On tap for tonight:
NXT starts at 8pm EST on the WWE Network as we learn whether or not Sami Zayn will be able to compete and next week's live special against Kevin Owens.
The NBA has two games tonight on TNT. At 8pm EST we have the Hawks vs. Wizards while at 10:30pm we have the Grizzlies vs. Warriors.
The NHL has the Capitals vs. Rangers that just got underway over on NBC Sports
Also, there are a full slate of MLB Games, with the Cubs vs. Mets at 8pm EST over on ESPN
And as usual, talk about anything else going on tonight here.

Caps at Rags game 7. If the Caps lose, is it a choke? Caps are the 4th seed, and Rags are the President's Trophy winner.
ReplyDeleteUp 3-1 and losing? yeah, that's a choke.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit, Mad Max at 99% approval rating, 81 out of 82 critics giving it the thumbs up. And a bunch of them are giving it the 3.5-to-4 star treatment, saying it's simply bugfuck awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe Furious franchise lost a ton of characters. Interesting to see what they do for the 8th movie.
ReplyDeleteCaps have a long history of blowing 3-1 leads. It's not a choke but expected.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many they'll make.
ReplyDeleteAs long as they're making a shit Ton of money.
ReplyDeleteRangers are 7-0 in their last 7 game 7s too.
ReplyDeleteAs long as they still make money.
ReplyDeleteMy brother went to and early screening yesterday. He said it was so good that Hollywood should stop making movies
ReplyDeleteAnd have never dropped a GM 7 at the Mecca
ReplyDeleteNice that's awesome to hear. Hope it makes some scratch too.
ReplyDeleteI just can't think of a non-horror franchise that has 7 movies, though Star Wars will have at least 9.
ReplyDeleteKluber has 11k's through 5 innings
ReplyDeleteI'm pulling for the Caps, but if were a betting man I'd have my money on NY.
ReplyDeleteIs Mad Max out yet?
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite description of Mad Max: Fury Road:
ReplyDelete"here’s a movie that feels like it was made by kidnapping $150 million of Warner Bros.’ money, absconding with it to the Namibian desert, and sending footage back to Hollywood like the amputated body parts of a ransomed hostage."
I had little interest in the film until I heard about all the good buzz. Now I have to see it this weekend.
ReplyDeleteYeah I hope it will. It'll fight with week 3 of Avengers but shouldn't lose eyeballs to Pitch a Perfect 2, which will have a massive opening but they're not exactly the audience going to see Fury Road.
ReplyDeleteI watched the F1 race from Sunday earlier and 2 of the cars had an ad for the movie on it, which is not something you normally see in F1. So they are going all out in promoting it.
ReplyDeleteGoogle "Andre the Giant Cat."
ReplyDeleteUm, is that supposed to be a good thing or a bad thing?
ReplyDeleteI was already in at the holy shit visuals and action. Now with the word being the whole movie is legitimately mind blowing shit, I'm just in full HUMINA HUMINA HUMINA mode this weekend
ReplyDeleteYeah I was gonna ask, is this from a good review or a negative review.
ReplyDeleteIt will with word of mouth
ReplyDeleteGood thing, I accidentally cut this part off "In an age of weightless spectacles that studios whittle down from visions to products, "
ReplyDeleteThursday night
ReplyDeleteIs he finally getting a W?
ReplyDeleteI also love that MRAs are freaking out over Fury Road.
ReplyDeleteGawdammit. Need my Hardy fix.
ReplyDeleteAh. I'm not a movie guy and avoid reviews of anything that's not wrestling, so I didn't get it.
ReplyDeleteThe trailers looked fine, I suppose I just expected to be underwhelmed. Now, not so much.
ReplyDeleteSweet merciful shit, the new Supergirl is SO FUCKING CUTE, YOU GUYS.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?t=94&v=Lm46-envrHo
Good review. I edited the post to fix it.
ReplyDeleteI am still not getting the logic here. Something about explosions in the film distracting from the fact that it stars living, breathing women...?
ReplyDeleteShe was really cute in her Fappening photos
ReplyDeleteYeah to be honest the trailers felt really disjointed and didn't do a lot to get me hyped.
