Dixie Carter Gives Pep Talk to Roster, States that Everything is Fine With the Company
According to Dave Meltzer, Dixie gave a pep talk at the Saturday house show, ensuring talent that there is no crisis within the company. Meltzer also reports that some of the talent felt better after Dixie's speech while others have been sending feelers out to the WWE.

On the same house show half the guys couldn't wrestle because of office screw-ups, Dixie gives a speech to tell talent the company is fine? That would fill me with confidence too.
ReplyDeleteSo does Show come back face or heel tonight? Ugh, I really hope he doesn't come back as a face to go against Del Rio at Summerslam. I honestly couldn't think of a feud that would have more go-away heat than that one.
ReplyDeleteSince the face side is so heavy (Cena, Sheamus, Punk, Bryan, Ziggler, Henry, RVD, and Orton for now) my bet is Show stays heel and joins the Heyman crew, which could be a really good spot for him.
Also, does anyone else here think we're getting one more Jericho match tonight? That write-off beatdown on Smackdown was super weak (all he took was Ryback's regular finisher) and the announcers didn't make a huge deal of it. Plus we know that Jericho really enjoys getting one over the fans, so I don't think his "good-bye" tweet last week can be taken at face value. AND the Fozzy tour doesn't start until August.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah, here's my prediction for tonight: Ryback comes out, says how he sent Jericho packing for good. Cue "Break the walls down!", huge pop for the "surprise", Jericho does the job and takes a table bump. Then it's see ya next January, Jericho.
hey brahs, I just read a headline on cnn.com that read 'Sandy-ravaged areas go wireless' and when i 1st read it, i read it as 'randy-savaged areas'
ReplyDeleteoooooh yeah, dig it!
...alright, how is it Pritchard's fault if he's no longer with TNA? Shouldn't it be 'TNA's fault for not ensuring they've replaced him properly'?
ReplyDeleteWell, glad Dixie cleared that up. Shame on all you fearmongers!
ReplyDeletechill, brah. he's only been gone since last week. it was prob one of those things where it was assumed he took care of it.
ReplyDeletesince it wasnt a day-to-day 'lets check on this' thing, it only came light when they headed out of town for the 1st time after his departure

I like Jericho's deal where he can come back for a little run as a full-time performer. Rock and Brock kind of take away from the product since they never wrestle on Raw, I feel I don't get the full experience. Rock not defending the belt once on Raw was shameful. With Jericho we get full Y2J until he leaves again.
ReplyDeleteSay what you will about Big Show, he has really brought the goods in ring lately. His pay per view matches in particular have been tremendous.
ReplyDeletelol, another comment that strengthens the idea that you avoid QOTD like the plague and stalk TNA threads.
ReplyDeleteHe jobbed 3 times last week, I hope you're wrong and he's done doing the honors for now.
ReplyDeleteMight be a good way to help get Wyatt over. Have show come back and go on an unstoppable rampage for a few weeks, then have Wyatt be the first one to get beat him in his return.
ReplyDeleteThe boss at my job never calls us all in just to sit us down and remind us we're still in business.
ReplyDeleteI kind of wish that they'd have Show come back in the role he had at the PPVs. I actually really like the faux "Talking Heads" segments during the show.
ReplyDeleteIt's new, it's what legitimates sports do, it gives you something to fill time with and push wrestlers or angles without having to cut into match commentary. I don't know why, but I really enjoyed those segments and I think Show was pretty good in the role. (Vicky was terrible, Kofi was pretty good though with more time he could improve. I'd rather see that than another Miz TV.)
He might if there were a ton of rumors on the NY Times blog or something that you were going to shut down. You need to address those rumors or morale would go into the shitter.
ReplyDeleteI've had 2 jobs where paychecks were late or bounced. One was out of business in a few months and the other was sold to someone who came in and immediately turned things around. He improved the store greatly and there was never another problem with getting paid.
ReplyDeleteMoral of the story: TNA might not be dead just yet, but unless there is some outside help soon, I don't see it lasting very much longer.
Does it matter? Whatever it is he will be the opposite by next week...
