches in years. Also, is it me or is Kenny Omega dressing like a cosplay Sephiroth these days?
ReplyDeleteJust imagine how many people send twitter messages to someone like Taylor Swift an hour. I couldn't imagine having to sift through that, which is probably a mix between "I LOVE YOU TALYOR!" "I want to fuck you" "i hope you are dead" "please RT me I am so sad" etc.
ReplyDelete#buried
ReplyDeleteThat's a very deliberate choice. Probably fishing to see if you cared that she has a penis. The movie for date 2 was going to be the Crying Game.
ReplyDeletePoor Rotunda.
ReplyDeleteLOL.
ReplyDeleteYears and years ago I went over to a girl's place to watch a movie.
ReplyDeleteI left and never called her again.
Fuck, I still get mad when I think about it.
However, she can make thousands of dollars for a simple post of "I like brand X; I use it every morning"
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, it's worth it. Kim Kardashian apparently makes $10k for twitter endorsements.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you dodged a bullet, actually.
ReplyDeleteAs a man who is very, very happily married many years later, I agree.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I still would've liked to have seen this other girl naked.
ReplyDeleteI don't see anything wrong with letting him work off some rust on Smackdown.
ReplyDeleteNews report from 411mania
ReplyDelete- A large amount of WWE content has been removed from iTunes.
ReplyDeleteFalse flag coffee?
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt is the first Thursday SD, so that is probably the main reason.
ReplyDeleteBayless being "busy" just days after winning a Doomy.Something is up. I bet he's bolting for Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in HS me and my friend were stood up on a movie date to see Diary of a Mad Black Woman. We were the only white people in the theater. We leave halfway through and the 2 bitches are hanging out with 2 other guys. They then had the nerve to leave them and ask if we wanted to hang out like nothing happened. My friend in now engaged to her, and I am going to be his best man.
ReplyDelete/fin
Ummmmm....unless they're setting up a music download service, I don't understand the iTunes thing. Seems like they're shooting themselves in the foot with that, but whatever. People will just pirate it, and they will make $0 instead of the $0.99 to $1.29 that they would have otherwise.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if it's been mentioned but reading the TNA spoilers, MVP's new faction is called The Beatdown Clan in what has to be the worst group name in some time.
ReplyDeleteiTunes also has video content in it's store.
ReplyDeleteThey had matches/shows on iTunes, is what I'm guessing is being removed. There was still a lot of songs on it as of a few days ago, as I almost downloaded Finn's entrance.
ReplyDeleteYou know, you're right. And I can see so many naked women on the internet!
ReplyDeleteIt's a win-win-win-win for me!
nothing is worse than the corrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre
ReplyDeleteI love him in Orange County.
ReplyDeleteMental Floss is usually ALWAYS a good read. I love their magazine.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very Indy sounding name.
ReplyDeleteAnd somehow...I'm not sure if the broadcast team is better off. JBL, Cole, and Booker? Eesh.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. New Day is pretty lame.
ReplyDeleteI have a meeting with Warner Brothers as we speak
ReplyDeleteAnd racist too
ReplyDeleteIt's insane to think that brands actually WANT a girl who became famous because her mother sold a "sex tape" of her being peed on to be the face of their company.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, Bret continues to let himself go http://i.minus.com/iRsz1RwY4iCNa.gif
ReplyDeleteSound choice. Lots of great games with tons of replayability out for that console right now.
ReplyDeleteTV contract for BoD RAW?
ReplyDeleteReferred to as BDK, which is also the name of a gang in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteTNA, man, sometimes I don't get you.
Well, it is TNA. Might as well be an indy.
ReplyDeleteFair false flag trade coffee
ReplyDeleteThe best first date I ever had was a girl who invited me over to her place to watch movies. We had awesome chemistry and were totally into each other, but then she chose to watch Human Centipede of all things. No making out during that one. After that, we threw on Romancing the Stone and commenced with the making out.
ReplyDeleteHe had a stroke, goddammit!
ReplyDeleteWeird they'd use clan in a black led group. Is Cabana available to front the final solution mafia?
ReplyDeleteIt's no Speed Force.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I had forgotten about that. I *never* use iTunes for that purpose, so I kind of forget they have a movie/music video store. I tend to mainly use it for the music, so that's why I thought that they were pulling all their themes/ect. off of there.
ReplyDeleteBut at least they're not named after a black only gun wielding street gang.
ReplyDeleteNot really that fun of a fact.
ReplyDeleteLeaving the BoD? Better Warna Brotha.