ReplyDeleteNot knowing is half the fun!
ReplyDeleteLike Ben Affleck said in Jay & Silent Bob: FICTIONAL CHARACTERS!
ReplyDeleteYeah, but knowing is the other half.
ReplyDeleteRichard Roeper:
ReplyDeleteMay 13, 2015
It speaks volumes for the sheer ferocious awesome insane greatness of "Mad Max: Fury Road" that I'm not even ticked off about Tom Hardy getting stuck wearing a face mask for a good chunk of the film.
Boston Globe
The shock, really, is how tender Mad Max: Fury Road ultimately becomes. The film just wraps that tenderness in one of the most epic action extravaganzas of recent years. It's enough to renew your faith in movies.
AP
Thirty years after Miller gave the world Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, he's returned to his own post-apocalyptic world and created an exceptional, fearless and poetic masterpiece that's primed to become a modern classic.
Wide open...couldn't lift that puck.
ReplyDeleteWe beg to.differ
ReplyDelete- Everyone in G.I. Joe
I'm the other way, I couldn't stop watching them as they came out. I got Avengers level excited for it.
ReplyDeleteooooo...the dialogue sucks...but, yeah, she's cute.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit people are really going gaga over this. Somewhere Brazilian Kid is angry as hell.
ReplyDeleteHers almost look like pro photographers.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of 80s cartoons, how bout that Jem trailer...
ReplyDeleteHot damn, if you're an actress, why would you ever take photos of yourself getting railed?
ReplyDeleteIt's.......there....not enough holograms and Synergy
ReplyDeleteThis is from Greg Berlanti, the guy behind Arrow and Flash, so I have faith. I mean, the fact that it's on CBS makes me worry it's just going to be another procedural for old folks, but I'm remaining cautiously optimistic.
ReplyDeleteConfession: I still haven't seen Avatar.
ReplyDeleteNY daily News
ReplyDeleteStrap in, load up and hang on because "Mad Max: Fury Road" is a freaky, ballsy, phenomenal ride.
5/5
My body is ready to receive this movie.
ReplyDeleteThe cast of Rogue One is looking awesome. Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn and now Diego Luna.
ReplyDeleteIf you missed it in the theater then you won't get the fuss. It had to be seen in big screen 3D
ReplyDeleteSHUT UP MAN.
ReplyDeleteYou are making the wait harder dick bag.
Is it going to be part of the Arrow-verse?
ReplyDeleteStrap in, load up and hang on because "Mad Max: Fury Road" BonzaiDBSM is a freaky, ballsy, phenomenal ride.
ReplyDeleteFTFY
I watched the first half hour and said "fuck this".
ReplyDeleteThat's the highest grossing movie ever, right?
Comes out tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteThey're trying to work out a deal with CBS, but if it doesn't happen, it's basically their fault. Of course, I don't even see what the problem would be, since The CW is a subsidiary of CBS anyway.
ReplyDeleteSi señor
ReplyDeleteI've been crushing on Felicity Jones since Like Crazy. That was some absolute dream girl shit right there.
ReplyDeleteAnd Ben Mendelsohn gave the best performance I've seen on TV this year with Bloodline.
At least wait until your career is going down the tubes and you need the pub.
ReplyDeleteYes.
ReplyDeleteTom Hardy is so great acting with his eyes that putting him in a mask you still get a hell of a performance.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that movie is going to melt my brain from awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye, BoD.
Or take polaroids so they're not in the goddamn cloud.
ReplyDeleteIt LOOKS pretty. I'm glad they acknowledge Superman in there. DC does TV well...except for Gotham at times...I'll give it a try.
ReplyDeleteAny chance the new Avengers passes it? It's already at $1B or so now, right?
ReplyDeleteWeirdly thorough Supergirl trailer
ReplyDeleteYeah, I posted about that in the last thread. Yeesh...
ReplyDeleteMendelsohn is great in every thing I see him in. He stole Killing Them Softly. Apparently he is the main villain in Rogue One.
ReplyDeleteI love her teeth
ReplyDeleteHey hey I kinda called this in the morning thread - They're making a new mutants movie...they became X-Force, right?!
