Update nerd.
ReplyDelete"LOL, send out fuckin' Golddust!"
ReplyDeleteMight? IT IS! I literally had tissues out to dry my eyes like the guy at the end.
ReplyDeleteThat is true. And even if they're not in a specific feud, you still know their motivation and know their character. Nothing feels slapped together or pointless. The biggest jobber in the company (Son of Havoc) on paper has random matches week to week, but he's still involved in a coherent story line.
ReplyDeleteI know he's been doing it for a few months now... but Jericho only doing houseshows is kind of unprecedented, right?
ReplyDeleteI mean, that's exactly what I would want to do as a wrestler. You get to go out there and do what you want, without the real time constraints of TV stuff.
Haha.. Kicks in general are kind of bullshit. I like Bryan though.
ReplyDeleteWrestlemania V just isn't the same without The Rockers' anti-smoking PSA with drunken Jannetty. "Das right. Rockin' n' Rollin', struttin' n' strollin' duuuuuuuuuuuusssn't incloo smokin'."
ReplyDeleteAccording to Pwinsider.com, Cassandra Frazier, the widow of Nelson Frazier Jr. (Mabel, Viscera and Big Daddy V) has filed a lawsuit against the WWE. The suit was filed in the Shelby County Circuit Court in Memphis, Tennessee, and is a wrongful death suit. Frazier alleges that her husband’s passing, “was due to the cumulative effect of the punishment he took in the ring, including concussions and brain trauma over the 400+ matches he competed in for WWE.” WWE has not been officially served with the suit as it is currently in its early stages.
ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck happened to Frenchy Martin's teeth?
ReplyDeleteAre you going to a car boot sale?
ReplyDeleteDanimal's Dangerous Daily Update is up now. We also have a look at Uncensored 95 by Rock Star Gary and a new Lucha Underground review will go up this afternoon. Plenty of other surprises along the way. We're having a lot of fun over at:
ReplyDeletewww.danimalcrossing.com
Mrs. Frazier is smart. WWE, for the most part, loses its lawsuits and will probably give her a good settlement before it even goes to trial.

If she has an assistant called Smash...awesome.
ReplyDelete"As green as turtle shit" may be my new favorite catchphrase in wrestling.
ReplyDeleteListening to 'Snap Your Finger, Break Your Neck'. Love me a bit of Prong, even with the unfortunate Justin Credible associations.
ReplyDeleteWould have been perfect for Chris Benoit if he'd still been around.
Was there ever a less appropriate choice of theme music? I'd have given Justin Credible 'Mmm Bop' to come out to.
Any future Daniel Bryan match report that doesn't include the description "ninja kick bullshit" should be deemed void
ReplyDeleteSo long as she doesn't try to suggest the WWE ever made Mabel go on steroids, because of them expecting their Superstars to look good, and how that negatively affected his health. Or they're gonna laugh her right out of the court room.
ReplyDeleteI wish! Tickets are a whopping £18
ReplyDeleteSynergy and Promptly Filed Expenses Claims are their middle names.
ReplyDeleteDead. I'm dead after watching this!
ReplyDeleteGood god! Where at, Rock City?
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on seeing Therapy? 2 or 3 times soon, that's gonna be costing me nearly £60 just for me alone :/ That's nearly $93!
Roddy Piper grabbing the front of Brother Love's kilt like he's holding his dick, and then shooting a fire extinguisher up Morton Downey Jr.'s butt.
ReplyDeleteSurely, this is the best example we've seen of "Backstage Piper" in front of the curtain. All the white, powdery substance from the fire extinguisher certainly helps make the image authentic.
So he has the Eagle belt variations and all the spinner belts but not the most awesome one ever? No smoking skull belt?
ReplyDeleteNerd.
Has the WWE Network stream been utter shit for anyone else lately? Started last week with Rival where it kept freezing and I had to wait and watch the show On Demand. Ever since then, every show I watch (old Nitros/Raws, NXT on the stream last night) switches in quality every 5 seconds from crystal clear HD, to 2005 torrent rip, to buffering on Real Player circa 1999.
ReplyDeleteI still bust out ECW Extreme Music Vol 1 every now and again. Has some damned good covers including that Motorhead Enter Sandman cover.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to watch an old WCW PPV the other day, but it was shit. The live stream was flawless. Until that turned to shit last night. So I started watching the COTCs. Today they're unwatchable but old Wrestlemanias? Fine.
