Hey Scott,
Even though Vince completely botched the iNvasion storyline in 2001, can you see an nXt vs wwe iNvasion storyline in the future? This is assuming a touring nXt brand does well.
Thanks!
Well, they already did it in 2010 with the Nexus, and then completely gave up on it a few weeks into it. So I think we'll just keep them separated for now.
that would kill NXT ... being separate is what gives it their identity.
ReplyDeleteNXT vs WWE would give them a ready-made HHH vs Vince/Stephanie feud, but I'm not sure anyone would want to see that in 2015.
ReplyDeletePlus it would end in tears and John Cena squashing everyone (albeit with obligatory post-match nod of respect "rub").
Do we really need an invasion storyline?
ReplyDeleteSeriously.
The booking and writing is so stale and devoid of creativity that we need an invasion to spice things up?
Please out this emailer so he/she can be shamed.
ReplyDeleteSquash all the NXTers in one shot. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhat we really need is another authority figure.
ReplyDeleteBut only if he or she's a heel.
ReplyDeleteI bet HHH, Vince, and Stephanie would like to see it.

ReplyDeleteInvaders don't do so well in the WWE. Sting invaded 14 years late and got sledgehammered by HHH's old DX buddies to prove some bizarre point.
ReplyDeleteHave WWE invade nXt and just destroy everyone in one night to give them all the rub they need to get over.
ReplyDeleteI think the Nexus storyline gets a bad rap. Sure, it fizzled out and ended poorly like almost every long-term storyline they try. But they got a solid three months out of it before that happened.
ReplyDeleteThey might consider it for a few seconds before they realise all the fans would be backing NXT
ReplyDeleteDo people not understand that NXT is a developmental and not its own thing?
ReplyDeleteHHH is the smartest man in wrestling. He is "injured" during the wcw invasion. Then conveniently goes into semi-retirement just before the nexus. And when he gains full control he will lead the nxt invasion. And then take full credit for the angles success
ReplyDeleteIt's both, really.
ReplyDeleteNo. Just stay away from NXT. Let it be a lab for new, crazy ideas like "booking". I'll pay the monthly tax and be happy.
ReplyDeleteDoes this person not realize that NXT is a developmental league and not a seperate company or faction? And does this person realize that about 90% of the weekly RAW audience still hasn't heard of NXT?
ReplyDeleteWhat he's suggesting would be like the NBA doing an interpromotional feud with its own D-league and that isn't ever going to happen for obvious reasons.
The point of that was he shouldn't have wasted 8 years of his life in TNA.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell was the story with that anyway (abandoning the Nexus invasion)? Was it strictly because of the Daniel Bryan issue? Did Vince just change his mind the next day again?
ReplyDeleteThe only point of that was to give John Cena something to do for a few months as it was painfully obvious they had run out of ideas for him after the Batista feud ended.
ReplyDeleteNxt should have had a annual SS Match for a few years now imo.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of storylines that revolve around companies instead of wrestlers.
ReplyDeleteYes. No more invasion storylines. That dead horse has been quite enough times already.
ReplyDeleteReally, the only time a good invasion story ever worked in American pro wrestling was the original nWo and (maybe) the original ECW one in 1997.
ReplyDeleteLet's avoid doing invasions.
I have to go back to 2010 and see the Nexus storyline play out. I only watched the initial beatdown on Cena and the announcers which was pretty damn brutal.
ReplyDeleteThe most amazing thing about the Nexus storyline is Cena effectively killed the careers of five wrestlers in one swoop. It was jaw-droppingly incredible how quickly it happened.
ReplyDeleteBarrett was the only one who eventually recovered, and it wasn't until he found the Bad News character years later.
But Scott.....who's on the Mount Rushmore of terrible ideas?
ReplyDeleteMy picks...
1) This email
2) This email
3) Anything by Vince Russo.
4) This email
Cena didn't kill them off they didn't have careers before then. None of them were going to set the world on fire. Barrett was the only one worth a damn and he did ok for himself. If he hadn't been injured nine thousand times he might have gotten into a few main events. Titus had a decent run as the PTP its not his fault they split them up. Heath Slater plays his role perfectly and I think he's gotten way more mic time and career longevity than I ever imagined he would. Its not Cena's fault that most of these guys were awful and its not his fault they didn't do anything with them afterwards. Hey didn't that Skip guy do ok for himself too?
ReplyDeleteActually having some midcard talents from the main roster "invading" NxT to put those youngster in their place could be a really cool storyline. (as long as they don't send the Big Show)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind seeing the NXT Women beating down the WWE Divas.
