Daniel Bryan Update

Despite not being booked on RAW or Smackdown this week, Bryan is still booked for this coming weekend's house shows. (It should be noted that Meltzer himself did not expect Bryan to make these dates but he is still booked for the shows at the moment).

Paul Heyman Update

Right now the plan for Heyman is to return to WWE TV in July, likely so he can hype up Brock Lesnar's match at SummerSlam.

Eric Bischoff to Work for Global Force Wrestling?

At a Q&A Session this past weekend for Preston City Wrestling. Bischoff (who was with Jeff Jarrett) was asked by Karen Jarrett if he would be working for GFW at any point. Bischoff and Jeff Jarrett both said yes and that they are in the early stages of planning at this point.

  1. To the last one:

  2. Are you fucking kidding me??? Is there anyone that can start a new promotion that doesn't have Bischoff or Russo involved??

    ReplyDelete
  3. It's really strange. Who are some new wrestling writing minds that weren't around 10-15 years ago? The writer for NXT and maybe some of the Lucha Underground guys?

    ReplyDelete
  4. The wrestling industry is in dire need of some new thinkers. It's been years and Jarrett, Bischoff and Russo are still dominating talks of any new promotions. Part of the reason NXT works so well is because it feels new and fresh, despite being part of WWE. Rehashing the same ideas with the same workers and bookers isn't going to work. If anything, it'll make starting a new promotion even less desirable to other networks, sponsors and backers.

The Reigns Train is now departing Chicago. It was rough going at first but it looks like he won over the tough Chicago crowd and touched their hearts.

Onward and upward towards winning the WWE title.

    CHOO-CHOO!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Mediocre show last night. Tag match was really fun but main event fell flat. That shit with Kane is just a huge lol

    ReplyDelete
  7. Rather than blah, blah, blah, I stand by my belief that the new thinkers will step forward to start wrestling companies once Vince is gone and the WWE gets scaled down.

    ReplyDelete
  8. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 27, 2015 at 7:41 AM

Reason #486 why Chicago is better than Philly:

Chicago can be won over if you work hard. Philly would have just ignored Roman's good match and booed just to boo because "Derp, derp, derp! He's not hardcore! Vince thinks he's a main Eventers! Boo!!! Why aren't they hitting each other with light tubes?"

    ReplyDelete
  9. That could be the case. Vince has been at the top so long, others might have just accepted that until he's gone.

    ReplyDelete
  10. The whole trope of Philly fans only wanting violence is so played out. The only violent promotion left in Philly is CZW, who can't even draw 200 people.

    ReplyDelete
  11. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 27, 2015 at 7:44 AM

True. I was more mocking the "smarkier than thou" Philly mindset.

    ReplyDelete
  12. As much as I enjoy NXT and the wrestling of years past, maybe it's just time I admit the product is not for me anymore and move on. It's clear they have no interest in booking for actually wrestling fans and no other promotion works for me. As much as I like the NXT product I know those guys will just become cold as the North Pole once promoted and in most cases die a quick and boring death.

    ReplyDelete
  13. See you in the RAW discussion thread!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah there are definitely still some ECW mutant leftovers and even worse, younger fans who wish they could've been part of the ECW crowds who are insufferable.

    ReplyDelete
  15. No doubt! However I haven't watched Raw since Mania and doubt I will. I always come to the site....you guys never fail to entertain

    ReplyDelete
  16. Given the way Sheamus threw Ziggler around last night, I wouldn't be surprised if he had caused Bryan's (possible) concussion.

    ReplyDelete
  17. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 27, 2015 at 7:48 AM

It feels like Philly cheers what's smarky accepted as cool now, regardless of what they see.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ziggler might have E. coli after last night

    ReplyDelete
  19. Cena vs Orton,one more timeApril 27, 2015 at 7:49 AM

    Eire coli?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Looks at this. Seems reckless to me: https://twitter.com/SenorLARIATO/status/592484895261339648

  21. Just watched Extreme Rules. Not that great of a show. The stipulations hurt the matches more than they helped. The main event was very disappointing as well. The tag match, Reigns/Show, and Diva's match exceeded expectations but the chain match was a major disappointment and just a dumb stipulation to use if you wont let guys beat the shit out of each other with the actual chain.