ReplyDeletehttp://deadline.com/2015/05/the-new-mutants-x-men-josh-boone-the-fault-in-our-stars-fox-1201425641/
( ͡°╭͜Ê–╮͡° )
A step up from jobbing to Bane
ReplyDeleteIt's at 880 mil right now.
ReplyDeleteLaura Vandervoort of GTFO
ReplyDeleteJust get a $100 digital camera from Target or something.
ReplyDeleteNo Synergy...no concept of "the holograms"...no Misfits...and about three seconds of a goofy "song" by Jem followed by a whole chunk of One Direction. Jem & The Holograms, everyone!
ReplyDeleteIf Zayn and Itami are both out, I feel like the idea should be just offer up the Owens/Balor rematch for the title. Make Breeze the odd man out and let him come out next week and rail about how he's being overlooked.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a man crush.
ReplyDeleteI bet Sami guts it out long enough to job to Owens before he has surgery.
ReplyDeleteAoU is unlikely to surpass it. It needs to DOUBLE itself in the USA to surpass Avatar.
ReplyDeleteI thinks it's been in the works for a while.
ReplyDeleteDamn.
ReplyDeleteIf not, Infinity War might
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't? You're gay if you don't have a crush on him.
ReplyDeleteAoU currently at 324 in USA.
ReplyDeleteAvatar is at 760 is USA.
Kluber 13 K's, 0 walks. 0 hits through 6.
ReplyDeleteMy brother said there were a couple of times in the movie where you can't help but hear Bane through Hardy's
ReplyDeletePerfect game, or did someone reach on an error?
ReplyDeleteHe still has a ***** ****.
ReplyDeleteA main event face-to-face that should end with Owens murdering Zayn to write him off?
ReplyDeleteAnd the fact he wants to play Punisher!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hate when skilled players try to get cute in the playoffs. Shoot the goddamn puck on net.
ReplyDeleteI still don't get that movie. It's one of the worst films I've ever seen. Horrible dialogue, cheesy effects, needless and arbitrary 3D, bad acting...it was like watching a video game that you weren't allowed to play.
ReplyDeleteHe was so evil in Animal Kingdom.
ReplyDeleteAgain?
ReplyDeleteDid they give Solomon Crowe new music? Seems less anarchic.
ReplyDeleteBit of a stretch but I know they made a crap ton of American Pie movies that have nothing to do with the original movies.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it. Even a DC vs. Marvel movie might not break Avatar.
ReplyDeleteLarge dick?
ReplyDeleteNevermind. Kluber hit someone earlier in the game. Still a no-hitter going though.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad the Sharks aren't in the playoffs. They saved me a lot of stress this year.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't forgiven that team for their outright implosion a year ago against the Kings.
oh ffs, flassssssssshbacks
ReplyDeleteSo did they ditch the stupid hacker gimmick for Crowe?
ReplyDeleteI wonder, does the Babe Ruth game count as a perfect game? I know MLB doesn't count it, but it technically was 27 up and 27 down.
ReplyDeleteGiant cock?
ReplyDeleteWorldwide
ReplyDeleteAvatar - 2.788b
AoU - 932m at the moment
I'll have to take your word for it, I couldn't even finish it.
ReplyDeleteNow he's a 1950's swimmer.
ReplyDeleteIt could be an interesting off season for them. Remember the Seinfeld where George has a contract and everyone at his workplace wants him to leave but he won't? That's Joe Thornton's life right now.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it. He looks like he's Just Another Guy now.
ReplyDeleteYeah that's gonna be tough to beat
ReplyDeleteIt's only been out for 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteI believe they're only up to 6, and only 4 were released to theaters.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Along with GM Doug Wilson.
ReplyDeleteIt's Solomon Crowe.....and I'm gonna knock your brains out.
ReplyDeleteIf the coaching change doesn't get them back on track next year it'll be an interesting season.
ReplyDeleteI am watching a documentary on big bird and I like it.
ReplyDeleteAvatar had advantages but it has disadvantages as well.
ReplyDeleteAdvantages - 3D only basically
Dis - 2h 40 minutes.
I'd say no too, but it's still pretty impressive.
ReplyDeleteOVI!