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be something to do with which server you get connected to, where you actually get your media streamed from.
I've not heard that, I'll have to get ahold of it!
ReplyDeleteRescue Rooms, smaller venue round the corner from City. I'm soon to be spending about £70 to see this other band because I stupidly waited too long to get tickets and now I'm going to be hitting up stubhub
ReplyDeleteYeah, I went to see the Manics at Wolves. last year and it was the normal price. Was going to again this year but the cheapest ticket I've seen is on somewhere like stubhub, for £80. Fuck that.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't in attendance but I can assure you we do occasionally stumble into it. There are too many of us that interact with each other for it not to happen. I'll definitely agree about not being likeable, though.
ReplyDeleteI figure the problem is something on WWE's end, considering I can watch any other streaming service with absolutely zero problems. Probably using the cheapest quality servers around, and a very small number of them too.
ReplyDeleteThere should be more regulation on selling tickets above face value.
ReplyDeleteHe has a Divas belt...a Divas belt, for heaven's sake!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I'm figuring too. I wouldn't be surprised if they're now getting over capacity, now that they're finally available outside in the UK/Ireland and soon (already?) in parts of the Middle East.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he thinks it's pretty.
ReplyDeleteI like to imagine him telling his belt guy "um, it's for my niece!" Or heck, maybe he's just a completest? Still, as said, no smoking skull belt, no buys.
ReplyDeleteI sure do love me some ol' 80's NWA wrestling action. Let's go to the ring for our next contest:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4Rm190R3V4
Matt is a giant pussy!
ReplyDeleteheh.
Kinda hope she wins. Remember seeing that, no joke, Mo set up a fund to help pay for his funeral and then kept a majority of the money for himself.
ReplyDeleteSLOW NEWZ! Looking forward to the D Lo Shoot Review at noon.
ReplyDeleteQuality has been great for me on live stream and on demand, but if I watch something on demand I have to back out of the app and then go back in to play something else. This has happened since the Feb. free preview began so I'm guessing the system is overtaxed. It's nowhere close to as bad as it was the first week when only live stream really worked.
ReplyDeleteI gotta admit, I fell asleep on Zayn/Owens from Rival and I feel bad about it. I was drinking and it just sorta happened.
ReplyDeleteThat's when people are nervous unless they're hypochondriacs and get things into their heads that aren't true.
ReplyDeleteToo much crazy lady.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? That's so messed up.
ReplyDelete"Sting is indeed injured. Although official word is that Sing was attacked by Ric Flair, Ole & Arn Anderson in Birmingham, on the weekend, as the more astute net-fans have noticed, it seems like Sting did some damage to himself (or was already injured) at the time of the Clash last week.
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, he is injured and is not expected to return to the NWA for four months. This throws quite a wrench into WrestleWar '90 later this month. It is strongly rumoured that Lex Luger will
be used as a Sting substitute for this card. No one else will draw the crowd like Lex will, and
he's honestly the only guy 'worthy' of a title shot at a PPV right now. There is talk that Luger will take the strap. Either way, Steve Williams gets screwed out of his US title match against Lex. {Possible scenario: Williams is so pissed that he doesn't get his title shot, he interferes in the match and saves Ric's butt. Stevebecomes an honorary Horseman. I doubt it though, since Steve has been given a face push.}"
-Herb Kunze(RSPW Wrestling Tidbits 2/15/90
I've had quite a few problems with it crashing lately. I'll start a show and it never loads up and it won't even let me reset my PS3 without unplugging it. Also, the "Resume Watching" feature always crashes.
ReplyDeleteFunny how nowadays PPV main events don't have crowds as hot as this match does.
ReplyDeleteI saw Prong last year. Kinda sucks that they were playing in front of only about 200 fans in a crappy venue but I'm still glad that I got to see Tommy Victor (who was surprisingly short in person). Obviously not the original line-up but they were still really good.
ReplyDeleteThat kind of heat is DEAD, only to return after what's considered "pro wrestling" now goes through a complete 180. NOT a 360, for those twits in the audience.
ReplyDeleteIt's not Motorhead but actually Lemmy backed up by Zebrahead of all bands. Still a great cover though.
