Do you know why we're not getting Taker/Sting? It's not that I actually want that match but it's had an underground pulse for years. Then finally Sting comes in an it's for Hunter? My theory, HHH (believe it or not) is a lot easier to get to job at the point and put Sting over than Taker. But it's just weird that for years we all expected Sting/Taker and then they pass it up.
No, no, you're all confused. I'm pretty sure they told us that what we actually wanted to see all these years is HHH v. Sting. Remember when DX fired the first shot in the Monday Night Wars? That was HUGE!
I dislike some of the ego stuff HHH's done, but this strikes me more as everyone looking at Taker's beaten down body, watching the stuff Sting was doing in TNA, and figuring if they put the two of them together, they would create a stinker of a match.
ReplyDeleteAt least by putting HHH with Sting, (and to an extent, Taker with Wyatt), you have the chance of the match not going into negative star ratings. Plus I'll be shocked if Flair doesn't end playing a role as well, which would be sort of interesting.
Did they know Undertaker was willing to do Wrestlemania when they brought Sting in? I think an Undertaker appearance was still up in the air in November when they decided to start an angle with Sting.
ReplyDeleteI'll quit my Network sub if Sting isn't counting lights the night of WM.
ReplyDeleteRef? Or just involved in the build
ReplyDeleteI have zero interest in Sting/HHH. Does anyone? legit question. Seems like a gigantic waste of Sting's first WWE match.
ReplyDeleteFirst? Try only.
ReplyDeleteOnly if we get to see multiple versions of Sting through the years...and Hunter too - ala that one feud I can't remember.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in it for "historical reasons," as Sting's probably only WWE match. And I would guess HHH would book a decently entertaining match for them, maybe a street fight or something.
ReplyDeletei hope sting jobs to HHH, i mean the IWC will go bananas .. i can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteWhy are they giving us Lesnar/Reigns? Why were they so close to putting on Orton/Batista last year? WWE doesn't care what people actually want to see.
ReplyDeleteLesnar/Reigns is a case of the guy being green, not adjusting the plan from him losing momentum from injury and being given terrible lines more than an outright bad idea. I'm not saying it's the correct plan, but there are caveats.
ReplyDeleteOrton/Batista was an outright bad idea.
The HHH vanity match series is even more prestigious than the streak. Just ask CM Punk, Scott Steiner, Booker T, Sheamus...
ReplyDeleteIt's actually the only match I'm interested in, but I've always been a huge Sting fan. Taker/Sting is undoubtedly the dream match, but I prefer Sting/HHH since they can work a formula face/heel match and Trips is more likely to get a good match out of Sting.
ReplyDeleteYa'll know how Hogan makes up stuff just for fun? I think HHH is serious when he says these things. Like he actually believes it.
ReplyDeleteI think the idea is that they need to have a watchable match. Anyone who saw Sting in TNA the last few years knows he's not exactly in his prime anymore, to put it nicely. And Undertaker is the most broken down old man in wrestling. Triple H can carry Sting to a watchable match. Undertaker and Sting together would have been a fun buildup until they got into the ring and then it would have been "bowling shoe ugly" as JR likes to say.
ReplyDeleteSo pair Sting up with someone who can carry him (HHH) and pair Taker up with someone who can basically wrestle himself and put on a show (Bray) and you have 2 decent matches instead of 1 shit match.
Besides, if they really want to do it, they could always do it next year, in what will likely be Taker's retirement match in Texas.
I'm really not sold on HHH. He's 45 and hasn't wrestled in a year. He stopped then cause he got injured. Also, he looked a tad flabby at Fastlane so I'm not sure he's in wrestling shape. We may have a repeat of Rock at the Rumble.
ReplyDeleteI disagree that Bray is capable of carrying Taker to a decent match. He certainly hasn't shown that ability to this point, but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as someone explains to me why I should even try and remotely even care about a Sting/Taker match, or a Sting/anyone match, or a Taker/anyone match, let me know.
ReplyDeleteOk ok. If Flair aligns himself with Sting before the match, I may get interested for the inevitable turn.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who thinks Sting/WCW is going over HHH/WWE are going to be disappointed
ReplyDeletePeople really don't care all that much.