ReplyDeleteStill don't get how the hell avatar made that much money
ReplyDeleteEnd of Days is kind of an impressive move to give the "out of nowhere" treatment to.
ReplyDeleteI've outright said this many times. Keep up son.
ReplyDeleteOvechkin!!
ReplyDeleteAs is any combined no hitter.
ReplyDeleteSimpsons doing a Simpsons did it gag.
ReplyDeleteSimpsception.
I read an article on that last week, he was supposed to be on the challenger shuttle.
ReplyDeleteAnd the James Cameron fan-wanking. OMG...it was like everyone was scared to say, "This movie sucked." I mean, I'd sit through Titanic again before I watched Avatar and I wasn't a Titanic fan, either. Cameron really hasn't made a good movie since Terminator 2.
ReplyDeleteYes he was.
ReplyDeleteWell, the guy that came in for Ruth did retire 27 in a row.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it'll make it. Avatar made at least 20m for 14 straight weeks.
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally, they already did a Simpsception episode a few seasons ago.
ReplyDeleteWord of mouth. It was the best fucking looking movie at the time, and of all-time currently.
ReplyDeleteBut I have no idea either. It makes 0 sense.
Big men turf wars are always welcome in wrestling.
ReplyDelete"Hideo Itami/Finn Balor vs. Tyler Breeze/Adam Rose"
ReplyDeleteOne of these things is not like the other...
I liked Titanic. I went into it thinking "great, a 3 and a half hour movie I already know the ending to..." and was really surprised.
ReplyDeleteThat's when I realised that DiCaprio is actually a really good actor.
I really want Ovi to score a real Ovetrick one of these days. It'll never happen, but I can imagine.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wwe.com/f/wysiwyg/image/2015/03/BigShowAngry.gif
ReplyDeleteAll the laughs.
What is everyone's head-canon(basically fan theories that you believe)? My favorite is that Joker in TDK was an Iraq war vet that was disfigured in an IED attack.
ReplyDeleteI liked the design of Titanic...but I've seen Winslet and DiCaprio in better films and roles. :-/
ReplyDeleteIt was the first mainstream movie to NAIL 3D. I saw it in IMAX and my eyes were cumming.
ReplyDeleteI'll say one thing for Rhyno, he actually looks better nowadays than he did in his prime.
ReplyDeleteIf everyone in the Gang Warz angle in 1997 didn't absolutely suck it would've been hot. It still was over despite everyone sucking.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he's all that old, either. Isn't he in his late 30s?
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty wondrous. There's still nothing like it.
ReplyDeleteI also think the ultra late release helped too. No competition at all for like 3 months.
39 according to Wikipedia.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wwe.com/f/wysiwyg/image/2015/03/BatistaWave.gif
ReplyDeleteWhenever I leave for the night, I will post this gif.
Word of mouth was huge. It only made $77 mil opening weekend - a record for an original property but still not Avengers stuff. But it popped that same number the next week and never had a steep drop for months.
ReplyDeleteI guess Ovi only scores in the Garden...lol
ReplyDeleteSeahawks fans set up a GoFundMe to pay Russell Wilson if he re-signs with the Seahawks. Idiots are actually donating. Wilson would get the money in addition to whatever he'd get from Seattle.
ReplyDelete14 weeks of at least 20m is pretty crazy if people think about it.
ReplyDeleteYep, right at the end of December so it had free reign to dominate the dump months, even with Sherlock Holmes and Alvin and the Chipmunks doing big business over Christmas too
ReplyDelete<3 Sasha Banks
ReplyDeleteAny breadcrumbs for that or just phantom backstory creation?
ReplyDeleteKluber gave up a single
ReplyDeleteThe only way I can think of Avatar losing the crown is...
ReplyDeleteJames Cameron presents...
Marvel vs. DC!
or some BS like that.
Really, holy shit I thought he was pushing 50 for how long he's been around
ReplyDeleteNow we have a "Black Shorts" to go with a "Blue Pants." Needs more Enzo/Cass sound bytes.
ReplyDeleteAnything James Cameron does will probably be a box office breaker.
ReplyDeleteFamily Matters is canon to Die Hard; Al moved his family to Chicago and changed their names to protect them.