ReplyDeleteAll i notice is a grown man wearing Cena merch.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Disgusting.
Hockey needs to bring back the tie.
ReplyDeleteIn my neck of the woods, this is called "The Illinois/Northwestern football game."
ReplyDeletePoor Northwestern.
ReplyDeleteHe's also missing a current Intercontinental belt, which looks better than many of those.
ReplyDeleteThe Current Reigning Defending Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of Never Getting Laid.
ReplyDeleteGets funnier every time. The words mashed with the hand gestures blends beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI used your exact quote about realplayer like 2 nights ago hahaha
ReplyDeleteI believe the term is "morbidly obese".
ReplyDeleteMakes me wish Vince could book the ME programs, HHH be in charge of mid card titles and Steph handle the Divas stuff. HHH could run NXT Jr in the midcard and overshadow everything else. Make the US and IC titles worker belts while VInce can push his flavor of the month and do silly stories up top.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if on Sunday Michael Cole will utter the brilliant phrase:
ReplyDelete"FastLane is the final stop on the road to WrestleMania!"
Only 27 or 28 times.
ReplyDelete"Let's just hope they make it there without a wreck MAGGLE"
ReplyDeleteI'd have Rusev beat Cena at Fastlane and WM with the WM being a stretcher job. John comes back at Summerslam for revenge. If they are going to go all in on Reigns you can't have Cena hanging around in the background. Give John some time off. Do medical updates and rehab stuff. Keep him on TV but not active.
ReplyDeleteHe will and it will be hilariously stupid, because the last stop is actually the March 23 RAW since there is no Smackdown taping on the 24th (guess it will be a clip show?)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if Scott Hudson talking about WCW B shows sounds fascinating or incredibly dull.
ReplyDeleteIf that's not his Match.com profile photo, how does he ever expect to win over the ladies?
ReplyDeleteAccording to rumors circulating, there are four names that are speculated at being called up shortly after WrestleMania (at least one or two probably the night after for maximum effect): Charlotte, Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville, and Finn Balor. While all four absolutely deserve to be on the main roster, it's going to partially decapitate the top of NXT's card. You'll still have Tyler Breeze, Hideo Itami and Kevin Owens, but I guess with Brian Kendrick and Rhyno coming in as the veteran presence and possible Samoa Joe entry, they could be getting ready to run through a new cycle.
ReplyDeleteIf Charlotte does get the call up, it'll free up Sasha Banks to stretch her legs as the top woman in NXT and position her against Bayley for awhile. They could still probably stand to send some people down from the main roster though to fill out the card again.
Wow! Just watched Season 2 ep 2 of Broadchurch. Miller & Hardy? More like Laurel & Hardy!
ReplyDeleteBalor would be an odd choice since he's the current #1 contender in NXT.
ReplyDeleteSo she should sue Mo, not WWE, for that wrong. WWE had nothing to do with Mo swindling people out of money.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big WWE defender but Frazier received steady employment from WWE for about a decade and could've stopped anytime he wanted to. This isn't going to trial. In fact, she might not even get a settlement.
Then again, this is WWE lawyers who are known to fuck up everything besides the WCW suit over Razor/Diesel.
My guess Neville will be the one who gets called up.
ReplyDeleteThere's been rumors swirling around him for months now that the WWE has big plans for him in 2015. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they pull the trigger on the move, because I really get the sense that Triple H and his booker(s) in NXT have little control over when someone gets the call up.
ReplyDelete"While all four absolutely deserve to be on the main roster, it's going to partially decapitate the top of NXT's card."
ReplyDeleteBut isn't that kind of the point of NXT? Keep cycling new talent in to keep it fresh?
Doesn't mean he'll win his shot at the title.
ReplyDeleteIt is, I just don't know who they're going to cycle in is all. Eventually the quality of NXT will have to decline as they shed some independent talent and bring up their homegrown people.
ReplyDeleteBOB SLYDELL: So what you do is you take the specifications from the customers and you bring them down to the software engineers?
ReplyDeleteTOM: That, that's right.
BOB PORTER: Well, then I gotta ask, then why can't the customers just take the
specifications directly to the software people, huh?
TOM: Well, uh, uh, uh, because, uh, engineers are not good at dealing with
customers.
BOB SLYDELL: You physically take the specs from the customer?