ReplyDeleteIWC reaction to King being off Raw http://abload.de/img/t8uat.gif
ReplyDeleteWe were discussing this on another less-popular thread: which wrestler is the biggest mark for himself?
ReplyDeleteCandidates include:
Bret "I was more popular in England than Davey Boy Smith" Hart
Mick "Why isn't WWE returning my calls?" Foley
Michael "The Freedbirds invented everything" Hayes
Other
Yeah, he's probably starting his own website. It'll be called InsidePulse and he'll make BILLIONS!!!
ReplyDeleteThis week we switched to working five 10s. Not the best thing to come back to after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteWell, the other two came up to Bret with tears in their eyes saying only Bret could be the biggest mark for oneself
ReplyDeleteIt will be insane to look at the vote totals for the IC tourney. Pedro/mountie and godfather/perfect would have like 10000 and flair/mcintyre will have 1000
ReplyDeleteso a fifty hour work week?
ReplyDeleteWWE might be feeling some pressure to heat up SmackDown again. Ratings aren't great, and SyFy is really trying to boost their profile with quality shows. I'm still getting the vibe that SmackDown might end up being moved to USA eventually.
ReplyDeleteMichael "The Freebirds Invented Everything and I'm the Blackest Motherfucker Alive" Hayes
ReplyDeleteThe paradigm had really shifted on Kenny Omega with the heel turn. He was always great in the ring but I've never seen this much personality in his work. The chainsaw thing was awesome and kudos to Matt Striker for setting it up so well with his explanation.
ReplyDeleteHarry Dunne: I can't believe we drove around all day, and there's not a single job in this town. There is nothing, nada, zip!
ReplyDeleteLloyd Christmas: Yeah! Unless you wanna work forty hours a week.
Punk/HBK is drawing a pretty vocal reaction from the Blog as well.
ReplyDeleteYep. The OT will be nice on the ol' paycheque but working with 40' long poles gets pretty tiring even after 40.
ReplyDeleteProbably a better deal than TNA got.
ReplyDelete......
ReplyDelete.....no!
......
......no, sir!
Mick is a mark for himself but he also puts over guys he's worked with and can be rather self depreciating.
ReplyDeleteRemember he turned down several runs because he didn't think he could perform at a high enough level anymore.
Biggest mark for himself has to be CM Punk
"I only walked out on WWE and didn't speak to them for 4 months, how dare they fire me"
"I am straight edge, how dare they ask me to do the same drug testing as everyone else"
"The WWE made me continue wrestling when injured and when I was injured they tried to make me finish a match early against my wishes"
"WWF never pushed or promoted me, I should have been on every bit of merchandise everywhere"
seriously how is Punk beating HBK? I can't even tell you one thing about Punk's reign.
ReplyDeleteHulk Hogan - No explanation needed
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing a lot of bloggers weren't around to see Shawn's reign and haven't seen it in the archives, which is a real pity.
ReplyDeleteI'm hopeful Omega explained to the Japanese announcers why that forearm grind is as effective as it is. The whole shaved arms story was hilarious but made the simple move all the better.
ReplyDeleteAdam "Makes A Lot of Stuff Up" Wright
ReplyDeleteAre you guys familiar with atavist? They publish short nonfiction stories. I got a subscription for Xmas and am digging it. My favorite so far is American Hippo, about 2 mortal enemies in the early 1900s that joined forces to try to convince the govt to import hippos for meat.
ReplyDeleteor it is 2 guys voting 1000 times (maybe from NPP)
ReplyDeletePlus WWE don't know how well he can wrestle at the moment (being ring fit, doesn't mean you are back to the same level) so putting him on a show they can edit for his first match makes perfect sense.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff. Can't believe he panned his knees and thighs pre match to pull that off. A couple baby oil packets to use during the match when no one is watching. Good stuff by the ref.
ReplyDeleteNo Hogan?
ReplyDeleteAll of those statements were based off his podcasts he did a couple months back to increase his name value ready for his UFC contract.
ReplyDeletemean street posse
ReplyDeletespirit squad
I believe I reviewed the first... 5 shows? I remember thinking at the time that Danielson vs Daniels vs Low Ki was 2002 MOTY. Ended up changing my mind after watching Angle/Benoit vs Mysterio/Edge from No Mercy that year. Haven't revisited the former match in literally 12 years. Probably worth looking at again.
ReplyDeleteBeat Down Klan
ReplyDeleteThis is your perspective on what he said.
ReplyDeleteSure, and next you'll tell us that you made $16,000 per week working from home...