    ReplyDelete
  22. WWE is a corporate company. How many times you see an employee that should be further up the ladder but not because the higher ups either don't want to give the bump up and/or they have someone else in mind whether it's deserving or not? Best example is Dean Ambrose. The office views him as a mid carder even though he's still over despite the horrid booking he's been subject to. Pre-monopoly Armbrose would be further up the card as a Roddy Piper clone. Post-monopoly, he's a mid carder and by God that's what he'll be!

    ReplyDelete
  23. So who does everyone think will win the King of the Ring on Tuesday? Rusev would be a good choice, but it seems like a waste since he will just be losing to Cena again in 3 weeks. Maybe Reigns gets it, as they continue to rebuild him. Ambrose would be cool, and it would be amusing to have him do the lunatic gimmick while wearing a crown and robe.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I like how they introduced the finals of the tournament before the actual tournament itself. Brilliant.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Have you tried watching Lucha Underground? People are raving about how good it is week to week. TNA has also stepped up their game in the last year or so. NJPW is constantly great. PWG is an awesome independent company that releases a DVD once a month. ROH has a pretty good weekly TV show and good PPVs. Plus, with the WWE Network, you can get your NXT fix and watch older wrestling. There really is a lot of options out there currently.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Scott D'more has a pretty good rep, then you have Sapolsky. Then there are a ton of retired wrestlers that could probably do as good a job as Bischoff. Hell even Tommy Dreamer has a pretty good rep with his Hardcore shows.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Kane and Big Show are the middle managers who are in a position of prominence solely because they've been there so long that the company needs to justify why they are paid so much.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sapolsky is the single most overrated wrestling mind in the past 20 years.

    ReplyDelete
  29. PG hurt Extreme Rules more than anything.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah I missed the initial announcement and then saw someone's tweet scroll the bottom of the screen mentioning it, and I was confused. Why not just make the Payback show in 3 weeks King of the Ring?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I can't really buy that argument. Extreme Rules had a great show in 2012 and WWE has had plenty of great gimmick matches under the PG rating.

    ReplyDelete
  32. His RoH booking was very dicey. Went with Xavier as the RoH champ, didn't see anything in Bryan, pushed acts like Danny Maff, the "Pure Wrestling" garbage that bored everyone to tears, among other things.

    ReplyDelete
  33. A chain match is useless in a PG format though. And the main event stips were just retarded. Orton makes a stip then HHH makes Kane the guardian or whatever he was called. And Orton does nothing to mention how he got screwed out of that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cena vs Orton,one more timeApril 27, 2015 at 7:59 AM

You don't get it man, they're telling stories.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's like they heard people asking for KotR to return so they did it in the dumbest way possible so it doesn't get any traction. Why even have it all if you don't spend a week or two building it

    ReplyDelete
  36. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©April 27, 2015 at 8:00 AM

But you must remember, when Cena started to bleed, the match had to be stopped.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Agreed. You may as well have a strap match where you can at least get a reaction out of the smacks.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Depends on if they take on the King gimmick. I agree w/Rusev but they are dedicated to killing him off once and for all. Maybe Barrett?

    ReplyDelete
  39. It feels like Reigns. They just need to be careful and not have Reigns face off with Ziggler or Neville in the Finals because the crowd might boo him again.

    ReplyDelete
  40. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©April 27, 2015 at 8:01 AM

WWE logic: one of the worse in the world.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Ambrose only if they drag him to the ring in crown and cape on a carpet towed by a quad like Wee-Man in Jackass.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think the lack of finishers in the cage match hurt it a bit too, since the matches are always so dependent upon attempting and reversing finishers. The RKO being banned in the storyline coinciding with the real ban of the Curb Stomp eliminated some of the drama, as Orton got just one near fall off of the Pedigree and I don't think Rollins had a single believable near fall, as he has no established finisher at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  43. They might as well have the bracket be Roman Reigns and 7 heel jobbers.

    ReplyDelete
  44. A week or 2 of qualifying matches followed by the actual tournament.