TOM: Well, no, my, my secretary does that, or, or the fax.
BOB SLYDELL: Ah.
BOB PORTER: Then you must physically bring them to the software people.
TOM: Well...no. Yeah, I mean, sometimes.
BOB SLYDELL: Well, what would you say… you do here?
TOM: Well, look, I already told you. I deal with the goddamn customers so the engineers don't have to!! I have people skills!! I am good at dealing with people!!! Can't you understand that?!? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!!!!!!!
Yeah, I guess I'm forgetting that guys can still have NXT matches after being called up. I don't expect him to win the shot, just to have it.
ReplyDeleteAnd you don't have your character get damaged by shitty TV writing.
ReplyDeleteIt was a brilliant move for Jericho and a great idea for WWE to use as an exclusive draw for house shows. I've long advocated that WWE use veterans as house show draws.
Shit, I'd buy a ticket to a house show if Sid or Vader was scheduled to squash some jobber in a three minute match.
Lucha Underground tour is a terrible idea unless it's a very limited set of events in small arenas.
ReplyDeleteWhile the main roster could really use another shot in the arm of new talent, the more important issue is that some of the old guard need to get the fuck out. There's literally no reason to ever see Kane, Big Show, Brock Lesnar*, HHH, or Undertaker wrestle ever again.
ReplyDeleteWe've had Shield, the Wyatt Family, Adam Rose, and a bunch of other guys called up from nXt, but it doesn't feel like the show has changed at all because the top of the card is still clogged with guys who have nowhere else to go creatively and nothing left to offer physically.
*I wouldn't be taking that stance on Brock if he worked more dates, but it just sucks to have the champion off the show for such long stretches.
It'll have it's ups and downs, sure. But that's the entire point of the program -- bring in new talent and build them up. I wouldn't be surprised if main roster folks wouldn't mind going down to NXT to fill in gaps too considering reports that main roster guys are jealous of the creative freedom the NXT talent has.
ReplyDeleteShit, look at Cesaro. If it doesn't affect his payscale, I'm sure he'd rather be in NXT.
Neville has done all he can do down there. He should be first.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great argument. I would remove Lesnar, HHH, and Taker from the list because they collectively wrestle like six times a year (though HHH takes up too much TV time in his authority role).
ReplyDeleteBut Kane and Big Show REALLY have to go. They've been around too long and nobody is paying a dime to see either wrestle in 2015.
If true then I hope there's a plan for each of them already in place (yeah right).
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I can't wait to see how Vince and Dunn bury them.
ReplyDeleteI loved the old Jimmy Hart Saturday Night shows, so hopefully he talks about them.
ReplyDeletePoor Northwestern?!?! They've won 12 of the last 20, which- even though the last two decades is far and away the best they've ever been, and they've had some legit good teams in that time- is fucking pitiful.
ReplyDeleteSo this is a thing: http://cdn3.whatculture.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/John-Cena-Trainwreck-Gif.gif
ReplyDeleteI think TNA's disastrous house show tours in recent years in the States demonstrates that Lucha should put that money in the TV product and just forget about house shows.
ReplyDelete"Say I win! SAY I WIN! YES!!"
ReplyDeleteToo bad it will keep him out of the Hall of Fame. After all, what will children think when they google "John Cena" and that comes up?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Ziggler would've been a better choice for that movie.
The crazy thing is that Show could actually probably draw pretty well on the house show circuit. Jericho has been a great draw by all accounts since if you want to see Jericho (and you could have Show and a few other Attitude era guys for fun) you HAVE to go to the house shows.
ReplyDeleteI dunno...if they start small and just try to book local high school gyms and stuff in the SoCal area, they can start expanding their fan base.
ReplyDeleteDolph 1, Cena 0
ReplyDeleteWell there's a danger in that. It wouldn't affect Cesaro's payscale, but then you'd have people making 225,000 a year on the downside next to people who make 30,000 having matches with each other, which...might be weird. (No idea how much Cesaro makes)
ReplyDeleteHe'd also probably draw well on the monster truck circuit. I'm assuming you saw Halloween Havoc 1995, of course.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, if WWE really want to milk "You have to see Big Show live to see how big he is!", he should only be doing untelevised shows.
Honestly, can you be paid a higher complement than to say you're a sexual athlete in the sack? Dolph Ziggler is probably more of a pimp than Dean Ambrose backstage.
