WWE Looking to Bring in More Independent Stars?
The company is looking to bring in more Indy talent in July. The feeling is that while its a challenge to bring in too many new talents at once, it also helps the talent adapt to the new lifestyle if they are surrounded by others going through the same thing so due to this, they are looking to sign a group of talent every 3-4 months.

Dixie Carter Telling TNA Talent to Ignore Online Reports About Impact's Ratings?
Carter reportedly held a meeting during the most recent Impact tapings, telling them to not believe any online reports about ratings or viewership being down. She is claiming that these websites are not privy to the information the company has and that the overall numbers are better than what is actually being released.

So now we literally have news reports about Dixie telling the TNA talent that everything is fine?
ReplyDeleteTNA is absolutely the gift that keeps on giving to this blog.
TNAMecca must have done some naughty things after reading that last article.
ReplyDeleteDixie is basically Baghdad Bob right now:
ReplyDelete"EVERYTHING IS FINE! WWE IS ON THE RUN FROM US! RATINGS ARE NOT DOWN! WE SHALL RISE UP AND DEFEAT OUR COMPETITION!"
(TNA explodes around her as she's saying all this.)
They haven't seen the news yet, computer filters out anything that could be taken as bad news for TNA.
ReplyDeletesmark smark smark Big Show sucks, glad he's gone smarkity smark smark stay away, dude! Retire smark smark!
ReplyDeleteTNA's attempt to morph into a psychotic cult continues. Except that I doubt any of the wrestlers believe any of it.
ReplyDeleteHE'S A FLYING BUS MIGGAL!
ReplyDeleteLLOL Miggal? JBL have a cold this morning?
ReplyDelete...attempt? Pretty sure they've made it.
ReplyDeleteSo, when they were trying to court Paul Heyman, they just wanted his advice on how to turn the talent into mindless drones who do everything they're told while not being paid?
ReplyDeleteThey've turned their fanbase into a cult, but I just can't see that many of their actual employees do anything but roll their eyes in disgust when Carter comes out with idiocy like this.
ReplyDeleteWhat? Paul's never done anything like that, and I resent your implication.
ReplyDeleteGood day, sir.
I SAID GOOD DAY.
These are wrestlers. Some of them weren't all that sharp to begin with, and it can be easy to allow one's self to become deluded. I mean, they're not scientology or anything, but cult lite maybe? Sure.
ReplyDeleteAnchorman nonsense still applies: "Listen guys, you know those ratings systems are flawed. They don't take into consideration houses with more than two television sets, and other... things of that nature."
ReplyDeleteObviously, they completely ignore more than one TV per block.
ReplyDeleteThey are scientology. They're literally telling people to ignore anything people say from the entire outside world, because THEY know the hidden truths and secrets. Embarrassing. At least Scientology is successful.
ReplyDeleteAs I told Extant below, Dixie is Baghdad Bob:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfAeMtcURg0
Well...I doubt they're locking people in a room and preventing them from seeking medical care, and I don't think they're a glorified pyramid scheme, but I get your point.
ReplyDeleteGo treat yourself to a warm beer, ya wanker.
what in the actual fuck....?
ReplyDeleteNever heard of him?
ReplyDeleteNo sir.
ReplyDeleteCan't drink. If alcohol combines with my new sleeping pills I'll wake up dead. :/
ReplyDeleteLIke the Megadeth song???? Dude! DO IT!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJeff Jarrett's phone must be ringing 24 hours a day.
ReplyDeleteBobby Roode: "Double J. I'm looking to continue my wrestling career outside of TNA. What kind of dog food do you guys pay with?
EC3: "Jarrett, it's me EC3. I'm supposed to be playing a rich kid gimmick, but I haven't been able to cash a paycheck since I left WWE. Any openings for me and my buddy Tyrus?"
Matt Hardy: "Hey Jeff, me and my brother will work for a few lines of coke. Let us know!"
