No way! Kinda wish I didn't read it now
ReplyDeleteSo a wrestler currently under contract who has been injuried for a month is returning. Ok.
ReplyDeleteSpoiler: There will be six pile drivers and nine release suplexes on Raw tonight.
ReplyDeletePlease keep that info to this thread.
You're sure that won't be happening after Sunday?
ReplyDeleteHe's not going to live to see 50.
ReplyDeleteI think we should consult Scott's math lessons to determine what was the likelihood he was juicing in percentage terms.
ReplyDeleteHe is nuts
ReplyDeleteUmm....why wouldn't they announce that? They just had their worst rating in like 20 years, not sure this is the week to run a "surprise" angle with a guy people actually would watch.
ReplyDeleteSuccessful people tend to be obsessed like that... but it is just sad to watch. Maybe he and #BRIEMODE should have a kid so he would have some incentive to stay alive.
ReplyDeleteYES JOE GOMEZ HAS RETURNED!
ReplyDeleteThe site is blocked at my work - what is the spoiler?
ReplyDeleteI guess I find this spoiler to be underwhelming.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing that's left that would really shock the hell out of me is CM Punk returning. And that's not going to happen anytime soon.
Daniel Bryan is returning and booked to wrestle at Payback
ReplyDeleteCM Punk comes back and beats Rollins for the title
ReplyDeleteThey gave Heath Slater a racist cop gimmick
ReplyDeleteWho could live with themselves after killing the JOE-MENTUM? I mean, it was GO-TIME!
ReplyDeleteYeah still a possibility I guess :(
ReplyDeleteKatie Vick is alive.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Vince is nuts as well.
ReplyDeleteThat would likely get him face pops depending on the city
ReplyDelete"Hailing from Ferguson, MO by way of Baltimore..."
ReplyDeleteHe would totally be a face in Alabama.
ReplyDeleteThey really build heat by having a "Stand Your Ground" match in Florida
ReplyDeleteHE'S HANDSOME, HE'S BRAVE, HE'S STRONG!
ReplyDeleteCool, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI hope that he's not shortening his career/life by coming back when he shouldn't, especially just to be dicked around.
Can't wait for him not to change his style at all and go back on the shelf by the end of the summer.
ReplyDeleteDaniel Bryan? This is how they work the internet these days.
ReplyDeleteListen, I want the guy to put his health above career and if he legitimately needed to step away for an injury then I hope he does so. That said....
ReplyDeleteWhy is the assumption that his injuries are life threatening or catastrophic in a way that no other wrestlers' have been before? He got hurt last year, was out for about 8 months. Reports seem that he got concussed in early April, and has been out about 6 weeks.
Other wrestlers have spent time on the DL before--- pretty much everyone at some point.
Why is Bryan treated around here like he's knocking at death's door?
I agree with this. Advertise a Bryan announcement then have him break the news he will defend the IC Title at Payback
ReplyDeleteShit I was thinking Austin would be on the show or something crazy.
ReplyDeleteI think it's due to his WWE style and the word he's not getting the correct treatment, but the quick treatment. I'm kinda upset because his ROH style was so much safer and just as effective. There's really no reason to keep this balls-to-the-wall WWE style. His ROH style had some rough moments and some risky moves, but nothing like now.
ReplyDeleteYou mean... he's just pretending to be injured all the time?
ReplyDeleteMajor spoilers for every midcard guy returning in pointless matches
ReplyDeleteI forgot he still had the title.
ReplyDeleteNice of Bryan to come back to drop the title this year.
ReplyDeleteOver/under on how many months before he's out injured again?
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree he should be reworking his style, and saving things like headbutts and crazy dives for once a year Mania type situations.
ReplyDeleteBut as for the treatment method--- why is surgery necessarily the "correct treatment"? Everyone's assuming the dude just went to some hippie quack and he's going into the ring at a greater risk than if he went the magical "surgery will absolutely cure all" method. I don't think it's fair to assume that at all.
Payback.
ReplyDeleteBAHAHAHAHAHAHA ok there
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody else feel this is a bad idea? I just get the feeling Bryan is pushing himself too much and it's going to come back to bite him in the ass sooner than he thinks.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading it as he's going to lose the title at Payback and go home again.
ReplyDeleteEveryone they should just mercy kill Daniel Bryan now, he's obviously the sickest most in pain human being on the planet today
ReplyDeleteThat's considered a major spoiler??
ReplyDeleteBecause he's had a major neck problem, and now a concussion in the span of a year, and wrestles a higher impact style to begin with.