ReplyDelete....Big Show was gone?
ReplyDelete'One was out of business in a few months and the other was sold'
ReplyDeleteyou worked ecw and then wcw?
He'll start off as a heel in the first hour, turn face by the second hour, then end the show by turning heel.
ReplyDeleteWhich STILL doesn't break the number of face/heel turns he's done in the shortest amount of times.
Mine did, when I used to work for Blockbuster.
ReplyDeleteI hate how they are basically using Axel as Brock's body in so many cases... they might as well put a Brock mask and a muscle suit on him just to drive the point home...
ReplyDeleteDixie is the captain of a sinking ship. Some have already walked the plank, some jumped ahead of time, and some are wondering who the giant kraken (WWE) will eat next, or if it'll consume the whole ship.
ReplyDeleteThat made me legit LOL... and remind me of a time that this very same thing happened to me... when I worked at Circuit City
ReplyDeleteI won't lie. I would actually pay to see that. I'd laugh hard, but I'd still pay.
ReplyDeleteSame...ish. I have worked for 1 business that bounced paychecks... and they were gone a few short weeks later.
ReplyDeleteSeconded RE Circuit Shitty. Then again, much like TNA, they brought it on themselves.
ReplyDeleteSomebody snapped a photo of Dixie at the meeting:
ReplyDeletehttp://cdn2.sbnation.com/imported_assets/162786/iraqi_information_minister_small680_medium.jpg
"A ruptured rectum plastic surgery. Id rather see that than another Miz TV."
ReplyDeleteFIFY
Yeah... I was there when the bloodletting began and they stopped paying their sales people commission... and fired the ones that had made the most money. Fortunately I had quit when they fired all of the highly paid hourly people a few years later... and eventually tapped out for good. They have the same products as Best Buy, but they couldn't survive... show how important good management and decision making is.
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget that day. I worked the afternoon shift and got there just in time to see friends, commissioned sales people walk outta there crying. Then the rumors started flying about some of the csp's who were earning more than store managers. We're talking in the six-digit range.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the Circuit sold most of the same stuff, but also sold some of the most bizarre shit that one could possibly expect to find, like (I shit you not) 20" Mickey Mouse tv's (I worked there while I lived in Orlando, btw). Between the sales strategy, corporate policies and remodeling every store ever built and opening new ones while *knowing* the ship was sinking, never have I seen a company deserve their fate more.
It should have taken care of a month before the show, from what I heard so he is to blame
ReplyDeleteI remember those TV's! We clearly worked there around the same time... my store actually closed for the day and the store manager had to take the sales people into his office one at a time and make them their offer or shit can them. Yeah some of them were making ungodly amounts of money, which I already knew, and it made sense to curtail that... but why not at least make them some sort of offer, or change their pay structure or something.
ReplyDeleteThey always picked shitty locations for their stores as well, changed their logo/theme constantly, their policies and procedures... hell they went through 3 CEO's and 5 mission statements in the 5 years I worked there... it is a miracle they lasted as long as they did... if you want a nice example of how bad they were at stuff check out
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIVX
I still remember the last time Dixie sat the roster down, and she proceeded to chew them out in front of cameras, which they then aired on television.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a month? Ah, fair enough.
ReplyDeleteAlmost all of the TNA comments are getting tons of thumbs down. Did someone let in a flock of fanboys?
ReplyDeleteFour people clearly don't remember this.
ReplyDeleteWere you at either West Orlando or Altamonte? I had two stints with CC, and those are the locations I worked at (3268 and 839).
ReplyDeleteAnd since you bring it up, I do remember they opened the store late that day so that the bloodletting could happen "behind the scenes." As I remember it, they actually did offer the commissioned people the choice to go hourly, which in many cases would have been a drastic reduction in income, or just get cut entirely. But as you probably know, the way Richmond ordered management to present said choice pretty much guaranteed that most would say "fuck this" and walk away.
man bein' a music fan in the late 90's was great. best buy, circuit city, and media play actually tons of imports and hard to find stuff for decent prices. hell, even bookstores like barnes & noble and borders were awesome. add in a local tower records and damn i was in heaven.