He was Iraq's Information Minister during the time the U.S. invaded Iraq after 9/11. Generally, as Iraq was blowing up around him, he would go on TV and basically spread propaganda about how they successfully repelled the United States military and how we were running away with our tails between our legs and how we suffered a humiliating defeat. It was pretty comical.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many times Hogan thanks god for his legends contract.
ReplyDelete...this is legit? Not like Borat or something?
ReplyDeleteTotally legit. Google him. It's funny stuff.
ReplyDeleteAccording to him, he'll be winning the WWE title in front of 960,000 at AT&T Stadium next year, brother!
ReplyDeletedamn.
ReplyDeleteand yet, we're still in that fucking place.
Ok. Not getting political. Just not gonna.
If he actually wrestles on next year's WM card, I may boycott that fucking event.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know. I'm not saying we should be there. He was a brief moment of levity in an otherwise ill-advised bit of military adventurism.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what Indy talents WWE is looking at. I'm assuming ACH... and while it would be awesome to see him in the big time, I fear he'll wind up resenting the business ala Punk and AJ.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind seeing him in a six-man tag or something. Not a singles match or for the World title.
ReplyDeleteWow, even I remember that guy. It was funny watching him say EVERYTHING IS FINE. The precursor to Fox News.
ReplyDeleteNo, no, I got that. I just felt my ire getting raised and decided against it.
ReplyDeleteEVERYTHING IS FINE! (Explosions) THE INFIDELS ARE ON THE RUN AS WE HAVE REPELLED THEM!!! (More explosions around his ears, chunks of ceiling falling around him)
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDelete"No, ignore the ratings that we would always trumpet about when they'd raise above a 1.2. Now that we're on Destination America, those ratings don't count. We have these, uh, confidential ratings. We can't tell you where we got them or anything; they're confidential. I just assure you EVERYTHING IS FINE."
*returns to fiddling while company burns*
Let's just ignore common sense and say that Dixie is right, that the numbers are being underreported. With DA footing the bill and trying to justify the cost, why WOULDN'T they want the numbers to be at their best?
ReplyDeleteAnd even if we ignore THAT piece of tomfoolery and go with Dixie saying things are good, then why are they taking booking directions from DA? And if DA was making that much money off of it, why would they get upset at filming the overseas tour?
I give them until the summer. At this point they're circling the wagons as they're going down the drain.
He'll be there for sure, but the man can't get medically cleared to wrestle.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, to be fair, it's not as if she can say "find another line of work" publically.
ReplyDeleteHe was AWESOME(ly hilarious).
ReplyDeleteRicochet I hope.
ReplyDeleteAre the arenas not actually half-empty either? Are there actually secret fans hiding behind pillars and lurking in the dark? Are people coming disguised as empty seats?! Tell us, Dixie!
ReplyDeleteHolograms.
ReplyDeleteBut..but..they've got Billy Corgan!
ReplyDeleteBut he does suck...
ReplyDeleteThis guy on the left.
ReplyDeleteI will say one thing that TNA tried that I would've liked to have seen the WWE do: host a card in a minor league ballpark. Make that into a Network special.
ReplyDelete►►►Start PR0FlT with Google at Home-@ny11!!!<-Make A huge profit just doing Simple Tasks....... I thought MSNBC was based on it. Or FOX. Whatever side you aren't on I guess. Even though both are the same at the end of the day
ReplyDeleteI say they copy that Nitro thing where the ring was surrounded by a pool and heels wearing flip-flops jump into the water to escape a babyface's wrath.
ReplyDeleteFuck off, Dixie!
ReplyDeleteThere's middle ground between "don't worry, everything is fine" and "OH SHIT SHIT WE'RE FUCKED ALL OUR SHIT IS FUCKED."
ReplyDeleteTake it from me. A boss lied to me about the future of the company and the only reason I didn't get stuck with a new car payment I couldn't afford on unemployment was because I didn't believe him. In times of strife, silence is better than lies.
Yeah, tomato to-mah-to.
ReplyDeleteDidn't they specifically say a while back that they didn't want to bring in indy talent any more?
ReplyDeleteNot gonna lie. I generally think he's solid.