ReplyDeleteAny time that someone is on the shelf for most of a year, you're definitely starting to think that he should slow it down.
Well, that is horrendously dumb on his part/WWE's part, but the selfish fan in me is excited to see him perform live again for possibly the last time this Sunday.
ReplyDeleteIt's not Bryan, Vince just saw Sami Zayn and got confused.
ReplyDeleteSure, slow down his style for sure, and take more time off throughout the year. And hell, retire if it actually IS that bad. 100%.
ReplyDeleteI'm just not understanding why the majority of the blog is of the opinion that Bryan is absolutely the most physically wrecked wrestler we've ever seen and it's basically a crime that he ever attempts wrestling again. (Hyperbole of course...)
He was an injured wrestler. He was out on the DL. He came back and yes got injured again, but seems to have been something unrelated to the neck injury.
I mean, Sami Zayn and Itami might each be out 6-8 months with shoulder injuries. Are their careers over too?
While that's definitely great news, I don't know how "major" it is. Kinda in the works already, no? Thought there was gonna be an Austin backstage sighting, or, even better, they somehow managed to book a retirement match where somehow Kane and Big Show both lose.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the same thing.
ReplyDeleteYeah, considering some of the comments here Bryan was in worse shape that Magnum TA immediately after his car accident.
ReplyDeleteI mean, if he didn't have the title and was off for 2 years, yeah I'd consider that a spoiler, but other then that.....
ReplyDeleteThey brawl to the back and are both counted out, retiring both of them.
ReplyDeleteThen, next year in the same town, do a sight gag where someone is cutting a promo in the back and Kane and Show are way in the background, still brawling, and no one notices or says anything.
Well, shoulder doesn't equal neck generally, but if the next 6-8 months are filled with rumours that Sami Zayn can't move his right arm and has major nerve damage, followed by a concussion on his return, then ya, it'll probably be similar talk.
ReplyDeleteAnd he's not the most physically wrecked wrestler ever. That honour goes to Kurt Angle.
Such a strange feeling to want you're favourite wrestler to retire. But it'd be for the best.
ReplyDeleteThe only moral thing to do would be for WWE to wrap Bryan in cellophane, push him around in a wheelchair, and give him the Stephen Hawking device so he can tap his thoughts. Actually having him talk might be too physically dangerous for him.
ReplyDeleteBAHAHAHAHAHA you have no idea whether it'd be for the best.
ReplyDeleteYou monster! He needs bubblewrap, not cellophane. And put a plastic bubble around him, for goodness sake!
ReplyDeleteFrom all we heard, he had a concussion. He isn't in Edge or Kurt Angle shape as far as we know. No need to be so dramatic.
ReplyDeleteI would really like it if one day the crowd just broke out a chant that went,
ReplyDeletePLEASE RETIRE!
:clap clap clap clap clap:
FOR YOUR SAFETY!
:clap clap clap clap clap:
I'm not really sure why you're laughing at that. I think he was saying HE THOUGHT it would be for the best. But who knows....I don't know why I help people out when they can't put together a coherent sentence.
ReplyDeleteIT's not like he's in Kurt Angle or Edge shape here people.
ReplyDeleteEven from the way he described the neck injury, it was less neck and more, random spot in his shoulder that was using numbness.
Well, his neck was in pretty bad shape and then he had problems in recovery. The correct treatment is whatever will serve his health over the long term and it's looking like wrestling isn't it.
ReplyDeleteNo dude he absolutely needs to retire on the spot and spend the rest of his days on an assisted living program. It's plainly clear.
ReplyDeleteIn these comments: People who think Daniel Bryan is on his deathbed, people who think Daniel Bryan is incapable of changing his wrestling style like Steve Austin did when he had a neck injury, people who think, and people who think Daniel Bryan is incapable of making his own health decisions based on the advice of medical professionals.
ReplyDeletePretty sure that's you
ReplyDeleteHey Matt, he's a big boy he can talk for himself!
ReplyDeleteDon't you remember when Steve Austin's neck was broken by Owen Hart in 1997 and then Austin never wrestled again?
ReplyDeleteOh, wait...
Oh shit son!
ReplyDeleteI just don't like seeing guys getting hurt, around the head and neck region in particular.
ReplyDeleteI think that head and neck trauma are bad.
"it's looking like wrestling isn't it."
ReplyDeleteProfessional wrestling will never help anyone's health.
You have zero idea though as to whether he's anywhere close to needing to retire, though.
Here is a photo of the protective measures 90% of the posters here think Bryan needs to take just to survive from day-to-day: http://cdn2.mommyish.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/tumblr_n2qwaleA751qd9dz2o1_500.png
ReplyDeleteYea exactly. It's not like he's been gone for months & people have forgot about him.