ReplyDeleteIt makes my head hurt. Smurfcats and a hollywood bs allegory rolled into one
ReplyDelete"Black shorts" lol
ReplyDeleteThose smurfcats looked awesome as fuck though
ReplyDeleteInfinity War 2. Inflation and the band back together one last time. Even if I have to rob every bank in the US to singlehandedly get it over the top
ReplyDeleteAlmost time for a Survivor Series type team like the Knights in '93.
ReplyDeleteHe was billed as the youngest ECW TV champion of all-time during his late 90s run, so I had to imagine he was in his early 20s at the time.
ReplyDeleteI would love if that became the highest grossing film of all time.
ReplyDeleteA better idea is to have RDJ actually die.
ReplyDeleteWhy?
ReplyDeleteI saw a wonderfully cheesy direct to DVD (I assume) movie recently... it started with this guy in prison who Kimbo Slice and some other guys tried to shank and he kicked the shit out of them because another guy warned him. The guy that warned was apparently killed later on so this guy went to protect his family when he got out and revenge the guy that killed his buddy... this ends up getting him into an underground street fighter culture where he fought various people... Gina Carano was in it as a female fighter and that guy that was on American Gladiators and is the Rock's cousin was also in it it was a lot like Best Of The Best or Kickboxer. Very fun.
ReplyDeleteDeath = sales.
ReplyDeleteHow good he is at planning operations, knows how to handle weapons, the line "When a truck full of soliders blows up...". Also, TDK is very much a 9/11 film. Batman is an allegory to post 9/11 government.
ReplyDeleteI heard one that TDK Joker's dad was Jack Torrence from The Shining who was really Jack Napier who went into hiding after his attempted overthrowing of his boss in 1989 Batman didn't work out.
ReplyDeleteAnother sign that NXT rules: Two women's matches booked for the big show isn't immediately preceded by "Awwww, SHIT!"
ReplyDeleteWWE cancelled the house show set here for May 31st. My question is why couldn't they just turn that into Elimination Chamber? They booked a Nov. Raw to make up for it but who wants that?
ReplyDeleteEh, you're not missing much.
ReplyDeleteThere was another show somewhere else that is getting turned into elimination chamber. They can't both be elimination chamber.
ReplyDeleteIt's November! You'll bear witness to the annual push of the Big Show!
ReplyDeleteSome arenas can't handle the chamber.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be time for his big face push.
ReplyDeleteWhy not? Crockett did WarGames at different shows.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll pass. I had planned on going to SurSer. As of now that's still the plan
ReplyDeleteHoly shit, Kluber might get 20Ks!
ReplyDeleteRename your town Corpus Christi, you'll get a show every other week.
ReplyDeleteThey're LOSING MONEY, though! They don't want your money when they could take money from some other town with two weeks' notice.
ReplyDeleteGood news, Gold Club!
ReplyDeleteUhaa's definitely getting the belt very soon.
ReplyDeleteA co-worker was really disappointed. WWE just doesn't understand that this stuff does impact the bottom line.
ReplyDeleteCome down and join me.
ReplyDeleteJust started Season Finale of Arrow. Kept my phone in my room because I kept getting phone calls for work delaying this,
ReplyDeleteI think he's legit grateful to be back after he shit the bed in public that one WM weekend AND I think he's where he wants to be: wrestling younger guys, helping out and probably with an eye on getting a trainer gig at some point. It almost always helps when you can tell a guy is enjoying what he's doing.
ReplyDeleteIf the Caps and Wizards both make it to the conference finals, I might parley a championship bet. That has to be at least a 30-1 odds.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Arrow's about to start on the east coast, did the ending of The Flash irk anyone else when Oliver just casually went "Oh, hey, I'm gonna need your help with something."
ReplyDeleteWHEN exactly did he have time to stop in Central City with all the shit going on over on his show?
I remember reading a theory about the prequels when they were still being filmed. The big twist was going to be Obi-Wan dying and a clone taking his place. He then becomes Obi-ONE in the original trilogy.
ReplyDeleteReally wish that happened. Sounded so cool.
Giving the GORE to a flowerpot is one of my favourite wrestler meltdown stories.
ReplyDelete