ReplyDeleteA Rock Star Gary revisit of March to WrestleMania IX also made its way to the front page.
ReplyDeleteI go back and forth on this. But when it comes down to it, I'd say I'm of the belief that just about anything (within reason; always exceptions to the rule), if framed in the right context, should be allowed to be used for a wrestling storyline. If we're supposed to hate a character, why shouldn't he be doing despicable things?
ReplyDeletePerfect idea. I'd also be fine with these guys rotating down to nXt and giving the new guys experience working with a veteran instead of working with other rookies.
ReplyDeleteKane has a pretty limited moveset, but to me that just means that he could teach Ascension about how to stretch a few moves into a longer tag match, instead of them just doing squashes in the minor leagues and being expected to miraculously work a 20 minute match when they get called up.
Magnum generated some ridiculous babyface heat. Do I blame him for wrapping his porsche around a telephone pole before getting the world strap or do I blame the Alliance for waiting so long.
ReplyDeleteGood morning. ;-D Do you remember when Sid had the match against HBK at Survivor Series 96 and everybody was cheering for Sid? Even when he attacked Lothario? And they were booing Shawn. And do you know what changed since then? Nothing. :)
ReplyDeleteFascinating. He's incredibly sharp and has a gift for telling backstage stories.
ReplyDeleteOh, I doubt for any main roster guy going to NXT it would be a full-year thing -- perhaps just a month or two to do an angle with a particular wrestler. But it has benefits for both the wrestler and NXT, especially if NXT is going to be a touring brand (a smark city would definitely fill up a 2000-2500 seater to see Cesaro live).
ReplyDeleteYeah he is a really cool dude.
ReplyDeleteWhere can I find this?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say they have to go, but they shouldn't be where they are now. They should probably be bounced down (facing people like Ziggler, Ryback, etc) rather than facing main-eventers all the time. Hell, tag them up and put them in the tag division or something.
ReplyDeleteTime to go die in the midcard. That's too bad; all four are really entertaining.
ReplyDeletehttp://placetobenation.com/history-of-wrestling-podcast-3-wcw-b-shows-with-scott-hudson/
ReplyDeleteThis has been trending on Twitter in the UK the last 24 hours: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/31530522
ReplyDeleteReally? That's shitty. 'Dawn Marie's Fake Wrestler Hostel' shitty.
ReplyDeleteI get this stutter (10 secs of video, then freeze for 10) on Android; PC and PS3 are fine though. It's a quad core tablet, so it's not my device. Just weird how the streams are...
ReplyDeleteI'm struggling to even remember the original line-up of Prong, at this point! I'm sad I never got to see their Cleansing / Rude Awakening line-up. My favourite period of theirs, especially as a huge Killing Joke fan (this is when KJ bassist Paul Raven was in Prong).
ReplyDeleteYeah, if just any morbidly obese guy can claim money from them, this is really going to alert the ambulance chasers.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe not *chasers*. Bad choice of word.
:'(
ReplyDeleteAnd those guys would work on the House Show for a while too, actually. Let them now take the NXT skill set, and learn how to work a big house, and THEN you come up to the main roster Raw and Smackdown, after figuring out a feud or story which seems to work.
ReplyDeleteTNA British Boot Camp star Grado is butthurt because Madonna won't let him use "Like a Prayer" as his entrance music and has been running a social media campaign.
ReplyDeleteI'm no fan of a woman in her mid-50s trying to act like a teenager, but what exactly would she gain from letting a chubby Scottish wrestler use one of her most popular (and in many people's opinions, best) songs?
And why would pro wrestling fans give a shit? This is such a desperate reach for mainstream publicity even Vince thinks it's lame.
Is it fair to say that Big Show, Kane, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Rusev and Bray Wyatt are the eight closest wrestlers the WWE has to being full-time main event talent? Because honestly, there are two people that need to GTFO of that list (Big Show, Kane), one guy who isn't ready (Reigns), one guy who's stale as moldy bread (Cena) and another guy who's still a bit one-dimensional (Rusev). When you look at it from that perspective, no wonder the product is ice cold: the shit people 'pay money to see' is bankrupt.
ReplyDeleteThe scene is pretty funny... she asks him to talk dirty to her... and he just starts talking about himself in the gym.
