Friday Night Thread

Alright guys, after learning about some tragic news today at the BoD, you can use this thread to talk about Smackdown, Sports, and anything else that is going on. And I do not say this much, but be respectful in this thread, specifically about the news that we have heard regarding poster Officer Farva. He deserves that much at the very least.

RIP Mark Haas, you will be missed here at the BoD.

If anyone wishes, they can leave a message on his legacy page by clicking on the link below

  1. I'm sure Farva is smiling the Heat are getting spanked.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Yeah RIP Farva, he was one of the many good guys here. You got an internet friend in me

TJ: Rangers come back from 3-0? Is Quick over whatever had people concerned about his performance or did they go to the backup. Not that Hockey is out of Tier II or anything.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm not even gonna watch Smackdown tonight because..
    1. I can't get the channel at the hotel I'm at.
    2. This is just so sad.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Mark Haas' (Officer Farva) sister wants me to thank Brian for making this thread. She will probably post something in a few, so please be respectful..

    ReplyDelete
  5. Wow! Is there an obit online or something?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah, fairly deep down in the BoD Daily Update thread but yeah

    ReplyDelete
  7. Brutal news. RIP Mark - I always enjoyed your posts, and you seemed like a good dude. My thoughts are with your friends and family.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Super Troopers is actually on TV right now here in the UK.

    RIP

    Blog is Farva?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Just terrible news, always liked his contributions here....

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sorry for your guys' loss and condolences to his family and friends. I always enjoyed his posts. Hope he finds some peace.

    Rest in peace Mark.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm legit stunned. His posts will for sure be missed.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Rest in Peace Farva. Sorry to his family and friends and anybody out there who is hurt by his passing(including everyone here at the blog)

    ReplyDelete
  16. If the BoD were a wrestling fed. I'd say Farva and I came up together...we were total opposites but we always got along anyway... I wanted to say something grand to finish this but I just can't think of it right now.

    RIP

Maybe his ghost gave LeBron the shits?

    ReplyDelete
  18. When you first start posting here you're just posting your opinion on whatever and interacting with handles with avatars. But after a while you start to get to know the regulars, have some you like more than others, some with agree with more than others...but at the end of the day, it is some sort of a community, unconventional as it might be. Farva and I tended to agree on most things (except Punk, but I liked him so I didn't debate him on that one), and had a similar sense of humour (mocking Bret Hart). He seemed like the kind of guy I'd like and want to hang out with in "real life". There's really no other way to say it other than it's sad and tragic - way too young, way too sudden. A lot of people here seem genuinely shaken up by this, so I can only imagine how his "real life" family and friends must feel. Thoughts and prayers.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think the fact that we don't always get along makes it more family than community. If it wasn't then people wouldn't have gone through the trouble to find out what happened to him. Thoughts and prayers for real

Wow this is fucked. I liked Farva. How did we discover the obit in the first place? I'm reading the other thread..

    ReplyDelete
  24. Holy crap...R.I.P. Farva. That fucking sucks

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mister_E_LogdriverJune 13, 2014 at 6:08 PM

Same. I started to say something but I just don't know what.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Curiosity arose on where he was and then someone found an obit. We knew his last name because of his email acct.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Mister_E_LogdriverJune 13, 2014 at 6:09 PM

This actually has me legitimately upset.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I agree. I just came here because I liked Scott Keith. Then in the last six months or so I got to know a lot of people better. This place has been great in creating a distraction from bullshit in everyday life.

  30. I am absolutely watching that tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Same. I have been posting for a few years but mostly in the last year... it has not been a great year for my personal life so this has been the distraction i needed many times.

walked home from work, took 40 min

70 degrees, sky straight out of a bob ross painting (fluffy little clouds!), listening to some good tried and true power metal (primal fear!)...

...and all i could think of the entire time was farva

    ReplyDelete
  34. YankeesHoganTripleHFanJune 13, 2014 at 6:13 PM

Maybe Bayless can write something on the blog's behalf.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Was that a question, or your way of agreeing?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Man, I got a ride home from one of my reporters and the skies just opened up and a bolt of lightning looked like it hit the damned street.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm signing the guest book as myself.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm thinking about what to say, but yeah, kind of weird with the whole never having met him IRL thing.

i mentioned the weather b/c it's the epitome of a beautiful pleasant damn near spring like early evening. nice walk, great tunes, and i still felt numb

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ive followed Scott around the net since the late 90s and Ive always enjoyed his writing but I have to admit I started coming to the blog more and more for the community rather than his writing....

I know plenty have bailed on this place saying it changed, but I enjoy the people here and the writing more today than I ever did in the past. Im a Bayless mark on top of that...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Stranger in the AlpsJune 13, 2014 at 6:15 PM

I know it's silly and all, considering the legitimacy of the situation, but the BoD Top 5er Lounge needs a permanent photo of Farva on the wall. Right above the bar.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well, I think signing as WCW1987 might be a bit strange...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryJune 13, 2014 at 6:16 PM

Agreeing. Despite, or probably because of you being a straight edge guy, I always talk to you about a lot of personal shit, because you're more clear-headed than I am.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Your_Favourite_Buck_NastyJune 13, 2014 at 6:17 PM

a few people had been wondering the last few weeks, even speculating the worst.

then on a lark since i was thinking about his disappearance (maybe b/c i posted the news about wwe trying to extend punk's contract without his permission...?), i made a post asking if anyone knew his real name. a few people had an idea based on e-mails, abeyance did some research, and the pieces fell into place until magoonie was able to confirm by somehow contacting farva's sister

    ReplyDelete
  45. I live about a mile off of US 19 about 40 minutes away from Largo and it is easily the worst highway Ive ever encountered. Much worse than any place in NY where I grew up...