ReplyDeletei lived in atlanta so there were like 4 or 5 media plays, 4 or 5 best buys, a handful of circuit cities, a couple of barnes & nobles and a borders, plus the tower records. we also had some blockbuster music/warehouse locations (where I worked so I got a sweet discount) plus some mom n pop stores.
i was a happy asshole
who let elvy out
ReplyDeletewho, who who
who let elvy out
who, who who
Yeah, from what I heard on WOR and from Mike Johnson.
ReplyDeleteScott is only involved in the Main Event storylines.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how a lot of TNA fans can't take a joke but are still too chickenshit to DARE to downvote Scott's comment.
ReplyDeleteScott's downvote count strangely remains at zero. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe TNA office has nothing to do right now but come here and downvote posts.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I'm just kidding! We all know TNA can't afford their Internet service anymore!
No mine was 3246 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
ReplyDeleteThey handled it a little differently here. Anyone that made over X $ average hourly was cut no questions asked. Everyone else was made an offer. So basically they cut the good people and kept the mediocre and shitty people... some people were angry, some people were devastated, and some didn't care... but man did it burn my ass from then on when I had to send back $40,000 in needless returns because they wanted to placate some whiny rich person... that was someone's job I was sending back to PRC as far as I saw it.
I am hoping the downvote is for CC and not me... what other problem could someone possibly have with this?
ReplyDelete...seems we're pretty unpopular 'round here today, dude.
ReplyDeleteBut basically yeah, Dixie rallying the troops with everything that's going on, while necessary on some level, seems to be going every bit as badly as how management at our old haunting grounds handled it.
Where are you, haters? That's just ridiculous. Abuse of power! Abuse of power! Downvote me! I'm already downvoted!
ReplyDeletelooks like Elvy has been busy with the down voting.
ReplyDeleteYeah... my only solace is that everyone I know that lost their jobs at CC has gone one to better things... hopefully should the same fate befall TNA the same will be true for them... like perhaps it was "Just what they needed"... llol
ReplyDeleteEveryone on TNA rapes chickens.
ReplyDeleteFigured I might as well earn my downvotes.
yeah i noticed that
ReplyDeletetime for you to edit your comment again. as i type this its at 10
ReplyDeletei just did.
ReplyDeleteyeah, i went there.
(i love you, scott)
The clearest way to know a guy sucks is when you don't realize he's been gone for weeks.
ReplyDeleteTNA is A-Ok
ReplyDeleteanother note on cc: there's a band called spocks beard that has a line in one of their songs that goes "My girlfriends a cardboard cut-out I stole from Circuit City'
ReplyDeletesomewhere, there is someone asking 'whats circuit city?'
and here on the BoD, many people are asking 'who the fuck is spocks beard?"
tell that to the dude whose zipper got stuck in summer school
ReplyDeletethat homeboy will fuck.you.up.
And that's a shame because Show looks like a total bro in real life. He's just over exposed as hell.
ReplyDeleteI kind of wish the WWE network would have launched. He could have done well with his own talk show.
It saddens me that there is little chance my future child will be as adorable as Boo.
ReplyDelete'Does it matter? Whatever it is he will be the opposite by the next segment...'
ReplyDeleteftfy
he stole the show* on the rock's ep of snl
ReplyDeletenot gonna say 'no pun intended' cause fuck it, thats why
'sup boo?
ReplyDeletesome chick actually said that to me once when i was walkin' down the street
which is why when I deign to watch RAW it goes something like this:
ReplyDeleteTV: "WEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLL IT'S DA B~"
me: ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Meh you had to be prompted to do it... YOU ARE NOT A REAL REBEL
ReplyDeletePeople are very cranky today it would seem...
ReplyDeletei just dv'd you, bizbirch!
ReplyDeletei typed 'biznitch' but 'bizbirch' came out, and thats kinda cool, so it stays
hey look, some bizbirch is on the loose
ReplyDeleteThey should make that their tag line - TNA-OK IMPACT! Wrestling.
