Scott's Forum of Doom

I like Caliber's idea of an open SK-branded forum for y'all to discuss things on your own and such, but I also like making money, so I found a forum software called Nabble that's pretty easy and embeds right into Blogger, so it's the best of both worlds for me.  You'll notice a new link at the top of the page, for "Scott's Forum of Doom", and you can set up an account and start posting.  I don't know what we're going to go with in terms of organization and such, maybe a topic for blog questions and another for older discussions and another for FAQs about the site and stuff.

Also, I'm totally willing to pay Nabble to get rid of their ads, but they only take Amazon Payments, which is a pain in the ass because it's not Paypal.  So I'm going to look into it further, although honestly it's REALLY expensive to get rid of their ads given the kind of traffic I get.

Anyway, try it out and let me know how it works for everyone.

I've also added a new domain redirect, so you can just go to forum.rspwfaq.net to get there directly.

  1. I think a forum works well for threadjacks. Instead of having 3 or 4 discussions unrelated to the blog post(as fun as they sometimes are), take it over to the forum.

  2. Nabble looks solid and I don't mind ads - especially if you're getting something from it SK.

  3. Can I use this account to post, or is signing up for this totally separate?

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'll post once someone else has started a topic. Me like replying.

    ReplyDelete
  5. No, you gotta sign up separately.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Will you abandon the forum like you did TSM?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Like a Wire quote-off? lol.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Now this works and it is easily accessible for the users here.

Scott, I saw that folks can post anonymously. Can that be disabled? We don't need unaccountable trolls.

  9. I could also see it working well for discussing more longform reader submissions.

  10. Yeah, I don't know what Wire is but you guys sure do know a lot about it.

  11. Educate yourself.

  13. What is Daniel Bryan's favorite work of literature?

    Dante's InferNO! NO! NO!

  14. Where's Wallace?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Least favorite: Chasing YESterday

    ReplyDelete
  16. WHERE THE FUCK IS WALLACE?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey man, if you could get rid of that comment on the forum I accidentally posted under the Blogger account I'd appreciate it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That's gone too.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hey Scott, if you can go ahead and get rid of ALL of Curry's posts, that'd be great.

    ReplyDelete
  20. As a Steeler fan, this isn't just a Wire quote to me anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Did I do something wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wire quotes are always on topic.

  23. I just like fostering paranoia sometimes. Everyone needs a hobby.

  24. As a fantasy football player, I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  25. If I were you I'd get rid of a lot of the subsections. Wrestling and General would do for now until there is enough posts to warrant further organisation. Less sections makes it all look more active and easier to find posts I'd enjoy.

  26. I can't register because the Captcha image isn't showing up for some reason.

  27. Scott has essentially buried the Blog of Doom readers board...

I'm gonna keep the BoD Readers board up. So people can choose bOd Wolfpac or bOd Hollywood.

Basically just so you guys can choose what you like best. If BoD Readers ends up being the choice, then I'll work with Scott to see what we can do about lining his pockets by using it.

And honestly, I prefer the proboards, just because it has a better look. It's not about power or anything, because Scott is letting me run the Forum of Doom, so either way is fine with me.

Oh, and proboards has Fuj's avatar. GIANNA.

  29. Watching Katey Sagal in these old clips, and comparing it to her role on Sons of Anarchy, just blows my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I tend to think of her as Leela from Futurama.

  31. Drunk with power over at the other boards already?

More like buzzed, really. But we're getting there. Now, if you'd be so kind as to join so we can ban you for speaking out against The Moder Powers.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am now registered for both, so I can spend more of my time not doing work and focusing on "of Doom" related issues.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I did join but Fuj decided to change my screen name to "The Fuj Rules". That's what I was referring to when I said he was drunk with power.

    ReplyDelete
  35. THAT WAS FUNNY!!!

I never thought you would ever join. I just wanted to fuck with you cuz thats what we do.
