Chris Hero will be doing a 2 hour gauntlet match thanks to $2000 in donations, and if they hit $2500 he'll do 2.5 hours, so let's all throw money at charity and make him work even harder. I put $10 in and they're only about $100 short of adding another 30 minutes to his workload that night.
Only about half the length of his average IWA: Mid-South match.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but smile when someone does something for charity. They don't have to do it but they do anyway to help someone else out. That's cool no matter how you look at it.
ReplyDeleteWow, he really let himself go a bit after his NXT run, eh?
ReplyDeleteI think we should raise money for charity by getting pledges for Scott to hang out with us in the night thread for an entire evening.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't the ice bucket challenge be easier?
ReplyDeleteChris Hero isn't senior enough to use ice yet.
ReplyDeleteSome do it to look cool.
ReplyDeleteI saw video of one of his 90 min matches with Punk. It was... way, way too long. I love long, slow paced matches, but this one is absurd. Self indulgent.
ReplyDeleteTrue but at least in this case someone else benefits too.
ReplyDeleteAt least it's for a good cause. I have zero interest in watching a two hour match, though.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he did. I saw him wrestle at a local indy here and he was pretty chunky. A few months later, I saw him at Wrestlecon wearing a shirt that said "I work hard for this body," which I appreciated.
ReplyDeleteHe should start a second charity where the people who will actually have to sit through this match can donate money to subtract time. This is the one I'd put my money in.
ReplyDeleteOh, *now* he's serious about losing weight
ReplyDeleteHis 90 minute match with Punk was when they were both completely new.
ReplyDeleteHOW WILL WE BUY THE NEAR FALLS
ReplyDeleteIt's a gauntlet match, so that eases up the 2 1/2 hour potential run time. As a one fall match, that's ridiculous, but the idea of him working 6-7 different matches... not the worst idea ever.
ReplyDeleteAre you headed to Windsor to take advantage of your meet and greet opportunity and to watch the match?
ReplyDeleteI guess I could be cool and bust on Chris Hero but I'll just say good for him for doing what he can. Plus,he killed our timeline's Dr. Cube,so we owe him thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteUnless it's a Rumble match. I'd totally watch two hours of even a halfway decent Rumble.
ReplyDeleteIt's a gauntlet. Presumably the goal is too win as many as he can in that time.
ReplyDeleteI've always been under the impression that he let himself go kind of as a "fuck you" for him getting fired for not hitting the gym as often as he was told to
ReplyDeleteYeah, fuck that guy
ReplyDeleteUh, I've seen photos of Chris Hero recently. Can he wrestle for 2 hours without dying?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though, good for him. No desire to watch it at all, but it's a cool thing to do.
Even before. You look at him when he first hit NXT, he almost had that visible-rib-cage look. After he became That KO Kid, he filled out and kept filling out. He was visibly pudgy by the time his last NXT match was filmed and after that, yeah, there are photos of him back on the Indy scene where he's got a gut and hips hanging out over his tights, muffin-top style.
ReplyDeleteThey're still almost $60 short.
ReplyDeleteYou spelled TNA wrong.
ReplyDeleteIf you get shit on for using an ice pack, imagine the repercussions of using a bucket.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like he's saying "fuck you" to himself more than anything. The only thing hurt over Chris Hero gaining weight is Chris Hero's health.
ReplyDeleteWithout buckets backstage, Randy Orton might have to use an actual toilet.
ReplyDelete90 minute matches are the wrestling equivalent of a Judd Apatow movie.
ReplyDeleteIt'll probably be the SMASH Wrestling roster, since they will be in town that weekend anyhow.
ReplyDeleteI think we owe HHH an apology. Because we assumed that the Chris Hero issue was about him not having abs or being ripped, but Kevin Owens and Joe prove that he's not Vince in that regard. The issue must have been conditioning, not physique.
ReplyDeleteMaybe lunchbags...
ReplyDeleteThat's quite possible, although it's worth noting that Joe and Steen have always been bigger guys. That's just their look. If they were suddenly billable at 220 and ripped, it'd look weird as hell. Hero was never cut, but he was a lanky, gangly looking dude.
ReplyDeleteAlso, they jumped through hoops to sign him and waited for months to sort out his testosterone issues and all. When a company extends you that sort of grace, it's expected that you're going to do what they ask of you.
I wouldn't. There hasn't been an entertaining Rumble in years.
ReplyDeleteI doubt conditioning was the issue. I watched him work Tanaka at DGUSA last year and they went quite a while and had a great pace.
ReplyDeleteBut he's EXPOSING THE BUSINESS~!~!!!!!@~!
ReplyDeleteActually, it's really cool. Good for Chris.
it's a nice thread you have here. Would be a shame is someone were to... troll it !