    ReplyDelete
  45. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©April 27, 2015 at 8:05 AM

Yeah, at least the last time they had it in 2010, they actually built it up for a week.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Rorschach's JournalApril 27, 2015 at 8:06 AM

Reigns v. Sheamus in the finals might be a good idea, if they were even REMOTELY going about this the right way.

But you've got a senile old man, his inept, idiot daughter and her narcissistic, egotistical husband running the show, all to varying degrees. The Good Ship TITANSPORTS is heading for an iceberg, and no one in charge seems to give a fraction of a fuck about doing anything to stop it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 27, 2015 at 8:06 AM

    Tsar Rusev

    ReplyDelete
  48. Roman Reigns vs Kane, Roman Reigns vs Big Show, and Roman Reigns vs.... uhh, I don't think people would cheer Sheamus.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Luckily, the WWE has plenty of those.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Barrett would make a good King, but only if they have him actually win some matches afterwards.

    ReplyDelete
  51. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©April 27, 2015 at 8:08 AM

Why would you hire Bischoff in 2015, given his track record with several companies?

    ReplyDelete
  52. How cool would it be if they debut Finn Balor and have him win the King of the Ring. King Balor would reign supreme!

    ReplyDelete
  53. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©April 27, 2015 at 8:09 AM

    The Demon King reigns supreme!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I went to bed early last night after a busy weekend and woke up to the most joyous news in the longest time ever!

    TAG TEAM GOLD!!!

    IT'S A NEW....DAY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sheamus is one of the few heels who would actually get booed against Roman, and probably have a good match with him as well.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Adam Rose, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel, Xavier Woods, Konnor, Viktor and Fandango. Just have Reigns spear and punch people for 2 hours.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Make it 63 jobbers. Why be subtle about it?

    ReplyDelete
  59. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 27, 2015 at 8:12 AM

    Woods is glorious right now.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Sheamus was the best King of the Ring winner ever. He had that AMAZE-balls outfit, too!

    ReplyDelete
  61. The Trios title final last week told one of the best stories I've seen in a wrestling show in the past few years. That and it gave us the Spot of the Year.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That's getting over, STOP IT. PAL.

    ReplyDelete
  63. It'd play of his Prince name very well too. Like he's ascended to the throne.

    ReplyDelete
  64. You want wrestling fans to stay away from Day One?

    Wait, that's Russo.

Rephrase: You just want wrestling fans to stay away.

  67. Yeah right. They'd call him King Finn, Big Steph would start calling him King Fish and that would be it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Rollins: The RKO will be banned!

Orton: Fine. It's now 7 on one handicap match. My partners will be Ryback, Ziggler, Sting, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and John Cena. Anyone on my team pins you, I win the title.

    ReplyDelete
  69. "Ween" Dean AndrewsApril 27, 2015 at 8:23 AM

A shout-out to Therapy? who are still killing it live.

Anyone in Europe considering seeing them, I strongly recommend it. My throat is completely fucked from singing along and I love it.

Extreme Rules was best non-WM PPV since Summerslam last year.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm pretty sure CZW can draw 1000+

I only remember this because I was revolted when I read it.

    ReplyDelete
  71. It's a great way to build feuds too. Two guys either battle in qualifying or in the tournament and you have an instant feud.

    Only $9.99!!

That seems like an absolutely retarded statement, but I can't disprove it off the top of my head.

    Survivor Series maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  78. If it was the best ppv since Summerslam 2013, then why the hell are ANY of you still watching this promotion.

Just checked PPVs list and I definitely enjoyed it more than NOC, HIAC, TLC&S, SurSer, RoyRum or Toilet Stop.

I'm genuinely fascinated to learn now which of these I'm supposed to think is better around here.

    ReplyDelete
  83. "Ween" Dean AndrewsApril 27, 2015 at 8:36 AM

Survivor Series? One good match and a bunch of filler on the undercard, including an endless Authority promo? Nah, that's retarded.

    ReplyDelete

I don't know if anybody noticed last night, but The Ryback appears to be over again.

    ReplyDelete
  85. That was a typo, and I fixed it.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I have no idea--I didn't watch any of them other than survivor series and the Rumble.

Rock-Em some-em might be right--that just seems impossible but maybe that's the shit streak they are on.