ReplyDeleteI'd ask you to step outside if we didn't live in different places... and I wasn't so lazy... and if it wasn't like hot out and stuff...
ReplyDeleteWell he *was* at the absolute height of his awesomeness at the time, as he was going through the gamut of imitating the more popular wrestlers of the day.
ReplyDeleteWhen that was over, he became a guy who was, to steal an old Scott-ism, ~JUST TOO FAT.
dont live in different places?
ReplyDeletesee that dude peekin at you through the window?
...aint me. you gotta peepin' tom, you might wanna call the po-po
It just occurred to me that they're releasing guys to save money and Garrett Bishoff's still employed. I find it ironic that most of the obvious choices to fire are actually part of the top heel stable.
ReplyDeleteand you werent takin a sweet poop at the moment
ReplyDeleteDixie's been updating her twitter on McDonald's free wireless.
ReplyDelete'see what tna fans have to say':
ReplyDelete'theyre ok.'
'yeah, it'll do'
'beats smokin' crack... but if i had some, i'd prob smoke it instead'
hey, dont dv me just cause you couldnt work your zipper, jerome
ReplyDeleteThe odd thing was that her chewing them out was kind of a preemptive strike because she knew they wouldn't like her signing Hogan. Which should have made her wonder why they wouldn't like her signing Hogan, but also, how would she know there would be a backlash for signing him? Because she read it on the internet - and then proceeded to talk to her employees as if they're the internet.
ReplyDeleteWhile we're on the subject of Dixie, I find her seemingly thinking her and Stephanie McMahon are buddies to be awkward. I'm sure she thinks they're similar because they're both women who's father has given them the opportunity to run a business without the qualifications to do it, but if TNA ever became a threat to WWE in any way Stephanie would bite Dixie's head off.
ReplyDeleteshes playin monopoly and is abusin' 'no purchase necessary' trying to score big for the next week's pay
ReplyDeleteWho would downvote this? Garrett Bischoff is garbage, worst case of nepotism in wrestling in a long time.
ReplyDeleteit would be like when vickie was tryin' to be all buddy buddy with steph in that segment but when it got too personal steph was all like 'lol nope'
ReplyDeleteI'm actually having to work for this one. :/
ReplyDeleteOh and I only upvoted to prove I wasn't the one that downvoted... don't let it go to your head.
So... uh... TNA sure is having a lot of trouble lately amirite?
ReplyDeleteA priest, a rabbi, and TNA walk into a bar. TNA gets thrown out because they don't have any money.
ReplyDeleteKnock Knock.
Who's there?
Orange.
Orange who?
Orange you glad I didn't say TNA?
I was taking a big shit the other day. Suddenly TNA walks into the bathroom and says "Ohhh smells like sex in here!"
Back in the mid-90s I worked for an electronics store called Incredible Universe (Best Buy only much bigger and cooler, great place to work). They gave us a pep talk to calm rumors right before the Christmas season started. Long story short, January 12th they called us in to tell us they were closing most locations and selling the rest to the evil empire of Fry's electronics. I lasted about 6 weeks with Fry's before quitting. Don't trust pep talks. It's like when a coach gets the dreaded vote of confidence in sports.
ReplyDeleteI'm downvoting things just because everyone else is at this point. Groupthink!
ReplyDeleteLET THE CHICKENS LOOSE
ReplyDeleteIt should have been taken care of 10 minutes after the show was announced.
ReplyDeleteDude I loved Incredible Universe! They had a VR game, Atari Jaguars set up to play, and tons of CDs and VHS for sale.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why they went under lol
Whoa...............
ReplyDeletewent under because expenses were insane and because they were run by Tandy, which also owned computer city or CompUSA (some computer chain) that tanked and Radio Shack. I was making 30k after taxes at 24 years old doing commission sales. They treated us all great (at least in Sacramento). We were crazy busy most of the time but expenses were high. I hate to think what the electric bill was alone. We always had the Sacramento Kings players in for promotions and signings. Sold Corliss Williamson a stereo set.
ReplyDeleteMesa called Jar-Jar Binks.