ReplyDeleteSure, but then on some level they should just cancel wrestling and the NFL and any other contact sport though.
ReplyDeleteDude, they're making Bryan stand up under his own power!!! He's obviously not cleared for that.
ReplyDeleteAnd they're playing his theme music way too loud! They're going to damage his hearing!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't like to see any wrestler get hurt, and yes, head and neck trauma are especially bad. But we really don't know the extent of Bryan's injuries. He had minimally evasive neck surgery, it's not like he broke his freakin' neck.
ReplyDeleteOne would hope.
ReplyDeleteAnd if he had there's no way he woulda won two Gold Medals!
ReplyDeleteYeah, from everything he said, it was some weird spot in his shoulder area.
ReplyDeleteTriple H had the same problem, where it was some spot under his armpit causing numbness in his arm.
That's just how big of a deal D-Bry actually is.
ReplyDeleteMeh.
ReplyDeleteThe severity of the injury is what was overstated.
ReplyDeleteHe's the most popular guy on the roster. His first appearance in over a month is a pretty big deal.
ReplyDeleteNo lie, can we give that gimmick to someone?
ReplyDeleteI want to see an overly oiled, muscle specimen come out like that.
Reminds me of WCW Hardcore Champion Normal Smiley.
ReplyDeleteHe and Dolph Ziggler fake headbutted each other on top of a ladder!
ReplyDeleteHow do you know that? He was out for ages
ReplyDeleteExactly. These guys know the risks, if he feels he can go, he should go. He knows what he's doing.
ReplyDeletehi thanks for dan bryan news
ReplyDeleteIn this thread, sociopaths get upset because people are concerned for another person's well-being.
ReplyDeleteSo those saying this isn't a spoiler knew in advance that Bryan was going to be on RAW tonight and announce he will wrestle at Payback?
ReplyDeleteThey knew in advance because they read the spoiler earlier today lol
ReplyDeleteAnd then Triple H came back to the LOUDEST OVATION IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY at Madison Square Garden.
ReplyDeleteWait, that was another injury? Nevermind. But he's still the best at wrestling.
Spoiler: This thread is the worst.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was going to be the Jimmy Wang Yang spoiler.
ReplyDeleteHow is a spoiler possible for a live Raw? Vince hasn't even had the chance to rewrite everything two minutes before air yet.
ReplyDeleteDaniel Bryan make people go crazy
ReplyDeleteSomeone please re-book Survivor Series 94 to make it more watchable in my mind.
ReplyDeleteAnd that he teamed with longtime Horsemen enemies to do it. The only thing that would've been better is Dusty Rhodes and Nikita Koloff, managed by Magnum TA.
ReplyDeleteDBry threads always go off rails.
ReplyDeleteI bring you exhibit A, the RAW thread the night D-Bry joined the Wyatt Family
ReplyDeleteI want a poster to do a Kenny Wangler gimmick to accompany this.
ReplyDeleteI miss Gideon Stargrave. There is no way that guy ever got laid.
ReplyDelete"to me he looks about 20 pounds overweight. Wearing a robe made with cheap rhinestones. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine" - ring announcer Ronnie Garvin
ReplyDeleteHe told me I suffered from "WWE-induced Stockholm Syndrome." Yeah, he was mental. No way he doesn't live in a group home of some sorts.
ReplyDeletelots of people return from traumatic quad injuries in 6 months in incredibly great shape with a bigger head, thinning hairline, and acne... all part of the healing process
ReplyDeleteThis is the single funniest post in the history of this blog.
ReplyDeletehi is bryan ok
ReplyDeleteVince McMahon, because people are watching his Jerry Springer show, so he needs to clear the wrestling off the Network
ReplyDeleteSince I am crazy bored tonight: what if crazy Bob Backlund had appeared earlier? He lasted long on the '93 Rumble anyway, so if he had won that and had gone to WMIX to challenge Bret, HE could have won the title there, only to lose it to Hogan (coming in to stop the chickenwing or whatever) and then Bob could have defeated Hogan at KOTR, bringing him to somewhat of a closure from the early 80's.
ReplyDeleteDidn't I use to squash him in my single-run days?
ReplyDelete"Hey, no one wanted to watch our 15 minute children's animated show we made on the cheap in 1986 at 11:30pm on our specialty order Network..."
ReplyDeleteYou ran through the Unstable like a butter through knife!
ReplyDeleteI'm always a sharp butter.
ReplyDeleteIn this thread, I feel like Jerry Seinfeld: "Everyone in this thread isn't a doctor, but they play on in real life."