ReplyDeleteGood point. Kind of like quarterbacks in the NFL being expected to play at an elite level their first year. Most don't live up to expectations, but look at a guy like Aaron Rodgers; he's probably the best QB in the league, and he sat for a couple of years as a backup, learning the game and getting used to the league before he had to carry the team.
ReplyDeleteHey!
ReplyDelete*looks at name*
Damn it.
I was just about to make a post along these lines. I would say Reigns, Wyatt, Rollins and Rusev are not main event talent yet. Orton should be in that group with Cena and Bryan.
ReplyDeleteThat's my fear. A tour is financially risky, and it may be too soon for LU to be taking risks.
ReplyDeleteThis is gonna be the new "Hitler Reacts To..." meme.
ReplyDeleteForgot all about Orton, considering how long he's been out. I think Rollins is main event level now after the Rumble for certain. Wyatt SHOULD'VE been in the main event, but the Cena program killed his upward momentum. Rusev is probably about to endure the same fate, sadly.
ReplyDeleteCompare that to late 1999 when you had Austin, Rock, Foley, Taker, Triple H, and 15 years younger versions of Kane and Big Show.
ReplyDeleteI hope they give Finn a chance to try out his intro at Mania, even if it is only in a Battle Royale.
ReplyDeleteYes. Saying that would be like saying a major league baseball team isn't bringing up its top prospect because they're worried how the minor league team will do without him.
ReplyDeleteI love Balor, but I can't shake the feeling that entrance will die a death in front of a non-nXt, casual fan crowd.
ReplyDeleteNah, I don't think Rollins could be considered for that group yet. He's basically a chicken-shit heel without any sort of defining moment.
ReplyDeleteOriginal line-up was Victor, Mike Kirkland (bass) and Ted Parsons (drums). That was during Primitive Origins, Force Fed and Beg to Differ (I bought a t-shirt with with the BTD album cover on it at the concert).
ReplyDeleteRemember when people would claim Ambrose was a main eventer because he
ReplyDeletejobbed in the last match of two PPV’s? They don’t do that anymore. Poor Dean.
You could slot almost anyone (Sheamus or Luke Harper, for instance) into Kane and Big Show's slots and there wouldn't be a difference in ratings, house show draws or merch.
ReplyDeleteThe only album of Prong's that I'm not really a huge fan of was Power of the Damager. Didn't really do it for me. Scorpio Rising was kind of weak as well but I liked it better than POTD. Really like the newest albums, Carved into Stone and Ruining Lives.
ReplyDeleteDo you have to see Sheamus in person to appreciate how big he is?
ReplyDeleteThat's not really the point, though. Individually it might not make a difference, but creating a fresh product over time will help improve things all around.
ReplyDeleteTo appreciate just how ginger his hair is!
ReplyDeleteI'm saying it'd be a good thing.
ReplyDeleteVince: He's Irish, right? Tell him to dye his hair red!
ReplyDeleteHHH: It's already red, Vi....
Vince: DAMMIT DYE IT REDDER!
I'd be very surprised if that match goes on last.
ReplyDeleteCan't you add Bray to the moldy bread category too?
ReplyDeleteSimple, get some wannabe Teen Idol twat to "cover" the song, and come out to that instead.
ReplyDeleteZayn and Balor will be booked as a flamboyantly gay couple. The sole reason for this is so Vince and Dunn can refer to them as the "Fag Team Champions" in a meeting and then burst out laughing.
ReplyDeleteThey're at a point where the current crop of midcarders are a total wash. It's clear Ziggler is never breaking through and most others have cycled through the IC title and tag belts for three or four years. The only guy who's been there a while and still has time on his side is Cody Rhodes. It's clear Vince has decided most of the boys simply don't want it enough.
ReplyDeleteMagnum 100%. But that's life, honestly.
ReplyDeleteThey did the same Kevin Feige reacts to Spider-Man returning to the MCU. That was hilarious shit too. I love this new react meme.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since my last NBA rant. I'll do a quickie (I haven't watched as much as I should have in the last 2 months other than the Wizards).
ReplyDeleteGoran Dragic wants out of Phoenix.