Anyone who did watch every show willing to chime in?

    ReplyDelete
  87. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 27, 2015 at 8:45 AM

It's not even really a shit streak. TLC and the Rumble were bad. WM was good. Everything else has been acceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  88. "Ween" Dean AndrewsApril 27, 2015 at 8:46 AM

So, hang on: you're bringing into question which show *I* enjoyed the most of the past 9 months or so, despite not having seen them yourself?

    You're funny.

    ReplyDelete
  89. He's awful, but can't deny he's over with most crowds. Some don't really react to him though

    ReplyDelete
  90. "Ween" Dean AndrewsApril 27, 2015 at 8:47 AM

    I recall differently.

HIAC had everyone moaning forever about the 'ghost'. I can remember at the time saying that I thought it was okay. I can remember being widely told how stupid I was, and that it was a ghost and it was shit SISTER ABIGAIL OUTTA NOWHERE etc.

Toilet Stop had a completely shitty undercard with heatless matches like Stardust v Goldust, then 2 decent main event matches.

NOC I can't even *Remember* except that it had a Cena vs Brock rematch that wasn't as good as the one at Summerslam.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I'm guessing GFW's top angle will be a giant heel stable led by Jeff Jarrett who may or may not be bikers.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Cena vs Orton,one more timeApril 27, 2015 at 8:50 AM

    The slapnuts!

    ReplyDelete
  93. They'll have their potential next big thing ala Monty Brown right in front of their face, and not pit the title on him.

    ReplyDelete
  94. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 27, 2015 at 8:51 AM

I was right there with you on HiaC and was also ridiculed.

    Agree on Fast Lane (choo-choo)

All I remember about NoC was it getting derailed by Roman's injury and a well done Ambrose return.

    ReplyDelete
  95. He's over until he has to stop squashing jobbers. Unless they go full Goldberg, he'll be dead once he starts losing again. That being said, squashing people and winning gets wrestlers over. Who knew?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Main event of the first event will be Jarrett vs Honky Tonk Man in a guitar smash match.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Bro, a Vince Russo will. Get. Eye. Balls. On-the-show.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Yeah: the main thing I remember about NoC is saying, "Okay, so they're building to Roman vs Rollins now, this is just a delay to the match, they'll face each other again at Wrestlemania, I'll bet!"

    Weird how that worked out.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Since Bischoff is likely to be involved now, he'll play us a song like on Impact that one time.

    ReplyDelete
  100. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 27, 2015 at 8:54 AM

Also, easily chantable catch phrase and goofy likable personality.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Its almost like, there are certain things that always work for getting wrestlers over. They should try those more often.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I can't think of a wrestling who has a smaller move set than Ryback other than Reigns.

    ReplyDelete
  103. If 2015 WWE Creative ran the Goldberg angle, they'd have him lose the US Title match to Raven via shenanigans and float around the midcard aimlessly for a few months, then wonder why fans stopped caring about him when they eventually tried to push him again.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Didn't even know there was a PPV last night.

    ReplyDelete
  105. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 27, 2015 at 9:03 AM

Roman and Show broke three stars!

    ReplyDelete
  106. And maybe one side of the outside will be filled with lumberjacks, one side with HLA, one side with rottweilers, and the other filled with the NWO.

    ReplyDelete
  107. That's not impressive. JBL broke a TON of stars in the locker room back in the day.

    ReplyDelete
  108. What you did there? I see it.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Ok I'll give you most of that, but Bryan was always near the top of the card.

    ReplyDelete
  110. If Barrett wants to win matches, maybe he should stop getting concussions and shoulder injuries!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Yes, because I look at the card, I look at the reaction people online and my friends who did watch the show had and I think "surely there has been a better show in 9 months"

    ReplyDelete
  112. I don't know that a ppv where Show and Reigns were the best match is "acceptable."

    ReplyDelete
  113. That's fair! But nope.

    ReplyDelete
  114. It'll be an awesome main event! Because like all old-timers, both of them know that it's not the moves you can do but HOW and WHEN you do them!!!

    ReplyDelete
  115. But also, when he has to go up against better, more over workers, he seems really out of place and can't keep up.