ReplyDeleteBryan vs. Neville ... book that shit
ReplyDeleteSTRIKE FORCE!
ReplyDeleteHow is this a major RAW spoiler?
ReplyDeleteHe's still here. He's Rorshach220 or whatever
ReplyDeleteHe's been gone for a few weeks. It's not like this is a holy shit return. OMG THE I-C CHAMP IS BACK?
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you didn't like the BNB gimmick. =(
ReplyDeleteHis return is a major surprise.
ReplyDeleteNot really.
ReplyDeleteI think there is something to be said for Hulkamania finally "dying" at the hands of an evil foreigner, considering the patriotic nature of Hogan's 80's character.
ReplyDeleteIf Roman Reigns missed a week of RAW due to a missed flight they would have a "Tell Me a Lie" video ready to air by 9pm.
ReplyDeleteHe usually sticks with Grant Morrison characters. Because he's an idiot.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is when he claimed he was a lawyer and then everybody found out he wasn't. I think that's when he started changing his name every couple of months trying to hide.
ReplyDeleteI know what we can do! Let's annoy Bayless with our critiques of what he posts! That seems helpful.
ReplyDeleteHi why bryan not dead ok bye
ReplyDeleteIt does, so in the future, he doesn't make the same mistake. Great idea, Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, useless guy! :)
ReplyDeleteBryan actually died last year, but his heart just won't quit. Brave li'l guy.
ReplyDeleteI kind of agree with Dougie.
ReplyDelete....well, that's depressing.
There's a difference between caring about a person's well-being and being all "Bryan should retire".
ReplyDeleteSince nobody here really knows the extent of his injuries, the latter is a bit extreme.
So this thread seems pretty awful.
ReplyDelete*pulls out the aquanet*
ReplyDeleteI may watch Raw tonight just to constantly comment that Bryan needs to be careful, and why is he out there without a helmet?
ReplyDeleteWatch out DBry! Think of your health! Like, when he's climbing the ring steps. That sort of thing.
Yes, yes they are. And yes, it is quite stupid.
ReplyDeleteOk, he's not accident prone. He's Daniel Bryan, not Sin Cara.
ReplyDeleteHOW IS THAT A SPOILER? RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!
ReplyDeleteNext time Bayless should say he knows about something and not tell anyone.
ReplyDelete"You people don't deserve an explanation!"
ReplyDeleteNo, but driving Worst in the World further into madness seems like a fun way to kill a Monday night.
ReplyDeleteI've got nothing. The roster was really thin, to the point that reshuffling things doesn't even help much.
ReplyDeleteBryan has never actually been injured, he just learned the #1 rule of Shawn Michaels' wrestling academy: always fake injuries to get out of losing a title.
ReplyDeleteI'm fascinated to know what factors into people's concerns for Daniel Bryan's long-term health? Is it the odd parallels he seems to have with Chris Benoit? Is it the CM Punk statement from a few months ago that WWE doctors are utter shit? Is it the fact that his injuries keep building up for a company that doesn't really give a shit about him? Is it all of the above?
ReplyDeleteThought the spoiler would be that the show was going back to 2 hours or be watchable again
ReplyDeleteYou'd think they would advertise shit like this to help.pull a rating. Nope
ReplyDeleteAll I can think if is maybe having Luger vs Tatanka in their blow-off, and Bulldog vs Owen. Otherwise.. So much uninteresting and uninspiring stuff gong on besides the Diesel-HBK deal. It would've made for a decent SNME though.
ReplyDeleteWho made the joke a few weeks ago that Bryan didn't understand the part where he's supposed to fake the injuries?
ReplyDeleteWell it looks like the news is out there wouldn't you say?
ReplyDeleteI don't know. If they get him out there early and put him in the main event, that still offers plenty of time for people to jump into the show later.
ReplyDeleteBro, he has a condo there already.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they should've got a super bowl ad.
ReplyDeleteAll I've got is maybe milking what little star power they had by doing the Final Match of Survival thing. Diesel & Shawn featured again in the main event, maybe with their split taking place there.
ReplyDeleteWon't we all feel silly if he's just back to do a 30-second squash to drop the belt and close up that plothole?
ReplyDeleteWell, *I* won't, but still...
???
ReplyDelete"Heck, it's not my job to talk people out of killing themselves"
ReplyDelete%%%
ReplyDeleteHe inspires some passion, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteWell, that sentence made sense. Progress!
ReplyDeleteHow do you KNOW he's not Sin Cara?
ReplyDelete$$$
ReplyDeleteOh you devil you.
