The Mountain Goats have announced a new album dedicated to professional wrestling. The album is called Beat The Champ and is out on April 7th in North America.

And the track The Legend of Chavo Guerrero is streaming at Soundcloud now:

I think this is the highest profile wrestling name-check in music since Johnny Grunge put New Jack through a table in El Scorcho by Weezer.

    I once wrote a long thesis for a friend explaining Grunge legdropping New Jack, and its significance. That song came out in 1996, showing the impact 1995 ECW had on people. If only they were on cable that year...

    Off subject, now that Road Dogg is back in WWE, he really is wasted in The New Age Outlaws. Hooking him back up with K-Kwik is where the money's at.

    As a band who've been on 4AD, my fave record label ever, I've heard 'em and they're pretty good in a boring sort of way.

    Call me crazy but....other than the large company owning NWA/WCW, most of those turned out to be as far-fetched and ridiculous as they sounded. (Steve Disalvo NWA Champ? Elizabeth working a 26-minute match? Really???? She couldn't work a 26-second match)