This is kind of a surprise to me, but a huge boon for many other teams. PHX really put themselves in some bad positions through out the years with terrible trades based on Robert Sarver's cheapness. I don't think I ranted on those on the BoD, but PHX did some illogical and terrible trades. Quick rundown, trading away Joe Johnson when he was the 3rd/4th option with Nash, Amar'e, and the Marion. Trading away old man Kurt Thomas (who was their only big man other than Amar'e) to the Sonics, but giving up 2! 1st round draft picks only to get a 2nd rounder back and 8 million in trade exception/off salary to avoid paying the less expensive tax back in 2007. The only great thing they did recently was to trade Nash to the Lakers also for 2! 1st round draft picks.
The funny thing is that PHX traded for Isiah Thomas in case Dragic walked. But by signing him, they instead guaranteed it as PHX is running a very strange 3 PG offense with 1 PF and 1 C usually. It's really too bad that PHX (accidentally in this case) screwed up, because Dragic and Bledsoe were killing people last year. PHX is in a big rut because they have enough talent to be good, but nowhere near good enough to get past the insanely loaded West. They have to hope that SA gets old, OKC will fall apart from free agency soon, and Dallas gets old to have a shot. Not to mention, NO is up and coming, GS will be a powerhouse for at least 3 more years, Portland is hitting their peak in 2-3 years, HOU is starting to be a top tier contender if Harden can carry them (and Howard pouts to plays defense and rebounds like he should be instead of trying to post up with no moves). OKC is very likely to still be around even if they only lose 1 of their stars. PHX is caught in no-man's land. I don't feel sorry for Sarver, but losing an exciting team is always a bad thing.
Wizards slipping down the ranks.
The Wizards are down to the 5th seed. But that's okay! They've played a brutal stretch of games where there were 3 or 4 back-to-backs on long road trips. They've played .500 ball for that, which is pretty good all things considering. The bigger issue is that Gortat has dropped off a lot mid-season, the offense has slowed down from the 3pt barrage last year (losing Ariza hurt as expected, and Pierce can't replace him at this point of his career, along with Webster being hurt until now basically), Miller has had a bad season backing up Wall, and Beal has taken a step back (due to injuries and getting lost in the offense). Wizard's strength of hitting long 2's is now a weakness as Nene and Gortat are not hitting those shots anymore, along with force feeding the post with Gortant to less success than last year, and less of the offense designed for Beal. Beal is now out again with another stress fracture. This is a worry as Beal has missed time with stress fractures already in his career. Beal will also be offered a contract extension at end of the year so he doesn't go to RFA, and then UFA the year after that. Wizards gambled on Wall (back when he was injured all the time), and won. I hope the same thing happens with Beal. Right now, I think the Wizards are likely to go out in the 2nd round again, but as with all Playoffs basketball, it's up to the matchup.
Vince didn't pay for all those ice packs to sit around unused. He needs veterans, dammit!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Bray and Bo acknowledged as brothers on screen. Run an angle where Bray reveals they are related, and that Bo's ultra-cheesy motivational character was just a desperate creation of a boy who wanted to get away from his weird family. Bo was just as weird, but tried to be what he thought popular culture would WANT him to be. Bray tries to lure him back to unite the 'real wyatt family,' Bo develops a 3-dimensional character, and Bray has something specific to do that has a purpose and motivation.
ReplyDeleteI think with today's audience that guys are never permanently damaged. They could easily build-up a handful of guys at the drop of a hat if they wanted to. Just look at Ziggler from Survivor Series. They could've built him up huge, but decided not too.
ReplyDeleteWell he dropped out of the main event to do Weekend Update
ReplyDeleteOh this is the most boring, uninteresting crop of top talent since, like, 1996? Or Smackdown in 2004.
ReplyDeleteI know, I just like them.
ReplyDeleteIRS needs to appear, too.
ReplyDeleteMadonna still owns the song though.
ReplyDeleteClassic or clusterf***:
ReplyDeleteGoldust, Cody Rhodes, Dusty Rhodes vs. Bray Wyatt, Bo Dallas, IRS
My new gym doesn't ask for an ID for a membership, they just ask your name and print it on a card. Anyway, I'm Johnny Dakota now.
ReplyDeleteSlow news day across the pond, huh?
ReplyDeleteI go by Les. Les Vegetables.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't get busted smoking weed in the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteYes.
ReplyDeleteWas that from her show? Or just a shop?