    ReplyDelete
  46. The Blog community kind of reinvents itself every couple of years. I was lurking here for 5-6 years before I started being more active. I'm a lot more fond of what this place has turned into in the last year or so.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Your_Favourite_Buck_NastyJune 13, 2014 at 6:17 PM

i suggested he be honorary #1

    ReplyDelete
  48. I just signed it with my first name and from Ohio. It'll be cool with all of us posting in there from different states. I think it'll be touching for his family to know how much he was liked nationwide..

    ReplyDelete
  49. Mister_E_LogdriverJune 13, 2014 at 6:18 PM

    Yeah, I totally did too.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I actually enjoy the WWE product more because of this blog. Raw and PPV's are actually very entertaining because of the folks here..

On the real, I just got in from the gym. My head was fucked up ever since this broke. When I stress I either hit the gym or pull out the sketchpad. None of that is working right now.

GOD bless your life, Farva. It was a pleasure getting to know you.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Damn, well this is bad news. Rest In Peace Farva.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  55. Aric Johnson, Sami LikerJune 13, 2014 at 6:21 PM

Hey, at least they were on TV most weeks right up until the end. They'll probably end up in TNA if it doesn't go out of business soon.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh, absolutely. The first time I seriously remember following along with the blog was Royal Rumble 2009. I'm sure I was lurking before that, too, but for some reason that's my first real connection with the Blog. Made me laugh out loud a bunch of times and I kept reading ever since.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Holy crap that spear to Heath

    ReplyDelete
  58. Very sad news to come home from work to. Mark e-mailed me all the time (like, ALL the time) and like everyone else I was kind of worried when I hadn't heard from him in a few weeks (the last time we talked was May 18, which ended up being a thread about the stock plunge). He always had interesting and fun questions to contribute to the blog and I'll miss hearing from him. RIP.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I def. would have checked out of WWE again by now if it wasn't for the BoD

    ReplyDelete

I pretty much have for the past year and a half. I still keep hanging around here though.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh, my wife will give me strange look when I just start busting out laughing while reading this stuff during Raw or a PPV...

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thank you. I benefit a lot from our interactions as well and despite our differences see a lot in common.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Me too. I gave up on Raw a month or two ago but still follow by coming here.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Your_Favourite_Buck_NastyJune 13, 2014 at 6:24 PM

out of curiosity, did his real name ring a bell, then?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yeah, whenever I'm on a posting binge, my gf looks over and asks if I'm on the Blog. She's always asking me what was so funny. I can never explain it.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Well I mean, I knew his real name all along. No one ever asked me.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm about to go see my GF... i don't know how I am going to explain why I am upset that a guy I don't know is gone

    ReplyDelete

npp people are shit. you won't believe what they're doing over there

    ReplyDelete
  85. When ya interact with somebody everyday, they are more than just some faceless person on the internet in my opinion. Person has to be considered a friend, or ya wouldnt waste your time chatting with em....

    ReplyDelete
  86. That was a glorified squash win for the Wyatt's. Wonder if the Usos will get that win back? 50/50 Babee!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Why not? The site will be up for a couple more weeks, but it would be nice if the family could see what we have to say and print it out. We all spend hours on this site, we probably have more conversations with our fellow blog members than we do with real life people..

    ReplyDelete
  88. I have no clue but they dont seem worth the time from the stuff I read about em here...

    ReplyDelete
  89. Are they being asses about Farva?

You had a contract with life, and without knowing the terms of what you signed, all I can say is that you walked out on it like a petulant child!!

Just kidding buddy. I will miss you a lot. =(

You know what Dougie, when I first heard that people were saying stuff over at NPP, I thought it was going to be you. It's not "one" guy like you are saying, it's a few people but you aren't one of them. So, thanks and I'm sorry for thinking the worst of you.

NPP= No Pants Provided, its a website that has a message board. They have a thread over there dedicated to making fun of the posts and posters at the BOD. Currently a few of them are making fun of Farva.

  166. You're right! I'll put that on my business cards.

  167. Maybe they're lumping them all together as one program (I know, I'd be shocked if they lied about numbers too). You know, as a way to show non-network subscribers they are available.

  168. They've been posting up around 15 minutes or so after.. Mine is under "Xanda"(from New York)

  188. Farva was obsessed with the Place to Be and at first it really annoyed me that he wouldn't shut up about it. Then I tried it out and thought it was decent. Now I make sure to listen to Scott and Justin's podcast every week there.

So Scott and Justin, you have Farva to thank for me being a listener!

  189. Farva Quotes: "I have a buddy who ate octopus balls in San Francisco and he said he loved them. I called bullshit but maybe he really did like them"

  190. Farva's death happened less than a mile from my home. I have both walked and driven through that intersection literally thousands of times. It's basically a freeway overpass, and with as shitty as Florida drivers are... well, as we can see...

R.I.P. man. Wish I had known you were local, would have liked to meet you.