ReplyDeleteSting-Taker had no basis in reality, just a bunch of fan theories based on the supernatural aspects of the two characters (and for Sting, really, just his Crow phase, which made up a very small percentage of his career). There was never any ACTUAL proposal for Sting-Taker, just a bunch of us imagining things.
ReplyDeleteI still don't get this burning desire for anyone to want to watch sting/UT. they're basically both career faces and over 50. to me, HHH vs sting is as good as anyone I suppose. I have no desire to watch any of them wrestle again personally
ReplyDeleteDid Sting ever wrestle HHH as Terra Ryzing or whatever his WCW name was? It would be funny if he squashed him on WCW worldwide in 1994.
ReplyDeleteThey got Sting into a contract, the dude wants to have a WrestleMania moment. WrestleMania moment generally means a win. Who do you put him in the ring with? Why not sacrifice Triple H in an "old timers" match on the biggest show of the year? I may have little interest in Sting-Triple H, but I have even less interest in any other WWE on the roster right now LOSING to Sting at Mania.
ReplyDeleteLet Trips do the job. Who cares?
Let's just be glad they didn't stick him in a handicap match vs Kane and the big show
ReplyDeleteHHH has shown when needed, he can go.
ReplyDeleteGranted, alot of his recent matches has relied on storytelling and pyschology (pysch is a good thing) but they have mainly delivered even if it didnt give the right person winning
Any guesses on whether this is a work or not?

Sting vs. Taker would have been a train wreck of epic proportions five years ago. This year it would have been an 11 on the unintentional comedy scale. Much happier it's HHH, even if, as Scott said, the storyline is overly smug and self-serving. Match has the chance to be passable and an outside shot at *** range.
ReplyDeleteBecause the amount of bella, whistles and hair dye required to make them both look threatening would be off the charts. Neither of them can be on television weekly because you'll see how broken down they both are.
ReplyDeleteMy completely speculative guess - Brock's going to main event Wrestlemania, big money match, and there's all this byllshit with Network buys not going to the talent. Brock has the balls and smarts to put up a shit over this.
ReplyDeleteAye. The stressing that it's not creative, so stop bitching about us already.
ReplyDeleteThat or Brock's fucked Vince's granddaughter.
Yeah, they are being paired up with guys who can hopefully have a semi-decent match with them. Sting-UT 2015 would be a disaster.
ReplyDeleteAJ just went off on Steph on twitter.
ReplyDeleteThere's no ulterior motive here, I suspect.
ReplyDeleteThe reason we aren't getting Taker/Sting is because the match would have about the same overall quality as a drunken bar fight between two senior citizens.
Hunter/Harley Race should be good next year.
ReplyDeleteIs HHH Vs. *Anyone* really a Dream Match?
ReplyDeleteWrestlemania, Roman Reigns wields the WWE belt in his fist proudly in the middle of the ring. The WWE ident comes up to herald the end of the show. Zoom in on Reigns.
ReplyDelete"Th-th-th-That's all folks!"
It's all gonna be worth it.
According to sources, Brock and the Undertaker won't be appearing on TV again to build their matches until Wrestlemania. Instead, the wwe plans to have Big Show and Kane appear in Brock and Undertaker masks. When the fans boo the ruse, it will be explained as them "being expressive. Maggle."
ReplyDeleteThe Porkyhouse Roman reigns.
ReplyDeleteShe didn't "go off" so much as "use two tweets to appeal to a fellow woman about the way women are paid and promoted by the company she is the CBO of."
ReplyDeleteProbably not something I would have done in public first, but it's looking and sounding like AJ's ready to move on to running her animal rescue/shelter anyway.
Aj Lee threadjack. @WWEAJLee: @StephMcMahon And yet they receive a fraction of the wages & screen time of the majority of the male roster. #UseYourVoice
ReplyDeleteHHH vs. Vince's balls
ReplyDeleteLOL @ AJ trying to get herself fired. Super mature.
ReplyDeleteShe has her own animal shelter?Christ I lover her more than ever now.
ReplyDeleteWonder if it was about money for the Rumble? Vince claiming the number of buys was negligible, Brock arguing new Network subs should count as buys. Basically the argument everyone's been waiting for someone to have since the Network launched.