ReplyDeleteTGGI
ReplyDeleteShe's just trying to instant win a cheesburger... she can't afford lunch you see...
ReplyDeleteI can see a 3 on 1 Shield beat down on Mark Henry and that's when Show makes the save and his return. And we get Rollins/ Reigns vs Show / Henry at Summerslam. That's my shout anyway.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree. It seems clear that Prichard was in way over his head. He fucked up this along with several contracts. Plus, its been rumored that he was disliked by most of the talent
ReplyDeleteSteph could literally rip Dixie in half. Hell, Steph could rip half of TNA's roster in half.
ReplyDeleteI do wonder if this is 'TNA going broke' vs 'Bruce Prichard has Paul Heyman's ability to run day-to-day ops'. It's probably the former, but I hold out hope. Maybe Kevin Sullivan will e-mail a booking sheet each week to TNA for fun.
ReplyDeleteHow could that do anything but get the Shield over as babyfaces?
ReplyDeleteHey I'm just thinking how the
ReplyDeletewwe would think.
Big Show / Mark Henry would be an unstoppable team in their eyes
STEPHANNIIEEEEEEE....YOU GOING NOWHERRRRRRE! I GOTCHA FOR THREE MINUTES!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know so many members of the Bischoff family read this blog.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he and Henry are both having pretty surprising resurgences since their heel turns.
ReplyDeleteIt seems strange to me that in a company as (relatively) big as TNA, these two jobs are one in the same. Prichard's title was Senior VP of Programming and Talent Relations. Shouldn't there be a VP of Programming, and a separate VP of Talent Relations? I know that the last thing Dixie wants to do is employ more vice presidents, and Prichard obviously knew what he was getting into, but aren't these jobs big enough to warrant separate positions? Or at least shouldn't they be if they're being done right?
ReplyDeleteIf there's an effective talent relations guy, maybe they're not missing out on guys like Ambrose and Rollins, much less letting contracts run out? If there's an effective guy solely in charge of creative, maybe they're insulated from pressure to creatively justifying large contracts for Sting, Hogan, or even Chavo, and solely concerned with the quality of the product? Then the talent relations can make hiring decisions based on how the programmer is using talent. Sort of like the coach-GM relationship in pro sports, with the programmer as coach, and the talent relations as GM.
I'd reverse engineer the relationship the way that many NFL teams do, with the coach in the senior position of final say. Hire a Sr. VP of Programming, who's basically your head booker. He then hires, or at least approves of the hiring of a Jr. VP of Talent Relations who will manage the day to day business, and acquire or retain talent that suits the Sr. Vice President's creative vision. And if he doesn't already, the Sr. VP should have final say on the hiring and firing of Producers (the backstage agents), sort of like assistant coaches, so that they're all moving in the same direction.
This should cut down on nepotism, and allow both aspects to function more effectively. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money.
SNL was before that leading up to WM2000 with all the main event guys on it. Showster and such came after at Backlash and stuff.
ReplyDeleteI would be in favor of Show and Henry becoming the 21st Century Colossal Connection. Putting them in a tag team at this point is probably a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI would watch a ppv to watch those two in a good catfight.
ReplyDeleteIs there really anything left for Big Show to do at this point?
ReplyDeleteBlackface?
ReplyDeleteAny dollar amount spent on Bischoff is wasted money. I wouldn't even use him as an unpaid intern.
ReplyDeleteNaw, he was loved, brother.
ReplyDeleteSlowly. turning. heel.
ReplyDeleteDon't casually assume that you'll automatically be able to have kids. Just...don't. Trust me.
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of reasons for it. Henry broke out feuding with Show (that feels weird to type) and they both have beef with the Shield.
ReplyDeleteBut if the Shield beat them (and they will) there's no way they won't look like a pair of badasses who can wrestle anybody to death. And that's the first step to a face turn.
I thought only zanadude watches Main Event.
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHIT INCREDIBLE UNIVERSE!
ReplyDeleteI have an Incredible Universe poster with Mitch Richmond, OP, and L-Train. Actually, Mitch signed it not too long ago.
It's the only way to get to the bottom of a crime.
ReplyDelete