ReplyDeleteMy posting privilege has been revoked. Annoying Bayless IS ALL I'VE GOT LEFT!!!
ReplyDeleteI won't either. Rather see belt dropped in ring
ReplyDeleteBecause the mask can't hold that much beard without bursting open, of course.
ReplyDeleteWell, that seems like a legit reason I guess.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more likely we get a 5-minute segment where Stephanie McMahon strips him of the title and makes sure we all know what a loser he is.
ReplyDeleteAre we talking, like new Intercontinental champion Roman Reigns-level silly?
ReplyDeleteI think we already know what a loser he is. I guess a refresher couldn't hurt though.
ReplyDeleteHow do you know he's not Don Juuuuuaaaannnn?
ReplyDeleteWhy would Reigns winning the title be silly?
ReplyDeleteYou've not seen the gay wedding with Eric Bischoff?
ReplyDeleteI've got nothing outside of personal anti-Reigns bias
ReplyDeleteBecause the character is about as fleshed out as The Renegade?
ReplyDeleteYeah because outside of this blog's fan fiction with Daniel Bryan's "character" they have fleshed out Daniel Bryan's character SO well. He gets a good reaction and it was this very blog that was like "maybe start him at the IC level". So yeah seems like a good place to start to me.
ReplyDeleteThe honesty is refreshing
ReplyDeleteI think I mentiond before the Sting set was an anomaly. Sting doing anything with the WWE was way more shocking and anticipated than the attitude era set IMO.
ReplyDeleteUsing only the original card, I'd go the Survivor Series '92 route and book less Survivor Series-type matches and do:
ReplyDeleteHart/Backlund
Shawn/Diesel vs. Ramon/Kid
Headshrinkers vs. Owen/Jarrett
Luger/Bulldog/Gunns vs. Tatanka/Bundy/Bigelow/Neidhart
Taker/Yoko
I forget if PPVs still had intermissions in 1994, but I'd put the Lawler/Doink stuff in an insert box while the countdown clock ticks down
Maybe they'll go the MTV route where that network was once actually about music and featured music videos and shows devoted to music but then deteriorated to reality tv hell.
ReplyDeleteThree things that the current IC champ lacks.
ReplyDeleteMountie is due for a long IC reign. And Hogan needs the world title, brother.
This is more like it! Instantly a more interesting ppv. And you could even get Owen-Bulldog (that I keep wishing had happened there) if you put Bomb with Luger and switched in IRS (who was kept off for unknown reasons) for the Anvil, who you could put with Jarrett.
ReplyDeleteEither way: much better show, especially with that Kliq tag rematch from the Action Zone.
Dont get me wrong. It is a spoiler. I dont know with "Major Raw Spoiler" and "please keep this spoiler exclusive to this thread" I was sorta expecting something like a trademarked HHH announcement that would rock the wwe universe to it's core! Or at the very least Balor against Cena or a David Otunga appearance. But I think I set myself up for a disappointment on that last one.
ReplyDeleteVince Jordan was better.
ReplyDeleteIt's possible they didn't know until the last minute.
ReplyDeleteAlso, is there any proof that Bryan affects ratings one way or the other?
Pleace tell that to Vince McMahon!
ReplyDeleteYou just figured out his new name!!! "The Renegade" Roman Reigns!! How have they not used this?!?
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of that discussion we were having a while back about "if you're healthy enough to move you're healthy enough to drop the belt". I wonder if that's what's happening...
ReplyDeleteDied and was buried, don't forget ;)
ReplyDeleteWhy did you bring Daniel Bryan into the discussion? Because you have nothing to say about the merits of Roman Reigns?
ReplyDeleteWho cares
ReplyDeleteI brought him up bease he's the current champion and that was my example
ReplyDeleteIf daniel Bryan has enough character to hold the belt so does Reigns.
One of the great angles was nWo heel Randy Savage vs La Parka and it looking like a squash until LP hit a diamond cutter for the win. Then he unmasks as DDP!
ReplyDeleteYou call a month and a half ages? Are you ok?
ReplyDeleteThey announced it three minutes in. Some spoiler
ReplyDeletehttp://i.crackedcdn.com/phpimages/article/1/5/4/399154.jpg?v=1
ReplyDelete"Daniel Bryan is a LOSER who couldn't even help America deal with the Baltimore Riots! My family brought this nation back from brink after 9/11! Just like how my father came back from the brink after the government witch hunt they called a Steroid trial!"
They don't care about us THAT much.
ReplyDeleteHe'll just get injured again. The loser.
ReplyDeleteNo he wasn't.
ReplyDelete