ReplyDeleteCole would spend ten minutes stating the obvious and kill it out the gate. "fans have taken to calling big show THE BIG UNDERFAKER because of his current situation imitating the Undertaker.... Fans for those of you just joining us, that is NOT the Undertaker, that is The big show dressed as the undertaker. Again we want to remind our fans that this is NOT the undertaker.... It is the big show dressed as the Undertaker and fans are calling him the big UNDERFAKER on Twitter using hashtag FRAUDMAN
ReplyDeleteShe's doing something with animal rescue. I don't know the exact nature of it, but she definitely started some sort of deal.
ReplyDeleteSteph vs AJ for WM http://giant.gfycat.com/DigitalHeavenlyAmericanbulldog.gif
ReplyDelete"Wait, I thought this whole Reigns thing was a ploy to troll the IWC? I'm actually facing him at Mania...without Bryan?" - Brock Lesnar, last night.
ReplyDeleteIt would be awesome if that happened, and Sting just stops in the middle of the match and murders Flair with the bat whilst shouting about how he's "Not that dumb, Ric!"
ReplyDeleteAnd then there's a ref bump and HBK prances out and...
That sounds like the two recent matches with the great icon HHH
ReplyDeleteFalse. Big Steph gets MORE screen time than 98% of the male roster and makes more than them.
ReplyDeleteHHH vs HHH
ReplyDeleteThose stupid ass Monday Night War revisions make me hate DX, especially the limp noodle version without HBK, for taking credit for shit they didn't do. If your'e going to say DX swung everything don't pretend it was some shit Billy Gunn had anything to do with. Austin's such a chill guy that doesn't give a fuck, but he should've called out Triple H on his interview, "Hey, I never knew that you and DX were single-handedly carrying WWF back in the 90s and I was a midcarder, but that's what the Network told me."
ReplyDeleteThey're obviously holding out for next year for that big match feel for WM in Cowboys Stadium or w/e it's called. Which is insane the way taker is aging year after year.
ReplyDeleteHHH vs Vince for control of the company in a shoot match is a dream match in my opinion.....
ReplyDeleteI'm in the camp that says Sting/UT would be horrible at this point. People were saying it wouldn't have been good in 2011. At least then it would've had the streak on the line.
ReplyDeleteGod, UT-Sting would be atrocious nowadays.
ReplyDeleteYeah because HHH never ever puts over anybody at Mania....
ReplyDeleteUT vs Sting in 2015 would make Vince/Bret from a few years ago look like Steamboat/Flair...
ReplyDeleteWe're not getting Taker/Sting or, say, BRAY WYATT vs Sting (which seems like a natural pairing) because HHH wants to make sure that he takes place in anything that's "hot".
ReplyDeleteSting coming in is a hot angle (well, as hot as it could be). Daniel Bryan was hot with the Yes! movement. Summer of Punk 2 was hot.
HHH sucked heat from them all.
I think next year they bring back Austin for the big match there and I think Taker has a retirement match on the same card. Hell we might even get that Ryback vs Goldberg dream match weve all been waiting for...
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing they want him to do more appearances than he was originally slotted for but not compensate him for it.
ReplyDeleteBray isnt getting the match out of Sting that HHH will, and love him or hate him, HHH has more currency in the wrestling world then boring ass Bray Wyatt...
ReplyDeleteTHE BALL TO END IT ALL!!!
ReplyDeleteI have no clue what could possibly lure Austin back at this point, assuming he'd even want to come back. He's been pretty quick to shoot down any questions about him wrestling again lately, which is a complete 180 from the "I feel like I could work a full time schedule for 3-6 months" he was tossing out there a year or two ago. I think he would have come back for Punk, but Punk's gone, Austin's a year or two older and the window's probably closed. Austin's made it clear he's not gonna come back and wrestle a subpar match for no reason simply to collect a check.
ReplyDeleteYou know all of the questions Vince and HHH will answer on air are vetted beforehand, yeah? That HHH isn't (and shouldn't, as a matter of sound business) put himself in a position to get cornered and be forced to shittalk his own employer?
ReplyDeleteHHH vs. Alex Wright. The rematch the world has been waiting 21 years to see!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds a lot like hhh-ut 1 and 2. Just replace punch and kick with hitting finishers and throwing chairs.
ReplyDeleteBret Hart for the save!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, shit... they wouldn't. Would they?
They beat the friggin screwjob into the ground. They'll probably find some way to bash WCW.