ReplyDeleteMine made us take a picture for their computers so when you scan in they can prove it's you. I made a bitter beer face. I get a nice chuckle from the employees every time I scan in.
ReplyDeleteThere's no hope with dope!
ReplyDeleteSheamus' arms are about a foot too short.
ReplyDeleteJohnny Chimpo?
ReplyDeleteI find it riotous that a second-tier PG like Dragic is demanding to go to LAL, NY or MIA. Sorry pal, midcarders don't pick their spots. I have to think since almost all of these are non-starters he just wants to hit the open market.
ReplyDeleteHow about trading Rondo to Boston for nothing because they didn't want to pay a first round pick? Sure we weren't sure what Rondo was at the time, but they literally gave him away.
ReplyDeleteI also love all the SI and ESPN puff pieces: "How cool is this? They've got 3 PGs on the floor and winning! They're redefining the game!" Yeah, well it turns out the 3 PGs fucking hate it because guess what? There's only one basketball. That doesn't work long term.
I like to believe the Bellas are up for some twincest stuff.
ReplyDeleteI think it's because singing along with his entrance is literally 90% of this guy's entertainment factor. He's the fucking worst.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was (not very clearly) getting at. They seem to have decided against pushing any of the current crop properly.
ReplyDeleteis this taking place in WWE or NXT? WWE= Cluster NXT = Classic
ReplyDelete...and when she says "you're just talking about yourself" he climaxes.
ReplyDeleteI legit LOL'd at a few different lines in that preview. I've grown wary of Apatow's stuff the last few years, but if Amy Schumer helped with the script, it could be good shit when you add Hader to the cast.
It's not that easy though. The writers and publishers of the original would have likely have to give the okay, and one of the original writers was Madonna.
ReplyDeletePlus they'd have to pay songwriting royalties. I doubt TNA wants to waste that kind of money. Heck, why do you think WWE edits out Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, and all the other entrance music on the Network/WWEs?
Does it get better when Vince leaves? That is the big question. I say definitely.
ReplyDeleteA new Blur album in April? Well hot damn, sign me up!
ReplyDeleteJust realized Billy Gunn is sitting right behind Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell in the scene at the Knicks game in "The Other Guys". What's up with that? Was he a paid extra or just at the game?
ReplyDeleteIt was stupid. It's the equivalent of having two quarterbacks in the backfield. "Oh, but look how creative we can get!"
ReplyDeleteHope to Christ the C's dont trade for Dragic. They are better off not going that route.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised he doesn't like Phoenix. If there's any place I could choose to live it would be that area.
ReplyDeleteThat Scott Hudson interview on p2b is awesome. Highly recommend anyone here check it out. Fucking love that site.
ReplyDeleteNets looking to trade Brook Lopez for Reggie Jackson
ReplyDeleteThanks brother! Balances out the irrational hate from yesterday ;)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Boot Camp or ICW. He looks annoying though.
ReplyDeleteThunder won't want to pay all that money though would they?
ReplyDeleteI don't know. His methods appear to have become increasingly erratic and I do feel there'd be more consistent long-term planning without his presence. The man doesn't trust his instinct any more.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, he's an even shittier version of the Sandman.
ReplyDeleteVintage Wildcat!!!
ReplyDeleteMr. October?
ReplyDeleteWhat happened?

ReplyDeleteI posted this in reply to a comment below, but it's too good (and relevant...gotta watch the whole thing) to risk being lost in the shuffle. NSFW language intact...
It sounds really good. Stuff like the C-shows is nerdy stuff I’d love to hear about. All the big stuff has been talked about to death. I'll try and check it out later.
ReplyDeleteOur old friend Jawas from the old split-off Blog of Doom claimed he hated us because our stuff is pimped here, or something like that.
ReplyDeleteAnd then he voted in the 90s tournament!
Dragic and Bledoe are fine. Adding Thomas was just ridiculous, and it created the situation that PHX was trying to get insurance on. PHX is truly something else when it comes to front office moves. Like only Philly and Brooklyn are worse.
ReplyDeleteRight now - clusterfuck , with time machines - classic
ReplyDeleteLooks like they are trying to dump Perkins on someone for the deal to work out.
ReplyDeleteBrook Lopez is just a guy I can't get behind. Just don't like him as a player and think he's soft Plus, he was a dick to me.
