More Backstage News On Adam Rose

The reason that Rose's appearance happened at the beginning of RAW this week is that the company felt the crowd did not react to his debut because it happened too late in the show and they were tired at that point in the show.

  1. So they are aware that the three hour shows are not really ideal.

A more streamlined two hour show would be much better. I've been a fan for twenty years but an 18 month old daughter means I just don't have three hours to watch a wrestling show. And I can I can FF through it but then I think what's the point watching a show I'm fast forwarding through the majority of?

    ReplyDelete
  2. I FF through now, it's like my own Hulu cut!

    ReplyDelete
  3. There is this thing called money. That is why it is 3 hours. Money > potential flow/quality of a show.

    ReplyDelete
  4. And is the money rolling in for them right now? I'm sure there's been something in the news lately about this...

    ReplyDelete
  5. Completely agree. No matter how you slice it, 3 hours is just way to long for a wrestling show.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Wwe is really trying to rationalize away Roses shitty gimmick

    ReplyDelete
  7. Well, he was on pretty late in the show, could have contributed to the bomb.

    ReplyDelete
  8. 1. Wow. Cena goes over yet another Wyatt family member. Way to build the feud up guys.

    2. Yeah.....that's why it bombed....it was too late in the show.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Here's a hint WWE: Just because it worked in front of 150 fans in NXT for three weeks doesn't mean it's going to get over in front of 15,000 every single week.

    ReplyDelete
  10. The Rose stuff is awful. It sounded good in theory but is a mess.

    ReplyDelete
  11. It was good on NXT, but then bad on Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  12. For #2, could be ca factor.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 3 non consecutive weeks might I add.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Looks like they got the hint with Bo Dallas debuting on Smackdown.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Time to add in the cheers?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Or maybe, just maybe, Adam Rose and his gimmick is bush league.

That being said, it's kind of funny so I'll be interested to see where it goes.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Adam Rose is older than Randy Orton. That's insane.

    ReplyDelete
  18. On first glance I thought Ax was Al Bundy.

What's the success rate of a guy hitting the big time after 35? Seems like the WWE wouldn't really bother.

    ReplyDelete
  19. They should've brought a bigger entourage for his debut.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The money is always flowing in. The stock price has nothing to do with that.

    ReplyDelete
  21. USA wants them to go 3 hours

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think it might turn around and you...oh, I don't know. Let him wrestle and just destroy a few people.

That works for literally everyone. It worked for freaking Doink the Clown. If he came out partying. With his song (Which I like.) And had just destroyed Jack Swagger, it would have been received much better.

British dude that loves to party and kicks a lot of ass. How hard is that to work? Have him be a tweener even. Put him over Swagger, Kofi, Whoever, have him steal a girl from someone and unceremoniously dump her for being a lemon.

    ReplyDelete
  23. ... and he was after probably one of the WORST segments on the show, one that really cooled the crowd. He needed to come out off something like the weekly Santino/Emma vs whoever "wake the crowd up" match.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Money from good/shorter product in few years > more from bad/longer in few years.

Are you really that short sighted? Or that lacking in knowledge of economics?

    ReplyDelete
  25. At that age, back then, you were actually considered a seasoned wrestler and valuable because you had done your time in the industry and gone through different territories.

Hell, Bret Hart didn't earn his first world title till he was 33/34 and Kevin Nash was 37-ish.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It kind of reminds me of The Heart Throbs/Heart Breakers. Everyone, including Alvarez and Meltzer, thought their OVW intro was one of the best in the biz. But once they tried the same act in the big leagues, it floundered.

    ReplyDelete
  27. But the crowd was even deader for Rose this week. The character can work in front of a college crowd of 200 but when you make the character lamer to appeal to a larger fan base, it is nowhere nearly as effective. This is a dud

    ReplyDelete
  28. It's pretty low. Batista and Boogeyman are the only recent attempts to my knowledge. Bad News was old when he started but that was a different time.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That doesn't concern me as a viewer. They can have a six hour show if they want, but I won't watch all of it

    ReplyDelete
  30. It reflects the difference between the booking/writing teams of both shows, as well as differing expectations. On NXT it's a feel good breather between the action that gets you pumped up before the action picks up. On Raw it's just another midcard angle leading to the start of a midcard feud with someone that will ultimately lead nowhere other than the midcard shuffle. Part of the effectiveness of the Adam Rose gimmick on NXT was the sheer, "WTF is this aspect" of the gimmick that you just couldn't help get caught up in it. They should of just had Adam Rose come out during a down moment of the show and get people acclimated to the character rather than have come out and start a nothing feud with Jack Swagger.

Adam Rose is not a main event character as he stands now but instead of embracing the uniqueness of the character and gimmick he's just another geek in the midcard.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Or "boos" in his case. Although I do think that "Bo Dallas" is a more traditional wrestling character that people would get more immediately than "Adam Rose."

    ReplyDelete
  32. That's what I was wondering, because I wasn't in front of the TV when he came out this past week.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That's the problem tho, did it really ever sound good or scream "winner" to wwe manage when they pitched the idea? It shouldn't have

    ReplyDelete
  34. It's insane how young the guys who have been around for almost forever are. I mean Cody Rhodes is not even 30 and he's been around for 8 years. Randy Orton is not even 35 and he been around for 12 years which is longer than Hulk Hogan's Hulkamania run.

    ReplyDelete
  35. :nods head:
    This.

    ReplyDelete
  36. It was Cole.....

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah, it worked for NXT because, well, NXT is a smaller venue. On Raw, he would have needed and extra 25 people to make the effect work.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes,comrade.Studying for the exams now.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 1- Cena Wins LOL
2-That's sad,his NXT debut as so fun.Like the guy said below in NXT the pacing is better, the midcard matters. In Raw he's in shuffle because they don't care for the midcard guys.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well,I might have a teacher's strike next wednesday. The first semester is being a hell.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Are any of these classes online?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Let it play out for a few weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  43. They send texts and that's it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. If they actually had a decent midcard,Rose's debut would be better.

    ReplyDelete
  45. You'd think that if they knew that a bus and teacher strike was going to happen, some of these classes would have online stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Should have had JTG make a token appearance just to job to him.

    ReplyDelete
  47. If they stop,I'm just gonna sit in my place and wait until is over.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The last time I saw JTG was in the BNB new years eve cerimony.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yeah, and if things don't go your way by the end of the semester, you can't be blamed.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Last time I remember seeing him, he was jobbing to Ryback in 2012.

    ReplyDelete
  51. He got Dancin' Homered. Sadface.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Is that a Grumpy cat drawing?