ReplyDeleteIn the modern day culture of the hipster, it's actually cooler to be a TNA fan and NOT attend the shows (or watch them).
ReplyDelete^Still a better commenter than Abeyance
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about Southern States Wrestling sucking so hard is that they have no problem with putting their own programming on hold for three weeks to air matches from the 70s that they don't own the rights to.
ReplyDeleteNo, no...that was INDIAN talent...Khali was trying to go back to WWE but they said no due to the new policy.
ReplyDeleteWho, despite all his rage, is still just a rat in a cage.
ReplyDeleteI think maybe it was less that they're against Indy talent and more against older Indy talent that are set in their ways and might be resistant to going to NXT.
ReplyDeleteIts a long running joke.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but that was particularly nice.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty "Destination America" is going to be shorthand for "dying promotion" in a couple years. Kind of like "Team Challenge Series," "nWo 2000" and "Justin Credible."
ReplyDeleteWorld Pro Wrestling is my kinda show. Only thirty minutes long, 90% wrestling and 10% post match promos.
ReplyDeleteTNA might've been better off signing with Netflix, Hulu, Yahoo, or Youtube.
ReplyDeleteI mean what is she supposed to say? "Yeah guys the ratings suck, we are totes screwed, you should consider going back to college"
ReplyDeleteThey might have to establish a reputation for credibility first before a big dog would take them seriously.
ReplyDeleteThe latter probably make more money on the indy circuit than in NXT anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'd think that signing with an internet company would be easier than a television network.
ReplyDeleteDon't NXT guys make like 24k a year? That's like 11 - 12 an hour... they could make more at Best Buy.
ReplyDeleteIs it fair to call Hideo Itami a failure?
ReplyDeleteEven before his injury, he had even less presence than Yoshi Tatsu.
I think making up secret ratings that nobody else can see is pushing the "What else is she supposed to say?" concept.
ReplyDeleteYeah it's basically nothing. They can easily do just about anything else and make a better living.
ReplyDeleteLet's try this a different way: What would you say in that position?
ReplyDeleteWho's laughing at Shane Douglas now?
ReplyDeleteEveryone?
ReplyDeleteYou sure that wasn't Indiana talent?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is Lucha Underground has a better chance to end up there as they format is closer to an actual TV show
ReplyDeleteHe was getting better. I'd call him more of a cautionary tale of why you can't just jump directly to WWE. Kinda like Mystico.
ReplyDeleteTNA probably would have been better off streaming on TNA.com,
ReplyDeleteIt was mainly about TNA talents wanting to jump ship
ReplyDeleteThey're in half the homes they used to be in. They have half the ratings. But they have new creative coming in, and plans for the future and let's all work together and here have a cupcake and there's coffee over there and go team whatever. I wouldn't make up bullshit when everyone thinks you have a credibility problem anyway.
ReplyDeleteNakamura is ready for WWE right now.
ReplyDelete"Ratings, while impressive compared to other time slot offerings, are still not where we would like for them to be. Therefore, we're going to do more to get the word out about Impact Wrestling and further develop the brand".
ReplyDeleteVery easy to do.
Unfortunately, I don't see them having any interest in drawing, um, interest, leaving it up to someone else, which was their problem at Spike, but at least Spike had x amount of households, while DA has like x/3.
This is the wrestling business. EVERYBODY has a credibility problem.
ReplyDeleteBigger mistake for TNA?
ReplyDeleteNever bothering to advertise itself?
or
Never developing any new stars since 03?
Is he?
ReplyDeleteThe first one. It's hard to make a star when no one watches.
ReplyDeletei don't know how good are his headlocks ?
ReplyDeleteI think WWE is learning and really, he IS getting better. The injury could be good for him. If I'm HHH and I have this investment, I put him in rehab and in between work outs or what have you, make him take acting lessons and more English lessons. They want actors? That's fine. Let some professionals teach them how to do it.
ReplyDeleteOn the E:60 special it said they make anywhere from 45-100k, I think.
ReplyDelete
